The bar

I can't say enough about this place. The food is excellent. The place is clean! Even the floors. The price for a cheese burger was $5.95 and fried were $.50 more. The really impressive part was that it was real fresh ground meet. Not those frozen preformed patty's and the beef alone was delicious. The tater tots were super crispy and not at all greasy. The person serving was super sweet. It was a great experience. I'll definitely be going back. I'm excited to try many things on their menu. Greatest neighborhood bar I've ever been in.

Stromboli

Moved to a new town, a new neighborhood, new job, time to find a new walkable hangout place. Mission accomplished. Kelli's fits the bill, small, cozy, unpretentious, lots of local, super attentive staff, plenty of monitors for watching a game if you are into sports, drinks are super cheap and heavily poured. Stone IPA is $3.50 a pint all the time, if you want more mass marketed macro stuff, PBR pints only $1.75. Standard tavern menu with sandwiches, burgers, etc, but also have homemade pizza and Stromboli. Tried the Stromboli on this venture and it was super, great dough, filled with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and opinions with a nicely flavorful sauce on the side. Might have to pick oa Kelli's night and make it a weekly tradition.

Wolfhounds Bar & Grill - Half rueben and maidenless mixed drink. Delicious!

We walked in on a whim for our first visit -- no homework, no planning. We will definitely return…read more Ambiance: comfortable, both cool and cozy. Music was excellent; audible but not intrusive. Comfy chairs. Lower lighting, well placed. Service was excellent, friendly and fast. I think our server's name was Mikayla; a gem. Attentive and observant but never intrusive. Drinks: my old fashioned was absolutely perfect and my husband's margarita was fine. Appetizers: beer cheese was well balanced and a bit runny, which I prefer over the library paste version some places serve. The elotes dip was a standout, mildly spicy, with lime in the cilantro, and warm, crispy chips. (Whatever is in their seasoning for chips and fries should be sold separately -- I wanted to try it on everything.) We probably should have stopped there, as the portions were abundant, but our mains were amazing. Smash burger was insanely juicy, nice and onion-y with a few Crunchy Brown Bits around the edges. The roll was fresh and tender, with a good crust; flavorful, not just a shingle. The fries were the best I've had in Salem. Get the garlic-thyme upgrade; you won't regret it. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they were out of both compound butters, apparently due to a busy Friday, but everything was well seasoned. The vegetable of the day was roasted Brussels sprouts with a sweet-and-salty sauce, almost like kettle corn; amazing. The outer leaves were caramelized without being burned, and the hearts were tender but not mushy. Crispy fried onions were perfect. Fried potatoes were fine, and enriched by their placement between the steak and the sprouts. The diners who came in before us were all smiles when they left, so it wasn't a fluke. Can't wait to come back!

It was pricey. But i feel like the food is worth it!! The…read moreNashville mozzarella sticks were bomb!! We straight went in. Almost didn't take a picture because it was so good. The burgers were perfectly cooked and the garlic rosemary fries were to die for. They have great ranch here and a spicy sauce, I can't remember what it's called. The only thing that made this place of four stars for me is that the drinks are very small for the price they are. Customer service was amazing. We came in an hour before closing were the last ones there and they treated us so well. I would definitely go back and try other foods!

She went and asked the cook to see if it was celiac friendly. I had street tacos, and my wife had fresh made chips and quac. The food was very good. We would recommend Side Hustle.

A couple weeks prior to that incident she did something equally dumbfounding..My best friend and I ordered two ciders and when we went back to our table to take a sip we shocked because what we just drank was clearly not a cider but what seemed like AN IPA? So we went back up the bar thinking she made an honest mistake..NOPE! She said "yeah the one you wanted ran out so I just gave you those"... WHAT???! Whyyyyy would two girls who ordered a low percent fruity cider want an 11% dry imperial IPA??!?? WHYYY again would you not give us a choice, and just serve us whatever? You don't know peoples allergies/tolerances (I mean seriously 6 vs. 11 percent is crazy). So over it.. telling all my friends to not come here anymore. Ps. They let people who smell like poopoo and peepee sit at the bar and offend everyone around them with their odor.

The Vault Bar and Grill - Brisket taco is amazing

They do not do bbq anymore due to lack of demand. Understandable. We were then given the choice of a burger or wings. Nothing else. Then some sides/appetizers options, which were hand written on an order slip. 2. We went at about 6pm our beers were super foamy. The bartender said that the co2 is weird with the first pours of the day. So a bit annoying. 3. We ordered mozzarella sticks and as an appetizer then the burgers. It took 35 mins for us to receive our burgers then the mozzarella sticks came out. The mozzarella sticks were cold inside. 4. The burgers were very basic bbq bacon ranch burgers. They cook personally came out and raved about how he came up with this recipe and was the best in the northwest. It was just bbq sauce mixed with some ranch. He also came out asking what we wanted on it and then proceeded to forget our tomato's.

"Welcome home" vibes, a clean space, and perfectly-priced BBQ make The Vault an instant classic…read more When I initially visited a year back for St Patrick's Day, it'd be very generous to call the experience "a mixed bag". Since then, and on a less busy day, The Vault has cleaned up beautifully. The barman was welcoming and quick on his feet. The sign out front read "BBQ is ready" and, sure enough, when I asked for the run-down, he talked me through the spread. In the end, a 1-meat 1-side plate won out. I requested the brisket (which was great, and generously portioned, though a bit dry to be the best in town) and the street corn (which was incredible, and definitely the best in town). It seems BBQ is becoming a competitive business in Salem! The Vault is keeping up with the best of them, but here's the real kicker: the plate came out to only $15. For meat of that caliber and quantity, not to mention the elotes, that's beyond a steal. If The Vault continues to offer this level of quality in service, food, and drink, any early-days missteps while finding their footing will be drowned out by the good times they roll out. I hope they can keep this momentum and continue to offer exceptional service complementary to great good and drink.
