Honestly, I'd heard mixed reviews from friends regarding Fishbar, but hubs and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and evening there. I recommend sitting at one of the counters (the bar or kitchen/cooking counter) if that's an option. It was fun watching them work in unison all the while using a wood burning stove. Service was stellar. We started with their Fish Dip and Puffed Frena Bread - both were a great beginning to our meal! We ordered and shared the Catch of the day and the shrimp to share. Both were devine and hubs ordered a second Puffed Frena Bread to sop up the sauce served with the shrimp. Yummy! The Chocolate Pots de crème was rich, decadent and very much enjoyed. We visited Fish Bar today as a family of four for the first time. The atmosphere was nice--dark lighting, intimate, and more on the romantic side. Our server was friendly and pleasant, although the overall service experience was pretty standard. Since it was our first visit, we were hoping for a little guidance through the menu--maybe a drink recommendation, a signature dish, or something we absolutely had to try. Nothing was suggested, so we ended up just sticking with water. I'll admit, with a name like Fish Bar, we expected a much larger selection of fish and seafood options. The menu was surprisingly small. We ordered the crudo, smoked fish dip, and calamari, choosing things we thought would also be safe options with our kids. Our server explained that the portions were more tapas-style, and they definitely were. For a family of four, the portions felt very small, and we were still hungry afterward. Unfortunately, nothing we tried made us want to order more. The flavors were okay, but overall we found the food pretty simple and plain, especially considering the price and portion sizes. We decided to close our tab and continue our evening somewhere else. It wasn't a terrible experience--the atmosphere was nice and everyone was friendly--but for us, the food simply didn't deliver enough in flavor, variety, or value to make us want to return. Fishbar has a strong concept on paper, but the execution doesn't quite land. The bread and tuna were standouts )easily the best parts of the meal) but the rest of the menu felt limited and a bit scattered, not fully aligned with what you expect walking in. Service was fine, nothing memorable. The environment is loud and high-energy to the point that it takes away from the experience, and the overall feel ends up more chaotic than curated. We booked seats at the chef's counter which gave us a front row seat to all the kitchen action. It's a quiet, well run kitchen with an expeditor that was poised, confident and calm. Shocking really considering how many meals they were cranking out while we were there. The food was delicious from the smoked trout dip, and the curried peanut shrimp to the striped sea bass. I made some adjustments in my reservation schedule just to eat a this place. From my understanding, it's a newer resteraunt and is really blowing up! The restaurant focuses around their seasonal menu which I love. I wanted to come here soley for the for the full red snapper. It did not disappoint me, eyeballs and all. The menu is made up of small plates that are perfect for sharing. My mother and I shared the tartare and scallop as appetizer. They were both unbelievable. The scallop featured a callabrian chili oil that provided the right amount of heat. The surpising standout of the meal was the cabbage that was grilled. Who knew cabbage could taste so good! Wow! Another absolutely stellar meal at Fishbar last evening. The creativity and pairing of unique and amazingly complimentary flavors sets this place apart from anything I've come across in Savannah, or many other major cities for that matter. We had a number of dishes on the menu and everyone of them was a 10. As was our amazing server Clay was with us from cocktails thru dinner. She was super attentive and knowledgable about all the ingredients in each dish and cocktail. As were the food runners. Who explained each dish, and their contents in detail as they delivered the plates. And I'd be remiss to not acknowledge the incredibly welcoming culture of every employee at Fishbar. As we walked back to the beautiful firepit adorned back patio for cocktails. Every team member we passed said, "welcome." The weight was so worth it! Everything about this restaurant is perfection! The staff the ambience, and of course the food! Our server Lily was amazing and she was very friendly and just perfect! For starters we had the oysters with all the toppings the were delicious! For my main dish I had the grilled rainbow trout which was cooked to perfection! My boyfriend had the snapper and it wasn't my cup of tea but I think that was because the head was still attached, I would highly recommend this restaurant but definitely get a reservation if you can! 10/10 stars! read more

