From the ambiance and eclectic decor to the incredible food and wonderful service, Cohen's Retreat is not to be missed!

Salmon seasoned well and cooked perfectly.

They don't have a calorie count menu. The Ratatouille could've been more tender. Veggies a little too tough and under seasoned. The Pork loin was cold and under seasoned. Rack of Lamb was cold but seasoned well. Greens could have been a little more seasoned. The Fried Green Tomatoes, Salmon, Shrimp Pasta all were Hits!!! The atmosphere and the ambiance of the venue is amazing. Our server Donte' was PERFECTION!!! We went on Thursday so there was live music that was great and we didn't have to wait at all for a table.

This was the cutest brunch spot I've been to in a long time. I feel like many people drive by here and have no idea what's on the inside, or that what's on the inside is open to the public. We walked in and a live band was playing music. Come on ambiance! We started our time here with brunch and had the most delicious meals. The chicken biscuit with gravy was so crispy and tender and the way the sweetness of the tomato jam complemented the savory flavor of the gravy was mouth watering. (Edited quote from my brunch date!) the bacon jam Benedict was cooked to perfection. The drinks were so good, and perfect for brunch. What made this place even more of a gem was the little bakery, the bar, gift shop, and "mini museum". We walked about and I can personally say the the decorative details around the estate added to the charm. Love the fact that this isn't located in all the madness of downtown. So exited to go back!

I really enjoyed the meal and ambiance at Cohen's Retreat. Sitting by the fireplace with friends made dinner cozy. The service was excellent upon entry. Soup and dinner were seasoned to perfection. Everything was fresh and delectable. I had dinner in the main dining room, but I hear the bar has a cool vibe and the catering hall is nice too. Would definitely come back and try other menu items.

This place is really nice. Lunch menu is small, but I love it. It is great for people like me who are indecisive. I ordered the herb and farro and added shrimp. It was delicious. My friend ordered the fried chicken with fries. She said it was too salty for her taste. I would definitely come back. Oh, did i tell you about the cafe and gift store. You better come check it out.

If don't order but one item - get the Crab Stew! Fantastic with lump crab and sherry, and it may be the best I've ever had in Savannah! The waitress highly recommended and she's right, "it's great"! It was a soup and salad day for me, and the Fall Salad with mixed greens, beets, Gorgonzola, drizzle of roasted scallion dressing was terrific, too. The accompanying grilled chicken was flavorful but a bit chewy. My only experiences at Cohen's Retreat so far has been at attend lovely events with delicious eats. There was a wait today but not for too long. A helpful tip is to keep in mind Cohen's retreat is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Additionally, they prepare many entrees using local and regional items. Honestly, a vegetable plate of their A La Carte items was tempting. Each are $5 and include Collard Greens, Mac & Cheese, Brussels Sprouts & Bacon, Field Peas and Seasonal Vegetables. I will return!

Got to dine there Saturday following the Savannah Scottish games and was beyond thankful we did. This is a hidden gem in Savannah. It used to be an old gentleman's home and their history is on display in the lobby. The bench chairs outside face the street where the gentleman who lived there could watch the traffic go by. This place has been remodeled into a great spot for drinks and amazing foods. The separate bar area is well apportioned and was busy with young couples and locals alike. The dining room is classy but also casual at the same time. The decorations run from Indian/Asian wood accents but the food is low country and American. Their shrimp and grits is very flavorful and I got the New York strip done in an Au Poivre style. It was excellent. The staff were fun and professional. They truly wanted you to enjoy the place and their knowledge of the building was very prevalent. Please if you can, give this location a try and you won't be disappointed.

    Christmas Atmosphere!

So on this particular Thursday night,Dec 7th,it was a solo dinner date (self love). I chose Cohens because of the convenient location and I knew I would be seated fairly quickly even though I made reservations 45 minutes later. I've been to this place for brunch but only once for dinner. So you can say this is one of a favorite places. The atmosphere was amazing,Christmas lights, fireplace and great service what else is there. For dinner I had the hush puppies for starters a glass of wine , while I waited for the main course , I worked on the agenda for the grands and the adults coming for the holidays. Once I received my fabulous looking shrimp and grits I got very excited. They were extremely tasteful but the shrimp were very tough, not what I was expecting. I pressed on because of how delicious the meal was. After dinner I indulged in another glass of wine to listen to the great solo organist , he was great, very smooth and very relaxing. Now I'm trying to decided on my next Thursday Night Self love adventure.

