We decided to come here for dinner and I am so glad we did. I got their halibut and the piece I got was overcooked and dry. I like my fish medium rare/medium. I told the waitress and she had it sent back. I got a different part of the fish and it was cooked perfectly. Literally melted in my mouth. My bf said it was a good call to have it sent back vs just accepting it. The waitress was super amazing and knowledgeable. My bf got the bison steak and that was really good as well. It was seasoned really well and all the sides paired well with it.

Best calamari I've ever had in my life

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to the green fried green tomato BLT was crazy. The elk chops were amazing. Service was amazing. Ambiance was great. Everything was really enjoyable in our experience. I'd come back again. This one of the best restaurants I've had in a while. The calamari was the best calamar I've ever had

I had a really unfortunate experience with Belford's on Juneteenth. I originally had plans to attend a festival, but due to the weather it got rained out; so I opted to make reservations at a black owned business instead to support. My wife and I showed up on time for our reservation and within a few minutes we were seated. After looking through the menu for about 10 minutes we noticed we hadn't had a waitress stop over, so we notified the hostess who stated they would get someone over. Another 15-20 minutes goes by and still NOTHING, at which point I am getting hungry and furious; but I opted to stay because trying to find a last minute spot in downtown Savannah on a Friday can be difficult with no wait. In the meantime we notice waitresses talking and looking at our table as if trying to decide who should take us, so finally a nervous young lady comes over and introduces herself. We explained our frustration, but advised we wouldn't take it out on her but we did want to also speak with a manager. We spoke with a manager who apologized and appeared to somewhat blame it on the waitress, but offered us free drinks to compensate us. I didn't necessarily think it was the waitresses fault and it didn't seem fair for her to solely blame her. I am not sure what the disconnect was, but we did stay and we enjoyed everything from the cocktails, appetizers and our steak. I will return because maybe it was a mishap, but with so many waitresses available and everyone being serviced around us; it did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

The Belford is absolutely worth recommending for their creative and unique entrées. I tried their BLT, and it was such a fun twist -- the fried green tomatoes were the "bread," and it worked beautifully. The flavors were fresh, the presentation was charming, and it felt like something you can't get just anywhere. It was delicious, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to explore more of their menu.

Always stop at Belford's while in Savannah. Albeit, it is overpriced and wish they offered more on the menu but the best crab cakes around. Service is fantastic, dog-friendly patio and the food is great. Kids loved the pastas dishes as well.

Fun antique classic Savannah vibes w/ current music and menu. BLT stack was my non seafood choice( bread replaced w/ extra fried green tomatoes and sugar bacon). Very filling but not easily cut w/ o spreading it all out! Seafood frittata was good and fried potatoes awesome, also very filling!! Friendly service. $45 + tip for quick lunch w/ water to drink... Menu seafood and meat!! Only one chicken entree.

Belford's completely exceeded our expectations. We went in thinking the food may just be like any other overpriced restaurant. It's definitely not a cheap restaurant however everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was amazing and recommend the prime ribeye and fried chicken. I was shocked at how good everything on each plate was. We even enjoyed the pre-dinner bread. We were celebrating a birthday and they helped make it special. We walked in with no reservation and they were still able to accommodate on a Monday night. We will definitely be back!

Many of the more recent reviews are positive, despite the mediocre overall rating, so maybe I just stopped in on an off day. But my experience here was terrible. Service was cordial. I was seated right away. Not too busy or crowded. But the food and drink was a total miss. I started with the BLT stack, fried green tomatoes, candied bacon, arugula, picked red onion, black pepper parmesan aioli, and balsamic. The flavors were great--the onion and arugula offered a refreshing bite, and the candied bacon was just the right amount of chewy. The tomatoes themselves were just okay. I'm biased though because I think Vic's River Grill has the best fried green tomatoes in the area. The filet mignon was a giant disappointment. I ordered it medium and it came out well done. Flavorless. Chewy. What an absolute waste of 68 dollars. The fried potatoes also flavorless, partially too crispy on some edges. I had a rosemary based cocktail which was syrupy and sweet. It went largely untouched. Other menu items include she crab soup, shrimp and grits, grilled salmon, beef short rib, and other seafood. Hopefully it was just an off day, but it was an expensive mistake to have made, that I won't make again.

