Location and hours of operation for Saturday morning farmers market in downtown Orange.
    Mary M.

Best bread around... only place I find their bread these days is the Saturday morning farmers market in Orange by Chapman University off Palm in old town Orange. The line is always long for OC Baking Company so get there early. Our favorites are the huge loaf of French bread and the cranberry walnut bread. I usually by two or three loaves of each and freeze it all in smaller portions in zip lock bags. So many bakeries have skimped on ingredients and filled their bread with fillers and who knows what else. I hope OC Bakery never does that. They have a LOT of options. Mostly they sell their bread to businesses. Only Saturday to the public and as far as I know, only at the one location. During the insane shutdown they opened their warehouse to the public weekly. It was great. Try their bread!

I have been on a hunt for the perfect brioche loaf that resembles the brioche Sqirl uses in their famous ricotta jam toast. I have finally found it. Yes, thank you OC Baking Company for making the brioche pan loaf because it is exactly what I'm looking for! I don't have a photo of my finished product, but I was able to recreate Sqirl's famous ricotta jam toast at home or at least very close to it and I'm so happy because I don't have to drive all the way to LA for an incredibly expensive piece of toast. The marble rye loaf was also delicious! It's got pumpernickel which adds to the flavor profile of the rye itself, perfect for toast with salted butter or any sandwiches! Their loaves are huge and prices are very cheap for the quality and amount you get. For a loaf a bread, I have enough for my family and to share with two other friends! OC Baking Company sells so many varieties of breads so there's definitely something for everyone if you come early enough before they sell out! Another thing to note is that they bring in other vendors to host a pop up when they open on Fridays, making it easier for you to do a one stop shop to try a variety of things. :)

*Visited during Covid-19* I had found out about OC Baking Company through Reddit back in March 2020, and it was interesting to check this place out! Apparently, OC Baking usually sells their bread to restaurants and sells their bread during farmer's market in Orange but opened to the public so that the community can get their bread and support local. They have some vendors that are also here as well, so you can get a bunch of stuff in one place! I had their sourdough bread which was a HUGE loaf for $6. I actually got lucky and went during their BOGO time slots and actually got two loaves for $6. I went back and actually started trying their jalapeno cheddar. Their bread is fresh and so good that I may have realized that the other breads I've been getting at asian bakeries may not be as good hahaha. Only bad thing is that their jalapeno cheddar isn't consistent; sometimes it's more of the bread, other times you get more ingredients and it's so much better haha. Go check this place out and follow them on Instagram: ocbakingcompany and check out their updates/vendors that are there! They recently got Bosscat Kitchen there and I'm tempted to go back again and get more bread too.... hmm.

During this COVID shutdown, OC Baking Co is opened to the public, with pop up restaurants such as Crema Cafe and Mini Donuts

Thank you OC Baking Company for helping out during this COVID19 containment. Normally this is not opened to the public, but owner Dean Kim opened this for the community. Not only can you get bread here, but Dean has partnered with other vendors to make this a one stop place for food. As of April 29, the store is opened Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8:00 to 5:00. Hours can change without notice, so follow him on IG @OCBakingCompany and sometimes he has BOGO deals if you know the secret word of the day. Here's a list of current vendors (on IG) @jonescoffee @adyaoc #breakofdawnrestaurant @sessionswestcoastdeli @cremacafe @calidumplingdelivery @toastamesa @missminidonuts @villaromarest

During Covid times, I have never worked as much as I have and cook as much as I cooked. But when I needed a day off, or to get terrific eats for myself and others (and bread), I come here. Master baker Dean Kim doe NOT disappoint in his baking. I have tried his sourdough, his french white, but the brioche is what keeps coming me back! I also came here and visited a few Chef friends and got their creations. Shachi Mehra from Adya (yummy Tikka Masalas and Samosas), Max from Sessions West Coast Deli (Flavorful Pastramis), Crema Cafe's baked goods (Oh gosh those beef pies were amazing), Cali Dumplings (won-tons were awesome). Tucker Family Farms, Jones Coffee Roasters, Toast Kitchen and Bakery, Chef Toys, Miss Mini Donuts, Bosscat (Miss this place for their happy hour!), Chelas, Mix Mix Kitchen. Food is setup on tables, so you'll need to bring your own bag(s) if you are buying a few things like me. Parking here can be on the streets or in their lot. Just don't park at their neighbor' spots or your car can be towed. Bring cash for OC Baking and cash/credit for others. Mask is required for entrance. Starting today, they will only have these pop-ups on Fridays. I will miss seeing all my chef friends in one place but am happy to see the next steps in this crisis so everyone can finally move on. So if you ever want to support local, this is where you should come on your Fridays from 8am-5pm. Thank you everyone that has been here, (and you too Dean!). I will visit your restaurants soon!

IF YOU WANT FRESH BREAD, THEY GOT IT. As of this post, only open on Fridays 8-5pm. Bring CASH, a bag to hold your packaged bread, and a mask! Temperature checks at the door. I love handcrafted bread that doesn't taste like whatever they're making at Ralph's (full offense). If you follow their instagram, you get almost daily updates on what they're serving, any BOGO deals (usually around 12-2), and what the other vendors are cooking. Got there 11am and got lucky with parking. They really only have like 6 spaces before you have to park on street. IMMEDIATELY TURN RIGHT INTO A WAREHOUSE LOOKING AREA AFTER GROVE (if you're coming off the 91E on Glassell). Half the bread racks were still full of every flavor. Obviously the Brioches and Jalapeno Cheddars were dwindling so definitely come a little early if you want those. The wheats, sourdoughs, multigrains, rye, white, etc, still had a lot left. Most loaves were $5 and they're really big. Like double the grocery store size. I got sourdough loaf and a garlic parmesan bread. Both super fluffy and very flavorful. Other vendors were available like an Indian cuisine to-go, a dessert pastry table, prepared meats, mini donuts, and dumplings. Unfortunately, no sushi this time around BUT YOU BET I'LL BE COMING BACK. Everyone was super nice and very wholesome. Definitely recommend!!

