Cute neighborhood restaurant that has been around for years. The bar area where we sat has the vibe of a well worn pub dark and moody with plenty of seating. We came to try their burgers based on yelp search of Best Burgers in Eugene. Our server Liev was really nice and informative. We asked which burger we should have but ended up ordering a different option. the CURD IS THE WORD 1/2 lb Burger. $20.95 Wisconsin fried white cheddar curds, bacon cheese sauce, frizzle onions & Frog's Wort Dijon on a pub bun. We requested the burger be split into 2, 1/4 lb patties to help distribute the flavors. The burger was impressive in size and appearance. I could have used more flavor on the burger patties or more bacon cheese sauce. The meat tasted a bit bland I added a couple shakes of salt which helped. The cheese curds were delicious and a fun topping. The burger comes with fries which appear to be beer battered. Very delicious. We will visit again to try a different burger.

I got delivery, so I can't speak to the location. Sometimes i get so hungry, I can't pick a place. This was one of those days. I was in desperate need of meat protein, having not had much of it that day. What clinched it was the One Pound French Dip. I also got the Bavarian pretzel. Since it's a Bavarian pretzel, it's a little firmer than the soft pretzels you may be used to. It was still soft, though, and not dried out. The accompanying mustard with hickory bacon cheese sauce made it even better. That's a good dipping sauce for a lot of other things, too. But oh the French Dip sandwich. . .basically everything I wanted it to be, and not just because I was so hungry. Soft bread and delicious juicy roasted beef. It was good with or without the au jus. I ate half and some of the fries, and polished the rest off the next morning. Great sustenance as I was traveling back to Portland that day. My only regret was not ordering from here earlier, because I would have ordered that sandwich again.

This location feels so private & fun! We came back for a birthday date night for my husband. I got the Philly cheesesteak and it was so good and huge! We got cocktails, beer, and cheese curds (you can't come here and not get them!) we love our meals here. We love coming here for a nice date night. Our waitress was so nice and she noticed it was my husbands birthday and we got a slice of cake to take home for him. Nothing better than feeling special and acknowledged on your birthday. I know it made him feel good. Thank you for doing that for your customers. Sometimes it's the small things. Anyways we love coming here. Everything is yummy & we will be back again.

This particular location is a renovated house converted to an interesting eatery packed with an eclectic assortment of knick knacks and decor. The atmosphere is very intriguing and promotes a wandering around just to see the various art, photos, hangings and signs. Let's not forget the colander lamp shades! The service is very friendly and accommodating, the restaurant itself is somewhat close but comforting. The menu was a bit of a surprise with the pricing, a bit high, but the food is good and portions are decent. We started with an onion rings appetizer that was very hot and crispy. The rings were thick and came with a dipping sauce, there are several to choose from. I almost went for the Philly, but then I saw the Mighty Quinn's Crispy Chicken sandwich. There are many unique and interesting names for their sandwiches and plates, I had to try the crispy chicken. It came on a Kaiser bun with some bacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo. There was also some pepper jack cheese that gave it a little spicy kick. The chicken was delicious in that it was moist, the batter was very crispy and not oily and the tender as a whole was quite large. I had to check as I thought there might have been two, but it was just one nice large tender. I opted for the battered fries over the cajun fries or tater tots. The battered fries are the way to go. The crunch is amazing, the flavor and thickness of the batter lends itself to a wide variety of sauces besides ketchup. Even though the menu comes with a mild sticker shock, the pleasant surroundings and nice neighborhood, good hot food, pleasant staff and interesting decor all makes for a good social lunch that is well worth it.

Salmon salad with the new lemon dressing. It was good. Maybe okay.

Cornucopia is a staple here in the Eugene/Springfield. With three locations there a plenty of places to find a table. They provide a wide selection of options although I will say there is some but not a lot for the gluten-free crowd. I went today and tried their newest addition to the menu with the salmon salad. It was good. They've even introduced a new dressing to the menu with the salad. Do I think the dressing is worth the extra $.75 -no. But that's me. Pros $5 kids menu all day Best burger in town-I'll fight someone over that. Great house pours. Each and every time. Cons Price. I'm not sure how a bowl of tomato soup is over $10. A more ingredient heavy soup -sure. But tomato ? That was the consensus it our group about the reasons why we don't keep coming back. With that said-Cornucopia hits- usually when someone else is footing the bill but still......

