No monkey business, just good vibes at Ape Coffee! Went totally bananas for their "golden ape" coffee this morning. What a treat! Perfectly bold brewed coffee infused with their own banana syrup. So good! What I love about their coffee is that it's not too sweet, too bitter, or too strong. It's perfectly blended to keep you coming back for more. We stopped by to grab some coffee while waiting for our cars to be washed, and were surprised at how busy it was. It's a small but happening place! And I can see why. Life is definitely better when you hang with the right troop, and I absolutely went ape for Ape Coffee this morning.
It did not look like anyone went into any of the stores, but when I walked into ape coffee it was really busy in a good way. The girl at the counter was nice and all of the baristas were busy consistently. It was a little tight in there at times with the amount of people, but there's seating if you get a spot. Drinks -monkey business: a good blend of flavors and sweetness -snow monkey: I wish it was a little more coffee tasing with more sweet cream on top Food: -gorilla toast: I think the toast needed more flavor such as seasonings or more balsamic glaze -ham and cheese croissant
One of my favorite spots whenever I'm in town! I love coming here for matcha and to study. The vibes are always good, and the service is super fast. Definitely one of my go to places!
sooo yummy I love ape coffee, they have one of my favorite banana matchas. The banana is definitely strong but once you get to that matcha it's nice and rich. I really love coming here, it is on the pricier side like around 8-9$. The ambiance is like darker inside and there's a good amount of seating, it has like a cool vibe to it. And the service is great!

Tried this cafe for the first time and it didn't disappoint! The only thing that threw me off was the ordering setup, the menu is on an iPad right at the counter, and you can't see the prices until you're placing your order. I tried the Monkey Business and it was really good. Service was pretty minimal, nothing rude, just the bare minimum. The ambiance is nice though, with a few tables if you want to sit and get some work done, plus a restroom for customers which is always a plus.
i stopped by this cafe for some matcha with my friends, and the mango cloud matcha sounded super yummy as a mango sticky rice with matcha cream top! i would say it is on the sweeter side, and the mango can overpower the matcha since it's such a prominent flavor, but i still enjoyed it a lot. it was really refreshing for a warm day! there was a good amount of seating here for studying and relaxing with friends, and the cafe was very grey in a cool way LOL the servers were also really nice and efficient. i could see myself coming back to try their other drinks soon!
Coffee here was excellent, I forgot the name of the coffee I ordered but it was seasonal and had coconut and chocolate sauce with it and I thought the mix tasted great and not overly sweet. The croissant was nice and warm too.
The only place i trust a banana latte from. Everywhere else doesnt compare... the vibes in there are cool too. Super chill and quiet, good place to do homework. Coffee is pricy but well worth it. Service is also nice and quick, lots of staff working the last few times I went.
The quality of the matcha & coffee is very very good!! I loved the moody atmosphere of Ape, and enjoyed the customer service & friendly experience. As well as the speedy service! We got the incredible ape matcha, which had great notes of banana and honey. I would've loved more of a banana flavor though! The matcha quality was one of the very best I've had! As well as the tiramisu latte which is a classic & soooo delicious! Definitely think you can't go wrong with either a coffee or matcha from here!

I wish I could relate more to the other reviews about this place being welcoming, my fiancée and I were a little let down by the customer service, the cashier that took our order was very dry, looked irritated, and didn't say anything to us when we let him know it was our first time there. Nonetheless, it is a nice and modern little coffee shop, the music is good and it's an overall good atmosphere. Our drinks are the positive side of this review, we absolutely loved the banana matcha and the tiramisu latte. The banana in the matcha isn't overly sweet and perfectly creamy, it tasted very smooth and we really enjoyed it. read more

