My group of 4 came in for an early lunch on a rainy Saturday. The wait staff was efficient and friendly and we were seated and had drinks quickly. The restaurant decor appears dated and dingy. Our waitress was great. Food: The menu looks fantastic, but the taste didn't live up to expectations. My unsweetened tea was half and half, green beans were very salty, corn pudding was way too sweet, and chicken was dense. Tartar sauce was very good and tasted homemade, but would've been better if cocktail sauce was an option for shrimp.

All Good things must come to an end. 90 A health score. The vibe wasn't the same as my previous experiences, The restaurant felt damp and Old, and update is in order from the floors to the ceiling and in between. As always the food is tasty. Service a plus. So again I'm not going give up yet, one more try later this year to see if my feeling improves the perception on good old Sweet Potatoes Kitchen.

We stopped in for lunch a few weekends ago and had no idea this hidden gem would be the perfect lunch spot!!! We were greeted by incredibly sweet staff who were positive and welcoming. We were sat quick, as the dining room wasn't too full. I cant remember our servers name, but she was super nice and helpful too. She talked us through the menu and some of her favorites - we LOVE recos!! We took her up on the meatloaf sandwich and lima beans per her feedback, and couldn't have been more pleased. We also got a wedge salad. The Meatloaf was delicious and hearty and the sweet potato fries were delicious too. But the lima beans... OMG!! By far the best I've had in a while. They were a little lemony, with some dill, and perfectly cooked. My mouth is watering thinking about them right now!! The Wedge was also a great portion with fresh bacon crumbles and loads of blue cheese. YUM!! We will definitely be back!! thanks to the staff for a lovely lunch!!

We decided to try out Sweet Potato Kitchen, and I'm so glad we did! Each of us ordered something different, and every single dish was absolutely delicious (see photos!). For four plates, two soft drinks, one small dessert and two alcoholic beverages, our total came out to $98. A little on the pricier side, but worth it--the food was clearly homemade and high quality. The restaurant itself is small on the inside, but it has a cozy, homey feel. From being greeted at the front door to the attentive service from our server, the staff made the whole experience wonderful. Definitely a great spot to stop by if you're in the area. Highly recommend!

I had no idea this place was here! The ambience took me back in time with the decor and colors. The staff was really nice and really joyful to be around! Our waitress was really funny and helped us order our food letting us know which ones was her favorites. I got the wedge salad which was good.

Very impressed with this charming kitchen!!!!! Fantastic service, great food. Marley was our waitress and was adorable, polite, attentive, just a ray of sunshine. The owners Steve and Wendy even stopped by. Great people! Checked on us multiple times. Highly recommend for good, Southern comfort food.

I place where I use to be a semi regular, I haven't been here in 3 years cause I moved to Atlanta, I just moved back. This is a place I would have given 4 to 5 stars before . Today, I wouldn't give it a 1star, the portions were small, my country fried steak was way over cooked, how do we do that in the south, it's our thing. It was so bad and inedible I sent it back and just ate the vegetables, the corn pudding was great, the mash potatoes, dry and cold, it wouldn't even melt butter. This is a place I use to highly recommended, not anymore. It a shame, the service was great. You can Steve doesn't own it anymore.

Don't come here if you're expecting good food. Absolutely awful- for the record, I'm white and this food had no seasoning. 10/10 don't recommend for a good dining experience, you might end up with dysentery- I was so sick after eating here.

Mixed reviews on this place. People are super friendly and willing to share recommendations. The food was flavorful; I had the pecan crusted chicken (comes with one breast for all chicken dishes), garlic mash, and Brussel sprouts. The garlic mash was delicious but the roasted Brussel sprouts were mushy. We asked for corn bread and we should have skipped it. The texture was crumbly and not in a good way and was drier than the Sahara dessert. Also, not sure why some of them were an inch or so thick and others were a quarter inch. All of them were the worst corn bread I've ever had. After we ordered, we waited about 20 minutes before they came back and told us they were out of some of the sides. Three of us had corn pudding but they came last minute to tell us they were out. While the chicken was good, we all mentioned that we wished it came with one more piece to make the meal feel full. The saddest part, in my opinion was that they have on their menu and website they have a top rated banana pudding, which is the real reason we were excited to come, but they were out. Would have loved to know that at the beginning as well. Wish they were out of the cornbread instead of the banana pudding. Plenty of parking.

Without reservation we decided to "come early" for dinner on a Saturday evening. The place closes at 8, so we arrived slightly before 6.30. Smoke parking and there's no line which is a good sign. There were 2 other parties in front of us though. Soon after they seated the 1st party and we were told to wait (no specified amount of time). We were probably waited about 20ish minutes before we got out table. The place is packed. Lots of people came after us and had to wait for tables as well. I was getting worried as I read past reviews while waiting but decided to stick with our venture. We were not disappointed! My fried chicken is super moist even though it was chicken breast. The taste is spot on and the right crunchiness as well. The catfish is flaky and light. My husband enjoyed his Jerk chicken. This is super rare because chicken is his least favorite meat, so for him to compliment a chicken dish it must be VERY good

We stopped here on the way home from nc and it was SUPER FAST! It was great so we could eat and relax for a bit and get back on the road. I ordered the buffalo sand which and it was SO good. My boyfriend loved all of his food! I was not a fan of the garlic potato's so my boyfriend ate them up lol. Super quick service and kind waitresses. The place is super cute.

