Great little spot for drinks and bites with table service. It is a newer establishment that had an art deco vibe. The sourdough dumplings were my favorite!

When I walked into this place I smiled big! Why? Because I LOVE the retro vibe here and can tell as soon as I walked in. We said it looked like a bank previously, there were height numbers by the front door and the place felt open. Then the very nice server Chandler confirmed that it was a bank previously in the 60's and it still had original tile! So cool! The seating was comfy and loved that they had lounge areas with sofa and chairs. Chandler mentioned that we had to check out the vault by the bathroom. So we did. We had drinks there and they were well made and tasted great. We were bummed about them being out of the cinnamon roll for the table, but we got the French Toast instead and we weren't disappointed. It was probably the best French Toast we ever had! Kudos to whoever made this! It was light and airy like a doughnut. Then stuffed with ricotta, topped with peaches & granola, but that maple butterscotch sauce that it was sitting in was DELICIOUS! My friend almost licked the plate! Chandler even offered it to her. Ha! I'm already looking forward to my next visit! It'll be one of the first stops in Savannah!
Nestled along bustling Broughton Street, this cozy, dimly lit hotel bar is a hidden gem. It instantly reminded us of our Austin indie bar-hopping days -- a whole vibe. The food is fantastic (don't miss the $9 hash brown caviar on Mondays and Tuesdays), the service is warm and attentive, and the cocktails are thoughtfully crafted. Trendy without feeling condescending is the best way to describe it. We've visited three times now while in Savannah. My husband travels here for work, and my daughter and I tag along. It's become our go-to stop for post-dinner drinks. On our last visit, we were happily surprised to find happy hour pricing on dirty martinis and old fashioneds. Food highlights: Flatbread: Buttery and flavorful, though a bit oily and parsley-heavy for my taste. I'd love it served more like a dip for dunking. Sourdough dumplings: Melted in my mouth. Persian cucumbers: The creamy, dreamy stracciatella was such a fun contrast. Octopus: The beans absolutely stole the show. My 7-year-old swears by her Shirley Temple and the mint chocolate gelato. Already looking forward to coming back for the burger and pot roast!
Municipal Bar in Savannah completely blew me away. I ordered the burger, and without exaggeration, it was the best burger I've ever had in my life--perfectly cooked, insanely flavorful, and worth every bite. I'm still thinking about it. Oh and I can't forget the harsh brown with caviar - so good! On top of the amazing food, our bartender Sam was absolutely incredible. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience even better. Great atmosphere, top-tier food, and outstanding service. This place is a must if you're in Savannah, and I'll definitely be back.
You can't beat happy hour at the bar from 3-5PM where they have delicious cocktail specials and you can grab oysters or a basket of French fries to go with your drink! The bar is gorgeous and bartenders were quick to greet us on a busy Saturday and made our drinks with passion. Ambiance is a vibeeeeee- the restaurant is trendy with funky, curvy, green booths, pink puffy chairs and a gorgeous bar! Definitely have to make a reservation on the weekend if you're going to dine in the dining room but the bar you could grab a spot if someone left! Happy hour we tried their daiquiri and old fashioned off the happy hour menu. Both were tasty! I loved how fresh the daiquiri tasted! We snagged some French fries too **they lost a star for me due to the room service we received - I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches, two lattes, and a cinnamon roll. The breakfast sandwich was actually BURNT. I really couldn't believe someone would consciously serve that to someone. The cinnamon roll was blah- not my favorite. It had more of a biscuit texture than a yeast base. Not a fan. And the lattes were boring and sad imo.**
We walked into Municipal Bar right at happy hour after a long road trip from beautiful Jacksonville, Florida. We made key stops along the way at Buc-ee's, Piggly Wiggly, and Food Lion to stock up on supplies for the journey. We entered into a space that has been expertly converted from a municipal building into a cute trendy cocktail lounge. They kept certain key elements from the municipal building and blended it with modernistic lounge design. I was obsessed. Whoever designed this place deserves some kind of award. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple dirty martinis ($10 at happy hour), fries ($5), oysters ($16) and garden lettuce ($12). My girlfriend soft launched me on her IG story with a picture of my hand and $14 Casio watch holding a martini glass. WE DID IT!!!! The oysters and fries were fantastic, but the garden lettuce was a brick. We just didn't enjoy the dressing at all, but that's more on me for ordering that. I knew better. The martinis were hitting different. I felt like a New York businessman in the 80s, slamming martinis after a long day of yelling at people on the phone slanging penny stocks. Delicious food, great service, amazing ambiance. My mom and I went down to Savannah for the day and enjoyed having lunch here. Converted into a hotel and eatery from an old bank. Be sure to visit the bank vault in the basement.