Visited Belford when we were in Savannah. Great food, great service. Dining room was quiet and pleasant. Afterwards we walked the city market shops. Would definitely recommend. We had the Filets.

Delicious! We were in the mood for steak and another option we chose was booked so figured we would give this place a try -- and glad we did. My husband and I split the 18oz Wagyu Ribeye and it was sooo good! I usually need some sort of garlic butter or sauce just because I'm a sauce person but the flavor was so on point that it did not need a thing. The potatoes were probably some of the best I have had.. crunchy and flavorful! The table bread was good as well. Service great.. would go back again!

We stopped here on our food tour and tried the she crab soup, oysters, fried green tomatoes, bread, and fried calamari. The soup was definitely my favorite part, followed by the fried green tomatoes, then the bread, and then the calamari and the oysters. We were not fans of the balsamic glaze and all the other flavors going on. We most definitely would have just preferred an oyster with some pickle juice and cocktail sauce on the side. I can't speak to the entire menu of course but I wouldn't make it a priority to come back if we return to Savannah.

Incredible food and beverage! I stumbled upon Belford's looking for good dinner and a drink, jackpot! Elk chops and cocktails at the bar, Cheyenne was so fabulous, she's knowledgeable, competent, enthusiastic, professional- all the things! What a cool place, great history, I'll be back! So much more to try on this menu!

This restaurant is always busy so I would recommend making reservations on Resy. I've been here for drinks before but not for food. My best friend was in town and we wanted to try this place out. Our waitress Cheyenne was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave top tier customer service. Elk Chop - 10/10 my first time trying and it was very good. Nice and tender. Cooked to perfection Whole Red Snapper - 8/10 I thought it could have had either a better dipping sauce or be seasoned more. The soft and flakiness of it was perfect. Fried Green Tomatoes - 1000/10 I'm always going to get them if they're on the menu lol. Not overly breaded and just super tasty.

Strolling down Julian street (best street in the world because they named it after my son, obviously), my partner saw the wine tastings and immediately directed me that way, knowing I love wine lol. When we stepped inside, it was so much bigger than I expected. There were a bunch of daiquiri machines spinning, hundreds of wine bottles on display and happy people drinking. Heavenly. I made my way to the tasting counter and had the chance to do my tastings under the guidance of Noah. There were so many options to choose from, Noah was so helpful helping me find my choices and explaining the notes. He was one of the best parts of the experience, I was really impressed with his knowledge of the wine and his fantastic customer service. I decided to try the jalapeño wine, the Tybee island pearadise pine, velvet reserve, white Pinot noir, and the prohibition pomegranate. The pearadise pine and white pinot noir were both so light and lovely, perfect beach wines. The jalapeño wine was surprisingly fantastic. Noah said that many people were pleasantly surprised with it and I joined that number. It was sweet and smoky, not overwhelming at all. The prohibition pomegranate was my least favorite unfortunately. It was tooooo sweet but I'm one who prefers a dryer wine and Noah did give me a heads up that it was pretty sweet. I couldn't finish it. BUT. BUT. That Velvet Reserve? Babyyyy. My bff Noah said it was his favorite and a favorite of many, bold and high alcohol content. Let me tell you, he didn't lie one bit. It was so bold, rich in flavors, phew. I immediately asked him to grab a bottle for me. Such a great experience trying some local wines, so happy to head back to ATL with a new fave vino!

For the tapas, we began with the Uni Toast. The uni was fresh and delicious, and the caviar was excellent. My only criticism is that it's a single piece of toast, so at $16 it felt a bit pricey, even though the quality was outstanding. The tomato salad was another highlight. The tomatoes were fresh and flavorful, and the aioli brought everything together beautifully without overpowering the dish. Our favorite savory dish was the braised cabbage. It arrived as essentially half a cabbage--about the size of a brain--which made it a little awkward to eat. That said, the flavors more than made up for the presentation. The gochujang barbecue sauce was rich and slightly sweet with just the right amount of heat, and the roasted oyster mushrooms complemented the cabbage perfectly. Overall, Sombramesa delivered a fantastic meal with creative, high-quality food and excellent service. While a couple of dishes leaned toward the expensive side for their portion size, the quality of the ingredients and the execution made for a memorable experience. We'd happily return!
