I believe it's so very rare to find restaurants like this one. Me and my husband celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary in July at this establishment. The staff here treated us like family from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. When we arrived we were treated by kind face seated and handed a hand written note congratulating us on our anniversary. When our waiter came he took his time explaining beverages with us and specials. And then continued to answer our questions with care. You would've thought he was just our tables waiter by the way he paid attention to detail and cared about every little detail. The ambiance is the old bus station and they lean into the historic aspects of their building which I highly enjoyed. Some highlights of our meal were the jalapeno corn bread. Which may I be honest and say was the best corn bread I've ever tasted in my life? Along with the coconut curry dish I received. You can tell the dish was truly thought out and had a purpose with every bite. I loved that at the end they brought us lavender pallet cleansers. I loved these so much I started utalizing them at home. My absolute favorite of the whole evening was surprisingly our free dessert. It was almost a marshmallow flavor but crunchy. I think about them till this day! I am happy to say we will continue to spend our time together at the grey. We really wanted to love this place but unfortunately we couldn't. I want to believe it's the menu we had at the time we visited, when we looked online while we made our reservation it didn't match the menu we had once we got the restaurant. Looking around at the tables around us nothing really caught our eye after reading the menu, we didn't want to leave since we were able to get reservations so we got some starters and shareables. There was a couple next to us who was having the same dilemma after over hearing their conversation. The kale salad was okay but a little bitter for my liking and the potato soup had a thick layer of oil on the top which looked intentional but wasn't our cup of tea. The cornbread and mashed potatoes were good but nothing crazy in our opinion to write home about. Service was okay on our end, once our waiter realized we weren't getting any main entrees it felt like he ghosted us with no water until our food came out and then never came back to check in on us until he brought the check. We are going to try to come again next time we are in town in hopes we have a better experience and different menu! read more

We started with a dozen oysters from Massachusetts, served with a small dropper bottle of vinegar-citrus infusion. A few drops over each oyster completely transformed them.. bright, briny, and incredibly clean. They were absolutely exceptional. I would come back just for those alone. We then had the whole grilled snapper at The Grey, generously stuffed with herbs (mostly Italian parsley). It was beautifully cooked, perfectly seasoned, and carried that quiet confidence of a kitchen that knows exactly what it's doing. For a side, we chose the smashed potatoes, which were a standout in their own right, crispy edges with a soft, fluffy interior. Comforting, well-executed, and easy to keep reaching for. The space itself adds a lot to the experience: a thoughtfully repurposed former Greyhound bus station that feels stylish and warm without trying too hard. I gotta say, I was ready for the over-hype! We re-watched the Chef's Table episode before heading to Savannah and I read reviews and scoped-out menus from the last few years to get a sense of what I wanted to try when we got there. This place delivers! We had a 6:45 reservation, showed up right on time and were seated immediately. Benjamin introduced himself and helped us find some drinks that we loved, the Polaris and the Castor. After he went over the evening's specials, he helped guide us through our selections for the night. Having some un-inspired oysters earlier in the week, we decided to do two of each of the three oysters of the night. They were perfectly cold, deliciously briny and expertly shucked. We added just a drop of minuet juice but the oysters were so clean and crisp, we didn't want to cover up any of the fresh taste. The winter salad was simple but delicious. The lamb and chicken were both tender and perfectly seasoned. The Wagyu had an amazing crust that added texture to a simple slice of beef and the cornbread dressing with scallops was an original take on familiar flavors playing well off each other. Came here on a weeknight celebrating a birthday. They very kindly give you a card in recognition of your birthday and everyone who services the table addresses it. They also provide a candle and free dessert in celebration. The ambiance is nice. It's an old depot station of some sort. They have maintained lots of the architecture. People were dressed decent. Not too dressy but not too casual. Dim lighting. Candle light. The menu includes seafood, beef and chicken. We tried the crudo and wagyu to start and the crudo was not to my liking. The fish is overshadowed by the apples and swimming in oil. The wagyu I'm told was good. The star of the show for me was the Polaris drink and the cornbread dressing. It sits in a pool of pot liquor from the greens. The greens were perfect. The scallop were perfect. It was my favorite thing. I also had the chicken as my entree and it is flavorful and hearty and the seasoning is very prominent. The butterscotch