    Pricey, slightly stuffy and pretentious. Venue drips old money. Perfectly portioned seven course tasting with optional wine pairing. Drinks: Wine list is a mile long, we had excellent luck there 5/5. Not a cocktail place - my old fashioned was overpowering. Appetizers: Lobster was the star of the night, slightly overpowered with Parmesan but easily earned 5/5. Salad was bland and underwhelming, 2/5. Soups were thin and light, I enjoyed the balance but a little non traditional, 3.5/5. Mains: Flounder was comfort food but forgettable, 3/5. Snapper was oddly paired with beets, goat cheese and mushrooms, everything was cooked properly but did not harmonize together 2.5/5. Steak was also great with peppercorn 4.5/5. Dessert: Red velvet was sweet and dense like a squash cake, fine but forgettable 3/5. Overall 3.5/5 this would possibly make an "impress the parents" type list or for serious wine lovers, otherwise not worth the fuss.

    If you have not been iit should be on your "must go" list. This restaurant gets accolade's for a reason and they are well earned. Our server was a delightful, energetic, fact filled joy. The food that followed was beyond our expectations. We had the European wine pairing which was spot on with every course from the small bites to the desserts. If you are not a wine connoisseur you could leave this off and order your preferred wine or cocktail and still have an incredible experience. The ambiance was romantic and elegant, it did not disappoint. Being from the south I was proud to show off the southern charm to my Oregon companion. I would have loved if we could have had a horse and buggy ride pick us up directly after our dinner to have a tour of the beautiful city but at no fault of the restaurant that wasn't possible. A highly recommended restaurant.

    This restaurant is a must try! Outstanding service and delicious food. My friend and I did the girls trip to Savannah and we decided to treat ourselves on the first night to a seven course dinner. We made the reservations a month to an advance and was able to give our dietary restrictions in the comment section. It was so amazing that when we sat down, there were menu options. For my friend she can't do dairy and for myself I don't do fish. I was happy to find out that with the two different menus that they gave me. I could take things from each menu to create my courses. Although I said I couldn't do fish they gave me ain't no seafood menu. I do eat other seafood. So I loved how accommodating they were. Now let's talk about the staff. The staff was so amazing. There were two waiters that waited on us. They were very attentive. We asked questions about wine to go with our meal. We were able to sample and decided on a lovely red wine to go with our meal for the night. Service is an A+ Onto the food. The food was really good. There was a crabcake that I got that was really delicious and my steak was cooked to perfection. There were a few things that needed to have a little salt and pepper added other than that. Everything was pretty good. The dessert was so amazing. So instead of us getting one dessert each we ended up getting an extra dessert because my friend is lactose intolerant, they brought a sherbet. Let me tell you that raspberry sherbet was the most amazing sherbet that I have ever had in my life. The way we were fighting over eating it, no notes. The whole restaurant is such a great vibe. Fine dining aspect of it and the music playing. This is just such a great experience to have solo, with friends or this will be an amazing date night. When I come back to Savannah to visit I will definitely come back. Worth the $125!