Ape coffee was INCREDIBLE. I'm a huge fan of bananas and it was perfect. The espresso tasted delicious and wasn't watered down and the banana tasted fresh and not artificial. It wasn't too sweet, it was perfectly balanced. Mine was the brûlée coffee so they had flambed the top like crème brûlée and topped it off with a banana. Soooo good. Parking: I got 1 of the last 3 spots. Reference: I went on a Monday at 12pm. This coffee shop was like a co-working space, and the lot was a bit smaller. I'm sure there's street parking, but I didn't get to check. I ordered a pecan monkey bread + matcha cream banana bread (they were mid). I'm giving 4/5 only because it wasn't super busy, but maybe it was? It took a little over 10 minutes to get the coffees and breads weren't toasted (by my request) so for some reason i thought it'd be quicker. The barista was super kind, but otherwise the service was ok. read more
Someone recommend that they have good banana coffee so we give it a try. It was delicious. 4/5 The tiramisu coffee was just average for me. Not strong enough coffee and more sugary sweet 3/5. I was hoping to get the matcha version but they are no longer doing that. Price is high in my opinion compare to other coffee place. Parking is a little tight due to a small plaza. Overall, I would come back just for the banana coffee. read more
Cute little coffee shop! Service was over the top! the young lady who took my order was very patient and recommended a few drinks to my husband and I , on top of that they had a new food item they had us try to give feedback. I had the Snow Monkey, 8/10 I asked for it half sweetened and was still a little sweet , next time i'll be sure to ask for half the sweet cream. I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and mapped the closest coffee shops to me to get some work done. I am so glad I came across this place! Here is what I ordered: Tiramisu Latte: You have the option to do this drink with espresso or with matcha. I obviously chose to go the matcha route and I was impressed. I liked the matcha powder on top and the cream mixed well with the drink. Not too sweet but good flavor! There are a few tables and a bar top area. I was able to snag a table but all tables have outlets where you can plug in, and if you know me, you know this is a must for me when it comes to coffee shops! The service was great, as it was my first time here and the barista walked me through options on the menu. There is good music and it was not too loud, even for all the people in there. It is fairly dark inside, but for me that's never an issue. They even provide you with cushions and pillows to make working extra comfy. I had a solid experience here and will need to come back to try more of their drinks. This definitely ranks highly on my coffee shop list as of now! read more

If you love banana cream and freshly made bakery items, ape coffee is the perfect place! Their banana cream doesn't taste artificial at all and pairs so well with all the drinks! I absolutely love their house made bakery items, especially the matcha banana bread! I highly recommend dipping it in some banana cream, it's a match made in heaven what i ordered: * monkey business * incredible ape matcha * cookie butter latte (seasonal) * banana bread * matcha banana bread * egg sando * chocolate walnut cookie everything was so good and i'm definitely gonna go back again soon read more
Ape Coffee is going bananas with their drinks! This spot is serving up some of the best specialty lattes you can find in the OC area. This spot is located in a smaller plaza with a decent amount of parking spots. Inside, they have a nice modern setup with a more monotone meets hype type of vibe. There is about 5-6 tables for seating along with some bar seating and a couple tables outside as well. As for their menu, they have a great selection of different seasonal and signature drinks along with their variety of craft bites. Wifey and I opted to try the Matcha Tiramisu Latte and the Incredible Ape Matcha (Banana Matcha) for our weekend coffee run today. Both drinks had great flavor profiles with the right balance of sweetness. Overall, this spot should definitely be on your list to check out! With the banana matcha craze, we have tried many variations and the one at Ape Coffee was one of the best ones! All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Aesthetic is super cool! We got their banana cream coffee, which is their most popular drink, I'd give it 8/10! The banana cream was delicious! We also got their banana cream ceremonial matcha, and I'd give it 7.5/10, I just wish the matcha was stronger. Very welcoming staff and probably a good study spot too! They do have outlets! read more
First time hearing about this spot and oh my goodness the flavors were so delicious! I love banana and coffee together and this place just hit the spot. The decor inside and over all vibe was super chill and they had great music playing. I wish this location was atleast double its size because I would have loved to sit and hang because it is rather small. Service was fast fast and the crew working were very sweet! We ordered the Monkey Business iced latte and the Snow monkey iced latte with an extra shot of espresso. The drinks were absolutely delicious and like nothing I have ever had before. The banana is not over powering at all but the drink is on the sweeter side so I highly recommend paying for an extra shot! We also got the choco banana loaf and butter croissant and enjoyed that very much. We will be coming back for when the craving hits but I don't see this place as being on our regular rotation, it is much pricier here than our usual spots. We spent $30 on two drinks and 2 pastries but everything was very well made. Alot of niche spots like this aren't all that great these days either but luckily this one was! One thing I did really love is that if you sign up for rewards after you order they texted you the order and order tracking link! Super cool idea. read more
I tried the banana Matcha latte and it did not disappoint! The banana cream was so delicious and complemented the Matcha latte very well. The Matcha itself was rich and smooth. I was most excited for the Matcha Oreo cookie, but it felt sure of expectations. It was dry and crumbly. The Matcha loaf was good though! Very cool spot on the inside with a good amount of seating. Cool interior and vibe of the whole place. I got the monkey business, super good and they make the banana cream top in house! The shop is little more on the smaller side but there are a couple tables where people were doing work. The food also looks pretty good. Pricing of the drinks were great! Came here around 3pm on a Thursday to study and it wasn't super packed. The Banana Cream Matcha was amazing!! It's their signature and it was so creamy and did not take away the matcha flavoring. The staff members were so nice as well and near closing time, they asked us if we wanted free pastries since it would be a waste to throw away. The ambiance was dim lighting which I'm not sure about since I usually prefer a more well lit setting. But if you love banana and matcha, definitely come here to try their drinks! read more