dessert was excellent as well. The biggest issue was the pace of the meal. Service was slow. The drinks too a long time and the time between plates was long. Basis the number of people who recommend this place, I expected more. We ordered a lot: oysters, smoked olives, crab fritters, crudo, grilled red snapper, diner lettuce salad, mac and cheese, and lamb shoulder. The smoked olives and oysters were the standouts. The crab fritters were fine but nothing special. The red snapper crudo (made in tomato water) just didn't work for us. The grilled red snapper was so smoky it overpowered the fish entirely, and the lamb shoulder's "tomato curry" was really just a tomato reduction, not much curry to it. We celebrated a friend's birthday with the $85 dinner set. From other reviews and research, we were told that this restaurant is a hit or miss. The food is good, but not good enough for the price point, especially since we left still a little hungry. We were disappointed that there was nothing special for the birthday, as many upscale restaurants do, especially since it was included in the reservation. My group of 3 tried to order a variety so we could try various menu items. The menu does rotate/change often, but my favorite main course was the chicken option. I have been wanting to try The Grey for years and finally made it this year for my birthday. I went with friends and the experience far exceeded my expectations. We had a reservation for 5, which happens to be the time they open. We were greeted by a very warm hostess and escorted to our table. Given they'd just opened, there were not initially many other customers but that soon changed. Other parties began coming and they were soon pretty full. . When I made the reservation the platform asked if there was anything being celebrated and I noted my birthday. Once we were seated, I was brought a hand written birthday card from the staff. So very thoughtful! Our waitress, Suze, was awesome She explained the menu structure and we placed our order. I ordered the spring salad as a starter and it is literally the best salad I've had...ever. It is a large portion and looks like a very nicely made salad. You can't see it, but there is a dressing on it that is so light but so very tasty!! The bottom of the salad has a light delicate cream based sauce so when you toss it, all the flavors blend and it was amazing. For my entree I ordered a curry fish dish. It was plated over a bed of rice and fresh veggies. The fish was pan seared to perfection and the rice and veggies complemented it well. The curry sauce was on the bottom of the plate and was light, tasty, and not overpowering. It was just right. Amazing. Once we finished our food, we were brought what's called "Thrills". They are pallet cleaning ice pops made of cucumber and lime juice and a hint of sweetness. As we're eating the thrills, a lady stops by our table to ask how was our dinner. She then chuckled when she realized we'd finished our dinner and was enjoying the thrills. We let her know everything was amazing and she thanked us for coming and walked away. Within seconds of her walking away, I realized it was Chef Mashama Bailey! THE James Beard award winning Chef Mashama Bailey!! We confirmed with our waitress just to make sure and she confirmed. We asked if she does pictures and Suze said absolutely. Chef Bailey came back to our table, started sharing with us how she develops the menu and her vision on how she plans to continue evolving it going forward. She was so kind and generous with her time. We thanked her sooo much and she graciously took a picture with us. She also told me happy birthday when she heard it was my birthday. She then encouraged us to walk around the restaurant, giving its historical background. In walking around, we were in awe of how the old greyhound station has been transformed! There are elements of the station still there but the overall space is very elevated and very thoughtfully done. Overall, I highly recommend going because the food is amazing but so are the people who work there and it's clear Chef Mashama Bailey has set an amazing tone so that every guest feels at home. read more

We came here for an upscale anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The service was perfect and they were very thoughtful and wrote a happy anniversary note. The staff were helpful and answered many of our questions. They also had many vegetarian options to pick from. It's a coursed $85 meal and I felt given the amount of food we got, it was very reasonable. The Savannah Red Rice was so good. It was definitely a great take on local food and was very flavorful and filling. I loved all the different vegetables in it - they were perfectly cooked and enhanced the sauce base. For the main, they had an okra and beans dish with bread. It also came with some salad and the salad was really fresh and had a very crispy dressing. The Grey, ran by Chef Mashama Bailey and John Morisano, has received many accolades. From being featured on Chef's Table to the James Beard awards, it is unlikely than this or any other Yelp review can add something that has not been said before. But, there is a certain value to affirmation and validation. Thus, if anything, that's what this review is about. First of all, the gorgeously restored space of the previously segregated Greyhound bus terminal is worth a visit in itself, even if for a drink. It's just beautiful. It's also a trip through time. It's a