Stopped in for lunch while at work one day. This place is your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant but it did seem to draw a crowd of mostly Hispanic customers which I always take as a good sign. I went to the restroom when I arrived and there is a bit of a cleanliness issue. They need to get a floor scrubber and go over the tiles and grout. If they fixed this, it would be 5/5. I got the fajitas and they came out quickly. Good portion sizes and the prices are really low. I paid cash because I was a little uncomfortable using credit at a family restaurant when the total was under $10. Service was good. I came here for lunch. They have lunch specials, chips and salsa, and margaritas. Overall the food came out like super fast. As they were not busy at this time but it made feel like maybe the food had been sitting. I tried a chimichanga with chicken. It wasn't anything special just basic to me, but I would try this place again just possibly for dinner or try a different menu item. Plenty of space inside here. Hello!! If you're in Indy and have not tried this Mexican spot, RUN there now, don't walk RUN. We inhaled the food so fast I didn't even have time to take pics. I ordered delivery through Uber and everything came hot and packaged well. Well everything besides the flan but the rest of the food was so good I didn't even care. They have super affordable lunch options and the portions are still huge. We ordered tacos with rice and beans, a fried burrito with rice and beans and a Texas chimichanga. I was a little hesitant to order the Texas chimichanga but it was amazing. There's a healthy amount of shrimp, chicken, and steak in the burrito. The tacos and fried burrito were hitting too. The inside of this restaurant is much like any other Mexican restaurant you may go to, bright colors and usually pretty loud. Doesn't look like much when you pass by this place but just stop and go in. The ambience inside is great and quite. There is plenty of parking space because the restaurant is located in the strip mall. They are opened for pick up and dine in everyday. They keep the restaurant clean and all employees wear mask. Randomly stopped into this restaurant for a quick dinner and was disappointed. The staff were friendly and service was ok at best. Everything we ordered was tasteless. Literally no seasoning which added to the disappointment being this is what some consider an authentic Mexican restaurant. We had taco salad, enchilada verdes and churros. Not even the churros were sweet and were extremely hard as if they had been sitting from a while ago and then served to us. This place is decent. The last time I went (which was my first time) my experience was much better. I got the shrimp chimichanga. The shrimp was overcooked and the amount was stingy, and they never brought my extra sour cream to the table. My boyfriend had to flag down another waiter to bring it to me. His food was fine, he ordered the chicken chimichanga. On the menu it says it was two fried chimichangas but mine only came with one. I felt like it should have been stated on the menu. We ordered a small queso as well, and it was really runny like it was thinned out. The last time I was there is was thicker. The chips and salsa are really good though! This was a most disappointing dining experience. The salsa was bland, the chips seemed stale, the food was mediocre, and the service was just so-so. Perhaps the biggest surprise was an upcharge on both of our meals for ordering the beef instead of chicken option, although no mention of that on the menu. It simply said "steak or chicken". El Jaripeo is nostalgic for me. This was the restaurant of my high school years, when I would practice Spanish with the waitstaff. I have a tomato/bell pepper allergy, so dining out on Mexican food is difficult for me...El Jaripeo is my old standby for when my husband is in the mood for Mexican food because they have 1 dish that I know is consistently good & is tomato free. I'm often not so lucky at the other surrounding Mexican restaurants around town. The food is consistent here, and has been for over a decade. We've been to El Jaripeo quite a few times. It's usually very good, but on occasion they miss the mark. I find the margarita's overly sweet and not at all authentic, so I stick with beer. Others I've taken here like the sweet margarita. The food is a combination of some authentic mexican and some tex-mex. It's less cheesy and gooey than you'll find at other places in the area, which plays to my own likes just fine. I gravitate towards simple dishes - tacos, enchiladas, taquitos, and the like. This us definitely the best Mexican place in Plainfield!! I usually go once a week and always have excellent service and the food is always good. I'm a vegetarian and what I really appreciate is how their vegetarian fajitas are actually the same size as a regular order of fajitas. Often places just give you the skillet minus the meat. Traveling to Plainfield, where to eat... hmmmm. Stumble upon El Jaripeo. It's a little overdone on the inside with decor, not a big deal, way too much candy on the counter, lol. One of the better Mexican restaurants in the Indianapolis area. Typical Mexican cantina decor and mariachi music, giant margaritas, mexican and domestic beer - there is also a bar area, it is larger than most strip mall Mexican places. Located in a strip mall off of 40, so it is easy to miss. Lots of TVs playing college football the day I was in there. Lots of families eating here - expect a lot of kids and noise. The food is pretty cheap and pretty good - you can eat here with a (non alcoholic) drink for less than 10 dollars. I had the taquitos mexicanos - 2 chicken and 2 beef tacos in deep fried corn shells - meat was tender and delicious - and I think the only tacos that actually come with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guac. It is a lot of food, so I ended up taking more than half of it home. They are really accommodating, my friend wanted something he didn't see on the menu - they made it, no problem. I've been on a "strip mall Mexican restaurant" tour as of late. I found myself in Plainfield for work the other day and thought i would give this one a try. I ordered the "huevos mexicanos", which was scrambled eggs with onions and peppers mixed in. It was served with a side of beans and rice as well as warm tortillas. It was by far the best version I've ever had of this dish. I spent around $7 including tip. The portions were so large that I had enough leftovers for another meal. read more

I went to this place for lunch today. I tried their lunch fajitas and chimichanga. I ordered both without meat, just only vegetables. Oh ! fajitas were great, fried perfectly and taste good. Then I took a share from chimichanga dish ordered by my wife. I loved it too. Most people complain about service here but I didn't see such problem. When I was given table to sit, with in 1 minutes chips with salsa arrived and I placed my order. With in 5-7 mins, our food was in front of us... Not bad at all.
