It's been a bit since I've reviewed Twisted Duck, and I've had multiple experiences here. It is a hidden gem and the owner is working hard to create a nice atmosphere and build a name for his business. He hasn't quite nailed consistency yet, but it's clear he's trying. After my original experience, I wasn't sure I wanted to return. But I happened to see him advertising for a new chef not too long after, and I figured that was a good time to try again. I still love that he supports other small businesses, like the butcher shop next door, the bakery across the street, and my favorite brewery in Corvallis as well. Nothing makes me happier than seeing small business supporting each other. I have a complete love affair with their tacos every Tuesday, and my inner fat kid craves them constantly. Friday, my husband and I went in for the prime rib special. It is a 12 ounce prime rib, baked potato, and chowder or salad for $25. We also enjoyed an amazing beer from Block 15, which is like my favorite brewery ever. Service is great, I've never had a complaint there. The owner is always there working, everybody working works. The owner and chef both bring food out if the bartender is busy. It's clear nothing sits and waits. Everything is everyone's job, and I have huge respect for that. I am really glad I decided to give Twisted Duck another try, because every experience gets better and better, and I'm always happy to see a small business growing and becoming very successful. read more

I've gone to this pub twice. The first time was around 9:30 pm, and as I walked in with a few friends for dinner and beers, the owner said "Sorry, I'm closing up early because it's slow". We just gave the place a second chance the other night, and made sure to arrive earlier. Got there at about 8:00 pm, and the lights were on, some people were inside, but the door was locked and the Open sign was off. Private event I guess? I noticed that the business hours sign posted at the door now lists the closing time for every day of the week as "slow". Not wasting my time again. read more

I ate here for the first time recently and had a very pleasant experience. It's on the small side, the atmosphere was quiet, with a very pleasant eclectic mix of background music playing- just loud enough to add ambience but not intrusive. I found it to be a truly relaxing place to visit. The beer selection is not extensive, but they did have Stella in a bottle which is a lager I enjoy. They also have Guinness so on a subsequent visit I may go that route. I'm not an IPA guy so I can't comment on those, but it appeared there were several on tap. If they had a porter or stout on tap I'd add a half star. I ordered a Reuben and it came on a good rye bread with a few caraway seeds- hard to find in these parts - it reminded me of life back east. The corned beef itself apparently comes from the meat shop next door and was tasty though a bit stringy- probably someone forgot to cut across the grain. Just the right amount of sauerkraut and Russian dressing, and cooked on a flat top grill. What else could you ask for? Well, me being foodie me, I asked if they could cook it in real butter and they were more than happy to oblige. I ordered the side salad for a $2 uplift. It was a generous serving but nothing special although it featured a fair amount of radish if that's something you enjoy. My server was Holly, who was among the most pleasant restaurant staff I've encountered in a very long time. Warm, friendly, and attentive, but never intrusive in any way. I felt genuinely welcome, and that is becoming rare these days. On the service alone, I am likely to return. If you haven't tried the Twisted Duck, I'd recommend you give it a try! read more

Great food and great service in a very casual, laid back atmosphere. We had a lovely Thanksgiving meal at this spot two days ago. Turned out to be one of the best "Friendsgiving" experiences we've had in a while. I wish I had a picture of the humongous plate of Thanksgiving food that I promptly devoured. The Twisted Duck is a hidden gem. The owner, Ray, has done a nice job revamping the bar/restaurant. He is making it a fun and welcoming place to go! For instance, the free Blues Jam on Wednesday evening is high energy and entertaining! The food is very good, thanks to chef Danny Kindrock and his skill and creativity in the kitchen! He makes the best Reuben and his specials are unique and delicious!! Easily four stars! read more

I "used to" love this place Literally, my "go-to" bar.. the place that my car would just drive to automatically. See my last review in March, I'm a legit long time customer and I'm posting this review tp get you current on this place 9-3-19. What's changed? Well, pretty much everything. Ray, the owner, is gone. The family that he built that made this place so fun, gone. Top shelf whiskey collection, gone, Choice cut Prime Rib on Fridays. no more. I went in there the other night (because my car drove me there) and the vibe was a complete downer with a few drunks staring into their drinks. The Twisted Duck is now The Dead Duck. My new favorite little (newer) place. Delicious burgers, w REAL French fries... not the battered crud served by so many other restaurants these days. Yummy Chicken-Fried Steak w choice of taters and bread-/ even biscuits! Prefer your hash brows stuffed w bacon, cheese, sour cream? The up-charge is $2. The steak and egg breakfast was awesome// $9!!! A nice offering of Burgers with generously portioned side dishes are all under $10. They do offer burger and brew night for $9. Ridiculous! Haha! I was hesitant going here, being more like a bar than a brewpub, but it turned out to be just fine. I had a bacon hamburger and the patty was absolutely delicious. The meat comes from next door's meat market Benedetti's. Also, the bacon was very good. Strangely, it is served between 2 slices of white toast. Good, but rather strange. My tater tots were crispy. My hubby' s French fries were limp and tasteless. The beer selection was rather pathetic for a brew pub: just 2 choices for Porter or Stout on tab...... The wait staff was nicely attentive without being overbearing. It being a bar and brewpub, there were enough tv's around but the people playing pool were horribly foul-mouthed. Not Okay!! I think I would have asked them to tone it down some.... it being still early in the evening and all tables being occupied. The bill was very reasonable with $10 for a bacon burger with fries or tator tots, and $4.50 for beer on tap. read more

The food is delicious and the portions are huge. Great prices. The fries are excellent. It is in an out of the way shopping center but close enough to Autzen Stadium and PK Park that it is a good place to visit before or after a game. The wine and beer were priced well and they even have champagne. Ask about their "pound of bacon". The service is top notch also. read more

Just tried The Twisted Duck over on Centennial Blvd in Springfield (just a short distance from Autzen Stadium). The owner welcomed us straight away, and gave us just the right amount of attention during our meal. My husband had the Blue Cheese & Bacon Burger -- excellent burger, from meat to toppings to bun! -- I had the Friday steak special -- prepared exactly the way I like it. The cook came out to be sure we were happy, which we thought was very nice. The bacon on my husband's burger was so good that we might be back to get the 1 pound bacon appetizer and enjoy some of the specialty bourbon! We give this two thumbs up! read more