    Elegant fine dining at its (almost) best. I'm a hard grader and the flaws were trivial and absolutely forgivable. In the interest of brevity I won't go into detail about the food but will copy their menu descriptions verbatim with my praise or petty complaints where needed. This was a 7 course tasting menu (the only way they do it here), with most courses offering a choice from among two or three, which the diner decides at the beginning of the evening after listening to the very detailed descriptions from a person I'll call the "food whisperer," a distinguished looking gentleman with a stoop and a limp, long white hair, a quiet talker, and a penchant for putting his hand on your shoulder when he leans in to speak. It probably took him over 5 minutes to get through them! After ordering an excellent Peach Old Fashioned and sampling some of the complimentary table bread (very good buttermilk biscuits with house-made marmalade) I made my food selections: 1. "Assorted Small Tastes From the Kitchen" (Tiny appetizers: a cheesy crab tart in phyllo, baked mussel in spicy sauce and Parmesan, salmon morsel with wasabi.) 2. Tuna Crudo with Pan Seared Sea Scallop, Avocado and Calabrian Peppers 3. Butternut Squash Soup Over Housemade Chorizo and Chickpea Fritter 4. Mixed Organic Greens and Fresh Herbs With NC Somerset Apples, Goat Cheese and a Light Herb Vinaigrette 5. Pumpkin and Sunflower Seed Crusted Filet of Local Flounder, Roasted Cauliflower, Spinach-Feta Torte, and Roasted Tomato Butter 6. Pepper Crusted Aspen Ridge Beef Tenderloin, Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes, Broccolini, and Madeira Cream Sauce 7. Granny Smith Apple and Cranberry Pie with a Pecan Crumble Topping and Housemade Butter Pecan Ice Cream The menu doesn't do justice to these creations. They were all complex with flavors that need to be savored slowly, with surprises like the briny caperberry with the flounder, and were artfully presented on the plates. Trivial flaws included a rather coarse and dry crust on the slightly overcooked flounder, scallops of 2 different sizes, slightly overdressed salad greens, and the "small tastes" in the first course were maybe too small to fully appreciate. The tenderloin was among the best I've had anywhere. Overall the 7 courses, smallish individually, were enough for a large but not excessive meal. Listening to the food whisperer / sommelier describe in intriguing detail the wines to other diners I almost regretted not getting the curated wine paring. The $75 price and the fact that I was already enjoying a rather strong cocktail stopped me. I did however have one glass of very good wine he recommended after listening to my preferences. And the espresso I finished the meal with was perfection. My waiter on the other hand, the person who actually took my order and bought the food, was not so likeable. A man of few words and a sullen expression, reciting the names of the courses as presented by rote. It looked like it pained him to present a Happy Birthday dessert at another table, never breaking into a smile even then. Other than that the staff was great. Watching a table being reset for another party with such precision and attention to detail was a joy to watch. I felt completely at home here and spent a relaxing 2 1/2 hours. The dining room was one of several in this converted mansion, each decorated differently. The one I was in was done in tones of light and dark purples, cream trim, dim wall sconces, and an oriental rug. Music was mostly classic instrumental jazz. Would I go back? If it was near me, living in a fine dining desert, absolutely, again and again. But Savannah has so many choices, time to try someplace different next time.

    Elizabeth is Savannah's classiest, tastiest, and best course menu option. Yes, you're paying for a dining "experience." When walking up to the restaurant you feel as if you're walking into someone's home. Hostesses and servers are all on the same page, dressed identically, and (also) carry themselves with class. Great wine menu. We tried the "middle" Cab and loved how it paired with the beef. Seven courses are well paced and intuitive regarding heavy, light, creamy, etc. Standouts include the Flounder and rice, tomato bisque, beef tenderloin, and cheesecake. We especially loved the beef's gravy. Wow. All patrons were quiet, respectful, and happy to be there. We look forward to our next Elizabeth dining experience.

    seven courses, and all of them are so delicious! my coworkers and i had such an amazing experience eating here. extremely high-quality food and service, with properly trained staff (plus a classy, traditional atmosphere). the lobster taco was spectacular, very tasty, and laid on a crispy parmesan shell. the mushroom soup was fresh and poured on top of sliced shiitake. both fish dishes were thoughtfully paired with great sides. the raspberry cheesecake was truly out of this world. pricey, but totally worth it for special occasions and get-togethers.

    Every thing was amazing, service, food and atmosphere!! It was an amazing experience we celebrated my son's 17th birthday. He wanted to eat at a fancy restaurant with good food which is exactly what he got!

    I lived in Savannah for three months and was able to try their amazing food during that time. Savannah is full of tourist type restaurants but this is not one. This is fine dining with table cloths etc inside an old Savannah Mansion I have since been back several times and always find their food and service to be outstanding. My son is a Culinary Institute of America graduate aka CIA in New sand a corporate Chef and this is his favorite restaurant in Savannah Winner of the James Beard award

    Lovely restaurant in a restored Victorian mansion. Parking was relatively easy on 37th street. 7 course tasting menu was a very good value. The portion sizes were bigger than what I'm used to for such a menu (but we did power through and finish dessert, cause that's how we roll). The assorted small tastes included a corn pancake with caviar, mussels in a roasted tomato sauce and a pimiento cheese tart. All were very tasty. The Georgia shrimp chowder was probably my favorite, not heavy at all. This was followed by a jumbo sea scallop which was heavenly. The salad course was, well a salad (I even forgot to take a picture, my recollection was that it was lovely) LOVED the potato crusted red snapper (my second favorite). The beef tenderloin was fine although I was getting quite full at this point, fortunately wasn't too big a portion. The raspberry chocolate torte was fabulous and as some of my dining companions were tapping out I got to have extra! Highly recommend. A little disappointed with the wine pairing though. Would order your own bottle(s) or one of their excellent cocktails. That's my game plan for the next time I go.

    Elizabeth's, in Savannah, only serves a fixe prix 6 course dinner with or without wine pairing. We were served by the owner, Gary Butch, who explains each course and wine in great detail and with great passion. All courses were delicious. The restaurant is in an old house which adds to the character of the meal. It's very reasonably priced in my opinion and a great place to have that special meal with friends and family. The butternut squash soup and the butter bean soup were creamy and very tasty. And the two fish options - the flounder with Gullah crab fried rice and the snapper with cauliflower and tomato butter were cooked to perfection.

