Matcha was good, but coffee tasted a little burnt. The prices for the drinks felt a little pricey for what they were, considering there were no milk adjustments or alterations. I understand coffee prices range upwards to $10/drink, but the drinks just felt a bit underwhelming for what they were. The inside has much more seating than I was expecting, so it is a great place to sit and chat, or bring a laptop and get some work done! Good location for this spot and hoping it'll improve a bit, as I know they recently opened. read more

Was happy to see a craft coffee & matcha spot pop up nearby so obviously gave Rien a visit. Visited on a Friday afternoon which wasn't a super busy time but did have some patrons filling the shop. It's a cute spot that has a lot of potential though I feel my first time was a bit subpar. I ordered an iced matcha latte and it was more milky than anything and especially at $8+ a drink, was tough to swallow. The barista who took my order wasn't friendly nor trying to engage beyond taking my order. These days, there's got to be more than just pushing out a drink considering there are tons of coffee / matcha shop options and said drinks are costing near $10. read more

They use agave as their sweetner which gave the drink a perfectly balanced sweetness. The service was friendly and helpful. ****** NOTE to the owner: Please buy one of those fly things for the store. I saw a fly inside the pastry container. I ended up not getting a pastry just because of that. With all the up and coming matcha spots, I am always trying to find a new spot to go to. Their cafe was cute with plenty of seating and also very aesthetic. I appreciate how put together their cafe was and menu options. Because each drink is made individually and not by whole batch, it takes 10-15 mins to get your drink especially if you get multiple matcha drinks in the order. Strawberry matcha 3.75/5 I appreciate the strawberry flavor and how cohesive the drink was. However, you don't get a lot of matcha flavor and volume for the price. Banana matcha 4/5 Good banana flavor especially because it tastes fresh and not artificial. Same notes of mellow matcha and can definitely finish in a quick sitting. Yuzu matcha tonic 3/5 If you've ever tried the honey citron tea mix at asian markets, this is what the yuzu tastes like. I was disappointed that they opted for this flavor instead of a fresh yuzu note. Matcha flavor was fine but the overall drink did not taste balanced and was more on the bitter side. If I am in a matcha mood and am limited on time, I would stop in again especially since it is close by. However, I think I'd choose another place to visit for more quality and price value. read more

New coffee shop in Orange/Tustin! While the place is very aesthetic, the food & drinks were rather disappointing for how much we paid. DRINKS: The double matcha was probably the best, but it was more of a light matcha with a dairy heavy cream top. The dirty strawberry soda was pretty bitter so my friend had to ask them to add sugar & it ended up tasting like a capri sun... FOOD: The avocado cream toast only had a hint of avocado since it was mixed into the cream with cottage cheese. I think a different bread other than sourdough would've been better. The kimchi grilled cheese was actually pretty good but definitely not worth $18. I'd only come back to do work if I need a quiet place since it's spacious and has several seating/outlets. Found my new favorite coffee shop in OC! It's in a plaza with plenty of parking, we walked in and were greeted by our lovely barista. She recommended the Einspanner and pistachio cloud, both tasted delicious, the perfect amount of flavor where you can also taste the espresso. The ambiance is very welcoming, minimalistic, and ideal for a catch up with friends, or to get work done (I did see a handful of outlets). They were also sweet enough to offer my pup a pup cup, which she loved! read more

Inside is very well lit; big open space. Places to sit while you wait for your coffee or hang out. Ordered the hot hazelnut latte with oat milk; a little bitter aftertaste. It was good but not spectacular. A solid coffee. Sadly not a lot of variety in the flavors of latte. Also ordered the apple fritter, and it was soooo soft, warm and flaky. Soooo good! They've got some tables but most of the seating are just chairs or benches, so this spot is best for hanging out instead of studying/working. Staff is friendly and capable. We enjoyed both their americano and blueberry matcha latte made with real blueberries. You can pay a little extra for plant milks and they've got cane sugar and simple syrup on the counter so that you can adjust your drinks. This neighborhood really needed a modern chic coffee and matcha spot so I'm really glad we have one now. At around 7:30am, there was a small line but the service was friendly and fast. For coffee drinks, you get to pick which type of espresso you wanted, I went with the medium roast and it was really good. I tried the coconut cloud latte, the presentation was really pretty but as someone who frequents coffee shops I strongly prefer lattes that come mixed ( espresso + milk+ syrup) instead of having to do it myself since it helps blend the syrup better with the espresso and milk better. The layered effect of pouring the espresso on top of ice looks nice but hot espresso over ice also ends up watering down the coffee. I've had good coconut coffee before but this flavor wasn't my favorite, I'm not sure if they use a house made or standard store brought type of syrup but it felt too artificial-y, kind of like an extract flavor as opposed to natural coconut. I would probably try another flavor next time and the matcha also seems super promising. Another plus for this coffee shop is that there is a lot of good seating and great lighting. The parking in this lot can get crowded but there is plenty of parking down past the grocery store. Overall, solid spot for a quick drink or bite. read more

It was my first time trying Rien and the ambience is very mellow/modern which leaves room for lots of aesthetic pictures. The service was extremely fast. I ordered right when I got there with no line and within five minutes our drinks were finished. I got the Strawberry Cloud Matcha Latte and my partner got the Matcha Cloud Matcha Latte. The taste of the matcha was just right and it wasn't too sweet but didn't give me that "wow" factor. I'm surprised with how many drink options/flavors and food that they had. The worker said the most popular matcha is the Banana Cloud Matcha, we didn't try that this time but maybe next time. The double matcha had a good matcha flavor to it, wasn't super strong and a good sweetness. The mango matcha was very sweet, it overpowered the matcha flavor a little. We stopped by Rien on Sunday to grab some drinks and pastries. The shop is adorable, and the staff are so nice!! The pastries were also very yummy. I got the classic cloud matcha latte, and my husband got the dirty coconut. We both really enjoyed our drinks, and the dirty coconut was especially good. I'll definitely try this again!! We got a croissant, vegetable quiche, and danish to bring back to my parents, and they were all tasty! But we thought they were quite expensive. We spent over $42, and paid more than $5 for a plain butter croissant, which feels pretty wild. The interior is super cute and very "clean girl aesthetic," and somewhat reminiscent of blue bottle. I got great advice on what type of espresso to get in my drink and I was super satisfied with my experience. The shop itself has really great vibes for studying or hanging out with your friends. I've tried their 12 oz vanilla latte and it rang me over $7 with no modifications or milk substitution.. I get a 16oz vanilla latte and my regular coffee shop for $5.50 so the price for what I'm getting here is a little too high for me.
