So, this was recommendation from a TikToker. First what was good: it is a classy Restaraunt, there was a live band jaunt outside the hotel in the lobby, it's in a good location and the food is okay. What's bad: There is a valet parking sign in from of the hotel, but it doesn't apply to the restaurant. The door to the restaurant could be more visible. The service was acceptable, but not fine dining. The food is meant to impress, but it falls short. I had lamb chops and I was expecting flavor, like in Dearborn, Michigan, but it was lackluster. The steak, a Wet aged Ribeye was huge, but that's all, it just okay. The meal for two, was $180.00 which was not horrible, but it didn't feel like the food or service was working it. The location is nice, but the view is just of a busy city street, so it was just okay. Go and see for yourself, maybe my expectations were too high. I stayed at Marshall House (reviewed separately), and 45 Bistro is the attached restaurant; so it was natural to skip on over and grab a seat at the bar. The hostess was super welcoming and kind. The bartender was a little reserved and cool at first, but he loosened up a little as the night went on. He made great drinks and kept on top of things, and that's what matters most. The bar was actually pretty comfortable. Seat was broad enough you didn't feel smashed, my short legs were able to rest comfortably with the foot rest. The drinks here are great. I had the Pearadise (burnt church pear vodka, orgeat, lime, pineapple, bitters) and it was sooooo refreshing! Loved this! I also had Rose in the Valley, which is a high level aviation essentially, made with St. George Valley gin, Luxardo maraschino, rose liqueur, and lemon. Not as good as the Pearadise, but still a tasty, light, easy to drink concoction. And I finished up with the 45 old fashion, which was as expected. They have an extensive cocktail menu full of classics and innovations, and I'll be back to try more. I also had the filet mignon, prepared expertly and bursting with flavor. The frites were hot and crispy. The arugula was a nice addition. I also had the Brussels sprouts, which were charred perfectly and made with bacon. I'm not a bread person, but their bread was amazing! Only because of their delicious house made pesto sauce, but still. Loved it and at the whole piece (really, I rarely ever touch the bread). Other dishes they offer include a wet aged ribeye, black Angus filet, duck two ways, Atlantic salmon, grouper, and brick oven roasted chicken. Will definitely be back. read more

We enjoyed a yummy, impromptu dinner, and their beautiful Christmas decorations and live music by a Harpest set a festive atmosphere! My perfectly cooked filet tenderloin was delicious and set atop crisp Gorgonzola fries. Definitely a reorder. Hubs ordered crab cakes and was a bit disappointed with the amount of breading used for binding. I tasted them and agree. My son sent back her New York strip it was too rare for his medium request. Food, service and ambience were all excellent. Even the presentation of the food was top notch but not at all pretentious. I loved the way they slightly charred their Caesar salad. Great wine list. My wife had the crab cake appetizer and salad. Both very fresh and the crab cake was meaty. I had the roast chicken with a wild mushroom risotto that was simply phenomenal. I had a bread pudding for dessert which was served in a deconstructed manner . . . Unique, interesting and very delicious. The server was very friendly and perfectly attentive, not too much and not too little. This place is a gem, a must if you appreciate fine but unpretentious dining. I really wanted to give this a better rating -- 45 Bistro is an excellent restaurant once you get in the door. We had an 8:00 PM reservation to celebrate a milestone birthday for my husband. We met some friends at the bar for a pre-dinner drink and I checked in with the host about 20 minutes beforehand. Unfortunately, our friends waited nearly 20 minutes just to get a drink at the bar, which didn't feel very welcoming. Then came the real issue -- we weren't seated until 9:00 PM. You might ask, why wait an hour? Because it was a special occasion, and the restaurant came highly recommended. Once seated, our server was wonderful, and the food was excellent -- truly no complaints there. That said, a few of the dishes and glassware were not completely clean -- like they had skipped a run through the dishwasher -- which was surprising for a place of this caliber. And before we even finished our entrées, we were asked to order dessert because the kitchen wanted to close. That felt rushed and disappointing after waiting so long to be seated. What really stung, though, was that no one ever apologized -- not at the bar, not at the host stand, not even when we left. Sitting in a nearly empty dining room after all that waiting was not the evening we had planned. I'm sure not everyone has this experience, but the lack of attention to detail and the complete lack of acknowledgment for the inconvenience made what could have been a fantastic evening feel disheartening. read more