push into how modern art merges with history. The dishes here are remarkable not in being overly creative, but for their simplicity and purity that respects the farmers who grow the food. The tomatoes are genuinely otherworldly, perhaps some of the best that can be had in America. Not that it means much, as our tasteless grocery store tomatoes set a pretty low bar, but nonetheless. The poached swordfish was a remarkable preparation that turned this rougher fish into something delicate and mild. The oysters are fresh and perfectly accompanied by herbs. The chef's take on Foie Gras is no less remarkable, not overly fatty and perfect balance with salt. The one minor thing that could be improved is a bit more transitional courses to the tasting menu. An amuse bouche. A small transient snack. A palette cleanser. A bit of chocolate to take away. With all that said, one cannot complain about an $85 tasting menu based on highest quality locally sourced ingredients. The team working here is wonderful and kind. This place is a one-of-a-kind experience. You are recommended to reserve seating prior to attending, otherwise you will be sat at the bar or in the front section of the restaurant. My partner and I came here for brunch. The drink menu was limited to alcohol, alcoholic drinks or nonalcoholic drinks, I don't think there was any coffee available at the time. The food selection or the menu is very small, but it is also very tighten knit in that everything seems very seasonal and chef curated. I did enjoy the live music that they had, my partner was very ecstatic about live music during brunch. The menu is more of an American style, I don't remember if there was any other culture fusion into it, but it was really good. This review is for a weekend dinner and coming from a non-native Savannah person. I had a reservation for 2 people. Overall, the food was good (not the best meal I've had), but really what made the experience was the service and the rich history of the restaurant. With all those components I would definitely recommend dining here, especially if from out of town. Ambiance / Service: restaurant is casual, but lively and has a lot of character. There's a separate front bar area that I think is first come first serve. Ask the server for more info on the art (ceiling & wall) - they will give you pamphlets that give a lovely backstory. I also recommend watching The Chef's table episode that highlights the restaurant. Our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Food: the menu listed online is slightly different from what was offered at the restaurant. They were sold out of one of the mains (disappointing since there were only 4 to choose from to begin with). "Pantry": Corn Chowder. Served cold. Tiny serving, but this was unexpectedly delicious. Recommend. "Starter": Cornbread Pudding. Comes with one scallop, piece of cornbread (almost like stuffing) and some collard greens. It has a VERY strong seafood taste that I personally did not prefer. "Starter": Caesar. Comes with 3 little heads of lettuce. Refreshing, but barely any dressing. We asked for an extra side - recommend! "Main": Chicken Country Captain. HUGE portion! The sauce is sooooo flavorful. I just wish there was even more of it and that the chicken was salted more. But overall delicious. "Add Ons": Parker House Rolls. A must. This was my favorite meal in Savannah. The renovation on this place is amazing! Skylights, art deco decor, a pretty courtyard, beautiful private room and smaller private dining room, live music, and excellent food, drinks and service. There is absolutely nothing about this experience that I would change; it was top-notch. Even the bathrooms are luxurious. It's very clear that owners and managers know what they're doing here from the moment you walk in. We arrived at opening time for our 11am reservation and were seated promptly with water service. Our server was so friendly and took the time to chat with us as we're from out of town. It was just lovely meeting her. We had bloody marys, and then I had what I'd call an upgraded mimosa with passionfruit - yum! And the food was absolutely so delicious, I will make it a point to return every time I come to Savannah. I had the duck pastrami, which is literally the best duck dish I've ever had in my life. It's just so, so good. Savory, satisfying, meaty. And their hashbrowns are what McDonald's so badly wishes they could be. Super crispy potato flavor; perfectly seasoned. My poached egg was perfection, as was my brother's omelet - so creamy, fluffy and delicious. I only wish we could have eaten more! Even the green side salad was above my expectations. Just had the best dinner I've had in a while at The Grey. Our server, David, was incredible -- he gave incredible recommendations, was very kind and thoughtful, and just made a good experience great. We enjoyed everything we ate: - Savannah rice balls: small but so flavorful, a little spicy - Cornbread: served warm and so good, didn't love the jalapeño butter - Cornbread fritters; don't sleep on these, we couldn't stop eating them -Succotash: David officially made two very skeptical people fans of succotash, best I've ever had -- just try it! - Whole fish: this was good, even better with the lemon on tap. This restaurant really is an architectural gem. Nestled into a sprawling renovated art deco bus station, you can have so many different experiences here. There are various tables, bars, and dining areas. I sat in "the bar," which was the second room. I really loved the low bar and low seats with the foot rest. Very comfortable and not too high off the ground. And you end up sat next to a lot of single diners, so conversation is encouraged. I had a great time with the person sitting next to me. This is generally set up as a rotating prix-fixe menu for 85 dollars, which includes one pantry (things like pickled vegetables, dips), one starter (mushroom/rice dishes, oysters, salads), and a main (smoked lamb, fish, country captain). I had the red rice balls with smoked mushroom mayo, mushroom middlin (mushroom conserva and parmesan), and the smoked prime rib. The smoked prime rib was okay, but I saw the chicken country captain next to me, and it looked much more impressive. It was a large half chicken on garlic toast, looked moist, well seasoned, and delectable. The drinks are the star here. I was lucky enough to be served by the head bartender responsible for these concoctions. I had Simon's Lighthouse, the Jekyll Beach Bonfire, the Del Boca Vista, and the Revolver. Each had a totally different feel, profile, mood. Each one was delicious. Some fruity in an understated way, some smoky, some earthy. We were visiting Savannah and somebody recommended this restaurant which is an old greyhound bus depot that used to be segregated and they turned it into a nice restaurant that was featured on a Netflix series called the captain's table. It was our anniversary. My husband had the fish curry dish and I had the roasted chicken dinner that came with a mole sauce that I think was a zucchini mole or something like that but everything was delicious. We had the cornbread appetizer before our meal and we had the lemon olive oil cake afterwards and everything was great! A lifetime top dining experience. We inadvertently made a reservation for the first night of a la carte dining (rather than the pre fixe menu they had been running for the last year and a half), so the menu was a bit of a surprise but the chefs absolutely delivered. We sat at the bar in the main dining room, which allowed for casual conversation with the fantastic bartender/server. With placemats embossed with the greyhound logo and the warm lighting over the art deco detail, the ambiance is elevated but so welcoming. We started with the Leek and Potato Soup (smoked fingerling potato, crispy leeks, parsley oil) So creamy and flavorful, without being heavy. We paired it with the Cornbread with Sugar Rush Butter, which was sweet and a tad spicy, though I think the Parker House Rolls would complement the soup dish better as a more neutral bread. The Winter Salad (kale & arugula, pomegranate, chestnut miso, smoked apple) was both delicious and a testament to the attention of the staff and kitchen. The kitchen sent it out complimentary while they took the extra time and effort to fry my food in separate fryer with clean oil to accommodate my seafood allergy. I quickly learned the salad is not to be skipped. Tart, fresh, and crunchy, it's a plate I could eat every day without growing tired of it. The Flounder Crudo was the perfect fish dish. Balanced with the acid and the stability of the flounder, it really made me think about what goes into a truly delicious fish dish. Fried Bon Bon (habanero syrup, crispy sage, farmer's cheese) squash dish was a standout. With the maple flavor of the syrup and tempura-style squash, the dish blended sweet and savory in perfect harmony. The dough evoked funnel-cake nostalgia. The Grilled Quail with Farro was crispy, juicy, and tender. The red wine glaze added a sweet flavor profile to the bird, and the farro brought a nutty warmth to the dish. Lamb Roti (smoky pepper sauce, fingerling potato, chow chow tzatziki) was great for a rainy winter evening in Savannah. The tzatziki had a slight sweetness that rounded out the richness of the lamb. It was perfect for sharing, but would have felt a bit heavy on its own as a main. To cap off the evening, we were brought a Lemon Lavender Popsicle palette cleanser. The flavor profile was spot on, and it made the meal feel absolutely complete. With our stomachs at capacity, we barely glanced at the dessert menu. For next time, we heard the mashed potatoes are amazing. And the whole fish is a well developed dish that can easily be devoured by one person. Had Sunday brunch during our anniversary weekend visit to Savannah. I was excited for this meal and they did not disappoint. Everything from the friendly anniversary card as a welcome to the fun and thoughtful dessert was excellent. We enjoyed the cool jazz/blues/my grandpa's playlist vibes being put down by the live 3-piece band. We truly enjoyed our cocktails (my wife said her Bloody Mary could have been spicier - a her thing). And we thoroughly enjoyed our meals - biscuits and gravy and the duck pastrami. If you enjoy duck, just don't even think. Order it. In Savannah on business, we stopped into the Grey for a last-minute birthday dinner. It's called the Gret because it's an old Greyhound Bus Terminal, and they kept the art deco finishes intact. And the food is fantastic! We started with the Roasted Oysters (charred scallion butter, spicy peanut sauce, serrano) and Winter Salad (kale & arugula, mustard seed, chestnut miso, pumpkin seed). The Roasted Oysters puts any Oyster Rockefeller I've ever had to deep shame! And the salad got me to eat kale willingly, that's how good it was. Then we got the Whole Grilled Fish (2-lb Red Snapper, salsa verde, charred