Reading the reviews we were expecting a real hole in the wall. This place is great! Walk in and there are TVs everywhere. Each booth even has its own tv. We had the breakfast menu for the 10am game. Tons of options. We got a half order of biscuit and gravy (it was good but a little more herby than I care for a breakfast gravy). Next was the pancakes, eggs and bacon & French toast, eggs and bacon. The eggs were a little too wet for our liking but not bad. Bacon was perfectly crispy. French toast and pancakes were good - they had a cinnamon esque taste. Bloody Mary's were amazing! Pickled asparagus & beans in it. Yes! Also they had a sour beer from Backside Brewing that was awesome. The service was great - very attentive and always checking in. My husband and I love Sunday breakfast/brunch but hate how long wait times can be because ~shocker~ everyone else also loves Sunday breakfast/brunch. I think we've finally found a spot where we can avoid all that! We always assumed Side Bar was just a sports bar (which it is) but it also offers food (thank you Yelp!). There were plenty of other people when we arrived, but we were able to find a table immediately. They have a good amount of options on the menu along with fun breakfast cocktails. We ultimately decided to split the Eggs Benedict (it had a unique cilantro-lime hollandaise sauce that was delicious) and the Stuffed French Toast (they use rosemary focaccia bread which is also a fun twist! This place is my little hidden gem for brunch on the weekends! When you need good food without the long wait or crowding of your usual brunch spot come here. I've always had good service and I love that's it's more empty in the mornings/early afternoons since it's mainly marketed as a bar. They have something for everyone on the menu. We got the Monte Cristo, Stuffed French Toast and Prime Rib Eggs Benedict. The Monte Cristo is a turkey, ham, cheddar and swiss sandwich dunked in egg batter, fried & then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Berry sauce comes on the side making it the perfect combo of super savory and sweet! The Stuffed French Toast comes with a cream cheese berry sauce in the middle and fresh berries on top. The Prime Rib Eggs Benedict was the special and came with a house made hollandaise sauce. Everything was super tasty and quick to come out. I also ordered a side of their bacon because I like my bacon super crispy, but not burnt and they always do it perfect. Definitely check them out! read more

I don't know why this place gets such low reviews. For a bar it's wonderful! You get sports, good food, strong drinks and video poker. I have found the service prompt. I am not sure about the reviews that speak to slow service. I have always been approached within five minutes. And the food is good. If a bar can do a good salad (and they can) the rest of the food will be ok. They have a great selection of appetizers, salads, sandwhiches, wraps, burgers, pasta and other entrees. They also do brunch on the weekends. If you want a casual spot with good food and drinks, come here. This is my favorite bar in town. read more

Man oh man. First time here. Was excited to check it out.. but damn was it a bummer of an experience. Walk in & sit at the middle of the bar.. three bartenders walk past me numerous times and finally after 10 minutes, I'm asked if i want a drink. (They aren't crazy busy at all) Order my drink and burger right then. About 25-30 minutes go by and the bartender who took my order sees me eyeballing the kitchen, and proceeds to check on my order for me. Comes back and says "it's the next ticket." I say "alright cool, i appreciate it." Another 10-15 minutes go by, a different bartender asks "want another beer?" I respond "no thanks, but i'd like my burger that i ordered 40+ minutes ago." They now go check on it in the kitchen and come back with "it's the next ticket" I responded "that's what the other bartender told me over 10 minutes ago" They reply "idk, that's just what i saw when I checked." ANOTHER 10-15minutes go by.. my food finally arrives. Football game is over at this point. (I arrived during the 3rd quarter mind you) I immediately ask for a box and the check. No apologies, no comps, not anything. I still tipped 17% because i'm not a shit human, but damn I probably shouldn't have. Poor service all around! In from out of town last night...First I saw a bartender who was working at Docs Pad when I visited before. He recognized me, gave me a hug and is such a great guy & bartender! It was nice to see him at this sweet Karoake spot! Love this place! So clean and has a great beer selection, which is served super cold and makes me so happy. Best part is, the food is actually really damn good. BUT, you have to come when Adan is cooking! He treats his food like it's something he would serve to people he cares about. The presentation is beautiful, the meat is perfect and not at all dry, the flavors are bomb and you can tell he knows what he's doing. This place is as average as it comes. Nothing special about the tap list just the usually choices. The glasses were also kinda warm which was bad. But the main reason why I'm only giving it two stars was the service and food. The service was extremely slow and rude. It was a Sunday night and kinda busy. She probably didn't expect the rush I'll give her that but she questioned everything we ordered and wasn't confident on how long things would take. For the food we ordered a few appetizers. Motzerilla sticks, nachos, bruschetta and jalapeño poppers. The motzerilla sticks were by far the best. The ranch was also Homemade and great. No complaints. The nachos basic, nothing special and kinda boring, needed jalapeños and avocados. Bruschetta, a very interesting choice for bar food and it was just okay again. Tomatos needed to be cut smaller, and needed more seasoning. Also the bread choice was not it. And now for the jalapeno poppers, I usually love these and when I think of jalapeño poppers I think of fried goodness but nope. These are wrapped in meat and not even fried. I guess I could have read the description but they should stick to the classic style And not try to go fancy with it. Served Luke warm as well. Will not be back. read more

