Veratina in Savannah was an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The caprese salad with peaches was absolutely delicious, fresh, bright, and a perfect balance of sweet and savory. For pasta, we had the tagliatelle with veal ragù, which was bursting with deep, rich flavor, and the strozzapreti, which was incredibly light yet still full of flavor in every bite. We ended the night with dessert, and both were exceptional, the blackberry sorbet was refreshing and vibrant, and the chocolate budino was rich, silky, and amazing. We also sat on the back patio with our dog, which we really appreciated since they are dog-friendly. The only suggestion would be to improve the walkway access to the back patio for guests with dogs; it wasn't the most comfortable route, as the adjacent area was quite messy. Our favorite meal in Savannah! We did not expect to find an amazing Italian meal coming from NY in the south but every bite was better than the last. My hubby and I shared everything and I don't even know what I liked most. The focaccia was a must order and I enjoyed the 3 dips that accompanied it especially the ricotta. The burrata salad was the most fresh and flavorful salad- each ingredient worked so well together- I could have eaten this every day. The pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe was cooked al dente to perfection with a light flavorful sauce. Veratina ins a newer Italian restaurant in Savannah. It is very nice inside , upscale casual. The ambiance is very comforting. The service was outstanding. We ordered arancini to start and they were excellent! Nice crispy outer shell and the cheese inside was gooey and very flavorful. We ordered the stratacuzzi (spelling?) which wa sin the specials menu. It was mild and had bits of broccoli rabe and sausage. It was excellent! I asked our server if it was homemade and he said they do make the pasta in house, wow! Delicious! We also ordered chicken parm which truthfully was some of the best we've ever tasted. We also shared the onion pizza which was on the specials menu. It was ok. I think it may have been a bit overdone. The pistachio ricotta cake was good. The crust was a bit overdone. Yum!!! Veratina was one of our last stops in Savannah. We found this place on a whim and went about 15 minutes after opening. We ordered a an appetizer, pizza, and pasta and it was plenty of food for 2. Crispy potatoes were a bit greasy but everything else was fresh. Everything was super flavorful and our server was the sweetest. The details of the restaurant, down to the plates, were all very well thought out. Took a chance on the new restaurant in Savannah and so glad we did. Everything was so amazing. Interior of restaurant was beautiful and our server was nice and attentive. Ordered the arancini appetizer.. Would give that a 5/5 and it was better than the arancini we had in Sicily. Split 3 entrees among us three and it was the perfect amount of food. Ordered the chicken parm, strozzapretti pasta dish, and the special menu had an onion bechamel pizza. The chicken parm and strozzapretti were amazing. The strozzapretti had broccoli rabe and it and it was really well done. Sometimes when broccoli rabe isn't cooked right it gets bitter but that wasn't the case. Chicken parm was perfect. Onion pizza wasn't anything special and couldn't really taste the bechemel. Had the pistachio ricotta pie and the filling was great but the crust was overcooked. I would definitely try a different dessert if I came back. Bill was $250 with a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails which I felt was very decent. Can't wait to come back ! read more

It's a smaller restaurant, so recommend reservations, especially on weekends, to be sure you can get a table. It is nicely decorated, elegant but not fancy. Very cute outdoor, secluded seating! For an apetizer, the CHEESY RICE BALLS were phenominal. Don't miss them! I ordered the housemade CHEESE AND HERB RAVIOLI covered in a creamy version of their featured house red sauce. It was divine! BAM! I believe the herb was basil, but didn't write review quick enough and it slipped my noggin. They had a large selection of different raviolis and different sauces that could be paired. Or you could pair sauce with a type of fresh house pasta. My wife ordered a WOOD FIRED PIZZA, the only proper way to bake an Italian pie. It was delicious. The only dish I would say was a little bland was the artichoke pizza that was on special. I was excited to try this place and the atmosphere is great. Server was good and made suggestions on what to try. The Arancini had good reviews and it wasn't bad but I was a little disappointed on the flavor of the bread crumb crust, as it was bland. my wife enjoyed this more than me. The crust on the pizza I ordered was soggy in the middle and burnt on the bottom outer part with about a quarter of the top crust burnt. The favor of the pizza (other than the burnt portion) was good. my