citrus, mashed potato) - holy cow, this was good. Soft, delicate fish with hints of salsa verde and citrus flavor, each bite was divine. And with dessert, they brought out a birthday card and a special bone-shaped meringue. We arrived thinking we would be able to order à la carte, but our reservation was for the set menu. It didn't matter because our dinner was delicious. The cocktails were also wonderful. So why 3/5? -Value: everything on the menu was so expensive considering the size of the portions. -Interior: some of the tables and seats are cramped, so it's rather difficult to have a semi-private conversation. We were so close to other diners on both sides, I found it distracting. Something unique about The Grey is whenever one of us left the table (eg, to go to the bathroom), the closest server would grab our napkin, neatly refold it, and place it on the table. Some diners might find this to be a nice touch, but we thought it was a little weird and potentially unsanitary if random servers are also touching other diners' napkins. I don't know, maybe that's just us. With that said, I think The Grey is the type of restaurant everyone should try at least once. I just don't think it's going to be everyone's cup of tea. No knock against The Grey, but we probably won't go out of our way to return, mainly because in Savannah we can probably find a similar experience without spending a ton. read more

This is an outstanding fine-dining restaurant with superior food and service surrounded by amazing architecture. I'll spare further superlatives, you can see our photos and read details in dozens of other reviews. I will highlight that The Grey serves only a prix fixe three-course menu, the dining experience will be 2-3 hours in length. What I wish to share is the single negative experience we had, one that I'm sure has been encountered by many in other restaurants in the past. When we were seated we noticed a table of two couples near us with three very young children, each ~1 to 3 years of age. The families had also only recently arrived as none of their courses had been served. These children were not terribly behaved. In fact, in most places and circumstances they would never have been noticed. But in this environment, over a period of two hours, they unfortunately became a disruption. The kids at times were playful, and then tired, and then fussy, and every so often- quite noisy. One could tell the children were uncomfortable, which despite their best efforts made the parents uncomfortable, which made other guests including us uncomfortable. I wish to say to every parent with young children who reads this review, PLEASE think twice, and then again, before bringing your kids to a lengthy meal in this or any fine dining restaurant. I'd go as far as to suggest not bringing them, but every parent knows their own children best. Just ask, is this in their best interests? Yours? That of the other restaurant guests? Which brings me to a couple other questions. Does The Grey have responsibility towards allowing young children to dine there for dinner? Did I or any of the guests have responsibility towards saying something about the distraction? My wife has advised me no, this responsibility rests with the parents, and even suggested that I not comment on the children in my review. However, their actions definitely DID prevent our meal from being a five-star experience. So I do hope that The Grey staff did at least caution these parents in advance, before they were seated, about the length of the dinner service and gave them the opportunity to make a different decision than to dine there. The grits are out of this world!!! Could order those and be in heaven!! The hoe cakes with maple syrup were divine! We had a reservation but decided to see if we could be seated earlier for brunch. We were able to snag a seat in the old bus station section by the bar. It was cute and the staff was extremely friendly and on top of everything, bringing things over before we could even ask. read more

Hubby and I along with his brother and our sister-in-law were visiting Savannah for my birthday weekend. We thought The Grey would be a nice place to celebrate. Hubby made reservations for a Saturday night. We started with 2 Old Fashioned cocktails and Parker house rolls. Cocktails were well made and delicious! The rolls were served with softened, salted butter - so delicious! One of the best things we had. I ordered scallops, roasted oysters, and dayboat catch for my 3 course meal. Hubby ordered turnip cakes, diner bar salad, and chicken country captain. I liked everything I ordered. All the seafood was very fresh, the oysters were really delicious, the dayboat catch was flaky and cooked perfectly. Hubby wasn't a huge fan and thought everything was just okay. Since we were celebrating my birthday, they gave us a complimentary dessert of whipped cream and meringue bone cookies. Cute, simple, tasty, and a nice gesture. Overall, pretty good food but pricey for what you get. I enjoyed my meal, however, I probably wouldn't return. read more

