As a chef , I was quite surprised by the all over menu choices, understanding the vibe and seeing a new place with prices for items that are poorly prepared and cheap ingredients was a big issue, the quality of the food lacked flavor , tacos (steak) over cooked and chewy , fries burned to a crisp but put on my plate anyway and my sons plate too , my burger had bacon although it wasn't listed on the menu and I don't eat pork , and my friends Reuben was priced like it it should have had more than two slices of meat on it ! The quality of ingredients wasn't great and to advertise you sell espresso and cappuccino but there is no machine and your using powder ? Why even bother . Really enjoyed having brunch here with a friend and daughter. I had the chicken, spinach and Swiss omelette with potatoes. The potatoes were so good you didn't even need ketchup. The portions were perfect and I didn't leave here overly stuffed. My daughter got the pancakes and my friend got the lox with cream check and a bagel. Everything was delicious. The wine selection wasn't great and only had one white wine which was ok. There is not tons of seating and no outdoor seating is available, but we got in quickly with the last table open. Service was pretty good but we did have to follow up and ask for item a couple times. (Refill on water, condiments and reminder to bring the wine we ordered). Street parking is a must as it is in Broadripple! I love how they updated the space from the previous occupation. It's so nice and it looks so cute! The service was good, they were very friendly, I wish that they would have been a bit more attentive or they could've left the water carafe with us, they didn't offer us more water until we were almost done with our meal, and as someone who drinks a lot of water, it was a little rough for me. Other then that, I can't complain, we got the Mole Poblano with Pollo Enchiladas and steak tacos, I liked the enchiladas, they were a bit sweet because of the mole, but honestly, it was so similar to my grandmas mole, it made me miss her! The tacos were good, I felt like they had plenty of flavor, I was intrigued that in the description of them it came with guacamole, but when they came out it had a green sauce which I assume it was made with avocado. I like that there are so many differences within a culture and trying out a variation of something was nice. I would recommend to come here for brunch, they have a good selection. read more

Early lunch with fabulous service! The cappuchino was great, a bit large, but every bit tasty. I went straight up breakfast platter - pancackes, eggs and sausage. Just what I ordered and nice presentation. My lunch companion had the burger with jalapenos and it looked great and her evaluation was excellent. The serving of bacon, cheese and jalapenos was generous and the fries disappeared quickly. I'll be back to explore the menu. read more

While walking the Monon Trail I stopped by for some quick breakfast before I continued my walk. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, American/Mexican cuisine. They had a large drink menu from coffee, lattes, smoothies, sodas, horchata, fresca, and alcoholic beverages. I had the horchata and the fresca! The horchata was authentic and sweet. The fresca was alright. Not a fan of the flavor (I think it's kiwi) I wished it was strawberry (classic fresca flavor). The drinks were FANTASTIC I finished them before I got my food. Only complaint I have about the drinks is that it was probably 2 measuring cups full, smaller than a kids drink for $6. I understand that fresca and horchata are pretentious and time consuming to make (I've made them before) but $6 isn't reasonable to me. My partner got the French toast meal, it was good nothing out of the ordinary 10/10. I got the Chorizo Burrito with spicy sauce. This burrito is the best burrito I've had in my entire life. I don't even like half the ingredients in this burrito but for some reason I thought I'd try something different and I'm glad I did. Definitely will be coming back! Only complaint I have other than the drink size was that there was no sign that said "seat yourself". We were standing around looking for a host and hadn't gotten sat. Later I realized we seat ourselves. I noticed a lot of the reviews were about a negative experience but I don't think they read the room - there is ONE server that is also the busser and the host. I'm always attentive to the service in a restaurant. Some people expect high end service and some people just want their food and their server to leave them alone. We came here on a random Sunday morning for brunch. We had intended to go to another local restaurant, but the wait was pretty long, so we walked over to try this new place and we are lucky we did! There was no wait to get in and they could seat our party of 4 quickly without a reservation. I ordered the Sunrise Breakfast Bowl and had a cup of coffee with it. I thought it was very healthy, filling and flavorful! It comes with a side of cilantro cream sauce, and it was great. My boyfriend got the Chorizo Burrito, and he had no complaints about it. Our entire table ordered from the breakfast menu and all of the items were solid. In addition to breakfast, they also seem to have a lot of great lunch and dinner options featuring some Peruvian food and other South American Cuisine as well some typical American food as well. Amazing hole in the corner of north downtown's easy going district next to the Monon Trail, Dad's Kitchen looked right for our brunch fix because it was open New Year's Eve. My favorite, The Garden Table and others, had disappointed me being closed by three but we were immediately thrown overboard into the sea of flavor adventure! Wow what a unique blend of Peru and Mexico, the name is a bit inspired for appetite or the cuisine here but what a treat; they brought out fresh Fresca flavors for us to try while we waited. The cucumber, pineapple, and lime fresca is amazing. We went for just two dishes. Could not believe how special this experience made our final day of 2022, the avocado toast was perfect. However the Peruvian fried rice with beef was full on fireworks, New Year worthy tender serloin and spices hitting notes we have never had before. Few dishes have brought on warmth and endearing memories like an old grandparent's home. There is rich and wonderful heritage cooked up in this kitchen. Atmosphere is bright, simple, and clean. I tried Dad's Kitchen while in Broadripple stopping to pick something up at Artifacts just across the street. I really didn't know what to order and I was a little overwhelmed with the large selection since everything sounded good! I ended up with a modified Pollo Saltado (described on the menu as ; chicken stir fry Peruvian style, served over French fries & side of rice - mine did not have fries but was mixed in with rice). It was delicious and ample for 2 people. I brought it home to eat and despite the 20 minute drive it was still nice and hot when I got home. I stopped in about 4:30 and received my take out order in about 10 minutes. Parking is a bit tricky but that's typical for Broadripple. This was my first visit to Dad's but it won't be my last. The food is amazing and there are so many options! Something for everyone! Love the location in the heart of Broad Ripple. Now to the even greater part... the service is incredible. They are fun and offer good suggestions. I had a hot chocolate and the owner wanted me to also try it the way he makes it so when I finished mine he brought me a sample of a hot chocolate made with oat milk. Second time ordering from Dad's, and this time they got it perfectly right. (First order was accidentally switched with another carry out order). I had the house burger with fries, and by husband had the Lomo Saltado. We called to order and it was ready in 10 minutes. Upon arrival I had to drool over the amazing case of sweets- I was able to control myself and not order one of everything, but it's a good thing Valentine's day is right around the corner! My burger was excellent with the sliced avocados, pico, and cheese. The Lomo Saltado was also good and smelled amazing. Looking forward to trying more options and sweets. read more