We started at the bar and were served extremely well-crafted cocktails by Kyla, who was very knowledgeable and personable. She knows her way around a good Old-Fashioned and margarita! After our cocktails, we went to one of the dining rooms, adjoining the bar. We started with the shrimp & grits, which was a great way to kick off the meal: creamy and delicious, with fresh Georgia shrimp and vidalia onion rings. Our entrees were both specials: KC strip steak, cooked perfectly medium rare, and a crusted salmon over risotto. Both were amazing! We had to pass on dessert, though, but only because we were too full. Everything from the white table cloths, cozy dining room, beautiful bar (see photos) to the staff (bartender Kyla and waiter George) were outstanding. Strolled down the street from our hotel and landed on this restaurant. It is such a lovely family owned place where the manager is standing to greet you and offer assistance. A LOVELY EXPERIENCE UNTIL IT WASN'T. The room is beautiful and cozy, and you feel privileged to be there. Our waitress was sympathetic and energetic, and we bonded with her immediately. We got numerous mini wine tastings, both red and white, even though we were only going for wine by the glass. This was excellent service. We started by sharing a salad, which was delicious. My husband's Tuscan red and my Burgundy white both hit the spot. Jack loved his cioppino. Unfortunately, my fish dish, fresh grouper did not meet the same standards. Extremely bland, tough and dry, I've had way better from pop up trucks. This put the kibosh in the evening. I could've asked for a replacement, but at that stage of the evening, I did not have the will or the energy. The dessert, an apple pie with some vanilla ice cream, was lovely. Thinking of a coffee to finish, I decided against it. Overall, therefore, there were many high points to the evening. So,,, since moving here 5 years ago this has always been a favorite spot. But, last night was disappointing. The Savannah Philharmonic has their concert last. As a subscription holder,45 Bistro has been the "go to" place for patrons and musicians to grab a cocktail or two and some lite bites after the performance. Concert ends at 9:30 and over we headed only to be told the kitchen was closed. This is a new policy that started last month. Due to an illness and the last performance being held at Johnny Mercer due to some challenges as Lucas this was the first time back in the New Year. Not only do the patrons enjoy a lite bite but the musicians are the ones they should be taking g care of. Now if they want to keep this new schedule that's their prerogative but I don't see why keeping the kitchen open on the one Saturday every 4 weeks or so open for those of us that have been "regulars". Additionally when I tried to have a conversation about maybe the owner could consider the evening of the performance for the kitchen to stay open he cut me off and said "I already told everyone." He didn't even wait to hear what I had to say. Looks like we'll be looking for a new spot next time. read more

We had to eventually ask the hostess if we'd been totally forgotten about. Our reservation was at 8:45, so maybe try to make an earlier reservation.... We were the last party out the restaurant. The tuna tostada appetizer was delicious! Would pass on the shrimp & grit appetizer.. the chili on top was an odd pairing. The salmon dish & beet salad was great, the lamb dish was devoured, as was the filet mignon, but my espresso steak was over cooked.. and after waiting as long as we did, I didn't bother sending it back. 1 person in my party wants to go back, but the rest of us would probably pass. read more

We were escorted in the waiting area by the bar and at 8:16 someone checked on us for drinks, but we still have not been seated. The hostess finally got us at 8:20. Bella was our server and she was way more cheerful when she greeted us. She did a great job of explaining specials. I ordered the wet aged ribeye. The vegetables were well cooked and the ribeye was cooked how I requested, but it lacked flavor and salt. My wife ordered the black grouper. Fish was done really well. We also ordered beef carpaccio and tuna carpaccio. I am surprised that no bread or crackers come with either, but we were provided some very hard crostini upon request. I was very happy with the drinks. I had the Sazerac which was very well done. I am glad that I tried another place in Savannah, but I probably wouldn't go again. read more

Truly an amazing spot to eat. Lived in Savannah for about three years, so I tried many of the higher end restaurants in downtown and around the area, by far 45 Bistro was my favorite. Located within the Marshall House, the atmosphere is quaint and not too loud, a charming place to visit. Service was always great and friendly as well. The food itself is truly amazing. Some of the best salmon I've ever had was at 45 Bistro. Great appetizers as well. Most importantly, the pricing at this restaurant is unmatched, especially regarding the seafood, the pricing is shockingly cheap for how great it is. For a formal restaurant that is trying very hard to be classy, it's kind of insulting to wear a blazer into a place with an overwhelming smell of uncooked fish throughout the entire dining room. I don't mean the smell of nice seafood, like a dumpster with raw fish. Which makes sense when you look at their shocking sanitation scores over the last three years. The violation for food contact surfaces being clean checks out. Maybe spend less time trying to make your dining room feel classy and spend a few dollars on ventilation for the kitchen. It's taking over the restaurant. There are too many restaurants in this price range in Savannah that are clean and nice to consider going back any time soon. read more
