We went here on the fourth of July and the stars must have been aligned, because even though it was 6 pm we got a table! They were packed but service was spectacular! Our food was wonderful, we are still talking about the large dollop of shrimp and crab salad on top of the fried green tomatoes. We also had the burger with fries, tasty! When you can walk into a restaurant on River Street and be seated right away is good in my book especially with a wheelchair. I didn't care for the flavor of the blackened shrimp by itself but mixed in the Alfredo sauce it tasted pretty good. Now I heard the fried grits inside the shrimp and grits were delicious. I was excited to try this place because it was right on River St and there was a sign displaying ALL DAY well margs for $5. When we asked about this special, the server denied this special as he was "the source." We thought we read the sign wrong and ordered beers instead, but when we left, we took another look at the sign, and it was an all day special, not separate for happy hour. The blackened shrimp on the Savannah salad is a great meal and keeps the bill lower than many. Peel-and-eat shrimp (dinner portion) is a MEAL and don't you forget that to-go box. The seafood Alfredo was a TON of food and even an older teenage boy could not finish it. As for ambiance, sit outside for sure--inside is for short people only and the bathroom is large enough for a ten year old, not anyone much older or larger. The staff attitude was courteous and on-it but clearly they cater to quick touristy diners, not seasoned locals who return for the food. The bar was out of ciders but the Pirate Punch was delicious. We ate our meal, which I would say was average and then sat and sat and sat and sat more for no server to come to us. We waved at several servers, but none arrived . My family got up and left. I stood up in the front door and explain that I was leaving multiple times and needed to pay my bill but could not. Again, I sat and sat and sat. I then stood in front of the front door to pay my bill. Once I got someone, the guy took my credit card and continued to clean tables as I explained I was leaving. I had to follow him to cash me out. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, and while strolling down Historic River Street, we decided to stop for a quick bite to eat. Since we had our pup with us, we were limited to restaurants with outdoor seating, so we chose Dockside Seafood. The reviews were a tad shaky, so we were not sure what to expect. We were seated immediately, and our dog Coco was welcomed as well. The waitress was friendly and attentive. When she came out with our water, she also brought a bowl out for my Coco . The restaurant seemed to be full both inside and outside. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restroom. Service was good and pretty fast. We ordered drinks, my husband had a Margarita, and I had a Purple Haze. Both were awful. We should have just ordered juice. His New Orleans Shrimp Po Boy was filled with shrimp and was quite tasty. The fries that came with the meal were ok. My crab stuffed mushrooms were underwhelming, I expected much better since we were in Savannah. My Caesar Salad was drenched in salad dressing that tasted store bought. It's definitely my fault for forgetting to ask for the dressing on the side. Let me start by saying the Shrimp Po Boy may be the best iv ever had in my life. Everything about it was perfect. Bun, shrimp, and sauce . We also had the seafood boil, crawfish, and stuffed mushrooms. All was very good. Only downside was the fries. I would suggest you go with any other side. Cause the fries were trash. Once we got inside the service was fast and solid. Waiting to get someone to acknowledge us outside took a while but again they were very good once seated. Inside was a good hang out spot. I love the old building vibe. The service was mediocre at best. I didn't get my beer until the end of my meal once I looked to see if it was on my receipt. We ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and they were dryyyy. They needed an aioli sauce or some binding garlic butter to fuse the cheese and flavors. We also ordered fried green tomatoes which seemed previously frozen. They weren't bad though. I ordered Mussels and the wine sauce tasted bland and just like wine and water. My partner ordered catfish dinner and at one point she questioned if it was really catfish. It was!!! The chowder was actually very tasty though. Many people were getting orders to go so I'm going to say this place is doing something right... Don't let my review stop you from trying it out for yourself. Great food, great service & great view! We enjoyed eating outside and watching the sunset.

