Stopped in for an early dinner and it was a fine spot. We got seated at a table then went up to the counter to order which was a little odd! I got the peel and eat shrimp which were seasoned nicely but a little mushy and overcooked. We also split the hush puppies (again, slightly undercooked and pale/mushy inside) but the fried shrimp was good. It was decently busy while we were there! The one woman working the counter was attentive and brought our food out quickly, but I imagine there's better seafood spots to hit downtown.
The setting feels relaxed and highly welcoming. Staff members are notably friendly, and the food is excellent. We tried the clam chowder, crab pie, and fried clam strips, all seasoned to perfection. We will certainly return.
The seafood was very fresh. We went for lunch and weren't that hungry so we didn't order as much as we wanted to. Out of everything we tried, my husband's favorite was the corn. It was so good that we ended up ordering an extra side. Since it was lunchtime, it wasn't very crowded. We actually tried coming the night before around 7:30 pm but it was quite busy and we had to catch a 9 pm movie, so we didn't want to wait. The service was good, and all the staff were friendly. They explained how the ordering process worked once we were seated. The space was nice and the tables weren't too cramped together.
Loved our lunch. I will say as good as it was, I'm giving it 4 stars because I think the prices are high for order at a counter meals.
We opted for fried fish here for lunch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. My wife loved her shrimp tacos, and my fried fish cone was unique, yet very delicious. There was a large amount of fish in my cone. It was very filling on its own. The coleslaw inside was spicy (had some tumeric flavors) and really counterbalanced nicely with the sweetness of the cone and the tanginess of the shack sauce. The location is casual and relaxed but clean and inviting. Many other diners were eating the low country boil or other fried fish. I highly recommend this for seafood while in Savannah.

The prices have gone up and portions down. Not only that, but the quality of the ingredients seems to have gone down too. We did the Shack Attack and split it as we always have-- it seems like they're taking the scallops to a mandolin and slicing them into strips. Every scallop in our basket was about the thickness of a quarter. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Super tasty quick lunch while shopping in the historic district. Perhaps a tad on the top end price-wise but the portions are plentiful. Seafood was fresh and the smoked sausage was top tier. Our itinerary had a short window to eat and the fast casual service setup ensured we were able to make our meetup. Will definitely stop in again when in Savannah.
Craving seafood? This is the place! They've been recognized in multiple channels like food network, so definitely take their word for it. My friend and I were lucky to not have a long wait. Once you get sat and decide what to order, you go to the counter to order. We went ahead and ordered the fried shrimp po'boy with sweet potato fries and crawfish steamed boil. The total came out to be around $40 with tip of course. The po'boy and fries were so flavorful; the seasoning was all there and so fresh. The crawfish was good too. It comes with potatoes and 2 corn on the cobs, but it was hard to get the meat out of the tail (I've been told that means it's not as fresh as it should be). But the seasoning was also there, and brought everything together perfectly! Service was good too, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. Definitely worth the try!!
Great food and fast service! Got the hush puppies, calamari cone and seafood boil with everything and added sausage. Food was absolutely incredible and tons of flavor, just wish the food came out hot or at least warmer. Love that the cone was sweet. Would recommend!
Just a few doors down from Leopold's Ice Cream, this is the perfect spot for a low country boil. Packed with shrimp, beef sausage, potatoes and two pieces of corn on the cob. It's dripping with buttery spices but I he lemon pepper and Cajun seasonings are both pretty light. You can add cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and hot sauce and I'm sure you can request extra seasoning. It's a filling meal with just enough room for Leopold's to follow.
This restaurant is brilliant! You are seated, but when you are ready, you go to the counter to order. Fountain drinks so you get at many refills as you wish. Food is steamed or fried. They offer gloves and bibs. My family of 6 was able to eat a variety. Staff were efficient and quick! Clean and easy and very tasty.

As others have noted, Savannah Seafood Shack is a small restaurant with limited seating. However, the service and the food was top notch. So you're supposed to wait to be seated (to get a table number), then go up and order and they bring your food to your table. When I arrived, there was nobody at the maitre'd stand so I just got in line like the other two parties ahead of me. I quickly figured things out and made my order of the fried Fish and Shrimp platter with cajun fries. I just came from the gym so I was pretty hungry. The food came out piping hot and it was simply delicious. The food was fried/cooked perfectly with no excess oil. Portion wise, I feel that I got good value for my money. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try but I guess I'll have to visit again! read more

Made a short trip to Savannah with some out of state family and the first thing they wanted was some seafood. This place came highly recommended on yelp so we stopped in. The vibe was very cool. The nets on the ceilings, the murals, the subway tile...I really liked it. It was pretty empty when we go there so our party of 7 was seated right away. We were given menus and told to go up to the front to order. Hawk took our order and they were super awesome. Very knowledgable and helpful. I got an oyster po boy with sweet potato fries, my mom and aunt got shrimp salads, my brother and sister got the shrimp tacos, and we got hush puppies, calamari, and a couple of clam chowders to share. (My little cousin got chocolate cake for lunch. That's it. The perks of traveling with your grandparents! LOL) Several of us also got adult beverages...they had a decent selection to chose from. My po boy was really good and the sweet potato fries were excellent. The shrimp salads and tacos were enjoyed as well. The hush puppies and the BUTTER were amazing! I thought the calamari was just a little tough (but not the worst) and the clam chowder was thin...more of a soup. Overall we highly enjoyed our meal and would recommend this place if you would like some fried seafood! read more

