We got sick today after eating here, all 3 of us. All of us ordered beef or steak and all were sick. I don't know what happened to the quality of this place but it's gone down hill. They no longer serve coffee or just were willing to serve it because wasn't ready so that was already disappointing, everything kinda took a long time to get. We asked for a receipt because they use the little computers and overall just that took 10 minutes at least which is in a way a little outrageous. I noticed this restaurant in Plainfield many times and finally was able to give it a try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment is clean--and surprisingly large![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Almost resembling a chain restaurant( which it very well might be--no idea if it is). We were promptly greeted and seated. A friendly server took our drink orders. I had the happy hour special margarita and hubby had a Modelo. We even put in our second drink order immediately since happy hour ended in a few minutes. The drink I received was salty and not sweet at all--however, the second one proved corrected and refreshing. We gave our food orders which consisted of the ceviche and the molcajete. The food came very quickly! Which made us very happy as we were starving! If you have never tried a molcajete--it feeds two easily. It has beef steak, chicken, shrimp and nopales. And the broth in the bottom of the bowl? Ask for more tortillas--because it's delicious! My goodness-don't leave it! We definitely couldn't eat it all and had to take the remainder home. I really wanted to keep loving Quesos, but it's just not the same anymore. When they first opened, the dishes were packed with flavor and felt thoughtfully crafted. Lately, though, everything has become very mediocre -- it honestly feels like there's been a change in the kitchen. Even the chips, which should be a slam dunk, are bland and forgettable. 'Kay, so (haha), this is a solid Mexican food place. Jennifer was phenomenal! Attentive and friendly! The restaurant has a classy feel to it with comfy chairs and plenty of seats all around. The chips were crispy and the salsa was delicious!!! Ordered the steak fajitas with a side of guacamole ($1) extra , and to my disappointment did not come with lettuce, sour cream or salsa like every other restaurant I have ever visited:( ..... but they had plenty of steak w/ vegetables but again they need these to truly make a fajita! I also had the grilled chicken quesadillas but the chicken itself lacked any flavor but it had plenty of cheese and chicken inside. It came with 2 sides so I opted for French fries were hot and tasty. The pitcher of margarita was $26 and worth every penny! Let's say the overwhelming reason for me to return to this place is the prickly pear margarita. It is phenomenal. Not too sweet, not too tart. You get your choice of rims also. Choose between salt, sugar or tajin, whatever your pleasure. The prices are fairly high for Mexican fare, however the portions are pretty generous. I opted for the tortilla soup, which was good, but I have had better. So I shall give that a meh. I did enjoy my flautas. Nice and crisp with a delicious filling and some crema and cojita cheese on top. The dish came with rice, but not the beans you would be used to at a Mexican place. We've driven past Queso weekly but, for some reason, never stopped here. This evening we decided to change that. They are easy to find, located behind Belle Tire and across the street from Andy Mohr Ford on US 40/Washington Street/Main Street in the small strip center. Parking is shared with the other businesses in the strip center. A nice patio area will be opening when the weather permits. Queso is a family-friendly restaurant, and they take reservations. Lunch is served from 11a - 3p, Mon. - Fri. and a kid's menu is available. They have live music on Friday and Saturday evenings with seating close to the stage. We received a friendly greeting and immediately shown to a table in the bar area. The bartender was our server and arrived promptly. My husband ordered a Dos Equis Amber, and I had the house margarita. They have full bar service and serve many types of margaritas and hand-crafted cocktails. Both our drinks were extremely cold, and the house margarita had a nice flavor. Many non-alcoholic beverages are offered, including Pepsi products. The menu isn't extensive, like some Mexican restaurants we've seen. However, several unique items seldom seen on others' menus are served at Queso. Several specialty entrees are on the menu as well. I'm looking forward to trying the Street Corn, Quacamole Molcajete, Ceviche, and Chicken Tortilla Soup. The menu offers authentic Mexican food with 8 types of homemade salsas. Daily specials of food or drink are listed in the entrance or see the attached picture. Chips and salsa arrived at the table quickly. The chips are very thick, and we weren't fans. The server was patient as we were indecisive on what to try first. My husband opted for the 3 Ribeye Tacos (no mix and match) served with one side, and his side choice was charro beans. He loved the steak tacos. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas served with two sides, which were charro beans and plantains. We both enjoyed the meaty charro beans, and the plantains were lightly crispy but with a sweet, soft center. Our server was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our order arrived timely with a nice presentation. The atmosphere is casual and a perfect spot to celebrate a birthday. 2 birthdays were celebrated while we were there. This is a fairly new restaurant in Plainfield IN. They are located on US 40 going towards Plainfield IN. They are business casual and family friendly. They have a separate bar area that is big. Their ambiance is average loud. Their customer service was good. They explained how the menu works and all the options available. I don't know if they have any vegan options, but they definitely have vegetarian options. The Mexican rice is cooked with Chicken broth and their Ranchero sauce has chicken broth or breast in it according to their customer service. Their food tastes good and it's more Americanized than authentic. We went in winter so I don't know if they have any outdoor seating available. They have their restaurant rewards program that they advertise when we are there. Definitely try at least once! read more

