I make this for every party we host and it's always a big hit. He had the fish sandwich with Wasabi coleslaw. The fish portion stuck out of both sides of the bun. He really liked the coleslaw and anything above like from him is a big compliment. I had the shrimp tacos with a vegetable medley, expecting the latter to be blah. This has quickly become my go-to seafood spot, and for good reason--the food is just consistently that good. It does get busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait at peak times, and the outdoor seating is pretty straightforward (right along the sidewalk), but don't let that deter you. Once the food hits the table, none of that really matters. The tuna tower appetizer is absolutely the way to start. That said, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything I've had has been flavorful, well-prepared, and clearly made with quality ingredients. And do not skip the drinks, specifically the pear margarita. Get one... or just go ahead and get two. Absolutely incredible lunch today. The outside area is huge and most of the spots have shade. We brought our pup and the staff was very quick with the dog bowl full of water which was nice. There were a few dogs and the area is so large that they can be spaced apart from each other. My wife and I got a few apps and the Mac and cheese. Tuna tower was great, loaded with raw tuna, very crispy wanton, just awesome. For the tuna bites I was expecting it to be 5 or 6 but it was at least 15 bites and a decent size salad under it - it could easily be an entree for some. My wife, a big fan of crab cakes in general, said these were the best shes had in Savannah since we moved here 2 years ago - very high praise! I stopped into Castaways for a Sunday lunch and hands down I was super impressed. I have noticed this place for years and finally got the chance to check it out. It's a very small spot, with a nice indoor/outdoor setting. It gives beachy vibe, yet in the middle of the city. Everything was so delicious and the drinks were smooth and strong. My husband and I have been regulars at Castaways, at minimum of once a month for over a year now, and this past experience makes us not want to return. We ordered the Island Jerk Mahi Mahi sandwich, which we've ordered countless times before and know exactly how it should be served. What came out was the smallest piece of Mahi Mahi we've ever seen. The tomato, lettuce, and onion, were all bigger than the piece of fish. When we said something to our waitress, who we don't know her name, on our receipt it just says "Bar B", she goes "that's typically the size of Mahi Mahi".... We've ordered this sandwich several times before. It's NOT and the fact that she didn't do a single thing to help remedy it is absurd. If that's how small you're serving your $20 fish sandwiches, then you shouldn't be serving them at all. We've had fantastic experiences prior which has made us regulars, but unfortunately after this experience, we won't be back. Our waitress was a female with longer brown hair. What's even more disappointing is that Megan also knows we're regulars and saw this conversation go down and didn't say anything either. The restaurant was difficult to find because it was between 2 of the shopping center buildings (look for the gap between the buildings). Comfortable atmosphere that instantly relaxed us. It took a while for the waiter to initially come to our table, but all of the service after that was excellent. The restaurant was full of locals which is important to me because I don't want to eat anywhere that the locals won't return to. The food was unexpectedly delicious. My favorite is the Key West Rock Fish special. A flaky filet over asparagus and the most flavorful potatoes you'll ever taste. It's a must try! If you're craving something heartier, the Rasta Pasta is another standout. It's a the perfect bit of spicy and loaded with fresh yummy shrimp. For starters, you can't go wrong with the blue cheese chips if they have them or the tuna tower. Both taste as good as they look. And don't forget the drinks! The pear martini is a personal favorite. We were seated right away and had our drinks ordered. We started with the calamari with a delicious aioli and chimichuri sauce over dish. Everyone enjoyed the appetizer. I got the fish and chips. We found Castaways from a YouTube search of the best burger in Savannah. After a 5 hour drive from NC, this was our first stop. We sat at the bar because the restaurant was completely empty. We were greeted by two friendly bartenders. We both ordered the burger and according to the YouTube recommendation, my boyfriend was after the house made aioli sauce.
