We used to love Garibaldi's so much, as we would drive 3 hours from Columbia SC to Savannah GA, and back just to enjoy the scored flounder. So, after moving to GA recently, we decided to go back for my birthday. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the old Italian look of this place. We could not have asked for a better table location as we were all the way in the back and tucked away in the corner, very private and romantic. The only issue is the circular coach seating was worn out, and I knew with bad back I might in for an uncomfortable night. The service itself was professional, but not very friendly. While most staff members seemed to smile and appeared to be enjoying themselves, our waiter acted like he did not want to be there. As for the food, it just did not measure up to the past, as there was 1 great dish, 1 OK dish, 1 not so good and 1 just bad. We started out strong with Denver Lamb Ribs with a sweet Ginger soy sauce glaze. Easily the best rib dish we ever had. We debated on our next dish between the Lobster Cocktail or Stone Crab Claw and unfortunately went for the Crab as it had years since we had some. We both agreed the Crab meat did not seem fresh as it was mushy and the sauce lacked the tang of a traditional Stone Crab sauce. We both ordered the Crispy Scored Flounder as that is the reason we came here in the 1st place. The dish is a Flounder, that is scored on both sides into easy chunks to eat, with and Apricot Shallot Sauce. Overall, it was an OK dish, but not as good as either of us remembered as it could have used more sauce on top of the fish. We finished up with a poorly executed Bourbon Pecan pie. This dish looked (see picture) and tasted not much different than a Little Debbie pie you buy in boxes of 10 at the grocery store. This small round piece of pie had zero Bourbon sauce or flavor whatsoever. The dish seemed so out of place both looking and tasting, that I went to see what others posted on yelp, and what we were served didn't even come close to previous dinners experiences. Going to bed hungry. Disappointed is an understatement. I bring my family here for Christmas every year and it's always amazing food and service. Was expecting that same experience tonight but that was not the case. We orders drinks, no problem. Apps and salad were a little slower than usual but all good no worries. Then they forgot my soup, not a big deal, I'll be quiet it's busy, I'll just wait for my ribeye. One hour later, no steak. 20 more minutes nothing. My mom is falling asleep at the table at this point, almost 10pm now. I ask the manager to just close my tab, no steaks in sight. The manager comp'd our food but we still had a $100 tab and like i said I was still pretty hungry. Dunno what's going on there but not happy about it. read more

Incredible dinner at Garibaldi's to kick off my friend's bachelorette weekend. The restaurant is upscale yet cozy. The service was kind and checked on us frequently. My friend and I elected to split the lobster Rabini and the kitchen was kind enough to split it onto two plates for us, so nice of them! The lobster and pasta was excellent, I'm so glad we got it considering the high price. All of us agreed that Garibaldis were some of our best bites this entire weekend! read more

I made a reservation for Garabaldi's for my anniversary and the ambience set the tone just like I wanted. It was very cutesy, dark and romantic. Our waiter was very soft spoken, yet friendly and knowledgeable. I had the fried snapper, which was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed my espresso martinis. We had 5:30 reservations. We were early for our dinner. It took over a half an hour for french onion soup ....then another 1/2hr later I asked a manger to check on our meal....he came to tell us another 3 minutes. I had nothing and my husband only had the soup. After waiting a half hour no reason no excuse nothing...food was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Upon walking in, we were greeted enthusiastically. It was refreshing. Our server was promptly at our table to get our dinner experience underway! Executive Chef Gerald Green made the visit even more special by personally preparing my dessert and bringing it upstairs. The Almond Berry Basket with Cinnamon Ice Cream was delicious and beautiful! We went for an early bird dinner on a Saturday night and had a lovely experience. They seated us in the second floor window which was a real treat- some fabulous people watching. Our server Bobby was knowledgeable, professional and really nice. The scallop main entree was a nice plate of well-seared scallops and a light yet flavorful sauce. Paired with the heart of palms salad it was a lovely filling dinner. My friend had the pasta primavera and it too was flavorful with nice bright vegetables. What a great find in Savannah. read more