    Came here for our 35th anniversary dinner since we had such an incredible experience here last year and it didn't disappoint! My husband and I agree it is probably the best restaurant experience either of us has ever had. Wonderful dining experience all the way around!

I'm absolutely glad I picked it. Walking in, we were greeted with smiles. The house/restaurant was stunning. It was quirky but still had its charm. We were escorted to our table, which was an odd little table halfway up the stairs, away from everyone. We were told that table was meant of anniversaries/intimate events. It felt awkward at first but it ended up being fun people watching and listening in to conversations as people walked by. Colton was our server. He was great. Extremely knowledgeable. He walked us through the menu, offered great suggestions on food and wine, did a proper wine service, and even properly pronounced the region in which the wine was from. Colton definitely made us feel special and gave us an incredible experience. I'll definitely give it to Common Thread. The knowledge in which every staff member presented was incredible. As every person dropped off an item at the table, they accurately described the dish in detail before they walked away. I've been in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years; serving, bartending, and managing numerous different types of restaurants, from casual to fine dining. I've opened up a few restaurants and have been a trainer as well. Common Thread is operating at a high level in terms of the staff's ability. The food: incredible. We started with one of each oyster, and it was insane how much flavor was packed in them. Our first course was also accompanied with the hand roll and the apple beet salad. The hand roll was fantastic. The beet salad felt like it needed some sort of acid/citrus with it, but still had great flavor. Course two was the mushroom cannelloni and the orecchiette. Both were phenomenal. My wife was obsessed with the cannelloni, the butternut squash puree was a perfect accompaniment. The pesto/parmesan foam on the orecchiette was an excellent touch. Course three we went against Colton's suggestion for the pork chop (almost got both, we were stuffed), and got the Ribeye. Great char, cooked perfectly. The peppercorn jus was an excellent topper for it. For dessert, we opted for the sticky toffee pudding. Although it wasn't sticky, the ginger pairing with it was an excellent touch. This is one of the best experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. This will be a staple for us whenever we're back in Savannah and will definitely be asking for Colton again. He is the kind of server I'd like to have at my restaurant. Props to Common Thread, props to Colton.

Without going into excessive detail about our extensive notes (because everything is subjective and I don't want this review to sound super negative), we found the dishes were fine-to-good . . . but not quite where we thought they should be given the vaunted reputation of the establishment. (I'll note that from the reviews here and the professional reviewer buzz, our take is a minority one.) One thing I'll say in favor of Common Thread: my wife ordered a dish with which she has a lot of experience and the version the restaurant served (while made of high quality ingredients) was not of the preparatory style that she was expecting. The server noted she did not eat it and simply took it off the tab - well and professionally done.

This place delivers! We had a 6:45 reservation, showed up right on time and were seated immediately. Benjamin introduced himself and helped us find some drinks that we loved, the Polaris and the Castor. After he went over the evening's specials, he helped guide us through our selections for the night. Having some un-inspired oysters earlier in the week, we decided to do two of each of the three oysters of the night. They were perfectly cold, deliciously briny and expertly shucked. We added just a drop of minuet juice but the oysters were so clean and crisp, we didn't want to cover up any of the fresh taste. The winter salad was simple but delicious. The lamb and chicken were both tender and perfectly seasoned. The Wagyu had an amazing crust that added texture to a simple slice of beef and the cornbread dressing with scallops was an original take on familiar flavors playing well off each other. We ended with a lovely olive oil lemon cake. You can feel the love in the ingredients, the presentation and the service at The Grey.

Both dishes were immaculately prepared and perfectly sized. We chose a bottle of Loss and Lehn, something we had never tried before but recommended based on what we had ordered. Not super friendly or chatty with us which missed the mark on Southern hospitality and made our experience feel cold compared to our previous dinner experiences in town. I don't fault her for it though as she did her job. We ordered an excessive amount of starters and some of the entrees. The stand outs for me was the crispy Brussels sprouts, roasted bone marrow, steamed mussels, and grilled octopus. Skip any of the bread options. They weren't even toasted. For entrees, we also decided to share them. The pork chop and NY strip were stand outs. We ended up sending back the halibut. It tasted mealy and freeze burnt. Skip the crispy Japanese eggplant. I was expecting a grilled dish and it was actually fried with a thick batter. Too heavy for my liking. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but not somewhere I am dying to go back to.
