It's no surprise that Bae Latin Food is on the Best Fast Food list for Indiana. I took my granddaughter yesterday to celebrate end of school year. She's sometimes a picky eater, but she dug in to the two plates that we ordered and went back for seconds and thirds. The menu is complex (to me) with the mix of South and Central American bowls, sandwiches and burritos. We ordered two bowls to share (the bows are enormous)! The Venezuelan Chicken Bowl is a favorite of ours with the fried plantains. The chicken is tender with a ton of flavor, and not overly spicy. You just can't find these flavors anywhere else. The Mexican Bowl was also delicious with the fresh pico and avocado. The kidney beans taste amazingly fresh. The beef is delicious. We took home plenty of leftovers. The service is friendly and food comes out hot and quickly. The small dining room is upscale fast food and there is a patio with tables. I highly recommend a visit. I'm hooked! read more

This place is located off River Road and E 146 street in the corner of the plaza next to Lavie NAILS. Comfortable casual eatery with quick service. Been here twice. My first visit on December 2020 and second visit in June 2021. This was my first try for Venezuelan food. I ordered the Peruvian Arepas (grilled shrimp, avocado and pink sauce). It was so delicious and flavorful that I ordered the same thing on my second visit. LOL! Additionally, I also ordered plantains with cheese and plain plantains. It was ok. It wasn't sweet like I had expected. It was a little dry as well. I still ate them. Upon my second visit, I ate my food outside as the day was warm, sunny and perfect! Went for an elite event but also got an order of the Cuban bowl on my own. Good flavors and although I questioned the portion size thinking it wasn't that big. It was definitely filling. Tried Bae Latin Food at a Yelp event last week--loved it so much I ordered it again a week later! The Cuban bowl is incredible--generous portions of rice, beans, meat, plantains, and yuca fries for just $15. It's easily two meals! Each of the sauces that come with the meals are delicious too. I would purchase a bottle of the Bae sauce, if they sold it. We ordered via DoorDash, so I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but I'll definitely be ordering again. What a great little spot on the corner! Bae is located in the same little strip and shares a parking lot with my old kickboxing studio - now an F45. I love that they have plenty of parking and the space is bright and clean. We got the Taquenos to eat there and then I took the Vegan bowl home for me and the Argentinian arepa home for the hubs. I dug in to the fried yucca and plantains that topped my vegan bowl as soon as I got home and they were FIRE. SO GOOD. The next day I heated up the beans and rice and they made the perfect left over lunch. Hubs raved about his sandy. We will go back to try all of the goods offered as they are plenty! I've visited Bae Latin food on multiple occasions, and am always thoroughly impressed. The menu is large and has quite a few offerings, but is easy to understand. When you go in, there is a screen you place your order through, but there is also staff available to help you place your order. Service is always great, and you can see them cooking your food right there! The flavors are always incredible- from the seasonings that are used, to the yucca fries, and the multiple sauce options (green is my favorite)! This is such a good find in central Carmel! I loved my Caribbean bowl which had such good flavors and was the most filling lunch I had. What stood out was the outstanding flavor of shrimp, with plain yucca & sweet plantain which was such a good mix. The hearty flavors added such a refreshing texture and touch to my lunch. Our Matters of Taste group came to Bae Latin Food for dinner tonight to try it out to see what the hoopla was all about. Everyone I have talked to has spoken very highly about Bae and now I can see why. Bae Latin Food specializes in Latin Street food, and they have a variety of items from arepitas to tacos, and they have corn pancakes. This is a high quality restaurant that is not like any other fast food restaurants. The ambiance is very nice and shows Latin history all over the walls along with decorative signage and attractive colors. When you arrive, you look at the menu above to see what you want and then you go to the monitor on the counter to place your order. It is like a kiosk, but this is a huge monitor. Once you place your order and submit your payment, you will get a text message on your cell phone saying your order is ready. If you order a drink, you go pick up a cup from the soda fountain and get your drink, or a cup of water. I would say my order was ready within 5-10 minutes, and the cook brought it to my table. I ordered the Caribbean bowl and the chicken tacos. Both were very fresh and tasted incredible! The texture of the grilled shrimp and fried yucca were fantastic! The fried Plantains were delicious! The chicken tacos are huge portions and the presentation is great! Both dishes were served with a selection of dipping sauces that were very good, but I honestly couldn't tell you what they were. For Latin Food, I was very impressed. The lack of interaction with the staff was unusual and different, but I can understand why it is set up that way. The staff was very professional and helpful when we needed something, and they did take good care of us while at the restaurant, so we were very pleased! I would come here again or get food to go, because the food is simply delightful and fresh! You definitely get your money's worth! I'm glad I can check this off of my list of places to eat. Disclaimer: I've spent a lot of time in Florida and lived there for a majority of my time on Yelp this past eleven years. I love Latin food. I have a husband who is from Costa Rica. Am I the authority on Latin food? No. Anyways I do know authentic when I taste it and this was pretty