We came here to celebrate a birthday and left very disappointed. My husband and I were sat next to two very large parties which made it very hard to hear one another without yelling at each other. The food was mediocre at best. We had the bolognese and diavola pizza. The pasta was bland and poorly seasoned. We love spice, but the pizza was almost inedible because of how spicy it was. There was no balance to the flavors and it was so spicy that's all you could taste. Lastly, we came here to celebrate a birthday and noted that in our reservation and mentioned it to our waitress. Both of the tables next to us received a complimentary dessert with a candle and we received nothing. It's a hip little Starland District eatery with delicious, house-made pasta, stone-oven cooked pizzas, and a killer affogato. Great for date night or a girls' night out. For me, the $$-$$$ prices make this an occasional indulgence, but not a special occasion splurge. The focaccia is huge, served with an olive oil-balsamic dip. I prefer olive oil straight up, and they cheerfully accommodated. Service was pleasant and attentive, and if our server didn't know something -- it was her first day -- she got answers for us. Seriously. The focaccia can probably serve four to eight people. It's a round, slightly sour, springy crumbed loaf the size of a layer cake with flecks of sun-dried tomato and a little grated cheese. I ordered the safe entree choice, tagliatelle with bolognese sauce. The portion size was reasonable, but it was so savory that I could have eaten two plates full! My friend had the squid ink pasta with scallops, I think. I'm not an ink pasta fan , but this was exceptional, fresh and briny. And the affogato -- espresso over gelato, was just what I needed before going to hear live music. read more

Loved sitting at the bar and watching all the magic happen! Service was spot on, pastas are made in house, and we have dined here serveral times. Expect seasonal menu changes at Lucia Pasta Bar. Also, while seated at the bar overlooking the open kitchen, we noticed the restaurant is very focused on portion control and pasta is carefully measured out which explains a more modest serving size. Most likely you won't need a "To Go" box and will finish your meal in entirety. One of my favorite items here is the Caesar Salad which our waiter asked if we wanted to share. Yes, please - we assumed it was large enough to share and indeed it was. Very good. The Tagliatelle Bolognese ($25) is a classic and yummy. A reorder. Also enjoyed was the Campanelle ($22) with crispy shallots. The Grandma Jacovino's Steak Pazzalaiolo, ($38) topped with marinara and mozzarella arrived smothered and covered, and made me wonder what the toppings were hiding. We ordered the steak, in addition to our own entrees, to be shared. Unfortuantely, we all found the steak fell short of expectations and was noticeably chewy and lacked tenderness. Not a reorder. We have been here several times and every single time has been a great experience. We prefer sitting at the pasta bar as it is entertaining to see the chefs at work but there is other seating as well. We have found that about 4 total items does the trick for filling us up but will sometimes go rogue and get 5 because there are so many good options on the menu! Pictured here are the asparagus, octopus, pizza and the mafaldine pasta. Not pictured is the pistachio cannoli as that only lasted about 10 seconds in front of us - they are amazing. I am truthfully not a huge asparagus fan but the wife loves it...and Lucia may have converted me and was probably my favorite item of the night. The staff is friendly and are very quick to grt drink orders and water refills. They also were kind enough to give us a to go cannoli for my wife's birthday, which was a very nice gesture. read more

I wish I would've taken more pictures but we were legit eating so fast it didn't have a chance! The vibes were immaculate, the service was great, and we had such a good time. We started with the focaccia and romaine lettuce and both were delicious and I'd absolutely recommend. I had the princess pasta which was bomb but my friend ordered the beet pasta and 1000% it is the way to go it was such a unique flavor! I would absolutely recommend coming here. My experience was 10/10! I was visiting my friend and I felt like we needed a treat. She had mentioned she wanted to try Lucia Pasta Bar. We didn't make a reservation but were lucky to be sat. I'm sure it's best practice to make a reservation, especially if you have a large party. We got sat at the bar and I just want to say the waitresses/bartenders were AMAZING. I wish I got their names. They kept the vibes going and were giving the best customer service! I'm so grateful because this is the type of experience I LOVE to have at restaurants. We ordered a bottle of wine, the focaccia, the vodka pasta & the steak. The focaccia was amazing and huge! The steak was my favorite. I can't get over how moist and crusty it was. The portions were huge. The total was $134 for all of this. I was in awe with the price and the quality. The service we received was obviously a huge plus! I was lucky to snag a seat here! Even though it was about an hour wait for a solo spot, I passed the time with a drink at Smol and came back just in time to grab a seat at the bar. The space inside is absolutely beautiful, and the atmosphere made the wait worthwhile. I ordered a cocktail and the tortellini pasta dish--both were fantastic. I only stayed about 20 minutes to make sure others could get a chance to sit, but I definitely want to return and explore more of their menu. read more