This place is amazing !! My wife and I just went there for our 17th anniversary and they treated us like royalty. The food was outstanding, the service was impeccable and Emma (at the bar) went over and above. She was incredible, her recommendations were on point and she really took care of us. Take advice from the servers on what to order. And how many people it will feed? The dishes are consistently good but of varying sizes. So find out how big they are.First.That's it.We ordered about six items. The salad was excellent and the best of the meal was the trout. The sweet potatoes with the highlight of the sides the desserts were all good, but the consensus best was the tres leches. The only shortcoming was the wine list, which was very short and while fairly priced, we could have done with a better variety. What really makes it outstanding is the staff. Found this restaurant on an Instagram reel. Went in and sat at the bar. Three hours later, we left... full, happy and totally ready for our next trip to Fishbar!!! We had a wonderful evening at Fish Bar. We sat at the bar and Emma took amazing care of us. She was an absolute delight from start to finish. Cecelia also stopped by with thoughtful recommendations that we're so glad we took. We started with the oysters with fresno chile, the bread with crab butter, and the tuna crudo. Highly recommend ordering both the tuna crudo and the bread. The crab butter is incredible on its own, but dipping the bread into the sauce from the tuna crudo is next level. So good. We also tried the cabbage with sea urchin sauce, which was absolutely delicious. For dinner, we ordered the mussels and the scallop. Both were beautifully presented and just as delicious as they looked. For dessert, we had the miso chocolate torte and the flan. Both were fantastic, but the miso caramel ice cream truly stole the show. It is completely out of this world! I also tried the Agua de Gilda cocktail. I was slightly hesitant about the anchovy wash, but you genuinely would never know. It was light, refreshing, and easily a 10 out of 10. We can't wait to come back and hopefully grab a seat on the patio next time. It's such a cute space back there. Perfect place for a date night! Everything we ordered was fantastic! Including the mocktails! Our service was spot on and the waitress was very patient with the "hard of hearing " among our group. We sat at the Chef's bar which made it a smidge difficult to converse.,,BUT if you're like me& enjoy watching the kitchen staff then the bar is something you've gotta do at least once. They helped us through the whole menu with drinks and food and accommodated my gluten allergy with no problem. The food was absolutely divine, notable mention for the tartare. The manager Sasha checked in on us and was so kind and added on to a wonderful experience. We ended the night just wanting to hang here and enjoy the vibe as long as we could as opposed to going somewhere else. It is such a good vibe. Our group went there from out of town and it was our worst meal in Savannah. Food was not good and we ended up ordering pizza when we got back to our hotel as not one of us had good meal and we all left hungry. We told our server we were celebrating few birthdays that night and at end of meal she brought out lit candles on a seashell with NO DESSERT just candles and said our birthday wishes for you. To say we were all appalled is understatement as do not even bring out anything as why not at least do little whipped cream and fruit, but just some candles as have never experienced that in my life at any restaurant as in very poor taste. I was ready to give up and just succumb to the fact that my expectations were too high....and then Fishbar. It wasn't listed as one of the go-to restaurants. I only knew about it by word-of-mouth, but that is how I heard of everything else as well. I was nervous, but Fishbar was BY FAR the absolute best food and dining experience that we had on our entire trip. I recommend the oysters, yellowfin crudo, Georgia shrimp, calamari, and scallops. The drinks were also incredible. Finally! Something with interesting yet complementary flavors. The sear on our scallops was perfection... order one per guest. You will NOT want to share. And our server..... Sarah D. was our server and she was exceptional! She took her time to explain flavor profiles, listen to our preferences and make recommendations. We never felt rushed or neglected. She was amazing. All and all this was the most memorable experience that we had in all of our Savannah dining. It was very crowded when we arrived but the host sat us promptly. Very pretty space and the acoustics were good relative to the small space that was packed with people. Service was good but delivery of food and drinks needs work. Two in our group received drinks immediately, the other two waited quite awhile for theirs. Food was the same. I received my entree, the group encouraged me to eat so it didn't get cold...I was finished by the time their food arrived! Not good. This restaurant is still new so perhaps they are still working on timing. Every dish was delicious but the delays were awkward. We have visited twice and have absolutely loved everything. The first time we went we went with a group of friends so we were able to experience a bunch of different food options. We were seated at a table with great service. The restaurant was beautiful inside. The second time we went we sat at the bar overlooking the chefs and it was an amazing experience besides leaving and smelling like a fire. But that would not stop us from going back. We came here to the fishbar as a part of our honeymoon. We had wanted special treatment, and they delivered. Champagne toast to start, followed by a complimentary vegetable plate, they treated us with kindness and respect. Marley was the chef staffed close to us at the chefs counter and it was very entertaining, not wanting to interrupt, we mostly stayed silent as observers, watching as she plated with efficiency and precision for beautiful dishes. Nonetheless, when we did speak she was very kind and made us feel very welcome. Cassandra as our server was phenomenal and never left us with an empty glass or a need for more, we felt so satisfied by the end of the meal and very grateful for the experience. Would strongly recommend any seafood lovers to go here as the food is a perfect accompaniment to such an amazing atmosphere and staff.