HA. At my 2nd visit, staff offered a free pastry at the end showcasing fresh baked goodies on the daily. Stop by if you tryna kill time before heading up/down Chapman Avenida, worth it for the coffee boost 100. Ape Coffee Yelp Review Decided to try out Ape Coffee since I was in the area. Drink: 3/5 I tried the matcha latte, and it was decent, though not my favorite. (I felt like I had better drinks at comparable places like Moongoat). It had a nice presentation, but overall, the flavor didn't quite hit the mark for me. It felt watered down. I will come back to try other flavors. Service: 5/5 The service was pretty great. The staff was friendly and attentive. The facilities were clean, and parking was easy, which made the visit convenient and pleasant. The ambience is a bit darker than most coffee shops (it's in dim lighting) and the music is definitely curated the RnB, hip hop, and EDM hits so it might not be the quietest place to study. However, personally, I didn't mind all the background noise and the chairs and tables were very comfortable to sit in. I didn't get the chance to look for outlets. read more
I came here because I heard the hype and wanted to see if it's true. Personally , I think the vibe is cute and the concept is very on brand. But personally I didn't enjoy the coffee. The ambiance was nice, music was loud especially for a coffee shop. The staff was friendly enough. The coffee was okay. My issue was that I ordered a latte. I let the barista know i didn't want a latte but I was willing to pay for it. I wanted shots of espresso over ice with light milk. I was given a latte. Even after I specified exactly how much milk I wanted. I went back and asked for it to be remade and I was charged for a second drink. I had the barista throw away the first drink since it was basically all milk. The second drink was better. Still not worth what I paid. Definitely not going back. There's better options and better service elsewhere read more
Did not realize that I was a fan of banana coffee until I stumbled across this place. Usually my wife and I head to Phin Smith for some banana coffee but this is definitely the new go to! The service is fast, the staff are always very friendly and willing to help. The ambience is super cool if you're looking for a place to study or just grab a quick coffee/bite to go. We first came here upon their 1 year anniversary and they had a BOGO, along with a DJ inside and a Long Beach Lumpia vendor outdoors. The coffee was so good we returned the next day, Sunday to pick up more! Would def recommend this place ti anyone in the area and craving some banana flavored beverage. I hate to do this because I adore Ape coffee, but I need to share this. I'm a barista and I brought my glass 16oz cup like I normally do and ordered a Snow Monkey. Every time other than this, it has been filled to the top. This time the barista filled it up 3/4 full. When I told her it's the same size as the plastic ones they use, she had no resolution. After trying to explain a couple times that it's the same and it's never been filled this empty before, she said that it's the "standard size" but that's not possible if both cups are the same size. After her still not doing anything I left and tried my drink. My drink was very strong due to not having enough milk, it tasted like a 12oz. I drink Ape coffee as well as 16oz lattes all the time because I'm a barista and KNEW that this was not right. I'm hoping this review will get validation so that I want to come back to this location and make sure my drinks are always full like usual. Update: To prove this, I was able to add 4oz of milk to my cup without it overfilling! This was a simple solution I wish the barista could've made :/ read more

