We always love grabbing a meal here! The servers are always really great and there is a ton of seating indoors and outdoors! We always opt for the outdoor seating, there is heaters and fire tables. The food is always warm and delicious and there is a big menu with a ton of different choices. The steak bites are one of my favorites here! We were greeted and seated quickly. Kinda busy, maybe 50% full when we sat down. There are lots of TVs with football games on. We were here on Sunday early afternoon. Waited about 15 minutes to be asked for our order, not bad but not great. Friendly, courteous and helpful. We sat on the family side. Music playing was at an appropriate volume. Food was served quickly. I thought the OMG I ordered was a hot sandwich, it was just warm, it was still a good sandwich. Good fries and fry sauce and the fries were crispy and crunchy. Came in today with my husband and baby and waited to be seated for five minutes but received zero acknowledgement so we ended up leaving. Browsed the menu hoping at least someone would tell us that they'd be with us shortly. I had a burger, fries, and a Diet Pepsi. The burger was ok, but the patty was thin. There were very few fries. Received the bill, which was $22.50. There was a mandatory 20% tip pre-included, because I was part of 'a group' of people. I went to talk to the restaurant manager, was told s/he was unavailable (doubtful on a Friday evening). Was offered a talk with the bar manager; I agreed. Staff called to her, but she yelled out that she was too busy to talk. This should never be the case. They were completely understaffed, which is their issue, not mine. I tried to talk with the staff person, who kept cutting me off, not letting me speak. She finally turned around and wouldn't talk at all to me. I don't mind tipping for good service, but I had received poor service. Initially they forgot about my drink, no one checked if my food was alright, no refill offer on the drink. Couple this with rude staff and a mandatory 20% tip--I won't be back. Our server (Shayna G) was extremely rude and more interested in checking her reflection in the window than focusing on her job. Gateway grill needs to work on greeting customers and make them feel welcome. We walked in and stood there with 3 other couples. 3-4 employees walked up to bar looked at us and never said a word.. I frequent GG many times a month and have found that this is pretty normal service. I bought the slider plate which said 3 sliders on it. I only got 2 and some fries. I was charged more than the menu said. The slider patties tasted like the cheapest frozen patties. We came here for brunch on a Saturday. The location is very easy on and off interstate 5 and in an area with several hotels and other restaurants. Yelp says they are closed on Saturdays. That is incorrect, they're open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. We came with family that are regular patrons. The business offers a loyalty card that rewards customers $10 for every $100 spent. We chose a booth in the bar area but they also have another regular seating area with lots of tables. We were immediately greeted, given menus and ordered drinks.the server returned shortly with the drinks and we placed our food order. My wife chose the country omelette with home fries and toast, I chose the French dip and the other two at our table ordered other breakfast items. Our meals were delivered in a timely fashion and everything looked really good. My wife said her omelette was very good and I also enjoyed the French dip. Overall this was a good experience, service was good, prices are very reasonable, food tasty. It's just not quite a five-star experience for us. read more
