Their steak prices have gone up a bit, but the quality matches the price. I started with the French onion soup, a must. It's a hearty portion it a nice size crock. For the entree I had the steak frites + truffle fries. The filet was one of the best I've had in a while. It was a nice, thick cut. Prepared perfectly with a nice sear on the outside. We visited Circa 1875 during our short time in Savannah. There were so many restaurant options and we decided for this one based on availability and good comments. I definitely do not regret our decision as we had a great meal. The interior ambiance of the restaurant truly transports to another place, it is truly beautiful. Our server was so gentle and gave us many recommendations on things to try and even accommodated some of requests. We started with the Espresso Martini and non-alcoholic French 75 (my first time) and these were both great. For appetizers, we had the crab croquettes (cakes), escargots and caesar salad. Everything was delicious (including the complimentary bread) , and to our surprise the Caesar salad had a nice crunch with the addition of fried frog leg pieces (if I'm not mistaken). The main entrees were the stars of the night, while we were originally inclined to try their Steak & Frites, our server recommended the steak tips sautéed over mushroom sauce with pasta and this was the perfect match instead of the classical French fries pairing. We also had the Supreme Roasted Chicken with caramelized veggies and everything was cooked to perfection. Had a fantastic dinner at the perfect downtown location. This French restaurant is nicely decorated such that you would think that you were in a Paris bistro. We had a fantastic server who recommended the Ribeye Steak special for the evening. I'm glad I took her up on that offer as the steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare and had a lovely wood fired char. The sides were excellent as it came with asparagus and potatoes. Tonight I walked in expecting a glorious evening booked my table and was ready to have a great meal. The staff was kind at the front desk, bar tender seemed attentive. We were walked behind the scenes to seek out our table. (every table wound us was dirty or needed to be reset) Came in at 8:20 left at 8:38. The server was uninterested in selling, serving or explaining the. Menu she was just ready to go, she tending to all of the empty tables resetting, clearing and doing side work. But did not ask if we wanted wine, which I did. Did not explain the menu, had to ask for specials, quick description, no real passion about any of the products. We felt rushed, and unimportant, called front desk to ask for salt and pepper since server was on her phone in the dining room and was not attentive. We opted to just order appetizers to get a feel since we felt rushed from the first moment tee sat down. Asked for water said tap was fine (because I was going fire a bottle of wine) we asked for the bills from the bar tender and nobody seemed to know our server. Manager saw us (she was expediting food in the window for the 3 other tables they had) and ignored us. Server asked if we wanted the bill when we walked past her to pay the bar mender since she never came back o the table. I don't leave bad reviews. Only when I have experienced something that feels "unwanted and out of their way to get me out of the restaurant" so a server wanted to leave because the business is not there, or they feel that they need to do side work at 8:20 instead of tenant to table is a completely unacceptable experience, The server checked the "no tip" box on our check- not us. She chose to give crappy service and get out for the night over championing the company she worked for. We would have spent well over 250$ if she had just cared. A bottle of cams alone is 135$ so she missed the mark and we will never be back to try this little HIGHLY Recommend by the Perry Hotel- staff. We told the Perry of our experience and we feel that they will listen to our experience as a warning to others to beware of Monday night at your establishment. Visiting from out of town, we were initially disappointed that we could not get a reservation at another restaurant we were looking at, so we chose this one and we are so happy we came here instead! This place is amazing! We did not get an appetizer but they do bring fresh bread and butter to your table. My husband and I both ended up getting the striped sea bass special of the day served with squash, zucchini, and fingerling potatoes.I forgot to take a picture of our food but we both cleaned our plates. Foie gras (my favorite dish). Ouch. Not seared - burnt. Bitter taste on crust. Have to say that, of all similar dishes I've had in dozens of establishments, this was by far the worst. Perhaps entrees... My wife's fish... dry, even looked bland. As for my bouillabaisse: a few bites is all it took to find overcooked shrimp and other shellfish. Under-seasoned as well. Beautiful dish, but disappointing. Desserts also demonstrated a penchant for too much heat; brûlée had overly dark top, and slice of pie did as well. Went here for dinner and Chris our server was exceptional. We had a couple of drinks and ordered the escargot app. The escargot was a bit bland and chewy which is unusual. Three of us had the sea bass special which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was quite delicious! My other friend had the steak frites which was also very good. The price point is a bit high here $45 for an entree but we had a pleasant evening. Do be aware that the kitchen is a bit slow at getting the food out (and they were not even busy) but floor service and ambiance is top notch. read more

We had a reservation for a group of 8. We had high hopes for the restaurant as we walked in, admiring the ambience and warmth. However, it took over 45 minutes for us to receive a glass of water. Then we ordered a few bottles of wine, but those were not available. The waitress recommended some similar bottles, which we got to sample. It ended up being over an hour into us being there without having the chance to order any food. When we asked the manager if we could order, she was rude and said she couldn't do that. We didn't even receive bread for the table. At that point, we decided we couldn't wait any longer. Our waitress was understanding and apologetic, and she ended up giving us the wine to go, free of charge. She did the best she could given the circumstances. We came in on a Thursday evening to celebrate our daughter's birthday. It was our first visit. It is a beautiful place and feels authentically French as if we were transported to a little place in Paris. We confirmed our reservation with the phone scrolling and expressionless hostess who strangely seated us between the only other two currently occupied tables. It is a small and charming dining room so it was odd to unnecessarily create that glut of bodies right in the center for staff to work around when other tables were available. Fine dining often is close quarters and we rolled with it. Our server was so tentative and mostly absent - possibly new or just poorly