My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday morning around 11am and when we pulled in there was a line out the coffee shop. As we stood in the line it continued to grow it took us about 25 minutes to order and get our drinks. I ordered the vanilla iced latte and midnight ape ( blueberry milk ( I chose oat) + matcha cream top ) The vanilla iced latte was not sweet enough for me but was good 7/10. The midnight ape was good, my boyfriend liked it more than I did. I like the use of the fresh blueberries. The space in is quite big and lively. Would definitely be coming back for the midnight ape ! read more
TLDR: Overall coffee was solid, pastries were delicious, prepared food was meh- and prepared food service ends at 4pm for those that don't know. Stopped by on a whim as visitors from out of town needing a pick me up after a long day in the car. Banana bread was pretty good. There were some dry spots but overall delicious. Cloud Ape was perfect. Not overbearingly sweet and the coffee was not bitter at all. Gorilla Toast was kind of a let down, the bread didn't seem toasted at all. There was a lot of avocado and micro greens on my slice which was great. I somehow wound up with 2 of the avocado stem pieces in my portion. Which briefly excited me because I thought the toast needed something crunchy to elevate it (pumpkin seeds or something would be solid). And the sauce was tasty but added to the goopiness in my opinion. The place itself was a solid vibe. A few tables to sit at and work/study or enjoy your coffee/food. Service was quick. Staff seemed friendly but also kinda grumpy. We went about an hour before closing. It literally turned 4pm as I was ordering my food and the cashier kind of jarringly stated that food service ended at 4pm - which I totally understand, and appreciated him making an exception for me. The matcha here is solid! It was my first time here, mainly came here for the banana matcha (this has been trending all over) The matcha itself was super smooth, no bitterness at all! I usually get extra matcha, but with this one it was perfect as is. The banana cream had a slight artificial taste, and I didn't prefer the cinnamon on it. Cool little spot with a primate theme! Majority of the drinks have a banana twist. Definitely on brand and surprisingly good. It has a genuine banana flavor and not "fake". I ordered the Monkey Business coffee and really enjoyed it. My husband and niece tried the Incredible Ape matcha. Sadly, it didn't meet their standard. We also shared the Bonobo sandwich, and the chipotle aioli gave it the flavor it needed! The barista who took our order was very friendly. Overall, a nice place to check out if you're nearby. read more
This review is solely for the banana matcha. I had heard great things about it from people and through social media, but it was quite a letdown. The latte is called the "Incredible Ape Matcha" but it was hardly matcha and certainly not incredible. Incredible Ape Matcha: I opted for 75% sweet with oat milk which was unfortunately $1.00 upcharge. The latte comes standard with a banana cream top as well as honey drizzle. I asked for less banana cream as well because I wanted a good matcha flavor to shine through. When I received the drink, I tried the matcha on its own to taste the matcha flavor prior to mixing everything together. It was very grassy compared to other shops so beware if that matcha flavor profile is not your favorite. I noticed the latte still had a substantial amount of cream on top, taking up about 1/3 of the cup. I'm not sure how much more cream they would put if this was considered "less cream." The honey was totally unnecessary as it made the matcha extremely sweet and just pooled at the bottom of the cup even with constant stirring. I should have asked for 25% sweet but didn't realize the latte came with honey until after ordering. Once the cream was mixed in, the matcha was very hard to discern. The banana cream taste itself was good but that was really the only good thing about the drink. For $8, this drink was entirely not worth it. The shop and parking: The shop is located in a small plaza pretty close to the freeway entrance/exit. There's a strip of parking out front. I came on a weekday afternoon and there were several spots open so it wasn't hard to park. The shop itself is medium sized with some tables and chairs to sit down and get some work done if you wanted. The vibe was sleek with black walls and lots of ape branding, some merch. They sell pastries and food in addition to drinks. Service was nice. Overall: Did not enjoy the matcha, and the drink and price point was not worth it to come back. read more