We had a reservation at a different restaurant but ended up being there almost an hour before we were even brought any water or drinks. We left and ended up at Garibaldi's! They were able to seat our party of 8 with short notice. Our server, Drew, was awesome! He was knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. The food and drinks were great as well. It's always an enjoyable evening at Garibaldis. Great food, classic cocktails, lovely upscale restaurant. My favorite starter is their Olive Bowl with Mediterranean olives and a Tunisian olive mix. Yummy. For the dinner entree I opted for the 5 Layer Lasagna of mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, veal, beef and Italian sausage and their marinara - decadent! I really stepped out of my box by ordering the Lasagna as my standard order at Garibaldis is their Crispy Scored flounder. Thankfully, my son shared a bit of his, and as always, it was delicious! Service was absolutely great, no complaints there. The food and drinks are not great quality. Tastes very low quality with a high price. Drinks were even worse than the food. Atmosphere is nice, but if you sit upstairs the floor shakes as everyone walks around. Overall, I feel like this place is an overrated tourist attraction. read more

This meal was the highlight of our New Year's Eve! Our waitress Clara was so sweet and helpful with us, selecting the perfect food. We had the stone, crab claws, fried oysters, raw oysters, the halibut special, and the lobster special. All along with a bottle of champagne and a complementary crème brûlée to congratulate us on our recent engagement. Garibaldis is chic, gorgeous inside, has genuinely good service and the food is phenomenal! I am so happy my friend took me here this stay! She said it was her favorite spot and it's now mine too! You have to sit upstairs, the bottom doesn't do the place justice even though it's really nice. Very swanky! ;-) We ordered the chicken piccata to share with the mushroom risotto, and had two salads! Our tab was so affordable! I could y believe it. The Mushroom risotto is a MUST- it's pure butter in your mouth and sooo rich and good! A few bites is all you need. The salads were massive! I had the artichoke salad which was huge and they split our entree for us without us having to ask. This place is very underrated! 5 stars all around and such a great date night! read more

The building is gorgeous as you walk up - we walked from our hotel so didn't have to worry about parking in a somewhat crowded area. All of the staff were friendly and attentive. There was an issue with finding the bottle of wine we ordered so we waited longer than expected but the waitress handled it well. We were seated upstairs which was very pretty with all the Christmas decor up, we commented how it was nice it wasn't very loud or crowded. On the whole, the food was all just very okay. We got French onion soup and a poached pear salad to start - the soup needed salt (once we salted the flavors did pop a bit) and the salad was good but basic and could have easily been elevated. We got the clam linguine and the chicken piccata. The chicken piccata was nicely done - not a chicken cutlet as expected but a thicker piece that was very nicely prepared. The amount of green beans with it was sufficient but presentation wise on the plate looked small. The clam linguine sort of fell apart for us. Where the menu said diced tomatoes, we go halved cherry tomatoes that were raw. The clams are presented in shell on top of the linguine so to fully enjoy the dish, you have to take them all out first. The sauce was good but not thick enough so it didn't stick to the noodles. The rolls were nice and fluffy that they bring for the table. On the whole, we had a nice night but likely wouldn't prioritize returning here. read more

We come to Savannah at least once a year and always have to go to Garibaldi's. One of the reasons is the amazing veal chop dish they have there at least one of us orders it every time we go. It did not disappoint and is well worth the price and wait if there is one. My wife had the veal chop this year and I had the strip steak. I'm always a little leery ordering a steak at a restaurant because for the price it has to be cooked just the way you want and anything else is not worth it. In this case it was well worth it it was cooked perfectly to temperature requested thick fat was trimmed perfectly the mushroom blue cheese that was put over the steak matched perfectly. The other reason we always go to Garibaldi's is the amazing ambience and the service. Our service tonight met up to the expectations of high class friendly knowledgeable and helpful. We have been coming here for over 25 years unfortunately have never had a bad experience. Would recommend reservations early no later than 6:00 as you want to make sure you get what you want to order as well as staff and kitchen that is fresh. Also, keep the party to four guests or under, the kitchen staff and the other guests will greatly appreciate it. We will definitely return and expect another great experience. read more