I visited Savannah Seafood Shack back in December 2024. This was a great find on Google & Yelp, I trusted the reviews. I called my order in with no issues, great customer service. Keep in mind they are located in a downtown busy area. Parking is gonna be hard to find, I parked for a few minutes on the side of street. They do have alot of seating inside the restaurant. All the food was yummy, seasoned well and good portion sized. I ordered the low country seafood boil. I will most definitely will return and hopefully eat inside next time. read more

Absolutely delicious!! I was visiting Savannah for the weekend and stopped in for lunch. I split a seafood boil with crab legs and shrimp with my husband. The portion was a bit small for two people and they charge extra for deveined shrimp. Otherwise it was well seasoned and delicious! The jalapeño crab poppers were the best part though - I wish we got two orders! It was pretty busy in a Saturday afternoon around lunch time but we were quickly given a table - turnover of tables seemed quick and you order from the counter. We wanted some fresh seafood and chose this location to try. You get seated and go order at the counter. My friends and I decided to share two of The Love Shake, which included a variety of seafood. It was delicious. Everything tasted so fresh. I just wish there were more seasoning options. It was delicious, but I love a good seafood that is cover in multiples spices. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would come back again. Please add raw oysters in your menu! read more

Savannah Seafood Shack gave me a great first impression of a Lowcountry Boil. Tender and delicious. Just the right amount of spice. Didn't love the sweet cinnamon-y sauce that was served with the Hush Puppies, but they still tasted great. Atmosphere is casual; we went here for lunch. Service is good. Would recommend! read more
We were recommended this place as a "very good local seafood casual dining" restaurant. It's super casual (order at the front counter amd they bring your food to your table) but everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. My wife had the Shrimp Po' Boy (Buffalo Style) w/Calum Fries as her side. I had the Fried Clam Strips (Buffalo Sauce on the side) w/Cole Slaw. Both were great! Definitely recommend the Buffalo Style if U like a little spice on your fried seafood. And the fries and cole slaw were very good! The Crab/Shrimp Boil looked amazing but we didn't have a lot of time and it looked like a lot more work. So we will get next time. They had a decent Beer selection and fountain drinks. The Manager went around to ask how everyone's meal was and wait staff was very friendly! We really could not ask for more. 5 stars! read more

This was my first time here and a friend of mine loves this place and wanted to eat here while we were in town. She loves the shrimp tacos and that's what she got, but I decided to get the fried calamari cone and a side of potato salad with a nice cold beer and it was perfect. I do not even generally like potato salad nor do I like coleslaw but I knew the cone had coleslaw in it so I risked it anyway and figured out what the heck and the risk was worth it! Both were really delicious. The coleslaw was mostly at the bottom of the cone and I do wish it would've been spread throughout a little bit better but still it was really really good with the calamari and the waffle cone itself was edible and very tasty. My total was only $20.87 and I don't think that's bad at all for a touristy area with great flavorful food. We were on foot so we didn't have to worry about parking or anything and our wait time was less than 10 minutes in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. Staff was really great and made sure we had everything we needed while we sat outside on the sidewalk seating area. I would definitely return. I need to try another fried cone now! read more

Craving some fried shrimp and came to Savannah Seafood Shack for a fix. Casual dining, you're seated and then walk up to the counter to place your order. We got two shrimp combos, one with fries and one with hush puppies. The hushpuppies were sooooooooo good! The sauce that comes with it tasted almost like a honey butter. I would come back just for a large order of hushpuppies. read more
Came to Savannah for a trip and of course had to start out with some fresh seafood. This place felt like a gem to find and I was relieved that my experience here was great! When you walk in, you're told your table number or get seated with the menus then walk to the counter to order and it'll be brought out to the table. We started with the hushpuppies which were probable the best I've ever had. It was fried perfectly, a little sweet, and had corn in it which is all I want in a hushpuppy. Also, the butter was super good! I got the fried calamari with corn and I loved how it was fried because it didn't make it super oily and the calamari tasted fresh. The corn tasted amazing and very buttery but I wish it was hotter as it was a bit cold. My boyfriend got the low country boil so I tried the crawfish and it was definitely the best crawfish I've ever had with the butter dip. read more

Both were very average. The boil lacked any real flavour and the shrimp was extremely difficult to peel - don't think it was good quality. Wouldn't be in a rush to come back here. read more

My wife and I were visiting Savanna for the first time and not feeling the seafood we tried. That was till we tried this basic looking yet clean surprise. My wife and I each got a bowl clam chowder and both of us enjoyed it. My wife got the fish tacos for her entree. She said it was a tad spicy but tasty and filling. I opted for the Shrimp Boil and enjoyed every bite of it. Sadly it was such a large portion i was unable to finish it. Let me give you a heads up its very spicy which was good for me but not for everyone. After the meal I asked the manager how can I order it less spicy and she said order spice on the side. The meal was half what I spent at other restaurants and enjoyed the most. read more

Savanna Seafood Shack was like a casual fast food, but it didn't taste like it at all. I tried the seafood boil, three fried fish tacos, and a side of hush puppies. Everything was fresh and packed with flavor. Addic and Carly were super helpful and really attentive. read more

Is there outdoor seating for people with dogs?
Yes, when we were there they had two small tables outside for two people each. Two people were eating outside with their dogs and one of the workers even brought out a water bowl for the dog.
Is this a sit-down restaurant with servers or just a place to get take-out?
Sit-down, but pretty much no service. You stand in line to order at the counter, find a place to sit (or they might help you find a place to sit), and someone will bring your food to you. Think of Panera Bread.
