    My wife surprised me with a "chef's table" dinner experience at Common Thread. And what an experience! Executive Chef Victor gave us a great overview of what we were about to experience... it was almost overwhelming. I think we had a tasting of nearly every item on the menu. I think we had five or six different appetizers, two different entrees, and two different deserts. Some particular standouts were the Tybee oysters, ceviche, soft shell crab, beef tartar, cannelloni, the grilled snapper collar and the grilled steak. Each serving was introduced by the chef. Victor was amazing, as was his entire kitchen team. It was fascinating to not only dine, but to observe the kitchen staff as they worked. The teamwork among the staff was most impressive. Impressive cuisine, and impressive staff. Our experience was five star!

    When a restaurant is ran by a farmers, one does not need to contemplate for too long how good it will be. After all, there are only so many ways to mess up a good tomato when slicing it or a fresh oyster that was caught that day. Founders Ryan and Joanne Williamson purchased a 5-acre farm outside of Bluffton, supplying food to Montage hotel. Years later, along with the chef, they started Common Thread and it's every bit as good as the result of such a story should be. Attentive, high quality cooking and excellent presentations. Oysters are spectacular. Carolina Gold Rice is much closer to a quality risotto than anything else. Tuna appetizer is a must. Salads are solid (although sadly the tomatoes are naturally not as rich and tasty as one would think, but that's a very minor complaint). The folks working here from the host stand to the waitress are attentive and kind. And what can beat dining in an 1897 Krouskoff House restored to a new century of beauty. Thus, Common Thread is everything that fine dining should be. Incredibly fresh, unpretentious, generously portioned, grown by dedicated people and presented in a historical relic revived.

    Visited the Common Thread for my husband's birthday and I have to say this place hit the mark on all aspects. The restaurant is in a restored 1897 house and really delivers on classic southern charm. We tried the ricotta punch & forethinker cocktails and both were expertly executed. We enjoyed our meal immensely - the yellowfin tuna, chicken entree, & apple crumble were all delicious but the true star of the show for me was the gnocchi! It may very well have been the best dish I have had that entire weekend in Savannah. We will definitely be back to try more dishes in the future! Definitely don't miss this place!

    We had a mystery dinner and I could not have chosen a better place. The place was beautiful, I believe it was a house converted into a restaurant. This place has two stories which has tables on both floors. The food was great! I decided on the Steak and the ceviche and it did not disappoint! The servers were so kind, would definitely recommend.

    A well executed farm-to-table restaurant. Firstly, let me just say the staff is so on point. The hostess were warm and welcoming, the runners were pleasant, and our server Elle executed service precisely. It's clear the staff here is trained with care. We never asked for anything or felt rushed. Everything happened in perfect cadence. We opted for the chefs tasting. I will say I wasn't blown away by everything but overall everything was absolutely fresh and certain things like the fall squash salad and the steak were incredible. The building was built in 1897 (as a gift to the owners wife they say!) but it is well intact. The entire restaurant has a deep aura of traditional southern hospitality. I'm very happy we chose to come here.

    I was in love with this place! Everything I tried at this spot was so delicious! I recommend that you try this place if you are in Savannah. The food here is unbelievable and the services is great! I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It felt like you were at someone's cozy home. The dishes are tiny, so you can order a lot of stuff and try many things on the menu. We started off with the two different oysters. They were so good! You have to get the dill oysters. I would say the best oysters in terms of flavor I ever had. The oysters are tiny, but what they put on top is big bold flavors. We also got the tuna tartare. It was really good too! The fish was fresh and the sauce that went with the dish was so flavorful and got rid of any fishy taste to the dish. We got the lasagna which was really good. It had a crunchy outer layer and it was a nice twist on a classic lasagna. We got it for our daughter really, but she wasn't a big fan. I would say kids might not like it because of the crunchy aspect of it. Everything was so good! I would go back!

