A tiny little hole in the wall. Friendly service and it's frequented by a lot of hispanics, so you know that's a good sign. Get your Mexican staples and a few Peruvian specialties here. I enjoyed a truly yummy chimichanga, which was deep fried, stuffed to the hilt with nicely flavored ground beef and smothered in queso. Along side with rice beans, pico and sour cream... so good. My daughter enjoyed the nachos carbon, which seemed to include some nice big fat shrimp. My other guest enjoyed the lomo saltado which included steak mixed with veggies and french fries topped with 2 fried eggs and had white rice and fried plantains on the side. She really liked it too. They do serve Mexican coke, wine and beer here. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Give it a try.

It's always a pleasure to find small incognito restaurants that have delicious food. Small and clean. Gives me diner vibes. Our server was really nice and informative about the menu items. Served the usual free chips and salsa. The chips are perfectly crispy and the salsa matches well. I enjoyed hard shell chicken tacos with a side of rice. Authentic, flavorful, filling and delicious. The prices are inexpensive as well. I have no complaints and will continue to dine here.

Not many choices in the area so this place sits at the top. Easy access, quick, friendly and quality/quantity are on point every visit.

Great Family Run Restaurant !!! As a travelling foodie, I'm always looking for the hidden jewels when I'm in the small towns in America. I checked into my hotel and asked a few of the staff where a good place in town was to eat. More than one referred me to El Corcel. I hopped into my car and headed in to Crawfordsville. The restaurant was easy to find, I also found parking on the street right outside, so that was a bonus. When I walked in I was greeted by the staff like I was an old friend. I told them I was from Canada and they pretty much rolled out the red carpet for me. Since this is a South American Restaurant, the menu was quite extensive, so I decided to keep it simple and order fajitas since I had not had Fajitas in a long time. I also decided to try something different so I one went with the Fajita Veracruz. Let me warn you, this is a large dish as are most fajitas. This one had shrimp, steak, tilapia, chorizo etc, and came with beans and rice. My choice was a good one as I ended up eating almost everything on my plate, as well as a couple of baskets of chips, and a couple of Ice Cold Modello's. This place I highly recommend. The restaurant filled up fairly quickly, so I suggest getting there before the dinner rush, since they had to turn away a few people. You can also order take out here. I would return to this wonderful family run place. The staff is great and patient if you're not familiar with the cuisine, and they are very friendly and warm people.

A little place we found while looking for something else that we decided to stop and try. Small, but clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and very friendly. Service was fast. The food was delicious and served in generously sized portions at a reasonable price.

I've stopped at this location before to get lunch, and although I've had a bad experience I went in because it was the closest place at the moment. I grabbed 3 tacos and 1 burrito for my wife and kids. I specified no cilantro or onions on the tacos since the kids eat the tacos plain. Also got 1 jarrito soft drink to go. Total was 19.88. You do the math and each taco comes out to about 4$ each. Not to mention they put cilantro and onions on the tacos. My prior experience was also being overcharged where I ordered 2 burritos and 2 drinks totaling 30$!!!! Be careful when you pay, you specify the tip, because they will tip themselves.

It was extremely good, the man working behind the counter was very sweet and checked on us plenty of times. No complications, even shared a laugh with him at the end. Very homey, and very delicious food!

We ordered the steak fajitas and chimichanga, The main entrees were delicious but the sides were very bland. I would recommend it for a quick lunch but not a date night just because it was very small and had that "hole in the wall" feel.

I had high hopes for El Corcel, but they didn't hold up. From the outside it looks like a house. From the inside it still just looks like a house, but with tables and folding chairs put in each room. The food was decent. I got a chicken quesadilla and wished it had more cheese inside and sour cream or guac to dip it in. My husband got the pollo Colorado and he was very pleased. In the middle of the meal the waitress took our drinks to refill them and it was obvious she had refilled our glass with the other one's drink. Yikes! Pay attention to your drink orders folks! On a totally different note, a previous Yelper mentioned they didn't take cards. They do now!