trained but we are always kind to a fault. We just wanted to have a drama free meal and we were patient and friendly despite her inattentiveness. Service and food were very, very slow but we again just tried to enjoy the time together and were not in a rush. There were 5 occupied tables at one point (about 15-20 people) -it was not busy. Drinks sat on the bar for more than 10 minutes before they were delivered to patrons and our servers would disappear for large chunks of time while the other server who had two tables ignored any other guests while drinks sat and food waited at the pass. Drinks and food came out staggered - one person would have their food or drink and others would not. So service was very poor. We ordered mussels and the appetizer special (frog legs) for apps and both were very good so we were excited for our entrees. Our entrees were Steak Frites, Bouillabaisse, and the duck breast special. Here is where the real problems with this birthday meal began. It was a very mediocre meal over all and sub par in places. The steak was chewy and arrived medium but was ordered medium rare, the frites were hot and delicious as was the demi glace for the steak. The bouillabaisse was not very good at all. The saffron broth was not flavorful and tasted more like tomato soup than a seafood broth that would be expected. Not much flavor at all - I did not sop up the broth as one typically does with this dish and actually just did not eat the broth. The fish in the dish was striped bass and were 4 tough, dry 1 inch cubes of fish with the blood line included. Bones were present in the only bite I attempted to eat. My family also tried it and encouraged me to send it back but we'd been there for probably close to 90 minutes at this point, it was a celebratory evening I didn't want to make awkward so I ate around the fish. The shellfish (2 clams, mussels, shrimp) in the dish were fine but a bit overcooked and chewy. Weirdly the dish included an abundance of tiny golden potatoes which I've never had in this dish, and I didn't eat them as they made the dish even more bland. I was so disappointed as this a favorite dish I love to get when I find it. The duck breast was just ok. The sauce again was great but the duck wasn't cooked correctly; the skin was flabby and chewy rather than crisped and rendered correctly (which is the reason to order a duck breast!) and it impacted the overall flavor of the meat. The sides of cauliflower purée and broccolini were well prepared and good. There is a saucier and side chef in that kitchen who knows what they are doing. The main preparations were so poorly executed though. The cocktails were unique and tasty but our glasses sat empty after the appetizer for at least a half hour. When the entrees were delivered finally we were able to snag our server long enough to order glasses of wine to accompany our entrees which arrived well after the meal began. Our water was never refilled and I drank my husband's when empty lol. We spent about $300 for the 3 of us which was as expected. I was so excited to bring our daughter to a French restaurant for her birthday - we love French food, cook it at home on holidays together, and geek out over all things Julia Childs. It was a big let down. I can't recommend this restaurant sadly and we won't return (we are locals). I will say that this is a romantic and cozy spot to maybe have a drink and a leisurely appetizer but not much beyond that currently. read more

I adored the restaurant's decor and atmosphere--amazing art and distinctively French. I also enjoyed the alternative settings guests can enjoy: the lower level, the pub, and the formal dining area. At first, I intended to use OpenTable to make a reservation, but I decided to call the restaurant directly when the app disclosed a mandatory reservation fee. I had no problems making a reservation over the phone, and no pre-payment was required. We were seated upon arrival, and the hostess was friendly. Throughout the night, we had appeasing service and kind staff. Our server was great! However, we waited for a very ridiculously long time for our main entree. The bread service was exceptional, paired with an herb butter. I ordered escargot, which came out in a timely manner-- and was prepared perfectly! The snails were not measly but nicely sized and had a bouncy texture enveloped in garlic butter. I believe the kitchen was having a rough night, as after conversing with other guests, I learned that their orders also had some problems. However, despite the long wait, my vegan ratatouille was the best meal I had in Savannah, GA, and was well worth it. My other attending guest ordered a fish entree and noted its exceptional preparation and flavor. I adore anything French, so this place is quite authentic in terms of culture. I came in for dinner for a girls night out. I ordered a Tito's extra dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. My martini was just okay. I didn't taste any olive juice in my martini. Circa 1875 is a no for me. We arrived about 15 minutes ahead of our reservation. We walked to the hostess stand where the hostess "greeted" us with a condescending, "And you are?" This is such a pet peeve of mine. You want to feel welcomed when you walk into a restaurant and we weren't. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, a salad and two entrees (steak and pork chop). There was a 60 minute wait between salad and entrees. Our waiter repeatedly told us our food would "be out shortly," but it was not. The food was fine hence two stars. We were seated downstairs and our server was Emily. She was AMAZING. So so nice and cordial, gave good recommendations for the menu, and made sure that she checked in multiple times throughout the evening, we ordered the Caesar salad, Poulet Roti, Truite de Ruisseau Pôelé, and Magret de Canard aux Cerises. We were celebrating my best friend's bachelorette and we got a free round of champagne and 2 free desserts. We got the Mille Feuille, and Vanilla & Lavender Crème Brûlée. Service was not at its best as salads arrived before pre dinner cocktails. Beet salad was fresh and delicious but overly salty. Beets were hard to find as they were in a small dice rather than left as larger chunks. My entree was the crab cakes which were clearly made at an earlier time as they looked perfect but were cold inside and barely warm outside. However, it had an unpleasant texture with some of the connective tissue and needed to be chopped finer. I ordered the special Chilean Sea Bass with Foie Gras compound butter. It was so salty, it could have been any kind of fish and it was slightly over-cooked for the entree. The best part of the experience was my boisterous server and the conversation with the adjacent patrons. At the price point of entrees starting at above $30, I had higher expectations. My meal did not feel French per se except for the deconstructed ratatouille, which was the best bite of the evening. Also, the hostess was a bit testy. She honored my reservation but wanted to seat me in the bar area. When I noted I wanted a nice dinner, she exclaimed, "It is the same menu."
