Me and my husband have been Sunday regulars for several years. North Fork used to be a true "farm-to-table" and that was one of the big reasons why we loved it. The staff has always been (and still very much is) top notch in everything they do...but the food quality has dropped significantly to the point we can no longer justify the expensive. We've learned the changes began shortly after a new owner came in. Some of the changes we've noticed: The fish in the fish 'n chips is now buried in deep fried batter to the point I had to peel away most of the breading just to get to what little fish was there. The steak and eggs ($30) offers barely 4 ounces of steak, small heap of potatoes and two eggs...not enough to justify the price. They downgraded their organic, thick-cut pepper bacon to some odd, paper thin variety that is not very appealing and it would seem they no longer make their biscuits gravy in house! It now looks and tastes bland and pasty...industrialized. They used to have magnificent herbed gravy made from scratch so this is particularly disappointing. They no longer have real maple syrup. The prices remain that of an organic, farm-to-table but the food no longer qualifies and is very overpriced for what it is. I will really miss my Sunday mornings there but I just can't stomach these shortcomings. Very sad to see our favorite restaurant reduced to this state. Our server Zoey, was great and accommodating to our requests and conversation. I ordered the bacon Mac & cheese, very hearty and generous in size. We are pretty disappointed in this restaurant restaurant close to our new home in Eugene. While the host was excellent, the rest of the service was lacking. We arrived at 8:30, but that was well before closing time of 10 o'clock, yet we were virtually ignored for a good portion of the experience. The server could not be bothered to engage with beyond the basics but had plenty of time to engage in lengthy conversation with her fellow coworkers. Except for the host, the waitstaff and a cook were all just standing at the end of the bar chitchatting. Unfortunately the food was not that great either and not worth the price. I ordered the bacon mac & cheese, which was flavorless, and the chicken sandwich was good, but not anything to write home about. We were looking for a place to have Sunday brunch with our family. We were also celebrating our daughter-in-laws birthday and wanted it to be special. My wife did some research and found North Fork Tavern and the positive reviews. We also appreciated the fact they offered reservations through Open Table. We made a reservation for 11am and my wife called an hour or so before to double check that we could bring dessert to the restaurant to enjoy after brunch. The young woman who spoke to my wife was very friendly and helpful and assured her we could bring the dessert and they would also provide us plates and utensils. We were immediately greeted at the hostess station and taken to a large table which provided us plenty of room. We were given menus and our drink orders were taken. The brunch menu consisted of a good number of breakfast and lunch items and is available on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm. Our server was friendly and efficient and between the six of us, we ordered items such as the North Fork Burrito (eggs, pulled pork, cheddar, Monterey jack, onions, pepper, jalapenos, tomatoes, salsa, crema and guacamole). The steak and eggs (Oregon raised 8 oz grass fed flat iron, 2 eggs, with hand cut fries), the North Fork Burger with peppered bacon and no tomato and garlic aioli on the side (grass fed Oregon beef, butter lettuce, red onion, tomato, cheddar cheese garlic aioli on a locally baked bun with fries) and the PNW BLT (peppered bacon, thick cut bacon, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, garlic aioli on a toasted ciabatta with hand cut fries). The restaurant has a upscale yet relaxing feel and the prices are a bit on the higher end but we also realize the prices in the Willamette Valley are more than we are used to living now in North Carolina. Our food arrived in a timely manner and all looked delicious. We each dug into our meals and agreed that everything was yummy. When we were finished with our meals our server brought plates and something to cut the cheesecake with and we didn't even have to ask or remind her, which was appreciated. Gone way downhill in the last year. North Fork used to be my wife's favorite place; we even held our wedding rehearsal dinner there. But no longer. The menu had dropped some favorites (like the flatbreads). And other dishes are there but have been ruined--neither the steak frites nor the strawberry field salad are worth eating, due to changes in the dressings and the preparation. Their people were great too, but several of them are no longer there, including the bartender Matt. We came here last week to see if things have improved any, but they haven't. I was impressed with my burger and the ranch was very good as well. The team working behind the bar was great and made sure I always had what I needed. My burger was an absolute juice bomb. I haven't had a burger that juicy in quite some time and it made me happy to see a place that can still cook a burger to right temperature. We met friends for dinner at Northfork a couple weeks ago on a Friday night, so it was busy (to be expected). About 25 minutes after we ordered, the waiter came by to tell us our food would be ready soon, that things were backed up in the kitchen due to one of the two fryers being broken. We wondered why he didn't mention this when we placed our order as we would have ordered something other than fish & chips. After another 20 minutes our food finally arrived. My husband bit into his fish and discovered it was cold inside, as was mine. Our waiter took back our food, we waited another 20 minutes before it came back, this time fully cooked. There was no apology for the wait or the undercooked food, and no offer to buy our drinks or give us a free dessert for having to wait so long! We get that things happen, but you've got to take care of your customers. There are a lot of good restaurants in Eugene. We will be going elsewhere next time. read more

