I added Ape Coffee to my list for awhile, but finally got to try it. Came to visit on a Sunday morning and it was a bit crowded. The vibe at this coffee shop is quite interesting and aesthetic. It gives a hidden, very local styled pub in a small town. Feels like everyone knows everyone here which is really cool. We got ourselves a matcha latte and midnight ape (blueberry matcha craem top) along with some pastry items. Our drinks tasted pretty good, though the blueberry matcha was a little bit too sweet to my liking. They got some interesting pastry items such as strawberry sea salt white choco and matcha pistachio croissants. They were really tasty, even better if warmed, I believe. However, the oreo matcha cookie was dry and chalky, almost unedible. Overall, I really like this coffee place. I have yet to try coffee and other food items, so there will definitely be next time. We've been regulars at Ape for about 1.5 years now! Their matcha keeps bringing us back. They push creativity coming up with new flavors, but their classic match latte will always be a favorite. Their current mango sticky rice matcha is refreshing! Its been nice with the heat. Their coffee is hit and miss at times! The tiramisu latte and snow monkey are their best, but we have found that their others are either too sour or too milky. The employees are super kind and chill. The only downer the cafe it's in a small plaza old plaza with VERY LIMITED parking that reminds me of college circling around like vultures looking for anyone walking to their cars. Once you're lucky to get a premium spot, you can see a line forming around the entrance. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a buzzing music and just chattering among the patrons (not a place for studying). The decor is quirky yet cozy, with an industrial feel that's perfect for hanging out or just sipping your favorite brew. The pastries look incredibly delicious, with some unique flavors, but I'm watching my sugar. The coffee? Absolutely top-notch. Whether you're a fan of classic coffee, matcha latte or Banana Business Latte, Ape Coffee has something for everyone. Again, the parking can be a little tricky during busy times, so will be hesitant to come back for another visit. Stopped by on a Sunday before work and noticed the line was outside the coffee shop. I figured I would have time and that the line would go by quick but in all honesty, it did take some time but the baristas were on top of it. It was the morning, so I get it, people need their energy with a good cup of coffee. The shop is pretty cute and has apes throughout the shop. There is a cool ape graphic on the wall that you can take a pic with and some plushies throughout the baristas maker space. I ordered the Cloud Ape which is a cold brew with sweet cold foam topped with cacao powder. The drink had a good taste but wasn't too strong for me. Pastries looked really good but since I was on a time crunch did not want to take more time with my order. Overall, cool spot but be advised that you may need to wait because this place is pretty popular. It is away from the Orange circle so parking won't be too crazy. Really surprised about how much I liked this place! My boyfriend and I were in the area and found this place on yelp. I hadn't heard of it before but it was close to our destination. We visited on a saturday morning and it wasn't too busy, there's lots of street parking. There was no line when we went but most of the tables were taken. The restaurant itself is dark and well decorated, clean! We ordered their seasonal matcha drinks, a strawberry match and blueberry matcha. We also ordered banana bread without chocolate but I think the employee misheard us because she gave us a loaf with chocolate lol. It was still good though! The drinks came out quickly. The color of matcha was nice, and it was a very strong drink actually. My boyfriend and I agreed the strawberry matcha just tasted like strawberry milk but that's not a bad thing! That is how they make it everytime. To top it off, everyone who works there (at the Placentia location) is so friendly. I was heading up to Anaheim Hills for a class and Ape coffee was too conveniently on my way to not make a stop in for some coffee. Glad I did as they had a special bogo50% which helped me out tremendously as I wanted to try their Ape Matcha - matcha and banana cream foam, and the tiramisu latte - espresso and mascarpone cream foam. I asked for no sweetener in both so I can also enjoy the monkey bread. Let me say, the drinks were delicious. Very lightly flavored which makes them a treat and not overbearing. The matcha had a deep color and balanced matcha and creaminess and the banana cream foam was a layer that I didn't think would work, but it does. The tiramisu latte is one I can drink every day. It is creamy without being overly disruptive to the espresso. The monkey bread was just ok for me as it didn't taste fresh. Service was great. I found parking easily. Indoor seating. Store had an industrial feel. small merch section in the back. The Bitcoin decal in the back instantly made me understand the name and the tie in to this shop. I've had this place on my list for a while and I got the banana matcha which was so so good. It can be a little pricey but I think that's about the same pricing almost anywhere nowadays. The staff here is amazing, the drinks are amazing, and the vibe is definitely vibing. The monkey business latte is SO FREAKING GOOD! It's a sweetened latte with banana cream cold foam and trust me, it sounds weird, but you will LOVE it. They make their own banana milk, so it doesn't have that artificial taste. Small parking lot. Be aware that some spots are marked for neighboring businesses, so parking can be quite difficult on busy days. There is street parking also but be mindful that it is in front of people's homes. The interior gives off a cool vibe with dark tones, moderate to dim lighting. Nice place to hang out with friends to chat or play board games. I came a couple times before and the noise level was light enough to study or work. However, a Saturday morning might not be the best time to study/work since they crank up the music quite loud. The staff here are very nice, which has been consistent the 3 times I've visited! The cashier was even helpful when I asked what she suggested on which sauce to add on my avocado toast and it wasn't a disappointment at all! I ordered the avocado toast with egg and spicy aioli. If you're used to spice, it wasn't spicy at all but a great additive to the dish. So far, I've only tried their seasonal drinks which have been great! In the fall, I tried their pumpkin matcha which was such a delight! Good amount of matcha flavor with a hint of pumpkin flavor and a nice cold foam on top. In the winter, I've tried their campfire latte with oat milk which had a nice hint of a roasted flavor and creaminess. Their pasties are also very good, although I've only had their croissants and matcha cookie. I would definitely come back to try other things. Hopefully on a day where their music isn't too loud so I can enjoy their drinks and read a book. read more