We held my wedding reception at Cohen's Retreat. It was a small reception for 6-8 people. Natasha Davis helped us in booking the room and ordering the food in advance, and she is great. We took the chef's dining room. The food was delicious and service was warm. We started close to their closing time but they arranged for us and the kitchen and waiters/waitress was there with us untill the end which is 1 hour exceeding their closing time. What impressed me was the other guests having dinner there was cheering and congratulating for us when we came in. People go to the place they like, nice people go to nice place, isn't it? Food was delicious and looks great, too.

I've been to Cohen's several times for dinner, but this was my first time going for lunch! We ordered the smash burger and shrimp and chicken salad plate - both of which were great! They also have an awesome happy hour during the week - Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - 4-6 and Thursdays from 4-9!

Sunday fried chicken in a converted gas station five miles outside Savannah, with oysters that I'm…read morestill thinking about three days later. That's the short version. Here's the longer one. Erica Davis Lowcountry sits on Victory Drive in Thunderbolt -- a town so small it has exactly one square mile of land and a name borrowed from a lightning strike that supposedly split open a freshwater spring on the Wilmington River bluff. The restaurant itself has a similar origin story: a long-shuttered seafood spot called Teeple's, left empty for years, brought back to life by Erica and Dwight Davis with real care. The gaslight sconces out front stayed. So did the bones of the building. The garage doors open when the weather cooperates. We came in late on a Friday, catching the final stretch of their brunch service. Hannah (I believe) was our server -- in training, which you wouldn't have guessed. She steered us well and managed the table (and the room) with a confidence that didn't feel performed. We started with the Barbecue Shrimp and the Oysters Rockefeller. The barbecue shrimp -- Georgia shrimp in a spiced, rich sauce served with toasts -- was good but the one I'd skip on a return visit. The Oysters Rockefeller are the opposite story: roasted, finished with creamed collards and parmesan, and genuinely one of the better bites I've had in recent memory. Order them. My husband had the Wassaw Redfish -- pan-seared over stone-ground grits with garlic beurre blanc and heirloom tomato. Clean, confident cooking. I had the Sunday fried chicken, which delivered exactly what that dish promises when it's done right. Sides of fresh green beans, South Georgia collards, and Erica's Famous Coleslaw held their own across the board. Dessert was the Key Lime Pie, served in a cup that does not prepare you for how good it is. Tart and creamy in the right proportion. We didn't leave any behind. The family's seafood history in Savannah goes back to 1946. You can feel that kind of depth in a kitchen -- not in any one dramatic bite, but in the steadiness of it all.

The…read morerestaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the staff was friendly, although our food took a bit longer than expected to arrive. I ordered the Lowcountry Boil, which comes with shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage. The sausage and potatoes were good, and the seasoning was decent, but I was underwhelmed overall, especially considering the price. The shrimp didn't seem particularly fresh and had some white spots and discoloration that gave me the impression they may have been frozen for quite a while. As a result, the dish didn't quite live up to the hype for me. My wife ordered the Wassaw Redfish, which was recommended by our server, and that ended up being the standout dish of the meal. The redfish was cooked well, the garlic beurre blanc sauce was rich without being overwhelming, and the grits were creamy and flavorful. The shrimp and green beans complemented the dish nicely. Overall, the experience was mixed. The atmosphere was pleasant, and my wife's entrée was very good, but the Lowcountry Boil fell short of expectations. I'd consider coming back to try some of their other menu items, but based on this visit, I wouldn't order the boil again.

Very hard not to make it chewy. Great char and sauce that accompanied it. For entrees, we did the Perloo, an amazing interpretation, and a swordfish. Both dishes were immaculately prepared and perfectly sized. We chose a bottle of Loss and Lehn, something we had never tried before but recommended based on what we had ordered. On this visit, we sat outside, and while the outdoor seating does expose you to nature and some insects, the restaurant does fan the area well, even offering table top fans to keep the flies away. The entree I ordered was overall decent, a crab cake Benedict with a side salad - I'm confident if I lived in the area I would find a standard go-to order that would be even better. It was accompanied by a Savannah banana iced coffee which truly hit the spot on a warm day. While the restaurant does have its own parking lot, it does appear to fill up quickly - there's plenty of paid parking available around the park, and for our purposes it gave us a good reason to walk around the park before our meal, and again to walk off our lunch afterwards. Pricing is reasonable at about $25 per person, obviously it can get much pricier depending on whether you're just stopping in or you're making a longer experience of your visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant, more so for the experience than the food alone.. but the food is pretty good too.