We went here while picking up a very generous donation to the Evans Valley fire department...thank you for that!! The food is amazing. The burger was delicious although it did have flour in the mixture so it wasn't entirely gluten-free, but they did have a gluten-free bun option and it was great.. the nachos were gluten-free and also delicious. Paul knows what he's doing! The back patio was really cool as it was the perfect day to eat outside and enjoy the sunshine. If we lived close by, this would definitely be a regular place to eat!

On our way back up the I-5 cooridor, we were craving some good eats. Eugene always has something cookin'! Cornucopia Restaurant has won a number of awards for their burgers, and as a top restaurant overall, why not give it a shot?! Swung by for a late lunch and left with very full and happy bellies! Paul, our waiter for the afternoon, was fantastic. He was friendly, gave great food recs and shared about the restaurant history. Pictures on the wall demonstrate their family vibe. Definitely enhanced our dining experience. We tried the Smuggler and the Ohana Keene burgers, and they were both amazing. Juicy, flavorful, unique, spicy, sweet, crunchy, soft... it hit every mark! It's easy to see why Cornucopia has won numerous awards for their burgers. Everything is homemade. Their ranch and buffalo sauce were awesome!! Overall, we had a fantastic time at Cornucopia and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Eugene. We will definitely be back!

I'll be honest I hadn't given this place a ton of consideration considering the yelp reviews but I saw how many positive reviews it had on google and had to try. My husband got the veggie burger and I got the curd is the word. I LOVED mine. I mean I was raised "Minnesconsin" so I firmly believe you can't go wrong with a Wisconsin cheese curd and this didn't disappoint. Cheesy and rich. Service was quick enough, very large menu, prices seemed fine to me for large portions and what seemed to be quality ingredients. All around very nice experience. It was cold in the building which would be my only complaint but sitting by the door in the winter it's kind of hard to beat that !

The staff has always been (and still very much is) top notch in everything they do...but the food quality has dropped significantly to the point we can no longer justify the expensive. We've learned the changes began shortly after a new owner came in. Some of the changes we've noticed: The fish in the fish 'n chips is now buried in deep fried batter to the point I had to peel away most of the breading just to get to what little fish was there. The steak and eggs ($30) offers barely 4 ounces of steak, small heap of potatoes and two eggs...not enough to justify the price. They downgraded their organic, thick-cut pepper bacon to some odd, paper thin variety that is not very appealing and it would seem they no longer make their biscuits gravy in house! It now looks and tastes bland and pasty...industrialized. They used to have magnificent herbed gravy made from scratch so this is particularly disappointing. They no longer have real maple syrup. The prices remain that of an organic, farm-to-table but the food no longer qualifies and is very overpriced for what it is. I will really miss my Sunday mornings there but I just can't stomach these shortcomings. Very sad to see our favorite restaurant reduced to this state. If I could, I would give the staff 5+ stars and the food 1.

