The Monkey's Paw - Guinness the coolest and oldest dog ever at Monkeys Paw - Tiki Bars Near Me - Springfield, Oregon

"Insubstantial" is the best word to summarize this bar. Monkey's Paw feels like a temporary pop-up store: there's plenty of seating, but it feels impermanent as if they hadn't fully moved in. The decor feels arbitrary and hasn't grown in the 3 years between my visits. The bartop is tiny despite plenty of wide open space in the venue, adding to that empty feeling. But it's the only tiki bar for miles and it has a unique tiki + horror theme that I appreciate: emphasizing creepy mugs, playing vintage Godzilla on the TV, and a collection of drinks named after monsters. They also have custom mugs for sale, which is always awesome to see. My partner enjoyed her Chinese Mai Tai, but my Bride of Frankenstein tasted like light cream. The service was good. They were professional and personable and bantered well with everyone around the bar. There seemed to be plenty of regulars making the rounds in the early afternoon. So if you're in Eugene and want a tiki drink, this is the place to go. read more

Saturday early happy hour. Most drinks are super sweet and feature rum rum rum. But you can get a vodka soda if you are not feeling the Tiki Vibe. N/A drinks are fun and plentiful. This place is total Tiki complete with Rainstorms, Lava Lamps and fish tank TV's. The dark ambiance alleviates the glaring need for a deep clean! Drink up and Hula!! read more

I loved this place. We met up with some friends here and had the place almost to ourselves. The bartender was great and attentive. The lighting is pretty dark. The drinks were so good there was not one drink we got that we did not love. Lots of cute decor. Tons of seating. The pool table was free to use which was nice. There is a lot of street parking and parking lot in the front on the bar. Would come back for sure.Great service! read more

Gotta love a good Tiki Bar! We had an hour to kill before an appointment so we Yelped unique bars in the area and found The Monkey's Paw in Springfield. The profile looked pretty cool so we decided to go there for a drink. Once inside, it was pretty dark which is typical for a Tiki Bar. The decor was very good and there was a lot of it around. My fave was the mermaid skeleton above our seats. The drinks options were plentiful and they even had jello shots for a bargain price (we had a few of these for good measure!). I had The Monkey's Paw classic drink and another in our party had The Invisible Man drink. Each was lovingly prepared by the bartender who was super cool with the prep and conversations we had with him. I loved walking around and looking at all the decor on the walls and ceiling. There's a lot to see. There's even a door that leads to a courtyard with several food trucks ready to serve you. There is a stage near the entrance for bands and a small dance floor. I would love to return one evening to check out the atmosphere and do a little boogeying! Give this place a try. It's a well done Tiki Bar and one of the better ones I've been to. read more

I love tiki bars and this one fits the vibe with a cool twist. Loved monkey paw from the moment I stepped in. Plenty of seating, food trucks right outside with more seating, a pool table, and fun classic horror movie references throughout the decor and menu. Drinks were also yummy and fun to try! Like most tiki bars, the drinks were on the sweet side, but the bartender was very accommodating in making the drinks a little less sweet when I asked. read more

Stepping into the Monkey's Paw gave me the mini getaway I was craving. The decor was traditional tiki filled with fun pieces that were definitely collected with admiration. From the carved koa wood to fun lamps and vintage floats, this place is a stunning eye pleaser. The barkeep was top-notch. Warm and inviting. He made perfect tiki drinks. His knowledge of rum was thrilling. Ask to read the book about rum flights. They put together an array of fun information that will increase your thirst for rum. I tend to judge tiki bars on their Mai Tai, and their take on the classic Trader Vics did not disappoint. What a perfect blend of rums and house made orgeat. That's how you know you found your tiki place. Some nights they have live music, so you can get down to some pulp fiction surf classics. There are food trucks outside that you can bring in something to nosh. I can't wait to go back. You'll find a cozy corner to fall in love. What are y'all waiting for? Get in here. read more

Monkey's Paw Tiki Bar is a nice, chill spot to hang out and relax. They've got a great outdoor setup with a good variety of food trucks out back, so there's always something new to try. The atmosphere is laid-back and fun, and the drinks are top notch. I went for my wife's birthday and they gave her a really cool birthday drink for free, which was a great touch! Definitely a place I'll be coming back to. read more

This was a fun, chill place to grab a pre-dinner drink on our anniversary date. The bartender was very friendly and welcoming when we said it was our first time visiting. And we had the place to ourselves at 5 o'clock on a Monday. The cocktails are great and a little more affordable than what other places charge for a cocktail these days. I went with the 'painkiller' and I would order it again. We also opted for some nachos from Squachos and it was a great pairing with our drinks. I would visit here again for a pre-dinner cocktail or for a night out with friends. read more

