Cool vibe and decor. Easy parking as it's part of the mall. We had a group of 10 including a couple young kids. We had multiple servers and they were awesome with the little one's. Drinks were refilled and checked on regularly. They have a nice menu with all the items you'll recognize and some you may not. We've ordered food for delivery multiple times and finally stopped in to dine in with a friend. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we arrived and were seated right away. The ambiance is casual, open and welcoming and the staff are friendly as well . My friend got a margarita whoch he said was good but could've been stronger. I have been to multiple El Toro locations and I, personally haven't been disappointed yet. This was my first time at this location. It's a bit smaller than the other locations, it's in the strip of shopping stores and restaurants. Parking is available on the strip as well as behind it. The decor is cool, plenty of tables and booths available. The bar has 8-10 chairs available. I went on a Saturday night around 9pm and it was fairly quiet. I always order the El Toro fajitas which has steak, chicken and shrimp with veggies. It was about $20 and you get your bang for your buck. I go to a lot of Mexican restaurants and so far their portions for fajitas are the best, hands down. If you like spicy, ask for hot salsa. It's delish. It comes with rice, pico, lettuce, guac, sour cream, beans and tortillas which i think is a heck of a deal. I was greeted immediately when I came in, the server was friendly and prompt. This was an unexpected find in the mall neighborhood near the Courtyard hotel that we were staying at. While this restaurant has the feel of a carefully groomed chain style location with somewhat generic decor, the food is a solid choice. The guacamole was quite flavorful and a good item to accompany the chips. Portion sizes for the entrees are quite large and served piping hot from the kitchen. I enjoyed the shrimp tacos I ordered, although I will say I was not impressed by the Spanish rice, which was bland and a bit dried out. Usually the rice is one of the dishes you can rely on but it was disappointing here. Overall though, the food was tasty and service attentive. Recommended. read more

The staff was attentive and accommodating to our eight person party with two young children. While the wall mural in the dining area is unique, the sparkler towers and drum line of musicians loudly bashing their drums and blowing their whistles for patrons celebrating birthdays reminds me more of spring breaks in Cancun when I was younger than what it is: a strip mall Mexican restaurant on the outskirts of a mini-metropolitan area. The food was fine -- a plate of rice with some semi-sautéed vegetables and cheese sauce passed the edible test. The other person in our party ordered a chimichanga and mentioned it was "good". I usually go to the downtown location and wanted to see if this location was just as good...and it was! We were seated immediately and was greeted with a smile. The waitress brought us chips and salsa fairly quickly. I order the Sangria margarita on the rocks and it put me in a happy place so GOOD! I ordered the Texas taco which had steak, chicken, and shrimp over lettuce, tomatoes topped with melted cheese. It was hot and very flavorful. I waited roughly 15 minutes for the food to come out. Loved the vibes in here and murals on the wall were really cool! We came in for a Sunday lunch and they had the Colts game playing loudly, which kind of gave it a sports bar vibe instead of a Mexican restaurant, but it was still a fun atmosphere. We started with salsa, guacamole, and queso and they were all great, but the queso was a little runny. The menu is so extensive and they have so many seafood options! I had a hard time picking what I wanted but I went with the Happy Pollo and I enjoyed it. Came with rice and beans and the chicken was topped with mushrooms, onions, and cheese. The service was great too, the food came out pretty fast. Took a looooooong time to get our food:( then when it finally did it was like it had been sitting for awhile as it was cold and mine was made wrong, they did remake it but so quickly as the cheese was not melted. I informed the mgr who promptly remade a 3rd time, and it tasted fine. Not impressed by the drink sizes, you have a 12oz ranges from minimum of $15 or a small pitcher ( and it DEFINITELY was NOT a normal pitcher by any means) ranges from $35-50 dollars and it's only 2 small drinks each. The flairs are nice touch as well as the dry ice effect, but I would prefer a larger cup size!!! The only offer frozen drinks in the patron bottles which was a disappointment I prefer regular as the drinks are not watered down. The chips were just ok, some tasted old. The small cheese was also ok. Not worth $5. Very expensive place for a Mexican restaurant. Bathrooms were clean and beautiful decorated, the doors were pretty . I'm so happy we now have a local El Toro now! Although I did love the Stacked Pickle, this is a solid replacement. We came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was super friendly, and bilingual! Half of our party primarily spoke Spanish, so that was awesome. I had the strawberry margarita. It's really neat because this place gives you dry ice, so it's all bubbly and looks like a margarita hot tub:) very delicious and was not weak! For my entree, I had the el mar enchiladas, which came with one tilapia, one crab, and one