Stopped at Queso's for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The sign out side side that tacos were $2.99 and street tacos were $3.99 so o thought it would be a good time to try a variety. I was sat pretty quickly in the bar. The bartender (I don't remember his name) was friendly, fast, and took the time to explain all the different sauces and make recommendations. The chips and salsa came out first. The chips are hearty and thick. The salsa was fresh tasting and hard a little kick to it. A fresh pepper taste, not a chipotle taste, just the way I like it. The ground beef taco was good. Piping hot, not greasy, and serves on a fresh shell. As I picked up the barbacoa taco a tablespoon or so of liquid splashed onto my white shirt. Just be careful of that particular meat. The grilled chicken was okay. It was bland but I did put some avocado sauce on it to remedy this. My bill came to $34 before tip. The bill was paid at the table and I didn't even think about it until I got to my car. Seems high for 3 tacos (that were supposed to be on special) and a Coke. I was so excited for a new restaurant in Plainfield, and this one took forever to open, but I probably won't be back. There are better, cheaper options in the area. read more

I ordered my flight on the rocks - they came frozen and the flavors were incorrect. We asked for a refill of our chips - please note for future patrons that the chips refills are not free. We got the queso fundido. It was good. It came with 3 tortillas. Each of us was pleased enough with our meals - 2 of us got street tacos, one a burrito. Everything was fine - really the best description. They were good. Not great. I wouldn't get what I got again - the quesobirria tacos. They are supposed to be topped with onions and cilantro - they had maybe 1/2 teaspoon on each taco. Generous serving of birria. We never got the chips we ordered. So we made sure they weren't on the bill. Overall, the food was ok and the drinks were ok too. Emphasis on "ok." Unfortunately for us, our service lacked the most. I've been wanting to try this newer Plainfield Mexican restaurant for some time now. Allow me to preface this review with stating I am truly a connoisseur of authentic Mexican food--this ain't that. If you want decent chain, Mexican food then not a bad deal. Overall the food is decent, the service is nice and quick, and the establishment is new and clean. I was not a huge fan of the chips and salsa. The guacamole appetizer was great! We ordered birria tacos and fish tacos--both were satisfying but the sides of beans left much to be desired as they lacked sufficient seasoning. The service was excellent, we were seated right away and our server took great care of us being very attentive and respectful. While most places serve a chewy steak that can hardly be cut, hers was tender and flavorful enough to be eaten alone. The carry out experience has been great - the food is generally ready to be picked up in about 15min, even though the website will say 45min wait. The dine in experience is more questionable. The servers aren't very attentive, even though I go when there's low traffic. The first visit, we had to wait about 20min after we were seated to even be acknowledged for drinks. However, I still really enjoy the food and location, and when a server does come to the table they're extremely nice. It's possible they've been understaffed since opening, so I'll continue to visit and hope they hit their stride with service. read more

The esquite was not very good, but the rest of the food was delicious! The nachos with carnitas were absolutely the best dish we had! We had reservations for 6:30 for a group of 6, seated promptly which was good because the area to wait in is small and people were in everyone's way including staff standing against the wall. Server appeared quickly, took drink orders and they arrived much faster than expected. Drinks were delicious. Order was taken, food took about 45 minutes to arrive, during that 45 minutes we were checked on one time so ordering another round of drinks for the group didn't happen, 2 people got their small drinks refilled because they were done at the one and only 15 minute check in. Those of us with margaritas were irritated and decided to go home after dinner instead of ordering more. The plan was to stay and listen to live music but because we weren't getting any drink service, we just chose to go home. Live music was great BTW. The salsa they brought to the table didn't get eaten by 4 of the 6 of us, just very blah. Queso was your average queso, nothing to brag about. Overall the food is VERY under flavored all around from salsa to queso to meals. 2 people had chicken meals and complained about it being "chewy", 2 others had Mahi Mahi tacos but said it was dry and had a "fishy smell". My husband had the Ribeye tacos, he said Ribeye was chewy and dry. I had the Sopes with steak, steak was good but the rest of it was ehhhh, I ate 1/2 of 1 of the 3 of them and stopped. Server was super nice when we saw him, avoided eye contact with the table a few times when we tried to get his attention for a straw and more drinks. Only brought the table 2 sets of silverware for 6 people and we never got more. One of our party ate her salad with a spoon. This place has a healthy balance of the food and the interesting. I was really anticipating the quesos opening, but was left disappointed. I'd like to start with the goods! There is clearly management who really cares! I took immediate notice to a, presumably, manager who was giving instruction to younger staff members. I would also note that a lot of precision and care was given to the presentation of the food and restaurant. However, we did not love it. The food was so-so. I look for really robust flavors and didn't get that in my meal. For a grand-opening campaign, the service felt rushed amongst all the training that was going on. In addition, i usually love a strong drink, but I also felt the drink lacked flavor. I may have been primed to think/feel this way based on my food, but alas. I was really excited, but left feeling eh about the experience. That being said, it recently opened up, it's a lovey interior with lots of cool, historical art pieces and a lovely management team. Unfortunately, the food was a major letdown. I have eaten at A LOT of different types of Mexican restaurants, and a lack of flavor is usually not an issue. However, it was here. The salsa tasted like spicy watered down tomatoes and the Diablo sauce tasted like spicy, overly salty tomatoes. There was no depth of flavor, no layers.
