The ambiance is very tropical and fun, and love that they have such a spacious bathroom! They have an extensive drinks menu, like several pages long! With so many guava, pineapple and coconut-based options, it was honestly confusing on what to get but we decided on the classics: the Lei Lani Volcano and Lava Flow. The drinks were so creamy and delicious yet dangerously strong! Also, can we talk about the portion sizes? My drink was literally the size of my face, like what?!! It is best to come here in large groups because their shared drinks/scorpion bowls are a total showstopper! It is in a very upscale neighborhood of Portland called Grant Park, so it was fun to walk around and see all the cool houses - there was one imitating a thatched roof and what not. Worth checking out the neighborhood before or after visiting Hale Pele.

Planned out a long layover and I'm glad I did, this was one of the best tiki bars I have ever been to. Not only were the cocktails top tier, but the food was wildly delicious, shocking... I can not wait to make some time to drive up and visit again with my wife.

We were seated immediately and were brought water quickly. I ordered the turkey fireside cranberry sandwich with tots and my partner ordered the Carmela's chicken sandwich. We finished with the strawberry cheesecake. The food was all pretty good. There wasn't a whole lot of turkey on my sandwich, so I was wishing there was more. I also couldn't taste the cranberry sauce very much. The tots were good and the ranch they came with was also good. The dessert was a nice way to end the meal and wasn't too heavy. We noticed an....interesting....pattern in the wood carving on the wall by our table. Not sure how they never noticed it before it made it on the wall but there's no way they haven't seen or been told about it since then. We definitely weren't expecting....that! The restaurant was clean and wasn't too loud. They have a good amount of parking in their lot. There are only two stalls in the bathroom so it can have a bit of a line when it's busy. This was my second time going to North Bank. It's a bit pricey but it's a good treat and a nice place to take a friend who is visiting from out of town.

The menu looks like tiki drinks, but the Jungle Bird and Scorpion were absurdly bitter and tasted nothing like their namesakes. The host at the front seemed completely put off by our arrival. Our server was friendly but seemed new and made a few mistakes. Their burgers are large, but do not come with fries. Every burger should come with fries, especially at this high price point. For what it is, the space is pleasant, especially sitting by the window and watching the river. We did, however, see a fully developed spiderweb in a surprisingly conspicuous spot inside. The more McMenamins I visit, the less sold I am on their value proposition.

It's especially great for date night or a fun girls' night out. If you plan on coming, definitely make a reservation because seating is limited and it fills up quickly! The experience is what makes this place so special. They roll around little carts, almost dim sum style, with fun bites and drinks like mini cocktail drinks like an espresso martini, oysters, tacos, and desserts. It's such a unique concept and always a hit when I bring friends here. The space is cozy with an elevated tiki-inspired vibe, and they recently added a nice outdoor patio. It's a little on the pricey side, but you're paying for the atmosphere and experience, and I think it's worth it! The staff are always warm and upfront about wait times, so if you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait.

We reserved on Tock, and it was mostly full on a Friday night. Drinks: lots of local beers are available, but I went with the Pineapple Express: she warned it was spicy, and it indeed was (in a really good way). All of the food is done family style: - Clams Galicia: with tomato, chorizo, bacon broth. This broth as amazing. I literally drank it with a spoon - Pan con tomate: slightly different from classic preparation - more flavorful and heavier on the toppings - Salmorejo: tomato and bread puree, Serrano, jammy egg - like a creamy gazpacho - Grilled asparagus: with whipped ricotta and a cured egg yolk - Squid ink pasta: with hazelnuts, caramelized onions, peppers, and a runny egg yolk, a bit spicy. This dish was my favorite - Honey brined pork chop with a basque piperade sauce The servers were all great about checking in. I would definitely recommend the squid ink pasta and the clams if you're in town!