We went here for some drinks on a Monday night before the Saint Patrick's Day parade and it wasn't very crowded so we could grab a seat wherever. The place reminds me of a hotel lobby bar. The waiter was really helpful with giving advice on drinks and everyone seemed to enjoy what they got.
Food is expertly prepared here. Mussel broth needs bread for dipping so you don't waste a drop. Mortadella sandwich with pistachio-watercress was divine. Fries are thin and crispy. Beautiful interior, once a bank. Loved everything we ordered. Only drawback on cold days is that there's a chilly draft whenever someone comes through the front door.
This bar is set within the old Municipal Bank building in Savannah and recently received an architectural award. The hotel and bar is owned by Death and Company so has many cocktail themes mixed with Southern charm. This is an excellent place to go for brunch especially if you like Bloody Marys-they make a great Bloody Mary! The staff was friendly and helpful to explain the menu and facility. The food was very good and filling. Finish the brunch off with an Affogato-they make an excellent one! We plan on staying at the hotel as well on a future visit.
Fabulous! So Glad we found this Savannah gem. Photos are from our brunch but we went back in the late afternoon for cocktails. Both experiences were perfection! The fresh fruit was amazing and very shareable. I had the smoked salmon tartine, pictured in the photo which they kindly served me at ten even though the menu says they don't start serving it until eleven. My husband had the house omelet, which was divine. Later in the day, we came back to meet a friend to have a drink and the house Old Fashioned was excellent (the one with the coconut and macadamia). Service, Food, Total Experience - exceptional! And our server at brunch, Hanni, was wonderful, truly. We're here as tourists but we can't wait to return!
This place is stunning. The attention to detail should not be overlooked. From the ingredients in each drink to the decor and even the staff, everything is one point. The staff here is amazing, very kind and there are tons of people who know how to provide spectacular service. Even though this place is beautiful and newly opened, I will say that the concept is an interesting one in the Savannah area. The lobby for the Municipal Hotel IS the bar and restaurant, not in a separate section of the building or its own space. They do take reservations for tables and the bar (interesting), and I recommend you do make one. We just wanted drinks and desert, but were very confused with the instructions we received from the hostess. We went to sit where we thought we could sit, and she told us those were reserved seats, then we went to the bar and were told again that those were reserved seats. I had to ask for clarification on where we actually COULD sit in the main area, and we were told we could stand off to the side of the walk up car area or in one of the two sets of lounge chairs by the from window, the mezzanine, or downstairs. We went to the mezzanine and it was a cool spot. (The person who explained the seating best to us comped our drinks, so that was very kind) After sitting on the mezzanine level, a table opened and we went down. The seating we were at is NOT the best for eating, very low seats and high tables, but great for drinks! I would recommend getting a booth or the bar to eat comfortably. Being moved that many times dampened the mood. Again, the bar is in the lobby of the hotel. The check-in desk is in the spa w space of all the hubbub. I imagine that might get clunky if people are checking in late, but it seems there's another door to walk through if you're just going to the hotel. Beautiful addition, looking forward to see how they iron out the kinks as they become more established.
This place is truly a gem. We came back two? No, three times. We weren't staying at the hotel but it was around the corner from ours. The first night we had the happy hour- drinks were stellar and the food was delicious. My partner and I split a veggie burger and fries. Cocktails were well balanced and the bartenders were informative on the flavor profile. The next time we wear at a booth- service was great (little slow at times but it gets pretty busy!) and the food was consistently flavorful. The third time we went to brunch to try their breakfast. Service was slow that morning but the food was still good. The hasbrowns are a must! The space itself is beautiful- its retro finishes and open area is very welcoming. The bathroom downstairs is clean and looks like a spa. Genuinely such an overall neat place you must stop by. read more
I visited Savannah and found myself coming here 3x! Over 3 days so that should say something about this spot. Municipal Bar is the restaurant in the lobby of the Municipal Grand. The decor is great and inviting. A big fan of the art and furniture. I came for their late happy hour, regular happy hour and for breakfast. Staff is helpful, kind, and skilled within their craft. Their cocktails are top notch. Fresh, well balanced, and delicious. I had their salad, beyond burger with fries for food. Everything was good. Especially enjoyed the fries and their thin and crispy nature. For dessert - I went with the affogato and it was perfectly balanced with the espresso and ice cream. For breakfast, I had their egg scramble with buttered toast and an amazing hash brown. A cheesy buttery has brown masterpiece. Also ordered the cinnamon roll. Wow! So delicious. Definitely a great and memorable spot in Savannah. Great food, drinks, and vibes. Would come back in a heartbeat! read more