Firstly, the complete upside is the location, architecture, history and the stunning surroundings. I would definitely stop by for a cocktail in the diner bar next time. Two for dinner at 6PM on a Sunday. Sat at Gate 2. The dinner is Prix Fixe @$85 pp. My meal was leek & potato soup (good but not warm enough); baba ghanoush (very good); chicken country captain (served in a bread trench) - chicken was tasty but very dry and when you end on a 'dry; note its a bummer. We added on the Parker House rolls - delicious. BFF had beets and mole; beef tartare, quail. Enjoyed the meal. All in all, it was a good meal but we would not try the Prix Fix again. The experience was fun but I don't feel like the food was 'wow'. Service was sufficient but not engaging. Ok. I would recommend for the history of it and try the bar instead. read more

I'm a longtime NYer, and moved to Savannah in 2022. Always wanted to try The Grey. Just to preface, the food scene in Savannah is mediocre. Savannah caters to tourists. Last week, when a friend was visiting, we were able to get right in on a Thursday night, no reservation, around 8 and were sat in the beautifully redesigned dining room. Service, food was decent. A 1938 art deco Greyhound Bus Terminal restored and turned into an elevated southern restaurant. So cool! Everything was delicious. The most standout dish was definitely the crab beignets - absolutely amazingly crunchy, moist, crabby, and a blend of sweet and savory. The fried chicken was also really awesome, using a spice mix that made each flavor pop. My wife loved her eggs Benedict, which appeared perfectly made. Drinks were also fantastic! Every Sunday they serve brunch with live music. Everyone was having fun, even the amazing service. Great atmosphere for a date, family trip, or just an outing with some friends. If you're visiting Savannah & can snag a reservation at The Grey - DO IT! This food was amazing. The meal works as a pre-fixe three course setup, and I loved all of my choices. The corn soup was surprisingly flavorful & had great textural elements with the chow chow. The rabbit spatzle was homey (in the best way), crispy, & filled with rabbit. The fish was cooked perfectly with crispy skin. The wine selection was also very good. Service was, as expected, top notch. So many different people touched our table - the sign of a well-staffed restaurant. The staff was also really helpful when we had to adjust our reservation due to cancelled flights. Regarding the ambiance, there's so much to write about the history of the restaurant being an old segregated bus station (hence the name). I would recommend watching one of the many specials on its history to get the full story (Chef's Table on Netflix has the best one in my opinion). We were truly impressed by the staff's warmth and personable nature. We got tto the restaurant and orordered a smattering of things. The drinks were great, really killer mocktails too. We let time slip away and forgot we had a ghost tour schscheduled close to dinner. They gracious helped us pack a portion of dinner and pushed their staff to get us going to meet our ghost tour appointment Thank you guys so much, y'all made our 1st year anniversary celebration super special and can't wait to visit soon. read more

We had an excellent experience and meal! | Food | We went with the tasting menu and really enjoyed it. It is comprised of three courses. For my starter I chose the smoked fish dip and the roasted oysters. The fish dip was the only thing that was just okay; I didn't like the egg sauce that overtook the delicate flavor of the roe. The salad is a proper caesar salad, with white anchovies, the interesting add of chopped cashews, and thick and briny tonnato dressing. For my main I loved the dayboat catch; it was definitely a meal highlight. The fish was perfectly done and fell off my fork, and all the flavors on the plate worked really well together, even the unanticipated turnips mixed in with the potatoes. | Drinks | I ordered the "Kiss" described as milk punch, with bourbon, pumpkin milk and coffee. I was surprised as it didn't resemble anything like a milk punch, nor did I detect the described flavors. (In retrospect I'm not sure it is the cocktail I ordered?) Anyway, the cocktail was delicious with a silky egg white foam on top. My friend had a Sazerac (her favorite whiskey cocktail) and she said it made it in to her "Top 5"! | Service | It wasn't the best starting experience. Just as we got comfy in our seats with waters served and the parker rolls ordered, the manager came over and asked up if we could move to another table...which was unsettling but after a pause he offered "a round of drinks on me". Our parkers rolls still hadn't arrived after our starters were finished so our server said she would check on them. She came back and informed us they were sold out, just as two baskets of them arrived to our first table where guests were seated after us. Disappointing for sure. However, throughout the remainder of our meal she provided excellent service and mid-meal she even procured some of those rolls for us as complimentary. | Atmosphere | I adore a repurposed building and they did a great job with turning an art deco Greyhound bus station into a restaurant retaining all the cool factor. Not sure where the problem lies, but it took a VERY long time to get both our drinks and our food. I also thought the portions were quite small for the price. Three of us ate two small plates and two large and were not very full, and the large plates are the price of a very filling entree elsewhere. Unique atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. Clams on toast - only had perhaps four very small bits of clam. Mostly butter beans and more than enough/too much bagna cauda. Very good overall flavors, but very disappointed in extremely limited amount of clams. read more