Before Covid I used to be a regular at the Side Bar, but the virus wasn't kind to me and now I'm using a wheelchair. I went back today for the first time since getting the chair, and found that the place wasn't as accessible as during my ambulatory days. Still, the staff bent over backwards to find a lower-level folding table and frequently checked on me to make sure I had everything I needed without having to chase anyone down. Even the other customers were helpful, holding doors for me and moving their chairs so I could get to the restroom. All in all it was outstanding and the food and beer were just as great as I remembered. Thanks for making my first outing in my wheelchair such a positive and encouraging experience! Great spot to spend a NFL Sunday. Side Bar has the Sunday Ticket package, and their booths all have individual TV's so you can watch whatever game you want, how epic is that?! It gets better, they have early HH on Sunday's as well, food and drink specials so affordable, I can't mention them here. Sidebar is a fine bar usually packed with Eugene locals. Friday nights they do karaoke which is probably the only day worth going; however, the man that runs karaoke seemingly recruits his posse every Friday night that allow him to be featured in almost every song that is played. This creates an atmosphere where anyone who isn't part of that this posse has to wait over an hour to get a slot. He won't let you sing a song that is a little longer than the duration of a normal one, but is happy to jump on the mic with his friends for 4 songs in a row. If you plan to attend karaoke on a Friday I would recommend Monkey's Paw in Springfield. Food is mediocre and drinks are fine. read more

Friendly staff, very well made mixed drinks, and the food was beyond tasty. Had a wonderdul time with my husband and would go back again. Only reason for the 4 star review, is that the employees would take off their masks behind the bar, then put it back on to help a customer and not wash their hands. The Side Bar deserves a re-review. I know it's not a huge bump, but i'll move mine up to 3.5 stars. I was in here during the NBA All Star game with a friend of mine. We came down to watch the game and grab some food and brews. Side Bar is great for a medium sized crowd. They have booths with ample seating, spots at the bar, and then they have some tables that sit in the middle of the floor separating the booths from the bar. We sat at the tables so we could have a good view of the game on the big screen. All was well, but the most frustrating part of this visit was that we had to watch the game with no sound at all. Don't get it twisted, I often watch football/basketball with no sound at all, it's certainly not needed. But when I go somewhere, or if I sit down to fully watch a game, I want to listen to the damn thing. We asked for the sound to be turned on, but they had a documentary on Bo Jackson on, and that had all the audio. I'm a fan of Bo Jackson, the man's a legend! But can we please listen/watch the All Star game? The food was decent, I ordered the Black and Bleu burger with fries. There was a heaping pile of bleu cheese on my burger, and a huge pile of fries served on the side. The fries are awesome may I add. Somewhat of a twisted/pealed spud that is much larger than your everyday average fry. The beer selection could be a little more, but they have Boneyard IPA on tap, and as long as they have that, i'll never bitch or complain. I actually had the chance to come here again last week with some co-workers and we all had a really good time in the Copa Room! ( A 5 star trip may I add) If you're not sure what the Copa Room is, it's a private room that you access 'through' the phone booth in the other side of the bar. It's a pretty cool concept, and it fit 12-14 of us just fine. When you rent out the private room, you get your own bar and bar tender. It has 1 large screen TV and a monitor so you can see who is trying to enter the Copa room when it's locked. The server we had was a great guy, really attentive, and did a good job of making fruity drinks for the fruity taste buds. (I dont have Fruity tastebuds, but my co-workers do. One guy described his "Ninja Turtle" as a Magical waterfall...I'll take another IPA please) I really do want to give this place 4 stars, but I can't say, "I'm a fan!" I can certainly say that it's, "A-OK", I think if service was a little more on par for those who are walk-ins, that they would have a lot more business than they currently do. I came here because it was the only place we could find with the NFL game we were looking for. I quickly read the reviews and got a bit nervous because of all the bad ones. My experience here was actually great and my boyfriend and I will for sure be back! It's really nice inside, lots of seating, tons of TVs! Our server was so nice and recommended different beers on tap. We ordered the nachos as a snack while we watched the game and let me say....BEST nachos I've had in a LONG time! Has anyone noticed how some bars and restaurants have it pretty well together and handling the COVID Phase I and Phase II reopening regs and requirements pretty well and some are not? .Sidebar is NOT. The first thing you notice is the massive bar to ceiling plexiglass barrier dividing the bar and the bar stools that some places are putting in place. This particular one is very poorly installed, crooked, and has openings in places. Between the ambient bar noise, the barrier, and the mask on the bartender you can't hear a thing. So.. you have to walk to the side of the barrier to place an order. Boy oh boy.. good thing we have all that glass to protect us! The barrier is something they will get right with time. That is, if the bartender and wait staff don't completely chase people off. I found both of them to be overtly stressed and generally unfriendly when they greeted me. After getting my beer, I went into the other room to read the paper and realized that the booth was too dark, so I moved to the next one. The waitress didn't like that at all and read me the riot act. I politely said I couldn't see my paper and had to get closer to the door. She then went on to explain in her experience, once people change booths they keep doing it. Really? It should be noted that I was alone in this room and she thought I was going to sit at every table? Regardless, this isn't something you give your customer a lecture about. After going to get the bar rag, she probably spent 2 minutes "sanitizing" and served me without a smile for the rest of my stay, not that she was friendly to start with. Overall, this is one of those small bars twhere a good staff can can make a difference, the difference made in my visit wasn't good. I'd pass on this place and head down to Bangers and Mash 1/4 mile down the road. read more

What made me upset is that we were outside seated since they said they were at capacity but other people behind us did the same thing and got seating inside first.