I am a fan of Tiki bars and this place did not disappoint. I read about this place in the traveler's magazine and am so glad to visit this place. The place brings you into a different world from Main Street Springfield. This place does not serve food, but has food trucks outside its building. The drinks are great and has reasonable prices. Our bar tender was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Please come and visit this place the next time you are in the Springfield/Eugene area. read more

This might be my favorite bar in all of Eugene and Springfield. I love a good tiki bar! The cocktails are always delicious, the atmosphere and decor is well done, and they have food trucks outside so you can stay for a while and enjoy a meal. With the late November temps dropping and a forecast for ice fog, you might think you'd need to take a trip to the South Pacific to change your "latitude" in Springfield...but you'd be wrong. The Monkey's Paw is the reason why. And like any Tiki Bar worth its salt, when you walk through the door you'll be transported to a tropical, dimly lit, mysterious place with dangerous sounding drinks like The Monkey's Paw (this Tiki bar's namesake), Sidewinder's Fang and the Scorpion Bowl. And like any legit Tiki bar, the drinks are strong, shaken into existence with a blend of fervor and Kahuna sorcery. After one of these drinks, you'll be so convinced you're in some tropical place you might just expect a coconut to fall on your head. Mele Kalikimaka! read more

I've been here twice and love the vibe. I have a Nosferatu tattoo and immediately felt at home . They have a bunch of oldie horror movie references which I adore! As far as drinks go, they're pretty good! They have drinks that are "order for 2" which I think is a really neat thing to have on their menu, I haven't seen other bars do that before. Im a big cocktail fan and they have so pretty amazing concoctions. I had 2 Painkillers and they were super yummy The art they have hung up is super kitschy in a pop culture way, I think it goes with the whole scene of the tiki bar. They have a dope neon aquarium that looks super healthy and clean which I really appreciate!! read more

Gooood vibes all around. All the bartenders we ordered from or spoke to were great. The drinks were DELICIOUS , admittedly not as strong as the Las Vegas'n in me is used to but also the prices were beyond fair IMO given that. The whole place was cool. True to the tiki theme and will definitely come back hungry so we can try the food carts outside. Definitely recommend! read more

These guys nailed the tiki experience! We had a great time trying multiple signature and classic tiki cocktails. The Scorpion Bowl was served in a custom made ceramic bowl complete with pyrotechnics. So much fun. The staff is really friendly and service was great. The atmosphere is loaded with vintage finds that is like a fun kitschy museum. There's an impressive collection of food trucks right outside the door in addition to a few food items offered in-house. We had a little of both. Really looking forward to coming back with a group of friends, but it was also a perfect date night. read more

This place is super fun! It has a dark, yet colorful interior that is completely decorated in the Tiki style from floor to ceiling (even both of their bathrooms are decorated and themed--Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Creature From the Black Lagoon). The server greeted us and brought over menus immediately--we hadn't even taken off our coats and sat down before they were at our table! There was plenty of seating both at the bar and around the lounge. They also had a pool table and a door that leads directly to a group of food trucks outside (we had eaten dinner beforehand so we did not actually get to try any, but it is a nice option). They have a ton of different cocktails, some mock tails, as well as beer and their own small food menu. We ended up ordering 2 rounds and got the following drinks: - Creature From the Black Lagoon - The Monkeys Paw - El Diablo - Blue Hawaii All very delicious, and, again, super fun! My favorite was the Creature From the Black Lagoon--not only was it very yummy, but it was the prettiest lavender color from the ube. We will definitely be back to try some of their other cocktails! read more

4 stars just for the vibes!! This place was SUPER cool to hangout for a few drinks. It was my brother in laws birthday, and we each got different drinks but not going to lie some of them were just....odd! I was in town for some urgent family business and needed to get away from hospitals, nursing homes and family. Not knowing any bar at all in town, I just had to try a place that would call itself, "The Monkey's Paw". Tiki bar on steroids! Dim light, black lights, crazy collection of Pacific Island artifacts. This place was great. I'm a big fan of Tiki and anything Hawaiian. I was looking for something while I was doing a trip across Oregon and I just saw happened to come across a few tiki bars. They all sucked. Some had the decorations others had just the name, while others didn't resemble a tiki bar at all. Until I came to this place the monkeys paw what a great establishment. They had all the decor, the right lighting and the correct music. What more can one ask for. When you go into this place, you feel totally immersed and like your escape to another place you don't even feel like you're in Oregon. Help this was extremely helpful kind and really made our day. I liked it so much. I actually bought it souvenir glass I plan on going back to Oregon about every six months. I'm hoping that they survive for many years as this place will be my new watering hole . So I highly recommend it and hope that if you're ever going through Oregon and specifically near Eugene or Salem or somewhere along that route that you stop here, beautiful Springfield and escape the dreads and worries of this world here at the monkeys paw! Have a great day and great eats read more