This was our first visit, and it has a nice, upscale, yet comfortable ambience. We were seated at a cozy, upholstered bench seat table for two. The seat cushion definitely needed to be replaced as it was worn out and not too comfortable. For starters, I had a cup of jambalaya (really spicy, but good), she had the poached pear salad and loved it. For entrées, she went with the Carbonara and I had the Chicken Parmesan. Her Carbonara was tasty, but we both thought it would be better with either spaghetti or fettuccine noodles versus the shell noodles. My Chicken Parmesan was very average tasting. My favorite restaurant in Savannah! My husband and I come here for all celebration dinners. We even contacted them for our wedding reception space, but unfortunately their private event space was too small for our party. We always have outstanding food with even better service here. Usually we have an all out meal with wine, cocktails, appetizers, entrees and desserts. We're always in and out in around an hour and a half, so we're never waiting long for our food or drinks to come out. Our most recent visit, we had Bobby as our server. He is hands down the best server we have had! He was so pleasant, knew the menu and specials inside and out, and accommodated our dietary needs. He also had a really cute tie on lol. Next time we dine in, we will request Bobby. I do recommend making a reservation in advance. You can book on Open Table or call ahead. read more

Not sure if there was another event going on, but be mindful of the parking situation when daytime drinking ends and nighttime shenanigan begin. Believe the hype, this place really is that good. I feel like a lot of returns to in Savannah are overrated and overpriced. The food may taste good, but they aren't amazing. This place was absolutely delicious. The wagyu specialty appetizer was so good- I wish they added a bit more meat to it since we shared it, but not going lie, the flavors were on point. The 5 layered lasagna was everything I wanted. So much flavor, so many layers, so filling! The seafood fettuccine Alfredo was delish. A bit creamy- so my lactose free friends beware! But it's totally worth it. Ambiance was romantic. It's one of the first nice restaurants I went to when I came to Savannah over 30 years ago. The food was excellent and the service was great parking can be difficult because it's on Congress Street. The only thing was is when my husband ordered lamb chops they gave him three such small lamb chops. He had to eat part of my dinner to fill up so they could improve on the size of their lamb chops. The ambience was pleasant and pretty much what I expected from what I heard from other people I still would recommend it, but they should be able to improve the size or portions of their food. read more

This restaurant is within walking distance from the Planter's Inn. We walked there at night using map app. If I could nominate a server for an award, Susan would win it hands down. In our conversations with her, Susan suggested that her skills have evolved over the last couple months. Well, she learned her lessons well, A+. We were seated upstairs and if this is the overflow seating, I'll take it everyday. Beautiful space with high ceilings, nicely spaced seating and elegant charm. Oh yes, and then there is the food. The seafood alfredo was packed with delicious seafood, although the mussels were tough. Cold dishes, like shrimp and lobster cocktail made a happy meal for my sister. My gal loved her seared salmon. We had an absolutely fabulous dinner at Garibaldi over the holiday. I was unaware the restaurant had a second floor. The first floor is quite grand, with beautiful banquette tables, tin tile ceilings, dim lighting, and an elegant bar. The upstairs, however, with high ceilings, gorgeous finishings, brighter chandeliers, and beautiful potted palms, takes it to another level. We started with fried green tomatoes, which were utterly perfect, and a poached pear salad that was to die for! The crispy-scored flounder was even better than the famous version at the Olde Pink House, IMO, and the veal Milanese was outstanding. The manager paid us a visit and ensured everything was to our liking and our servers went above and beyond. The value to the quality of the experience was excellent. I would highly recommend Garibaldi. We can't wait to return. read more
