Tried this cafe for the first time and it didn't disappoint! The only thing that threw me off was the ordering setup, the menu is on an iPad right at the counter, and you can't see the prices until you're placing your order. I tried the Monkey Business and it was really good. Service was pretty minimal, nothing rude, just the bare minimum. Tried this place randomly during the day! I got the banana coffee and the banana matcha. The coffee tasted good and the matcha was just okay. I got extra matcha because the original matcha is super light and weak (my friend got the normal version). It still just tasted okay i would't get it again tbh. The banana foam is good but it's not super delicious to come back for. I think i would try another coffee drink with a regular foam instead to give it another try. The coffee wasn't super strong so i'm not sure how much shots it has. they also only have one size which im personally not a fan of :( it was 16$ in total! read more

I want to start by saying i loved the ambiance! The service was okay, i had a question about the latte and was made to feel dumb! I had a total brain fart moment where i asked if there was espresso in the latte and the girl employee looked at me so awfully and responded "uh yeah" super sarcastically! Super embarrassing, It was a brain fart on my end and i felt embarrassed but i laughed it off. The person who made my drink was nice though. I think comparing it to all the other coffee/matcha spots in OC, this falls pretty dead center to me. It was good, not memorable or not something i'd drive out of my way for. We Yelped what was close to Irvine Park since we were going hiking that morning and needed a quick bite and coffee to power up. Ended up at Ape Coffee and glad we tried it! My bf went with a latte and egg sandwich, and I ordered their famous Cloud Ape with avocado toast. Coffee was really good, but the avocado toast had way too much lime, super tangy, not really the way I like it. This place is definitely popular. The line was long and finding a seat or table was tricky, but we got lucky. I liked the overall vibe and especially the music playing in the background, it gave the spot some extra character. I can't get enough of this coffee shop. Not only is their coffee and matcha fantastic, but it's consistently delicious. The baked goods and sandwiches are also great. Their current seasonal drinks have me hooked and I have no problem returning, or getting my friends addicted, too. Moreover, their staff is cheery and welcoming. When I need to get out of the house but still need to put in a coule hours of work, this is my favorite spot, and the staff have excellent taste in music. I tried the two most popular recommendations from the signature drinks and overall enjoyed it. Monkey Business is their most popular drink and is basically an espresso with banana cream on top. It's a sweet drink. The Cloud Ape is a cold brew with a cream top and is recommended for those who prefer a strong cup of coffee. If you're coming here to do some work, know that there's only a couple tables but wifi is pretty good. Aside from your typical coffee options (capps, mochas, espressos) using their line of Ape Coffee, they also have different types of matcha lattes made with strawberry, blueberry, etc. I ordered the Incredible Ape matcha latte as they said it was their best seller. It was delicious. Strong matcha flavor with an essence of banana. My husband ordered an americano. He's a dark roast type of black coffee drinker and sadly, it did not do it for him. We also ordered an Oreo Matcha cookie and a Pistachio Matcha croissant. Both were okay. They were green and cool for photos but they didn't taste freshly baked, especially for the price we paid. Service was good. I think because it was a Monday, the line wasn't long at all. We waited a bit for our drinks though. Even for an Americano. Come for the matcha lattes for sure. read more

Parking is a little hard because it's in a small plaza. The ambience inside is really cool! It's dark, but still well-lit. Seating is limited. Servers are welcoming. 10/10 Incredible Ape Matcha ($6.78): So good. Probably one of the best banana matcha drinks I have had. I had their Midnight Ape (5/5) and Monkey Business (4/5). The Midnight Ape was my favorite because you rarely see a blueberry matcha drink and it was a hit! I ordered the incredible ape matcha, tried the matcha banana cream bread along with the matcha pistachio croissant. A lot of people come in to work or study so tables are not readily available. They also sell apparel. The coffee shop is dim lit and has one outdoor table. Even if you order to go, there aren't plates offered to eat any of the pastries or sandwiches.