wife ordered the Strozzapreti which had a good flavor but the noodles were undercooked. They were not Al dente. My gripe is the chicken parm $26 doesn't come with pasta or any side - adding a small side of spaghetti was an additional $14 (waiter said it was only a "couple bucks more", I was surprised to see it billed as $14, but didn't bring it up). Enjoyed the tiramisu, and other pastry dessert - ice cream wasn't good - salted, but an overbearing amount that was no good. The Italian inspired menu with local southern flair reflected in both their food and signature cocktails is something you should not miss. To participate in the happy hour specials, you need to sit at the bar. We didn't mind because it gave us a chance to visit with both bartenders and the manager about the food, drinks and the food we should try on our next visit. You will find both casual and upscale dining areas that include inside dining area, the bar and an outside patio. The food was outstanding. They are known for their wood fired oven pizzas. The pizzas are not NY or Chicago style and have a very fluffy crust. We had the arancini as an appetizer on the HH menu. It was delicious! Followed by the wedge. My wife and I were in Savannah for the weekend and had dinner at Veratina on a hot Friday night in July. We arrived a little early for our reservation and headed to the bar in the back to wait. We met a delightful bartender (Alex?) who hooked us up with a couple of glasses of Chianti. The restaurant was quite busy as we surveyed the other guests while waiting. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. My eye caught the pizza-making station and made our dinner selection easy once seated. The hostess seated us at the first table right by the main door. Other guests hovered around our table while they were waiting to be seated, which was not ideal. Also, the noise level in this front dining room was deafening compared to the bar area. If you can get seated towards the back or if the dew point is not in the 70s, even outside, all the better. We couldn't carry on a conversation seated across from one another. We ordered a wedge salad to split as a starter and a Margherita pizza that wasn't on the menu. The wedge salad arrived already split but swimming in dressing. It was a huge portion and delicious, apart from the excessive dressing. When we asked our server about the disproportionate amount of dressing, he said, "Yeah, I noticed that." Why not replate it then with less dressing? The pizza came out shortly thereafter. It looked and tasted delicious. Their crust was not your typical pizza crust, but in a good way. We were not sure what made the crust unusually delicious. Was it honey? We thoroughly enjoyed our pie and found it the perfect size for two. Overall, our meal was enjoyable. We should have just stayed at the bar in the back, though, and had our dinner there. read more

Came here for dinner with a group of four and overall had a really great experience, with one hiccup that's worth noting. We ordered a mix to share, two salads, the focaccia, chicken parm, and two pizzas, and the food was excellent across the board. The standout was definitely the short rib special pizza, seriously amazing. The focaccia was also a highlight, super light and airy, and the dipping sauces were so good we didn't leave a drop behind. Service throughout the meal was warm and attentive, which really elevated the experience. The only downside was how things started. We arrived at 5:55 for a 6:00 reservation and were told we couldn't be seated until exactly 6. Normally not a big deal, but we were walked past several empty tables, including ours, and asked to stand by the bar for a few minutes, which felt a bit awkward and set an odd tone to kick things off. It's clearly not on the host or waitstaff, but it might be something for management to reconsider in terms of the guest experience. That aside, the food and service really delivered, and I'd definitely come back. read more

Oh my, what a thrill to be the first to introduce this new south historic district Italian restaurant. Their stellar upgrades/renovations since taking over the former establishment include an open kitchen, brick pizza oven, enclosed porches, lovely yet small outdoor deck. Currently they are only open for lunch, but once they have their liquor license they'll open for dinner service. Fresh, crisp and creative is my take of their Wedge Salad. The layers of fresh greens, parsley, tomato, prosciutto with Gorgonzola crumbles will keep me coming back for more! Six of us (three couples) just finished a terrific evening at Veratina. We were greeted and welcomed properly by the hostess and the manager, Chad. We were promptly seated and Tyler was quick to offer us a variety of water options. Cocktails were all en point and my Tito's Martini with a splash of sour mix was perfect - although they don't have sour mix. They have their own concoction, made them perfect. Our