So cute and spotless!!!

Darling little romantic spot at night. Food and service was terrific. The desserts are homemade and look amazing but I was to full to indulge nice addition to the area and very reasonably priced! Seems like they have really great specials and change them up regularly! Ask for Chloe!

Low lighting and cool jazz!

Try this place for dinner! Best kept secret ! Different chef at night, terrific menu, cool jazz in the background- tablecloths! Additions to the menu nightly. Try the shrimp & grits. I had lamb chops one night- wonderful!

There incredible Bacon Cheese Mushroom burger--YUM!

Why am I a fan? JUST the best, juiciest, BIGGEST homemade hamburger in town! Went there for breakfast a few weeks back with a friend--it was late morning, and as we walked in someone's burger plate was put up on the bar--it looked so damned good I had to try it. Big, toasted, sesame-seed bun with a large, juicy handmade beefy burger, plenty of fresh tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onions--cut it in half, it's the only way to get it into your mouth--had to be at least half a pound! For less than seven bucks, it's an amazing deal! Comes with loads of crispy fries or you can get chips or coleslaw. I was totally impressed! Went back later with my son--he got the jalapeño burger loaded with Jack cheese and plenty of peppers--he loved it! I had the fried tilapia sandwich--two tasty, delicately fried filets loaded onto a toasted bun, with delicious coleslaw on the side---low price, great flavor--not to be missed! Back AGAIN, with hubby and daughter, for the bacon-mushroom-swiss burger--mouth-wateringly delicious!!! Seriously amazing burgers here, folks! They also serve dinner: meats are $3, each vegie is $1, but no rolls or biscuits, and, for my taste, too many starches and fried items, but the pork chops were big and tasty. The first time I went, I could see my friend's pork chop breakfast looked good, and she loves the breakfasts there--very picky lady, so take her word for it! This is a simple American diner with delicious everyday type dishes at fantastic prices, pleasant waitstaff, clean, well-lit by a big picture window. For me, lunch is their strong suit, but I have been told by good friends that their breakfasts are to-die-for---stay tuned, as I intend to find out later! Ok, here's the dinner update: not bad, not great, but good for the money. No roll or muffin or biscuit and the Texas Toast I ordered was grilled without butter. Out of a couple of menu items at OPENING TIME--not good. My final observation: Skip dinner, go for the MAGNIFICENT BURGERS! or the tasty breakfasts and be glad you were there!

It…read morewas difficult to pick a restaurant to have dinner at, because there's so many great choices in Savannah, but seeing that the minds behind Common Thread were recently semifinalists for Best Chef SE through the James Beard Awards, it ended up being my choice. I'm absolutely glad I picked it. Walking in, we were greeted with smiles. The house/restaurant was stunning. It was quirky but still had its charm. We were escorted to our table, which was an odd little table halfway up the stairs, away from everyone. We were told that table was meant of anniversaries/intimate events. It felt awkward at first but it ended up being fun people watching and listening in to conversations as people walked by. Colton was our server. He was great. Extremely knowledgeable. He walked us through the menu, offered great suggestions on food and wine, did a proper wine service, and even properly pronounced the region in which the wine was from. Colton definitely made us feel special and gave us an incredible experience. I'll definitely give it to Common Thread. The knowledge in which every staff member presented was incredible. As every person dropped off an item at the table, they accurately described the dish in detail before they walked away. I've been in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years; serving, bartending, and managing numerous different types of restaurants, from casual to fine dining. I've opened up a few restaurants and have been a trainer as well. Common Thread is operating at a high level in terms of the staff's ability. The food: incredible. We started with one of each oyster, and it was insane how much flavor was packed in them. Our first course was also accompanied with the hand roll and the apple beet salad. The hand roll was fantastic. The beet salad felt like it needed some sort of acid/citrus with it, but still had great flavor. Course two was the mushroom cannelloni and the orecchiette. Both were phenomenal. My wife was obsessed with the cannelloni, the butternut squash puree was a perfect accompaniment. The pesto/parmesan foam on the orecchiette was an excellent touch. Course three we went against Colton's suggestion for the pork chop (almost got both, we were stuffed), and got the Ribeye. Great char, cooked perfectly. The peppercorn jus was an excellent topper for it. For dessert, we opted for the sticky toffee pudding. Although it wasn't sticky, the ginger pairing with it was an excellent touch. This is one of the best experiences we've ever had at a restaurant. This will be a staple for us whenever we're back in Savannah and will definitely be asking for Colton again. He is the kind of server I'd like to have at my restaurant. Props to Common Thread, props to Colton.