We were visiting Savannah, and we made reservations on the advice of our hotel staff. The hostess at the front was brusque. No smile. No niceties. Our waiter was nice but knocked our bottle of wine to the floor. The bottle didn't break, but the majority of it either sprayed on our trousers or spilled on the floor before the waiter picked it up from the floor. Manager came to our table: "We can discount the bottle for the glass of wine that you lost." I'm a small business owner. That's not how you keep customers. You keep customers by accommodating them. Lucia will have a short shelf life as a result her staff espousing communist perestroika rather than customer-centric conscientiousness. Enjoy it while it stays open. read more

Overall for Savannah it's a great addition but I wouldn't ever waste my money there again. Price: great prices!!! Food: mediocre at best. I had the clams, bolognese, squid ink bucatini - clams were clams in butter. Bolognese was a disappointment. I am SO happy this restaurant opened! Savannah desperately needed it! Every dish is truly perfection. I've been twice now, and both times we started with the octopus and potato appetizer... heavenly doesn't even begin to describe it. And the salad? Not "just a salad." We had a reservation for 7pm for Father's Day. We have a 1 year old so needed a high chair, there was 2 two tops available in the dining room, one had no space at all and one had plenty for high chair. We asked the host who was in a funky pattern shirt politely to be at the two top with more space so that the high chair will fit, the host rudely said it's reserved and left before we could finish talking. I know how restaurants work we also had a reservation, I've been a host and server for years and you can just switch the reservations on the iPad or servers can switch tables. (Also we saw the two top get sat shortly after so it's not like they needed to combine it with another table or something). Anyways since we are 4 inches from the table next to us with a toddler, the table next to us would not leave us alone our whole dinner. Now let me say our server (beautiful girl with glasses and a bun) didn't do a thing wrong she was amazing. Just sucks cause it felt like our Father's Day dinner would have been perfect if the host didnt want to have a power trip. We went on a Thursday evening so the noise level was moderate. We sat at the bar. Our server is named Shay, she was knowledgeable about the wine selection and attentive throughout our time. The servings were small compared to most restaurant dishes but the taste, fresh ingredients made the dishes stand out. I was ready to love this place - it's close by and the chef is well respected. I was sadly disappointed. While the flavors are good, the portions are a bit small. I know "arancino" means there is one, but normally one would be larger considering the price. 7 scarpinocc seemed a bit meager, especially as the shape lends itself to a small amount of filling. It was delicious, but a couple of more pieces would have helped. Service was good: friendly and on top of things. The biggest drawback is the volume. It's insanely loud with only hard surfaces and nothing to dampen the sound. You cannot hear across the table. Honestly, I couldn't wait to get out of there, and my husband felt the same. The curved, petite chairs weren't the most comfortable, but they certainly ensured you wouldn't overindulge. Portions here are well-balanced--not the oversized plates you often find in American dining, but just the right amount. We tried the much-talked-about focaccia; personally, I prefer a lighter, airy, and crisp style, so the denser loaf wasn't my favorite. On the other hand, the beet dish was excellent, and the tortellini had a nice kick of spice. For non-drinkers, options are limited to water or canned soda, with no straws available. Dessert was a highlight--the cannoli shell was perfectly crisp, though the filling leaned a bit heavy on citrus. Still, the texture was light and pleasant.
