Anyhow, I saw that they've upgraded their menus on their TVs. So I decided to take some pics of it.

You will almost never catch me eating sweets on purpose. This all changed during an unplanned day date with my lady that turned into one of those unexpectedly great days, and it started at Filo. Not the easiest place to spot from the circle. You have to actually look for it. Do that. It's worth the discovery. Nice cozy, relaxed feel inside too. We shared the kunafa with baklava crunch ice cream on top. Wow. Heaven. Warm, crispy, stretchy, with cold ice cream melting into the pastry. I couldn't stop eating it and secretly wished I hadn't agreed to share. The whole thing tasted like an experience. I also had a scoop of strawberry ice cream too, which is not a sentence I expected to write about myself this weekend. I only ever touch ice cream when I need it as an offering to calm a certain someone down when she, umm, never mind...back to the pleasant day... The lady running the place was amazing. You could tell she actually loves making this stuff and loves watching people lose their minds over it. That energy is contagious and adds to the experience. This is the kind of place you remember. It snuck up on me and fed me something so ridiculously good I won't soon forget it and will be back to try more of the menu. Highly, highly recommended.

It's a small little shop, but they have a great selection of pastries as well as ice cream. I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so I picked up the banana cream pie, tres leches, a small peanut butter cookie, cinnamon bun bar, and blueberry cheesecake pie. I loved having so many keto-friendly sweets to choose from. The girl at the register was also very friendly and shared with me that they recently opened another keto bakery location in Los Angeles, which is exciting! Definitely worth checking out if you've been seeing them all over Instagram like I have.

The quality has just been so utterly consistent. These baked goods truly taste rustic and homemade; I believe the freshness is guaranteed and everything is baked daily. I always buy the shuku pan to make sandwiches my daily lunches and the country bread/sourdough for my avocado toast and breakfasts. The sandwiches made in-house are also recommended especially the chicken katsu and the assorted ham/tuna/egg salad. I like the croquette and egg salad in a bun especially. All of these are savory and flavorful yet subtle. I also recommend any of the pastries including curry pan, melon pan, and of course the strawberry croissants but beyond that I also really like the strawberry banana croissant and blueberry croissant. There is also a selection of drinks made in-house café-style as well as bottled Japanese drinks. The staff are friendly and I really like the space even though it's small. You can find seating outside especially if you avoid rush hours. Of all the three locations, this one is my favorite because it's so rustic and historic and really fits in with the overall vibe and aesthetic of Old Town Tustin and the El Camino Real. Please check this bakery out; it's one of the best in all of SoCal in my opinion.

The portions across the board are generous, high-quality, and worth every penny.  As you can see from my previous review, their chicken katsu is one of my faves. There is a kiosk available from 9:30 to 5 pm, where you can now order and pay for their katsu items. I believe the Chicken Katsu Curry was around $17.99. You need to show the receipt when they call your name. I also picked up a couple of sandwiches. The Tuna Butter Roll hits the spot for a quick, comforting lunch. It is packed with creamy tuna, cucumber, and tomato slices--at just around $3.50, it's an incredible value. The Sandwich Box assortment (egg, ham, turkey, tuna) gives you a little bit of everything, making it perfect for a satisfying light lunch on the go. If you're looking for hearty portions at reasonable prices, Cream Pan continues to hit the mark every single time.