authentic! The menu is not small appetite friendly that I saw. You walk in and order from an ipad. At first I was just going to share my husband's bowl with him and get a side order for myself. Then I saw these chicken tacos and I changed my mind. I wonder if somehow they're available ala carte because after one I could not eat another bite. Hence the minus a star because an option for different appetite sizes is so huge for me. The service was fine. My husband and the guy working both seemed to appreciate being able to communicate in Spanish to each other which I think is the most wholesome thing. Loved that. My taco was amazing. It's not a Mexican tasting taco but it does taste like all of the tacos I got in Tampa from Spanish restaurants and I loved it. Fresh avocado. Delicious sauce options on the side. The chicken was delicious which is hit or miss sometimes. My husband's tostone looked bomb but he ate it before I could get a bite. The audacity. I've drove by here many times and finally stopped in on my home from work, and I'm glad I did! I ordered the chicken Parilla and it was delicious. The chicken had amazing flavor and all the sauces they brought out were delicious as well, I divided by bowl into sections so I could have a little of all the sauces! So good! What a unique place! Bae Latin Food is located in a quiet shopping area in Carmel and brings a unique fusion of South American inspired dishes to the city. I had the Venezuelan bowl with a side of yucca fries and it was delicious. Not only does it come with fried plantains, which I haven't seen at a restaurant concept like this, but you can add several delicious sauces to elevate the dish even more. There is something for everyone on the menu, however if you are looking for lots of spice, you won't find that here. Everything is subtle, so I recommend adding the sauce if you want to take it up a notch. Great conversations with the owner and employees and I think they have a bright future. Yum! I'd heard wonderful things about Bae Latin Food from fellow Yelpers and finally had the chance to check it out. I ordered carry-out and felt safe the entire time. The two staff members present were wearing masks and there was no one else in the restaurant while I waited for my food. In the future, I might order and pay online for a speedier pickup. I opted for the Venezuelan bowl with rice, black beans, chicken and cheese. It was yummy and easily stretched to two meals for me. However, I did find it a little salty and needing more flavor. Maybe that's because I've been eating at home a lot this past year, and my palette has changed...Loved the addition of the sweet plantains, though! I feel for them and am so delighted that through it all, they've managed to become a beloved food institution and seem to always have people picking up food or eating on their outdoor patio. There was a very wide variety of people dining in, so if you haven't tried this type of food before, don't be scared! You can't go wrong because everything on the menu is delicious. After getting the pleasure to work with the Bae Latin team for a virtual arepa-making class, I couldn't wait to go check it out for myself. Their team is so passionate about making delicious food and it shows in their incredible, five-star-across-the-board Yelp reviews. I was thrilled to see that we could order our food ahead of time on their website. Because there were a few menu items that were new to me, I loved being able to look each item up ahead of time. Here's what we got: Shrimp arepa: Never had an arepa before? It's a Venezuelan and Colombian "sandwich" and is essentially a grilled corn flour patty stuffed fillings of your choice. Bae offers everything from ground beef to chicken, veggies, plantains, beans, cheese or more. I got the shrimp one which came with pink sauce and avocado. It was great! The Argentinian Bowl: This was my absolute favorite. It came with churrasco (grilled beef), grilled chorizo, avocado, salad mix and white rice. I also recommend asking for the green sauce on the side so you can mix it into your bowl. I'm not sure what it was, but it was mild and had amazing flavor. I wished I got extra. Fried Yucca: These are a must as well. Yucca is a plant, and the fries are made from the yucca root. They came with a delicious mayo-based dipping sauce that we absolutely loved. What a lovely experience. We drive from downtown just to get carry out from Bae Latin Food for Yelp's Big Night In. We bookmarked this spot a few weeks ago after stumbling upon someone's review on Yelp. Venezuelan, Cuban and Colombian cuisine Unser one roof? Jackpot! Indy's culinary scene could use some more Colombian options especially. The space is well designed with a red, black and white color scheme and easy to read menus overhead. The staff was very friendly upon our entry and the entire experience was very smooth. We ordered the Cuban and Venezuelan bowls and a side order of the tostones. All were delicious. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a little more juiciness or a sauce to accompany the bowls. Is it too much to hope for some pan de queso or ajiaco soup on the menu one day? Always looking for amazingly authentic food, and Bae hits this on the mark. I've been very impressed with the newly opened Venezuelan restaurants and Bar is a great contender! If you're looking for an authentic Latin breakfast, lunch, or dinner- Bae is the place for you. My only complaint is I wish there was one closer to the southeast side. The chicken on the arepa had a delicious marinade and the cheese has a wonderful authentic flavor. The arepa itself is thick and crunchy and a taste of home. As for the Colombian bowl, my initial response was that the beans were delectably sweet and when mixed with the egg yolk it added a salty savory element. The ground beef was well seasoned and the rice was steaming. The portion sizes are generous and well worth the cost. We ordered to go, but there is plenty of space for dining.