    Excellent dish.

I was optimistic coming in. This is a renovated old house. Still looks and feels like you are in someone's house. It has dated tables and left over/beat up chairs. Not overly welcoming. I do have to say the food was better than average. Not your typical Mexican food. Had Peruvian flare to it. So I did enjoy the food. But the atmosphere was the killer.

As another reviewer noted, most of the reviews on this page are not for this restaurant, so take them with a grain of salt and give this place a try on my recommendation- you won't regret it. The carnitas and chorizo tacos are most definitely authentic with lime, cilantro and onions. Some of the best I've ever had. The reviewer who said they were wet cheesy chicken did not come to this restaurant! The food here is flavorful and reasonably priced. I had the carnitas tortas. It came with fries, and was only 8.95. Which means for the low low price of $9, you could be sampling some seriously delicious food. They served our food with a plate of avocado, which was a nice touch. Also brought complimentary chips and salsa to the table. The service was most excellent. Easily one of the best Mexican places in Indy, and I haven't even gotten around to sampling their Peruvian food. I can't wait to go back!

Food wasn't great. It was bland and not really worth it. The plates were all sauce and no shrimp.

I had heard nothing but good things about this place, so I was very happy to have the opportunity to try their sandwiches. This is a very small space, with a very small kitchen, so it takes a minute for the food to come out, but it is done per order and very fresh, so it is worth the wait. The ambiance is old fashioned in my mind, but very cute and suitable for a sandwich place. I ordered the Milanesa de Polo Sandwich, which is a chicken tenderloin sandwich, and a side of the fried sweet potatoes. The food actually came out in a decent amount of time,so I was shocked and surprised, but very pleased at the same time. As expected, the food was incredible and terrific like I thought it would be. The sandwich was huge and had to use a knife and fork to eat it. The fried sweet potatoes were excellent and had a nice texture. They were very flavorful. The sandwich tasted amazing and was one of the best chicken tenderloin sandwiches I have ever had since living in Indy. Now I see why everyone loves this place so much, because the sandwiches are high quality and just so perfect!! Our server was wonderful and gave great recommendations on the menu items. Her recommendations were spot on and everyone enjoyed their sandwiches. The steak is also incredible, so I would highly recommend the Lolo Supreme sandwich. Don Juan V's sandwiches is a wonderful mom and pop business in Indy that is worth checking out if you are looking for a fresh good sandwich. Given it is a small venue, you may have to wait a bit for your food to be prepared and delivered to your table, so will need to have some patience if you dine inside, but trust me, it is worth it and you will not be disappointed. The sandwiches are just that amazing!!

The Mexican Bowl was also delicious with the fresh pico and avocado. The kidney beans taste amazingly fresh. The beef is delicious. We took home plenty of leftovers. We tried their fresh guacamole, arroz paisa, maracuya (passion fruit limeade) drink, and I got two Cuban sandwiches for the next day! The arroz paisa is to die for. For $15 you get this huge serving of fried white rice with soy sauce, Colombian sausage, steak, chicken, chicharron (more like grilled/fried pork than cracklin), & corn. It so had plantains in it which was a nice treat. It's hearty and filling and they don't skimp on the meat. Honestly it should probably be enough for two meals, but I totally demolished the whole thing. Their guacamole was chunky (the good kind), fresh, and super flavorful. The maracuya was the perfect level of sweet and a little tangy to balance out the salty of the arroz paisa ... A perfect combo! The Cuban sandwiches were definitely overshadowed by the arroz paisa, but were still delicious and loaded with ham. It might not be my first choice for a Cubano in Indy, but still give it a try! They were unfortunately out of Peruvian ceviche the night we ordered, but it sounds exotic and tempting so we're definitely going to order it again because I'm super curious if "tigers milk" is actually legit tigers milk...