    We had the best dinner experience of our whole trip here at Common Thread. Firstly, it is just such a gorgeous restaurant. They've renovated an old historic mansion, and it gives southern hospitality vibes right when you pull up. There is a large wraparound porch with what looked like outdoor seating, and inside, throughout all of the rooms, tables are scattered. There is also a bar in the back that looks like a very cozy hangout. The whole place gives a very nice semi-private feel. Our server was absolutely excellent. We went with the chef's tasting menu, and at $75 pp, I honestly think this is a great price. We had so much delicious food to share; I highly recommend doing that. It was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The oysters were absolutely divine with a curry/coconut/peanut flavor. I usually don't like much on my oysters, but this was so good, I could have eaten many more. Everything on the snack plate was also so delicious - the tuna tostada and shrimp hand roll were my favorite things of the night. Just so so yummy. The asparagus and peas salad was a yummy salad to go with. For the second course, the Carolina Gold rice dish was our favorite - rich and creamy, savory and delicious with crispy puffed rice - seriously, it's so good. the roasted fennel was good, but maybe not great. I did really enjoy the tahini sauce. The third course included a fish collar that unfortunately, we didn't enjoy as it was rather fishy, and the creamy corn that went with it was just ok. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly though, and had the most delicious sauces served with it. Lastly, blueberry cobbler for dessert, which was perfect. We left feeling very satisfied. Very nicely made cocktails. Overall, a very interesting menu and an experience I very much wish to repeat every time I'm in Savannah. Such charm and grace with each dish served.

    Surprisingly artistic culinary experience! From first course to dessert - everything exceeded our expectations. If you're an out of town visitor looking for a sophisticated menu aside from the typical river street seafood options, this is your go to dinner spot. We dined in August 2025 and the chef incorporated a lot of in season produce like peas, peaches, butterbeans and melon. I'd assume the menu changes often based on the chefs expertise. Overall great taste making and creative plating. P.S. I had to convince my family to get the coconut sorbet and they almost ate it all without letting me have a bite. 10/10 don't sleep on Common Thread

    I had discovered Common Thread Savannah through TikTok, and made a reservation about a week in advance. The only time slot available was 5 PM, so I definitely recommend booking early. The restaurant was a converted historical home, and it felt like we were dining in a living room. There were two floors of seating, and the decor was tasteful and surprisingly modern. We skipped drinks, and ordered a few starters to share - both varieties of the prepared Oysters and the Flounder Crudo. The Oysters were both delicious, and my favorite was the no. 2 with coconut milk and lemongrass. However, the Flounder Crudo completely blew us away. The fish was so fresh and I'd never tasted a crudo paired with mole before. The flavors went together perfectly, in a super unique way. For my entree, I chose the Ravioli and my friend got the Richard's Chicken. The Ravioli was fantastic! I loved the eggplant ricotta filling and the sauce was delicious. Portion sizes were generally small, so I could've easily eaten two servings of this dish. The Richard's Chicken was also excellent, and perfectly cooked. My friend said it was some of the best chicken she's had, and this portion size was a lot more generous. Pricing was on the higher end and service was lukewarm, but those were the only negatives. Would return to try more!

    This place is amazing. Beautiful old home. Fantastic service. Flavorful and fresh food! I had the oysters - two different ways. Omg so good. The beet juice was a huge surprise and I loved it. The fluke crudo is some of the best I have had. So fresh. The apple salad is very inventive. And the best, had the cobia in a curry sauce. Omg. I'm still dreaming about it. My friends also had the steak and the chicken. Everything was delish. I would order the cobia every day if I could! I would go back to Savannah just to eat here.

    Wow, such a unique dining experience! The food was so different from anything we've had, interesting combinations of flavors. Everything was easily shareable and that was part of the fun. The coconut dessert with magical fruit gummies (that should be sold to take home!) Beautiful space in a historic home. Service was great, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Went to extra effort to help me out with a vent cover that was freezing my feet! Only 4 stars because our 20 yo daughter was not a fan of the adventurous eating style of the restaurant.