shrimp, covered with queso cheese. It's served with rice, beans, and a guacamole salad. I was super impressed with this!! They all had tons of meat in them, and it was very yummy. Although I want to branch out and try new things when we return, I think this will be my go to dish. We checked out el toro for appetizers and drinks last night. It was excellent! That atmosphere was high energy and fun. They had fun lights that came on and music when someone ordered a special margarita flight. The wait staff was busy and obviously new which is to be expected since they didn't open all that long ago. I spoke with the general manager when I arrived and he was very nice and welcomed us to to the experience. We got queso fundido which was good and came out sizzling. Their quac is amazing! We went for lunch this week and will be back soon. First I loved the decorations, beautiful colored glasses and window walls. It was fun to people watch while we ate. The salsa was smooth with a hint of sweetness and the chips were thick and crunchy. I can't remember the name of the dish I ordered but it was amazing. Zero stars. We were glad to see a new restaurant in that specific location and even happier to see that it was Mexican. I viewed the website before going to get an idea of the menu and ambiance. Unfortunately I couldn't find a link to my specific location. When we got there it was busy but with only a 10 minute wait for a party of 4. We noticed immediately that the waiting area was not adequate for the crowd with very limited seating. Ok fine, we really only waited 10 minutes. We noticed right away that there was something going on with a DJ and a screen with a blurb about a Bobble head dance party or something like that. When the waiter came by he only addressed my husband, not me and not my children and he didn't take my drink order. He finally returned after several minutes to take the rest of the drinks, I ordered a house margarita, and they made a presentation out of it with dry ice so it smoked and bubbled. It was ok, I can do without the theatrics. Our food arrived not long after that then the "Bobble Head" party started which consisted of a couple people in costume with oversized heads, flashing lights and sparklers. My 9 year old didn't like that at all. It was disruptive and not what we signed up for that day. Maybe I missed a sign outside with some sort of warning? Doubtful. While I tried to placate my daughter, my husband spoke to the manager and asked for the check and some boxes which took another several minutes to arrive. As food was being put in boxes we realized an order was incorrect so they worked to fix it. When we got home and could finally relax to eat only one of our meals had any flavor and that was the shrimp tacos. My husband and I both ordered dishes with chicken (chimichanga and taco salad) and they were incredibly bland. With many more options for Mexican in the area, we will happily frequent those. I did not have a decent experience here at all, the service was very poor as others mention. We did not get waited on for so long, that we were about to walk out. No one was really paying attention to tables, rather chatting amongst eachother. Arrived first were my partners dish and our appetizer at the same time. My entree had not came yet. The nachos as the appetizer was just so disappointing unfortunately, and to make matters worse, my entree never came! The waitress never came back, too. We had 2 food runners and bussers, and 2 waitresses. The second waitress said my burrito wasnt made because it wasnt written down on the ticket. Which at that moment, i was greatly let down because my partner and i went through every detail with the 1st waitress, and then he and i sat there for 20 mins while he ate his entree and i was stuck with this very very sad nachos that tasted sub par! My burrito i ordered sounded really good to eat too, but because he was already done eating by the time someone checked on us, we just said no to the burrito and were ready to leave. At that point i was visually upset, and the manager waded over and asked how everything was. i told him the situation about my missing entree. He said okay, let me check and see what I can do about that, then went to the bar and hugged his friends and chatted with them the rest of the time! It was wild to behold. In the end, we were only charged with what we consumed, and that is fair. The price of the food however, was not fair, topping at 44.00 for 4 slices of quesadilla, no side, and a sad plate of nachos that had mostly beans and pasty ground beef, minimal cheese. If you have read this far, might i suggest you to try Theo's italian instead, or any other eatery nearby. Service here is obviously abhorrent judging by the reviews. read more

This was my first time going to El Toro and it definitely deserves 5 stars! The staff is very friendly and we were seated right away. I got arroz con pollo which was delicious and my bf got the quesabirria tacos and he loved it. I got a margarita on the rocks, it was good and strong and they served it with dry ice which is pretty cool. The atmosphere is great, fun music and they had cute halloween decorations up. We had a great meal at the newly opened El Toro in Plainfield, accross from the AMC Perry Crossing Theatre. There are several interesting seafood selections on the menu, along with more standard Mexican restaurant fare. The Seafood Pineapple and the Enchiladas Supremas were great! The service was fine.
