As soon as we walked through the door, karaoke night was in full swing. There was a DJ, several talented performers, and a crowd that was enjoying themselves. The entertainment was classy, fun, and added a special touch to our dining experience. For dinner, I ordered Dungeness crab legs with corn and additional sides, all covered in their mild Cajun sauce. The food was fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. The seasoning was just right--enough flavor to enjoy without overpowering the natural taste of the seafood. My wife ordered corn and vegetables and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. Everything was prepared well and served hot and fresh. Our waitress provided excellent service throughout the evening. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Between the great food, outstanding service, and enjoyable entertainment, Crab Du Jour became one of the highlights of our Savannah trip. Then we noticed two employees sitting by the bar, chatting amongst themselves. They made eye contact with us MULTIPLE times and still couldn't be bothered to get up, acknowledge us, or even offer a simple greeting. We waited patiently, giving them every opportunity to do the bare minimum expected of someone working in customer service. Nothing. When we finally decided to leave, one of the female employees SLOWLY began making her way toward the front, as though acknowledging potential paying customers was some enormous inconvenience. Let me be clear: you cannot run a successful business when your employees act like customers are an interruption rather than the reason they have a job. We weren't asking for anything special. We expected the absolute basics: a greeting, acknowledgment, and the courtesy of being seated or helped. Apparently, even that was too much to ask. What makes this especially disappointing is that we came in WANTING to spend our money here. You had customers who were excited to try your food, and you managed to lose them before we even saw a menu. That takes a special level of indifference. Those positive reviews are what brought us through your doors, but this experience is what we will remember and share with others. Management seriously needs to take a look at who they have representing this business, because if this is the standard of service you provide during a quiet lunch hour, I can only imagine what customers experience when it's actually busy. We took our money elsewhere, and we will not be back. Good food might bring people through the door, but terrible service will make sure they never return.