Fight me but I think Broad Ripple needs more breakfast options that serve alcohol and aren't boujee. This place fits in perfect for that exact reason and there is a huge window to people watch while you sip your mimosa at a very reasonable price. The staff was attentive and let us know of new menu options that hadn't been updated on their menu yet. New items include chilaquiles that I was so close to ordering. When it comes to breakfast I am as basic as they come. I'm happy with eggs, a meat, toast & hash browns/home fries every time. Which leads me into the breakfast sandwich. Eggs with bacon & american cheese on chibatta. That chibatta was FRESH and delicious. Choose it. We also had the mimosas- good but a tad heavy on the OJ for me...but I also would be happy with a out 2 drops of OJ. Pancakes with eggs & bacon. Pancakes were great! As we were about to grab the check our server let us know they had chocolate croissants fresh out of the oven so obviously we had to try that as well! It was amazing. I'm a rene's girl for savory croissants but this was something I will be back for! Also a ton of taco options, sandwiches and it looked like some peruvian food, if I'm not mistaken. When I first heard of Dad's Kitchen, I was genuinely curious about what sort of cuisine it would provide. It's nondescript name offered all sorts of possibilities and come to find out, it's perfect for the restaurant. Dad's Kitchen offers a variety of flavors, dishes, and types of meals. Peruvian in its roots, DK's main speciality appears to be traditional American breakfast. This is highlighted by the quantity of items on the menu and the bulk of its social media posts pertaining to the first meal of the day. However as I mentioned above, there's more than what meets the eye. The menu also has sandwiches, burgers, Mexican tacos, quesadillas, and Peruvian dishes. Picking up dinner there also presented me with an array of yummy looking dessert goods as well. My experience with Dad's was a good one. I enjoyed talking to the owner while paying. The site is tastefully decorated and very clean. Most importantly, the food was tasty too. My wife and I had the fish tacos and the lomo saltado. The former of which was great! The latter was good, but not mind blowing. True to its name the saltado was a little salty but flavorful nonetheless. I think in the future, I would swap out the fries for something else, for I'm not sure how it complements the rice and meat. Overall, Dad's Kitchen is a great addition to the Broad Ripple neighborhood because it fits the mold of being family owned & offering unique specialities. It may be trying to put its eggs in one too many baskets, but it's new, it's the pandemic, and I think restaurant owners right now are doing what it takes to draw in as many customers as possible. I know personally I'll continue supporting this restaurant, and I look forward to witnessing how it it'll grow and evolve in the future. read more

So it's a Sunny day in Ripple and I'm up for some local cuisine and Dad's is new and calling my name and is definitely a locally-owned establishment.. Beef was stewed and flavorful it came with au jus for dipping...with no extra charge Birria! The tacos were double shelled and good they had a light guac topping... The green and red topping salsas were good not the best but serviceable... The shrimp taco too was loaded with flavor. The Chipotle crema was a nice compliment and fresh limes for a squeeze...... I will be back to try more items as I heard surrounding guests talking and it was all good... Dad's kitchen is in the heart of Broad Ripple. I love that they serve breakfast all day because I am a brunch person I don't like to get up super early. So the fact that I can get breakfast later in the afternoon is great. I had the skillet with chicken and Swiss and a Carmel iced coffee. A little on the pricey side but I deserved a treat that day! Definitely a hidden gem. In the heart of broadripple we came across this beautiful that restaurant that serves from a delicious French toast to a tradicial chilaquiles( get the green salsa) . To an authentic Peruvian Lomo saltado they even have cancha, hand down one of the best brunch lunch dinner( they serve the menu all day). We had the pleasure to meet hugo and sonia. So good I went back twice in one week! I ordered a very simple Denver omelet with potatoes and toast, but everything was so fresh and delicious that I had to double back in the same week! On my first visit, margaritas were $5 in honor of Cinco de Mayo, I ordered the passion fruit and it was delicious!