Absolutely incredible experience at Municipal Bar! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish--perfect for a relaxed night out or something a little more special. The food was outstanding--every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the execution. The drinks were just as impressive, creative and perfectly balanced. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome without ever being overbearing. This place nails the full experience--great food, great atmosphere, and top-tier service. We'll absolutely be back and highly recommend it to anyone in the area or visiting from out of town. read more

Decided tonight was night to try this newest venue in Savannah and I am glad that I did. The basement speakeasy is still being built but will be a welcome location to try once open. The bar/restaurant and hotel lobby are beautiful and well attired. They have 44 boutique rooms here so they are likely very nicely apportioned. The bar and the dinner I got were excellent and I couldn't be happier with the food I recieved. The service at the bar is great. James Nowicki the bar manager is phenomenal and his staff it top notch. Marin is a true joy and a great bartender as well. If you have the chance this is a spot to come and enjoy. read more

After a long drive crossing the Florida-Georgia line we made our way on the very first stop to the Municipal bar. This place was recommended by a friend who's a local and native in Savannah. They recommended the burger as being one of the best in the city so we took the advice and ordered one per person. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The burger was as so tasty and fresh and was well paired with the crispy fries. We also got a polenta-like hashbrown that came with caviar on top - OMG! - I am still thinking about that appetizer. All was paired with a few drinks on the menu but my favorite was the Mezcal Margarita that the barkeep made for us. We sat at the bar to catch-up and we loved the elegance of the bar. We were informed that there was also a new speakeasy like bar that recently opened downstairs so we went and have a separate review of it, so stay tuned. Highly recommend this place for food, service, ambiance, and the drinks! read more

I have heard some really great things about the Muncipal bar and hotel. So I was super excited to celebrate here recently for my birthday brunch and it very much met my expectations. The drinks were really good. I enjoyed the espresso martini and a lemon drop. The food was good, but I feel like it could've used more seasoning and flavor. The menu is very limited so definitely make sure you understand that before you go. The decor is very much giving an 80s 90s, super chill super laid-back vibe. I felt like I was in the movie Casino, with the esthetics. Our waiter was extremely friendly. He knew that it was my birthday and he made sure to go above and beyond, and even mentioned that his birthday was the day before. I would definitely come back for a cute date night and check out the hotel area for the photo opps. read more

When you walk in into this place, it is a bit confusing because apparently it is also the front desk of a hotel? However, the inside is very nice. It did take them a minute to see us and come greet us however it was right when they opened so I'm sure they were just getting everything ready. Nothing fake with that. The food in the order came out very nice and quick. Everything was nice and hot. The food could use a little bit more flavoring in my opinion and the toast that came out with the salmon caper was extremely thick and hard. I had to ask if they had a thinner toast because I could not even break through it. The atmosphere is nice though, and the gentleman that took care of us was amazing. And one more thing to keep in mind since it is the front check-in area of the hotel we weren't too bothered by it, but they do have animals coming in and out at the restaurant. read more
In Savannah for our anniversary. Found out about Municipal Bar and liked the concept and the menu. The vibe on a Friday night was great - busy and a little loud but not overcrowded or overwhelming. There were creative and tasty takes on some classic cocktails, and the food was excellent. I could have eaten about 40 of the hash browns with caviar. The gnocchi was top notch. And if you don't order the whole branzino you will be riddled with "I should have listened to Matt" forever. Order the branzino, it is exceptional. Best of all, the service was wonderful. Attentive but not all up in our business, friendly but not sappy. It was just right. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. read more

Absolutely delicious! Stopped by with my 9 year old for a quick bite while out shopping. We had the shrimp and fries and will be coming back in two days for the mussels and the chicken sandwich!!! Best shrimp and best French fries we have ever had. read more

Municipal Bar was a whole vibe. The ambiance was warm, stylish, and relaxed without feeling stuffy. Perfect for brunch with a cocktail in hand or a laid-back date. It felt intentional, not noisy, not rushed, just really well done. I ordered the Fancy Omelette with chives, crème fraîche, gouda, and parmesan. It was rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Comfort food with a polished touch. I paired it with the Delicious Royale cocktail. The peach aperitif, calvados, lemon, and sparkling wine came together beautifully. Light, refreshing, and balanced, not overly sweet. Shoutout to our waiter who was attentive, friendly, and knew the menu well. Service was smooth and genuinely welcoming, which always elevates the experience. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Municipal Bar is definitely a Savannah staple. Very cool ambiance and vibes. Located in a hotel but you can hardly tell. Lots of drink options and good food options- between shareables and a full meal. For food we got the flat bread (pictured), lamb sausages, croquettes, and fries and filled us up decently (between 2 people). The Southside Rickey cocktail was light and refreshing and made very well. Service was as to be expected on a busy Friday night at prime time so no complaints, happy to be patient, everyone seemed very friendly! read more

First off the place is gorgeous! And our waitress Maiya was so courteous and sweet. We started out with the brunch menu. Not too many choices regarding a regular breakfast, but I was very pleased with the crispy bacon. We also had a veggie burger, and it basically was the highlight of our brunch. read more
