I was meeting up with a couple of friends and wanted to surprise them with drinks from Makenna Koffee. Since I don't believe they been to Makenna before. I ordered the Honey Matcha for one friend who really enjoyed it. Since Matcha is one of her favorite drinks. And I got a strawberry smoothie for the other who really like it since her favorite fruit are strawberries. I got the North Shore white chocolate, and chocolate macadamia nut blend iced. Which was sweet and delicious. I had to walk in to order since the drive thru was way backed up. There was only one customer in line. I placed my order and took a seat. I really like the layout and there is merchandise you can purchase. The employees were engage and provided great customer service. I only had to wait five mins or so for my drinks. The employee offered a drink carrier and place stickers on the drinking holes to keep fluid from leaking. It's also nice that they extended their hours from 5pm to 8pm. If you like your coffee drinks sweet and not taste like coffee, this is the spot for you. Similar to Dutch Bros or Better Buzz. Not my cup of coffee since I prefer to taste the coffee or espresso in my drink. Not a Hawaiian owned coffee shop, but Hawaiian themed which means Hawaiian themed drink names and beachy vibes? I never did find out if they used Hawaiian/Kona coffee or what exactly was their "Maui Milk". Service was friendly and wait time was longer than expected, but they were busy both inside and the drive thru. They have a parking lot and you might want to consider parking a little further in the lot or you might get stuck if the drive thru line gets long, which it does! read more

Makenna Koffee is a great addition it OC! This coffee shop is so cute inside, has a quick drive thru, and the sweetest baristas. It is super similar to Dutch Bros in my opinion, as they have coffee, blended drinks, energy drinks, teas, and more. On this trip I tried their banana chocolate macadamia nut latte with Maui milk (basically a creamer that tastes like vanilla ice cream). VERY SWEET COFFEE - very similar style to Dutch Bros. If I came back, I'd definitely do 1/2 sweet and I'm typically someone who already likes their coffee sweet and I already had an extra espresso shot added to my drink! I got the NORTH SHORE iced latte with a 3rd shot (they offer the 3rd shot for free - which is nice)! The drink was still yummy end enjoyable just way too sweet for my liking. I also ordered an ALMOND CROISSANT which was delicious, flaky, and a good sized serving. NO INDOOR BATHROOMS. But there is a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating at this location as well as a SMALL DRIVE THRU. They do have a LOYALTY program here which is nice to earn points towards eventually redeeming a free drink. Overall a great experience but I'd still rate 4 out of 5 stars because there's no restroom and because of the drink quality. The workers were so incredibly nice, from the warm hello as soon as you walk in to the sincere thank you and well wishes given as they handed off my drinks, every person you interact with has such a positive energy and it makes a huge difference. I ordered a Cabo San Lucas and it was really tasty, not overly sweet but lovely flavor, it doesn't have a strong coffee taste so if you like your drinks strong I recommend adding a shot. Okay, I need to update my review. I have since been back twice. Both times I asked for light ice. Apparently this is a foreign concept to this place as both times it was not understood. Today, I went through their drive through. I ordered a Ben latte with light ice, 16 ounce. The girl taking my order asked if I wanted 50% ice or a quarter. I stated 50%. She then repeated my order and confirmed it was 50% ice. When I arrived at the window, i watched as they put in an extra scoop of ice to overflowing. What? I let them know and they dumped out some ice and just filled it with more milk. Then they said sorry, the girl taking the order never mentioned about the ice. This, unfortunately, has happened twice. Apparently light ice is a difficult concept. The ability to make my drink (especially for the price), not just a cup of ice, is not worth it to me. I will go elsewhere. read more