I am a big fan of pumpkin creamy drinks so I was excited to try the one at ape coffee! I don't usually order oat milk in my coffee but I decided to give this one a try. wow. probably the best pumpkin coffee I've ever had. I usually get a pumpkin cream cold brew but this pumpkin spicy oat latte was so creamy and yummy. It was pretty pricey, $8 total with the cream top but well worth it! The shop inside is pretty dark and they had a few tables for people to chat or do work. They made the drink fairly quickly. Will definitely be back! Wish they could keep this drink year round. read more
I highly recommend Ape Coffee! I got the Incredible Ape Matcha, and it was one of the BEST matcha lattes I have ever had. Usually, matcha lattes are too watered down/milky for my taste... this was absolutely perfect. Not too milky, high quality matcha, perfect sweetness level, and amazing flavor. The banana cold foam was AMAZING. Tasted like real, fresh banana. The honey drizzle sprinkle of cinnamon elevates the flavor. If you are looking for a really god matcha, go here! I went to the Placentia location, and the service from Kate was excellent. She gave the best recommendations, was so sweet, and helpful. The place is small, but so cute inside. Banana Matcha 10/10. Perfect balance between sweetness and matchaness. Avocado toast: 2/10. Toast is not toast, it's soggy bread. The avocado is basically guac and the hard boiled eggs are rubbery. The whole meal was a horrible mushy texture in my mouth and there's no flavor I'm sorry. Ambiance and service was great tho:) Will def be back for matcha!!!! But something needs to be done bout that toast lol. read more

Parking kind of sucks, so prep to wait! But this place is kind of a grab-and-go, so you could get lucky, the way we did (even on a Sunday afternoon! #BLESSED) My boyfriend's parents got an avocado toast and a sandwich, and they agreed both were delicious. I stuck with a matcha tiramisu iced latte and it was so good. The cream on top were perfect. I need to go back for the food! The ambiance seems overwhelming, but the line goes quick and the service here is great! read more

I decided to try this out since it was around here. Would definitely try this place again and recommend this to anyone. I got the monkey business latte with an everything croissant. This was tasty and delicious. This place was busy and I walked here. There is parking in front of the coffee shop but may be limited. I got my croissant and then got my drink 10 minutes later. save time and order online for pickup!!! i didn't know the line was gonna be so long, and by the time we were 3 parties from the register, we overheard the cashier say you could order online. so i did and got my order in before a couple parties ahead of me, but wish i knew before waiting in line 25 min! i got the banana brûlée matcha latte. the banana cream top was spot on, loved the flavor and bits of banana. but the aftertaste of the matcha was pretty bitter. i thought the sweetness from the banana and caramel would blend a little better with the matcha, but the flavors were somehow really distinct. i would def try it with espresso if im ever in the area again. it was super chaotic inside. there are some tables inside and out, but most everyone seated was there for the long haul doing work, so everyone else was crowded around the pickup area. total time for us to line up and get drinks was 45 min on a sunday at 3:30pm. read more
