Always see this place pop up when we are traveling and want to stop for lunch but our timing is never right...today it was!! So many good sounding things and they have a buffet. I decided to go for a smash burger. The GCK burger. Cooked perfectly! Loved the Vidalia onions and aioli. Solid burger. A fresh salad from the buffet and the meal was complete. Deb hat the hot food buffet. She liked everything. I tasted the Brunswick stew. Really good. Service awesome. So friendly. Atmosphere was relaxed and local. Definitely worth all the rave reviews. We will make it a point to stop in again

Georgia Country Kitchen main dining room

This area of Port Wentworth GA is situated right off of the Rt. 95 corridor and seems to serve the needs of road travelers and those in the area for a conference or the like. The Georgia Country Kitchen was the perfect stop for us for dinner. There is seating in a bar area or in the main dining room. The menu had plenty of things to choose from - we decided to go with the Buffet. $19.95 per person and certainly worth every penny. There was a salad bar with fresh greens and ample additional toppings. The hot buffet table was a terrific sampling of southern comfort food - perfect for a weary traveler who doesn't know they want for dinner. Be Sure to try a piece of their fried chicken - Oh, so good!! The friendly service and ambiance were both good & welcoming. Over our four-day road trip this was the Best dinner stop that we experienced.

Mediocre food and service at best. Some of the buffet was cold. Ordered ice tea but water was served. I just let that go.

I love the coconut shrimp that was on the buffet. My fiancé said the fried chicken was very good as well.

Food was amazing, we had JALAPEÑO POPPER CHICKEN grilled & sliced chicken breast,…read moreroasted garlic & jalapeño whipped cream cheese, hoagie roll with red grapes and pineapple slices. Husband had CLAM LINGUINI crispy pancetta, sweet peas, classic white wine & garlic butter broth, fresh herbs. We sat outside, next to the sidewalk. We had our puppy with us. They brought him water. Patio furniture was comfortable. Our waitress, Nicole, was great. No complaints. Will go back here when we are in town.

Unfortunately, my experience last night left a bad taste in my mouth. We were seated in the lower dining room. Everything was going well with good service and delicious drinks... and then I spotted a cockroach crawling under our table. Of course, we are in the south & I am willing to overlook the odd roach here and there. However, when a second one emerged from the hallway, my confidence that this was just a one-off incident tanked. By the time our food arrived, our focus had been diverted to be on roach alert. Unfortunately, the food also missed the mark--overly salty and bland at the same time. None of this aligns with The Public I know and love, so I am really hoping this was just an off night. Might be taking a break from this place for a while.

Verenice was the BEST! Give that girl a raise or a promotion! She was doing it all! From taking orders, bringing food out, and cleaning up tables! She helped us navigate the menu/ordering. She also brought out our food to the table and was so helpful during our first time here. There were lots of ramen options to choose from. You choose your broth and meat option and that tells you your price. You can add extra toppings for additional costs. Runs about less than $20 a person. They have fountain drink options as well as other Asian drinks. They have rice bowl options as well as meat on a stick. They don't have kids meal options but it's about $8 for noodles and broth. Which is a good option for kids. I ordered shoyu broth for my son. I didn't realize it would taste so salty. I understand it's a soy sauce broth. But most ramen broths I've had isn't to that degree. I asked if they could add hot water to the hot water to make it less salty. Verenice again was so helpful, she brought the ramen back out and said if I needed more water added to just ask. I will say I did not appreciate the additional comments from some of the kitchen staff. The place is decorated with lots of anime characters. They have a vending machine with goodies. A claw machine with stuffed animals and lots of Pokémon cards for sale.

The service was good. You place your order at the counter and pay before finding a seat. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. The tonkotsu ramen was mediocre and would have been better if it had been served steaming hot. The fish cake skewers were also okay. Overall, I wasn't very impressed with the food. I'm glad I was able to try it, but I'm unlikely to return.

The cheese was smooth, not oily, and the bread was perfectly toasted. Not pictured is the "pot of gold" iced coffee, which was a vanilla and toffee nut flavor with sprinkles on top. The flavor wasn't nutty, which I enjoyed. If you like sweet coffees, this is a great option!