Ape coffee was INCREDIBLE. I'm a huge fan of bananas and it was perfect. The espresso tasted delicious and wasn't watered down and the banana tasted fresh and not artificial. It wasn't too sweet, it was perfectly balanced. Mine was the brûlée coffee so they had flambed the top like crème brûlée and topped it off with a banana. Soooo good. Parking: I got 1 of the last 3 spots. Reference: I went on a Monday at 12pm. This coffee shop was like a co-working space, and the lot was a bit smaller. I'm sure there's street parking, but I didn't get to check. I ordered a pecan monkey bread + matcha cream banana bread (they were mid). I'm giving 4/5 only because it wasn't super busy, but maybe it was? It took a little over 10 minutes to get the coffees and breads weren't toasted (by my request) so for some reason i thought it'd be quicker. disappointed, we've been here several times and always got great coffee & food but today our coffees had no flavor. we ordered a gorilla toast which is btw the most inconsistent item ever. whenever we order it, it's different EVERY SINGLE TIME. the cashier also added a cold ass egg when we didn't order that. $6 charge we didn't ask for. not to mention- there was no seasoning whatsoever on the toast. just a drizzle of balsamic...crappy toast & crappy coffee. and I never leave a negative review but this is so annoying as a coffee lover & someone who was just looking forward to their morning toast. read more

I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and mapped the closest coffee shops to me to get some work done. I am so glad I came across this place! Here is what I ordered: Tiramisu Latte: You have the option to do this drink with espresso or with matcha. I obviously chose to go the matcha route and I was impressed. I liked the matcha powder on top and the cream mixed well with the drink. Not too sweet but good flavor! There are a few tables and a bar top area. I was able to snag a table but all tables have outlets where you can plug in, and if you know me, you know this is a must for me when it comes to coffee shops! The service was great, as it was my first time here and the barista walked me through options on the menu. There is good music and it was not too loud, even for all the people in there. It is fairly dark inside, but for me that's never an issue. They even provide you with cushions and pillows to make working extra comfy. I had a solid experience here and will need to come back to try more of their drinks. This definitely ranks highly on my coffee shop list as of now! read more

This spot is located in a smaller plaza with a decent amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a nice modern setup with a more monotone meets hype type of vibe. There is about 5-6 tables for seating along with some bar seating and a couple tables outside as well. As for their menu, they have a great selection of different seasonal and signature drinks along with their variety of craft bites. First time hearing about this spot and oh my goodness the flavors were so delicious! I love banana and coffee together and this place just hit the spot. The decor inside and over all vibe was super chill and they had great music playing. I wish this location was atleast double its size because I would have loved to sit and hang because it is rather small. Service was fast fast and the crew working were very sweet! We ordered the Monkey Business iced latte and the Snow monkey iced latte with an extra shot of espresso. The drinks were absolutely delicious and like nothing I have ever had before. The banana is not over powering at all but the drink is on the sweeter side so I highly recommend paying for an extra shot! We also got the choco banana loaf and butter croissant and enjoyed that very much. We will be coming back for when the craving hits but I don't see this place as being on our regular rotation, it is much pricier here than our usual spots. We spent $30 on two drinks and 2 pastries but everything was very well made. Alot of niche spots like this aren't all that great these days either but luckily this one was! I highly recommend Ape Coffee! I got the Incredible Ape Matcha, and it was one of the BEST matcha lattes I have ever had. Usually, matcha lattes are too watered down/milky for my taste... this was absolutely perfect. Not too milky, high quality matcha, perfect sweetness level, and amazing flavor.