Busy but they had a table for us. Very nice decor, rotating menu. We had the buckwheat pancakes with caramelized bananas, dates, and pineapple syrup which was sweet but not overly so since the pancakes underneath were not touched by the syrup ended up being a really nice balance. Bacon was like a cross between pork belly and bacon (very thick) but really tasty. Breakfast Sando was good with in-house ground pork and a nice aioli. We also tried the savory macarons (Brie and truffle) which are delicious. Creamy and a tad sweet. Not too much truffle. Coffee was a bright tangy pour over-not my favorite type but some people really like that style. Oh, and we had a blood orange mimosa which was really good Overall an excellent experience! There are restaurants that seduce you with promise, and others that test your patience before…read morerevealing their intent. Lion & Owl, on this particular morning, proved to be both--a place of evident talent, yet uneven discipline, where flashes of brilliance are offset by lapses that no serious kitchen should permit. Let us begin with the triumph. The buckwheat pancakes arrive not merely as breakfast, but as a composition. A stack of admirable loft and structure--evidence of a properly developed batter, handled with restraint and precision. The crumb is airy yet resilient, each bite yielding gently before dissolving into a delicate nuttiness inherent to buckwheat. A caramelized banana sauce pools generously, glossy and fragrant, its sweetness tempered by the cultured tang of crème fraîche. Toasted coconut chips scatter across the top like crisp punctuation, lending both aroma and texture. This is cooking that understands balance--sweetness checked by acidity, softness lifted by crunch, comfort elevated by technique. It is, quite simply, a five out of five dish. The kitchen, here, remembers what it means to nourish and delight. And then--alas--we encounter its counterpoint. The mushroom brioche toast, in conception, should be a study in harmony: buttery bread, earthy fungi, silken eggs, fresh greens. Yet the execution falters at its very foundation. The brioche--so essential, so central--is pushed past the threshold of caramelization into bitterness. In a bread so rich with butter and sugar, precision is everything; overcook it, and the entire structure collapses under a shadow of char. The garnish, too, feels careless--large stems of greenery draped without intention, rather than composed with purpose. It is a dish that looks promising from a distance but betrays its flaws upon inspection. A two out of five--a failure not of imagination, but of discipline. The brie and truffle macaron arrives as an afterthought--set aside, unannounced, uncentered, as though it were a spare utensil rather than a composed pastry. Presentation matters. It signals care. Here, there is none. And the macaron itself? A confection that should whisper with delicacy instead resists with age. The shell is hardened, the interior overly chewy--signs of time having passed unkindly. The flavor is confused: a sweet, almost vanilla shell encasing a mild, savory filling of whipped brie and timid truffle. Neither side asserts itself; neither yields to the other. It is neither dessert nor savory course, but a muddled compromise. A two out of five, and left unfinished--a silent verdict more damning than words. The mimosa, I am told, is bright and pleasing, though presented without flourish--a small omission, but telling in a restaurant aspiring to polish. A four out of five, competent yet unadorned. The pour-over coffee reveals a lighter roast profile: bright acidity at the fore, a nutty mid-palate, a gently lingering finish. It is, as you observed, "hipster coffee"--intentionally expressive, though perhaps too acidic for a more classical palate. On flavor alone, a three out of five. Yet the experience is marred by a most unforgivable intrusion: a hair in the initial cup. Such a thing should never reach a guest. Ever. And beyond the plate--there is service. Dishes arriving out of sequence. Eggs meant for one guest appearing with another's delayed entrée. A table divided, one diner finished while the other waits. Explanations that do not align with reality. Items placed without acknowledgment or intention. These are not minor stumbles; they are fractures in the very architecture of hospitality. The Verdict Lion & Owl is a restaurant caught between what it is capable of and what it consistently delivers. There is real talent in this kitchen--evident in the pancakes, in the conceptual ambition of the menu, in flashes of thoughtful composition. But talent without rigor is unreliable. And hospitality without coordination is hollow. For every moment of genuine pleasure, there is another of carelessness--overcooked bread, stale pastry, inattentive plating, lapses in cleanliness, and disjointed service. In the end, one must judge the whole, not the highlights. Overall score: 2 out of 5. A restaurant with promise--undeniably--but one that must remember that excellence is not achieved in moments. It is achieved in consistency, in care, and in respect for the guest at every stage of the meal. Until then, Lion & Owl remains... a place that almost is.

Even better if you have it late night after experiencing the best Handel's Messiah concert at the Hult in December. I had a small slider of corned beef along with his amazing fresh Kale salad garnish with shaved Parmesan, walnuts, added protein -- sausage. It came with a toasted slice of soda bread that was great. But the slider was how I realized the corned beef was PERFECTLY prepared. A taste was not enough; I decided to get the dinner plate version to take the next day up to Seattle with me. Fantastic staff included Barkeep Illyia, whose birthday it was. She kept up a steady stream of attentive care, skillful service, friendly banter with each of the clients that came in and said good by to them as they left. Hospitality was her middle name. Love that they have mugs for the regulars hanging from the ceilings, the bar space is great but so are the arm chairs and cushioned seats in the corners of the pub. I even ran into two other concertgoers who had also been so energized after the Messiah concert that they didn't want to go home. We spent a half hour at the bar unpacking the highs and best points of the performance by the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, and the symphony choir, and each of the soloists. We also unanimously agreed the tenor was fantastic, the baritone a paragon of artistic talent, the soprano sang incandescently, and that the final AMEN movement was soul healing and mind blowing simultaneously. Yeah. It was that good. This place was the right place to come to unpack it all over a Guinness and the best corned beef and cabbage in town.