Hubby and I went for our wedding anniversary and we had a great time. I had the blackened Mai Mai Savannah and it was the best I've ever had. Hubby had the surf and turf and he enjoyed it very much. Our server Kaitelyn was the best. She is very friendly and professional. We Will definitely be going back and hope to have Kaitelyn again. The whole time there the manager and bar maid were loud, obnoxious, and constantly using vulgar language. I'm not one to complain because I understand being wait staff is not the easiest of jobs however, after seeing people place orders and receive their food, even though we were in the restaurant before them, and had placed our order before everyone as well we still were without food finally spoke up to be told that, the printer had run out of paper and our order was not put in when it should've been. Lots of apologies and I understand how that can happen but after waiting 15 minutes to try and get our weight staff to take payment I've finally got up and went over myself. I love the location on the waterfront in that historic building - built in 1791. The service was not great. They brought out wrong drinks, no silverware or napkins. But the worst part was the food we got. Our kids were happy with their kids meals - hard to mess up fries and chicken fingers. But my blackened catfish poboy was so bad. The flavor of the blackened seasoning tasted like dirt. The shrimp po boy sandwich bread was totally burnt. The food was amazing, I ordered the seafood Alfredo which was blackened shrimp in fettuccine Alfredo and it was amazing, but warning the shrimp come tails on. The look of the inside was very cool, it had an old pub type of vibe. My father recommends the pirates punch. Our server's name was Greyson he was very nice and despite the place being packed he was on top of everything bringing out our food and drinks at a very reasonable time and he gave us some tips on great things to do in Savannah. Came to Savannah last minute just to get away for the weekend. Arrived into town late (8:30pm), checked in to the Marriott and went for a quick stroll to find a bite to eat. Dockside is right down from our hotel so, I figured it would be an easy walk back and forth. When we approached the place, there were two young ladies outside whom I took for "hostess". One (long blonde hair) looked less than thrilled to be there and the other was very kind and inviting. There were patrons ahead of us inquiring about a table and I over heard the kind girl say "you can sit at the bar but we are no longer seating anyone". Once those patrons left I stepped up and inquired if they knew of anywhere else that we could walk to grab a bite to eat as I knew it was super late, it's a holiday weekend (packed), and dining places were closing down. They recommend a second location further down (Fiddlers) or the bar seating. Totally fine with me. I then asked if I could order something to go. The grumpy girl didn't even look at me and said "they don't really do that". She seemed very annoyed that I bothered to even ask. I went inside to check out the bar seating and as I approached the bar, a very welcoming, short haired, older waitress asked if she could help me. I said "well, they aren't seating anyone else so I was going to see if I can get food at the bar or even see about getting it to go". She promptly asked us to sit (at an open booth) took our TO GO order, seated us at a high top to wait on it, grabbed us drinks and chatted with us for a second. It was a delightful experience to be "served" by her ! She makes me want to return (if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't ever come back) !!!! Even though she didn't really have to "do" much for us, I tipped her 25% since she didn't have to help us, but kindly did so even though it was evident that everyone was ready to go home.... Never forget that you're in a service industry, and it doesn't hurt to be willing to serve. Sometimes it even PAYS. Now, to the food. I ordered the shrimp and grits, a black and blue burger, and key lime pie. I decided on the shrimp and grits after seeing another review that claimed they were the "best I've ever had in my life"- well, I figured either that person was right or they hadn't ever eaten good food. Either way, I was willing to chance it ! It was a good choice ! Thanks fellow reviewer person your recommendation was a decent one ! My husband also enjoyed his burger. The fries were SO good and the key lime pie as well. I read that they make the key lime pie fresh. So that's always a nice touch. Anyway, over all it was a somewhat decent experience once I got past the hostess station and into the restaurant where a nice person ran into us. The only other "remark" that I can make about this place is that while we were seated at the high top near the bar, we had a very open view of the wait staff walking back and forth.... They were all getting drinks and openly drinking while on shift. Not sure how the management feels about that kind of behavior but my husband and I were somewhat appalled. Over all, not impressed with the staff either with the exception of ONE person there. But, the food was decent once we got back to the room. So, if you're into mildly poor experiences but half way decent food, this place is a great option for you ! If you prefer a more well rounded experience with sober wait staff.... We found this restaurant when walking on the boardwalk during our visit to Savannah. We were seated outside due to social distancing during covid. Our server offered us hand sanitizer. I ordered the shrimp and grits and was so pleased with what I got: the shrimp were cooked perfect and were infused in the most delicious and creamy white wine sauce. During our trip I had shrimp and grits at 3 restaurants, including a very fancy one in the historic district, and this dish was by far, the best dish I had in Savannah. Personally, I wouldn't have minded eating a meal here but my vegetarian boyfriend tends to be wary of seafood restaurants as they rarely have decent options for him. Instead, we ended up grabbing a drink while we explored the riverfront. We chose to sit outside on the covered patio that overlooks the water. Since it was the end of February and chilly, I chose the one table at the end that had a bit of sunshine to warm me up. I imagine the shaded patio is a huge plus during the warmer months though. We were impressed with the cocktail prices. At under $8 a drink, they were much cheaper than cocktails back home in San Diego, where it's not uncommon to see cocktails in the $12 to $15 range. I chose the Bob Marley, which had rum, banana liqueur, triple sec, pineapple juice and orange juice, and it was a taste of tropical paradise! My favorite part was the offer of a to-go cup! I'm a sipper and it takes me awhile to finish a drink. If I were to base this review on facility and location it would get 5 stars. The building, which was built in 1792, still has the original joists and support beams. If you are paying attention and care about stuff like that then you'll enjoy it. I thought it was pretty awesome! The food and service left a lot to be desired. My wife and I both got the blackened catfish po boys. I thought mine was bland but my wife enjoyed hers. My daughter got the kids cheese burger and it was pretty big so that was a plus. Food wasn't over priced and based on the history alone I would recommend it. read more