meals were all beautifully presented and hot. I really like when I'm served hot food. The chicken parm dish was unique and had a wonderful flavor, as did the Tagliatelle. The others were pleased too. The pimento Mac 'n cheese, soppresetta pizza were all terrific. Our server, Tyler, and manager Chad, were very attentive, knowledgeable, professional and very proud to show off what makes Veratina so popular in town with locals: confidence in the product. We came here on a Saturday night at 6pm without a reservation and were almost turned away until we found out that patio was open even though it had been raining all day. Atlas, who was working the host stand was able to get us seated and in and out of there before the rain started back up. Shout out to Atlas for being awesome and accommodating! We had the focaccia, tagliatelle and the broccoli strozzapretti dish and they were excellent. We're visiting for LA and have dined at some of the best Italian spots in LA & NY so it wasn't the best Italian we've ever had but it was still great and memorable and def recommend! The vibes and service were 10/10. Food was 8/10 but I'm a tough critic. It was our best meal in Savannah. read more

Dropped by for their lunch yesterday and I'm definitely going to be going back. This place is amazing and their food is even better than that. They have counter service for lunch and just started doing regular dinner service within the last few weeks. It is Italian based cuisine and their chef has nailed it. The space is clean, well decorated and their plates are vintage and classy. Got their Chicken Parm sandwich and the portion size was perfect but it was the flavor that took it over the edge. Would say it was probably the most flavorful red sauce with their chicken i have ever had!!! They have wine and beer sales now but only did their iced tea. This is a cute new little addition to the restaurant scene in Savannah. Italian is by far of my favorite cuisine so I was very excited to try this restaurant. Currently they're only open for lunch 11-4 while they work on their expanded dinner menu. Even with this soft opening, the restaurant was completely full at lunchtime. Ordering right now is counter service and they do have a seasonal special menu. The appetizers were by far the best thing that we ordered. The sauce with the arancini was quite literally licked up. However, I am picky about my pasta, and everyone at the table agreed that these dishes were a little bit too al dente. Maybe the owners are trying to go for a more authentic Italian pasta feel, which in its true nature is served al dente most of the time. But the edges of the ravioli were quite literally hard to chew. It almost felt like they hadn't been cooked long enough and were rushed to get out to the table. The tiramisu is the only dessert on the menu, with a light cream. However, the lady fingers only tasted differently of espresso and were dry. What an amazing hidden gem in Savannah. I myself am a private chef and this place truly WOWED me in every way: the food was absolutely some of the best around and our Server Philip was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and a pleasure to be around. I didn't know that brussel sprouts could ever taste that good. We had one of the pizzas for an app, a homemade pasta dish, and the lamb osso bucco. This was our second visit to Veratina. Our first visit was ok, but not great, so we decided to give it another try. First, I should say that the service was great and we really enjoyed our waitress. The food, however, was not so great. The highlight of the meal was the waitress and the appetizer. We had the focaccia bread with three spreads, all of which were excellent. For the main entree, I had the Delmonico Steak. The steak tasted ok, but was mostly fat and gristle. Only about 10% of it was edible. I also had the Community Coffee cocktail. It was $15 and one of the best cocktails that I have ever tasted. The downside is that it is served in a small glass with one HUGE ice cube in it, so you only get about a shot of liquor. I ordered a second one and requested no ice cube...I got the same amount of liquor in the same glass, but no ice ...just a small amount of liquor in the bottom of a normal cocktail glass. It was delicious, but definitely not worth $15 for the miniscule amount of liquor that you receive. The waitress was obviously embarrassed by the tiny drink, and apologized for it. My wife had a shrimp dish similar to ravioli. It was horrible, (sorry, no other word to describe it). The shrimp was clearly not fresh and the fishy taste was so bad that we couldn't eat it (and we are seafood fans). There is really no excuse for serving bad shrimp that isn't fresh here in Savannah...fresh shrimp is literally available everywhere here. At the end of the meal we left the waitress a nice tip, and decided not to return. The only exception would be for the focaccia bread and a glass of wine. read more