We just had a really negative experience here and didn't even get to eat. Arriving, we got there just before another party of four and held the door for them so we all entered together. The host was on the phone and when she hung up, she grabbed the other four and took them back to a table. My wife and I shrugged, it happens, how bad could it be? Pretty bad, it turns out. She was gone for a while so someone else came to help us and told us we were looking at 30 minutes for a table. We shared our frustration about what had happened and he was apologetic and after a minute promised us a table in "about 10 minutes" and presumably added us to the list so we sat back to wait. Five minutes later, another party walked in. No reservation, and the host seated them immediately. When she came back, she asked us if we were waiting then said we weren't on the list. We shared what had happened and then every step afterwards, she kept trying to offload blame (variously us and the other guy who had spoken with us) and told us we could be seated in another "30 minutes". By this point, we'd been there almost 15 minutes so, frustrated, we decided to go elsewhere. We stood out front with our friends trying to decide and the host came out a minute later just long enough to blame us ("we usually prefer people speak up") before dipping back into the restaurant. I've eaten here before and have had good experiences, but tonight's has soured me on this restaurant a LOT. read more

Good visit! The fried chicken was great and seasoned very well, the cornbread paired nicely, but was a touch dry. The hot sauce and balsamic glaze were wonderful. The service quality and ambiance of the restaurant were both highlights, very comfortable atmosphere all around. I've eaten here before, and the food has always been consistently good. However, tonight's experience left me a bit confused by their policy. We were a party of six, and there were no "large party tables" available. I asked the hostess if we could use two empty four-seater tables instead, but she explained that their policy doesn't allow splitting a party across two tables. I even suggested we split into two groups of three and pay separately as if we were two parties, but after checking with the manager, the answer was still no. This policy feels unnecessarily rigid--especially when the tables were available. It's hard to understand why they would choose to turn away over $200 in business rather than accommodate a simple request. In the end, we went across the street to a bar and grill that had no problem accommodating us. I'm giving 3 stars because the hostess was very kind, and the food has been great in the past. That said, I hope the management reconsiders this policy in the future. read more

We made a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was scheduled. The next day a manager called and told me that did not have any open spots, they we over booked. Thus, he canceled our reservation and told us to find another option. Saying your sorry is great and all, but having family all come together with no place to meet or eat (we dont live near there) is not helpful. Canceling without giving us options is poor service. How does a computer program allow you to over book when your appointment taker told me it was open when he said he looked? I'm confused and unhappy. read more

This is a classic brewpub setup. A great menu with brunch options on the weekends. They make good cocktails (I have the Blackberry Bourbon Smash) and have a good variety of beers. We had some classic brunch items - eggs Benny, shrimp & grits and a breakfast burrito. Their menu does change occasionally so always check the whole menu before ordering to see if there is something new. Parking can be a little bit of a challenge in the area but nothing too difficult. Just be sure you read signs bc there are some resident only areas. The staff is friendly and they have a partial open kitchen design. Beautiful bar with lots of seating. read more