Pretty place with lovely eating spaces and interesting food, but didn't quite hit the mark for us…read more Honestly, we felt the restaurant was somewhat more taken with itself than the experience warranted. Without going into excessive detail about our extensive notes (because everything is subjective and I don't want this review to sound super negative), we found the dishes were fine-to-good . . . but not quite where we thought they should be given the vaunted reputation of the establishment. (I'll note that from the reviews here and the professional reviewer buzz, our take is a minority one.) One thing I'll say in favor of Common Thread: my wife ordered a dish with which she has a lot of experience and the version the restaurant served (while made of high quality ingredients) was not of the preparatory style that she was expecting. The server noted she did not eat it and simply took it off the tab - well and professionally done.

The greeting from our arrival to seating was prompt and very courteous. We got suggestions from the wait staff and started our experience. They have an extensive cocktail and wine list. We started with a drink called Southern Hospitality and their branded Old Fashioned. Both drinks were exceptional. We accompanied that with Grilled Octopus, which was sensational. Very hard not to make it chewy. Great char and sauce that accompanied it. For entrees, we did the Perloo, an amazing interpretation, and a swordfish. Both dishes were immaculately prepared and perfectly sized. We chose a bottle of Loss and Lehn, something we had never tried before but recommended based on what we had ordered. It matched perfectly with both dishes. We also choose items from the pick 3 menu to accompany our entrees. We finished with the best bread Pudding we have ever had nd french press coffee. The price was very reasonable considering the quality and the service, and should not be missed next time you are in Savanah.

Both dishes were very well prepared and felt thoughtfully put together without trying too hard. The fish on both plates was cooked correctly, portions were solid, and flavors worked well together. With my wife's gluten and dairy allergy, plus my tree nut allergy, Alpha-Gal, and diabetes, we're usually a decent stress test for a kitchen. Staff handled questions professionally and didn't make ordering feel complicated. Atmosphere strikes a nice balance--upscale enough for a date night or business dinner, but still relaxed and comfortable. Service was attentive without hovering. Good for: dates, business meals Probably not ideal for: small children

This place delivers! We had a 6:45 reservation, showed up right on time and were seated immediately. Benjamin introduced himself and helped us find some drinks that we loved, the Polaris and the Castor. After he went over the evening's specials, he helped guide us through our selections for the night. Having some un-inspired oysters earlier in the week, we decided to do two of each of the three oysters of the night. They were perfectly cold, deliciously briny and expertly shucked. We added just a drop of minuet juice but the oysters were so clean and crisp, we didn't want to cover up any of the fresh taste. The winter salad was simple but delicious. The lamb and chicken were both tender and perfectly seasoned. The Wagyu had an amazing crust that added texture to a simple slice of beef and the cornbread dressing with scallops was an original take on familiar flavors playing well off each other. We ended with a lovely olive oil lemon cake. You can feel the love in the ingredients, the presentation and the service at The Grey.

However, when a second one emerged from the hallway, my confidence that this was just a one-off incident tanked. By the time our food arrived, our focus had been diverted to be on roach alert. Unfortunately, the food also missed the mark--overly salty and bland at the same time. None of this aligns with The Public I know and love, so I am really hoping this was just an off night. We were sat in what I believe used to be a front parlour, by a window over looking the street. We had a dual service with one person being the "main" server, his name was Michael. He was in charge of giving us the spiel and answering our questions. A woman (I forget her name, sorry! But she was lovely) was in charge of running the food and clearing the plates. It was a very well run machine. The menu is pre set, but there were choices on some of the courses, like course where an option was a soft shelled crab - I definitely wanted to take advantage of that! We started off with Biscuits with butter and homemade orange marmalade, these were delightful, so fluffy and soft, and the marmalade was sweet, not bitter like it sometimes can be. The Amuse bouche was a trio of tiny items: a pimento cheese tart, a mussel with chipotle sauce and panko, and a square of salmon with mild wasabi and ginger. The salmon was definitely my favorite. The fifth course had a special as I noted before, so I opted to go for that, it was a soft shell crab with garlic, herbs and a vidalia onion slaw. Topped with peanuts and a white wine sauce. I think my favorite course of them all was the scallops with the carrots and the whipped ricotta - so simple but so delicious! Phenomenal special occasion place or just to cross off your bucket list. If I am in Savannah again (and the likelihood is high, its such an amazing city), I will be back.