I really love latte with macadamia milk and although this is my first time trying at this place, I tried their signature, which is Maui latte and Maui milk is their signature milk even though I'm not sure if it's using macadamia milk or not but let's pretend it is. I think the sweetness is OK. It could be a little less sweet. Maybe next time I would ask for a less sweet like 75% but other than that it's perfect. I can't wait to come back to try their other drinks because they have a pretty big menu for a coffee shop. Hopefully, they will expand their food menus because I love Hawaiian pastries too. If you don't want to read more of my review, this place is basically a Hawaiian Dutch Bros. If that place is your cup of tea, you'd like it here. I mean, I understand the hype: cute interior, cute drink names, cute logos and designs, and a nicely lit interior. If I had to choose between Starbucks, Dutch Bros, and this place, I'd come here. If I could choose a coffee shop with real brews, I would go there and wouldn't come here. The coffee is subpar and full of milk and sugar like the other reviews have said. I couldn't taste any coffee beans. I had ordered the Cabo San Lucas after being recommended it. I'd love it if I wasn't a coffee fanatic. I'm really disappointed with how much sugar and syrups were put into it. My fiancé got the shaken espresso and even he was off out by it. We also tried their sausage burrito, which was not worth it. The service is also okay. I liked the cashier the most, but the workers here don't smile at you even when you excuse yourself for being in their way. If you're looking for good coffee, this isn't it. If you like your syrup with a splash of coffee, this is the place for you. I'm not much of a sweet latte/coffee person. This is the Hawaiian version of Dutch bros. They have a variety of drinks and flavors that it is a bit overwhelming. Service was great and fast. The bar was filled with plenty of baristas so it pretty efficient. They have some food options like a breakfast burrito as well but small portioned. There isn't a lot of seating inside and there is some seating outside with umbrellas. However I came on a windy day so there was limited seating inside. Got here around 10 on a Thursday morning and the drive thru line wasn't crazy out there driveway like the last time I attempted to come here. I got the Cookie Butter and the Maui latte. I'm not sure if the drinks were too full or the lids weren't on well, cause after I turned out of the driveway, my drinks started to drip on the sides into my cup holders getting coffee all over. Anyway, the cookie butter and the Maui latte both tasted very similar except the cookie butter drink had the hint of cookie butter afterwards. At first it's a bit too sweet for my liking, but the coffee seems very strong. I'm not sure if it's the sugar or the coffee, but even as I write this, I feel like I wanna run a marathon . Prepare to be a bit overwhelmed as they have a ton of menu offerings and customizable options. The staff was super friendly and nice as they took and delivered orders. I had a basic iced soy latte with honey cause I wasn't trying to sugar load. After a couple sips felt the espresso was extremely dominating so I asked for a short drizzle of Maui milk on top. They made the addition no problem and it made all the difference. Was super happy with my drink which was espresso forward with a slightly creamy consistency. You know a shop is poppin when cars line up around the parking lot and from the street like an In & Out. This place has been busy since it opened and I thought it would take me months to finally get to try it. My husband surprised me by getting one before work yesterday. It was the day before Valentine's Day so he got the special "Berry in Love." It was as sweet as he is. I see a lot of options on the menu that I want to try. My litmus test for a good coffee place is how they make a Spanish latte or a regular hazelnut latte. Those are my go-to drinks and I like them strong. The lobby is open...I repeat...the lobby is open!! There are cute couches and tables in the lobby. Plus the additional outdoor seating. I tried to go grand opening weekend and it was wayy too crazy busy. I finally had the opportunity to try it now that hype has died down a little. The inside seating was open and it was super cute inside. The line inside appeared to be short than the drive thru line. Finally got a chance to stop on by and try their drinks. As you step in through the door, you are greeted by the workers. Everyone seems very nice and polite. Very helpful if you have any questions, regarding the drinks; and also are very attentive. We ended up just getting one drink, but they do have a huge menu, so dont be afraid to ask for suggestions. We ended up going with the cookie butter supreme, the Barista working, helped us decide. It was a great choice! It was absolutely delicious. Not overly sweet and had great flavor. Def a 10/10! I was super excited to come and try out this coffee place. It's been on my to do list since it had open and today was finally the day. And it was such a great experience. Everyone was very welcoming. The service was great. The lady at the cash register started a conversation with me and she was very positive and bubbly, my drink came out really fast and the quality of the drink was super good. I am not a huge fan, bitter tasting coffee and I felt like this was a good mixture of sweet, salty and roasted. Overall really great experience. The shop was really cute. I love the Hawaiian theme! Tried Makenna Koffee today and overall had a really good experience. I ordered the Surfer Girl and my partner was planning to get a cold brew, but they had just run out by the time we ordered. It wasn't a big deal at all though. The guy working there was super nice and replaced it with another drink, which still tasted great. The service really stood out. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and they even gave us a free coffee for next time because of the inconvenience, which was really appreciated. It's their opening week. It's been getting all the talk and hype on social media. We waited on a Sunday afternoon in the drive-thru line which took us an hour from the time we started to when we got our drinks. The workers seemed energetic and pumped. It was good vibes all around. It gives you the feel of Dutch Bros but instead of the windmill you're swapping that for the palm tree. The cold brew was a bit too acidic for my preference on the coffee. But do like the variety of choices they have with lavender and misc choices. Their "Maui milk" is also a signature for their items. This place originated in Simi Valley. First timer here! It was such a great inviting open space with plenty of lounge seating, super comfortable too. The interior is aesthetically pleasing, great for a work space or group hangouts. The staff are all friendly and sociable! I love that they also make practice trial drinks offering them for free to the customers lounging around and are openminded to learn and grow from customers personal ratings. I'm so glad I finally got to visit this Makenna Koffee location. The first time I visited a Makenna Koffee was in Simi Valley when my friend first put me on. I was so sad that I couldn't get it more often but I guess my prayers have been answered because OC now has one & I love this location. It's mainly a drive thru but it does have a cute indoor seating area with cute, simple decor. They played nice upbeat music so it's a great place to meet your friends for coffee. Service was quick and friendly. They have a great menu with sooo many different options. In February they launched a Valentine's menu & I fell in love with the love shot. It's an iced strawberry white chocolate shaken espresso sooo yummy. Makenna's is my go to in this area & would recommend it to EVERYONE. read more

Before going, I saw a lot of reviews saying their drinks lean sweet, so I tried to plan accordingly. I ordered the macadamia nut cold brew thinking it would still have a strong coffee flavor since... you know... cold brew. Unfortunately, I could barely taste the coffee. It tasted good, but it honestly just reminded me of flavored milk. Like delicious macadamia nut milk... but milk nonetheless.