4.75/5 STARS Attended the popup hosted by OC Baking Company which usually happens on the last Friday of every month from 8-2pm. This popup had about 5-6 local vendors. My cousin really wanted me to get some sausages from Nok Kitchen which was one of the vendors there for that day but then I saw many people buying bread left and right from OC Baking Company. Tempted by my love for carbs, I ended up getting some as well. I ended up getting a cheese jalapeno brioche ($6) and a small loaf of sourdough ($5) for my cousin. Everything was so good and tasty and I would portions were so huge! Since they do not use perservatives, they recommended freezing the bread the same day for maximal freshness. Popup and Bakery requires mask, a bag to hold your bread, and is cash only for the most part! Only downside was parking was a huge mess since the bakery is located in a warehouse district although I saw some street parking. Best to go early to get all the good stuff! Will return when I finish my current stash of bread and explore more pop-ups which is the true gem here (: this bakery's bread can also be found at local farmers market on the weekend!

**Review for the OC Baking pop-up** Before restaurants shut down to patrons in March, the only way you could enjoy Dean Kim's bread was at many of the amazing delis (OC wine mart!) and restaurants that use him as their primary bread source, or you could pick up loaves at the Orange Homegrown Farmers Market. As businesses had to close and supermarket shelves lay bare, Dean came up with an innovative idea: start selling his breads direct to the public and use his baking facility to host a pop-up market for his food hospitality friends to sell as well. It started half days, Monday through Friday, then full days on certain days of the week - and now that restaurants have reopened - the pop-up is now only on Fridays from 8-5pm. Since pandemic times, I've only bought bread at OC baking. We grab a few loaves each time and stock them in our freezer - with daily fresh baked bread, there are no preservatives so you can't leave these babies on the counter! Other businesses that I have supported there include Break of Dawn, Crema Cafe, ADYA OC, Cali Dumpling Delivery and Sessions West Coast Deli - but there are other vendors such as Miss Mini Donuts, Toast Costa Mesa, Bosscat Kitchen & Libations... it's truly a one-stop shop to get your hands on some delicious foods from some local establishments and keep them in the game when this all blows over. Masks, bags, and cash are required and a volunteer does take your temperature upon entry. Signs indicate social distancing and they will limit the number of guests inside of the warehouse to maintain distance. Some vendors do take Venmo or credit card for cashless transactions as well - but not all. If you want to support local businesses and get GREAT food in the process, look no further than OC Baking Co pop-up - thank you Dean for bringing this to our community!

Love their pop-up events and support for the community/first responders. Due note they've supported many worthy charity groups prior to pandemic. My cousin and her coworkers at St. Joe's love their products. Their breads are tasty but do stick them in the fridge soon as you don't want to sadly throw them away due to mold. Made many excellent grill cheese sandwiches with their sourdough. My uncle loves their marble rye. I don't think they have a bread I don't like. I love treasure hunting TJ Maxx style for their weekly speciality ones, which usually aren't labeled but those are few in supply and lately people have caught on and show up early to snag. So the earlier you go the better the selection. I trek from Costa Mesa on my Friday's off. Just ask the staff and they will tell you what the item is. Payment is cash only. As with the pandemic, wear your mask and don't throw a hissy fit as I saw a grown man, do so in front of his daughter and grandchildren, who were mature enough to wear a mask. And wear it properly, if I can see your nose hairs and nostrils, you're not wearing it correctly. Majority of their customers are respectful and follow the guidelines. Due note they recently start doing temperature checks. Bring a bag too. And observe parking situation, I've never had a problem finding a spot and if you're like me during this quarantine, we could use the walk/steps.

This was a huge score...happened to be driving in the area and randomly searched for a bakery. It turns out this place has a pop-up collective sort of bakery experience the last Friday of every month... There were breads, pastries, Indian food, Japanese food, coffee, and a handful of other items. I was definitely surprised... The prices were what would be expected for a pop-up shop type experience. I bought a bunch of different things, including bread and pastries and some of the Indian food... I have experience eating at the ADYA restaurant, and they were selling a small menu of items like baked pie and samosas... I brought it home and cooked it and it was pretty amazing. The pastries were also great but what I liked most was the overall attitude and energy in the building... Everybody was super excited and it was like a miniature farmers market with a lot of friendly faces. I would definitely be coming back here as many Fridays as I can

These loaves were huge. The results were just beautiful to behold.

The OC Baking Co is an outfit like none other. Dean Kim's business runs on heart, altruism and some sort of ancient mother dough that assures me I'll never fully avoid carbohydrates. The baguettes make amazing sandwiches and the brioche makes a French toast like no other. After traveling to France and having their fresh baguettes, many years ago, I wasn't into bread when I got back. It wasn't until I had Dean's French loaves that I really felt the same satisfaction. I'm normally the type to barely tolerate bread and I rip half the bread from my sandwich, using it more as a handle than as a vital part of the meal. With OC Baking Co bread, I enjoy every bit. Having taken a tour and learning of his creative process, I am especially impressed. He feeds the homeless what he can and has his leftovers turned into food for cows. He thinks of all God's creatures and is quite the caring genius.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