    As I consider our evening at Common Thread what stands out for me was the exceptional service we received. We had reservations at the Chef's Counter and everyone, from the front desk to the serving staff to kitchen team made us feel as special guests. All the better since we were dining in what was once a residence (and an opulent one, at that!). We had the Chef's Tasting Menu and, wow, what a night. Each course was seemingly better than the last. Highlights were the oyster with beet and yuzu, a tuna crude bite, the sweet potato (which included a popcorn topping) and the melt-in-your-mouth medium rare NY strip steak. Caution - the courses may be small but add up quickly. Go easy on the bread (maybe a bite or two) and pace yourself for the wonderful main plates. The best of eating at the Chef's table was interacting with the kitchen team. By the end of our meal they were in "wind-down" mode and had time to talk with us. It was so interesting to discuss things such as daily work routines, menu preparation, favorite dishes and what the staff enjoyed doing during their off-time. What a meal! What a presentation! What a show! Thank you, Common Thread, for a wonderful evening.

Might be taking a break from this place for a while.

This place delivers! We had a 6:45 reservation, showed up right on time and were seated immediately. Benjamin introduced himself and helped us find some drinks that we loved, the Polaris and the Castor. After he went over the evening's specials, he helped guide us through our selections for the night. Having some un-inspired oysters earlier in the week, we decided to do two of each of the three oysters of the night. They were perfectly cold, deliciously briny and expertly shucked. We added just a drop of minuet juice but the oysters were so clean and crisp, we didn't want to cover up any of the fresh taste. The winter salad was simple but delicious. The lamb and chicken were both tender and perfectly seasoned. The Wagyu had an amazing crust that added texture to a simple slice of beef and the cornbread dressing with scallops was an original take on familiar flavors playing well off each other. We ended with a lovely olive oil lemon cake. You can feel the love in the ingredients, the presentation and the service at The Grey.

We started with a drink called Southern Hospitality and their branded Old Fashioned. Both drinks were exceptional. We accompanied that with Grilled Octopus, which was sensational. Very hard not to make it chewy. Great char and sauce that accompanied it. For entrees, we did the Perloo, an amazing interpretation, and a swordfish. Both dishes were immaculately prepared and perfectly sized. We chose a bottle of Loss and Lehn, something we had never tried before but recommended based on what we had ordered. It matched perfectly with both dishes. We also choose items from the pick 3 menu to accompany our entrees. We finished with the best bread Pudding we have ever had nd french press coffee. For entrees, we also decided to share them. The pork chop and NY strip were stand outs. We ended up sending back the halibut. It tasted mealy and freeze burnt. Skip the crispy Japanese eggplant. I was expecting a grilled dish and it was actually fried with a thick batter. Too heavy for my liking. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but not somewhere I am dying to go back to.

We were sat in what I believe used to be a front parlour, by a window over looking the street. We had a dual service with one person being the "main" server, his name was Michael. He was in charge of giving us the spiel and answering our questions. A woman (I forget her name, sorry! But she was lovely) was in charge of running the food and clearing the plates. It was a very well run machine. The menu is pre set, but there were choices on some of the courses, like course where an option was a soft shelled crab - I definitely wanted to take advantage of that! We started off with Biscuits with butter and homemade orange marmalade, these were delightful, so fluffy and soft, and the marmalade was sweet, not bitter like it sometimes can be. The Amuse bouche was a trio of tiny items: a pimento cheese tart, a mussel with chipotle sauce and panko, and a square of salmon with mild wasabi and ginger. The salmon was definitely my favorite. The fifth course had a special as I noted before, so I opted to go for that, it was a soft shell crab with garlic, herbs and a vidalia onion slaw. Topped with peanuts and a white wine sauce. I think my favorite course of them all was the scallops with the carrots and the whipped ricotta - so simple but so delicious! Phenomenal special occasion place or just to cross off your bucket list. If I am in Savannah again (and the likelihood is high, its such an amazing city), I will be back.