Lunch. It's a modest place so if you want more upscale for dinner i'd recommend downtown like treylor park or Paula Deen's...

While that might've been fun, that definitely wasn't what I was prepared for. It was much better! West broad bandshell is a very interesting concept, blending soul food and Asian cuisine to create an eclectic butt very engaging menu. We took some family visiting Savannah to West broad bandshell Friday night and had a great time! First, this is a decent sized restaurant with about 8 to 10 tables and because we had a large group of eight people they were able to seat us together towards the front of the restaurant right in front of the stage. Now one thing to note. For groups of six or more they do not split checks and there is an automatic 20% gratuity. In the day and age where date night includes multiple couples hanging out together, I'm always a bit disappointed to see this lack of flexibility. Especially knowing that most digital POS systems are not that difficult to use when splitting a check, but we were able to accommodate that particular wrinkle. Our table started off with cornbread, which is complementary and very tasty. Baked more like a poundcake loaf, it was really tasty with hints of cinnamon and brown sugar. From an entrée standpoint, the menu is really diverse. I ended up ordering the Asian slaw burger, which I know that isn't the name but that's the best way I could describe it. My lady ordered the Korean fried chicken and both entrées were huge but flavorful. We ended up taking so many to go boxes home after this visit. One of the highlights of the night was the live music. What seemingly started off as a single solo Artist performance ended up being a full band performance with a saxophonist, a guy playing a trombone, an excellent keyboard player, and the host doubled as both the drummer and the guitarist. Several people from the audience actually joined them on stage to do various renditions of neo soul, R&B, and popular urban pop. They also took request from the audience in addition to playing original songs so if you are a music lover this is definitely a set you want to check out. I would rate West broad band shell as a five star date night restaurant, but likely not the best fit for large families and group groups.

The young man who served us was attentive and pleasant. The prices are phenomenal for what you get. They have a long list of meats you pair with eggs, grits/potatoes, and a biscuit or toast. I ordered the salmon patty (salmon croquette), grits, biscuit, and added potatoes. They give you plasticware and a styrofoam cup but your food is served on real dishes. It didn't take too long for our food. The biscuit comes with melted butter on top, but I needed butter for INSIDE my biscuit. I requested it, but it was also melted. Nothing wrong with that, just different. Just as the pictures looked...it was like someone's grandmother was in the kitchen cooking. If there is a negative, my croquette could've used more cornmeal on the outside and definitely some mixed in to bind it together. Other than that, my breakfast was DELISH!

Still 5 stars for the ambiance--all the reviews that talk about how pretty the place in are correct-- beautiful decor, well chosen fabrics on the upholstery, and a lovely mural downstairs, and the bathroom wallpaper is great! I'd give 4 stars for the friendly but disorganized service; it took quite a while for the food to come out, then more time for silverware to come out, and it was hard to catch people's attention. When you did, though, they were lovely. The three stars is for the oysters. They were poorly shucked, and full of shell bits; it felt a little dangerous for the inside of the mouth. They were fresh, and probably would have been tasty, but the grit and shell flakes made them inedible. We each tried one, then tried another to see if they were done better, but nope. The weirdest part was that instead of taking the oysters off our bill, they only discounted them, which felt like a bad management choice. Either way, I'd recommend the place, but not the oysters, and I'd hesitate to go back, even though I'm going to be dreaming about that oxtail and red rice for a long time.

The restaurant is communal style and only opened from 11am-2pm. There are about 8 oval shaped tables total that can seat approximately 8-10 people per table. I believe they said they can seat 75 total. When you go inside, at each table they'll have sweet tea and plenty of dishes of food for you to choose from already on the table. The options included fried chicken, sweet cornbread, biscuits, green beans, black eyed peas, Mac n cheese, squash, okra, dirty rice, collard greens, potatoes au gratin, Lima beans, pulled pork, beef stew, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato salad, and maybe a few more options. You pass the dishes around the table and load your plate up until your heart is content. The best items to me were the fried chicken, sweet cornbread, and peach cobbler. The dirty rice was undercooked and there were hard pieces. Everything else was just sustenance. If you're a vegetarian, your options will be limited to sides only. You might be able to have squash, Mac n cheese, and maybe potato salad. Many of the items are cooked with meat or made with beef or chicken stock. It's $35 flat per person. Based on the 2 hour and 15 minute wait, I don't think the food was worth it. If the wait was 30 mins to 45 mins, maybe.
