Well, let me count the ways: Succulent fried chicken, very lightly kissed fried catfish, collards with bacon fat (sounds unhealthy, wrongo Poindexter!), string beans, mac and cheese, a terrific salad bar with just enough variety, dinner bun, and sweet or not Tea, a course. Yep, I had today's buffet which sometimes features ribs which I was hoping it might be available but they only cook what is in surplus with their food distributor. Unfortunately, the ribs were not. Could we please have a moment of silence. So it is hit or miss for ribs, depending upon the day you show. Our Server Ahiay, was timely, had a winning personality, and was efficient, meaning, their food is served hot. My dinning champion's BBQ had a remarkable tastebud flavor experience featuring BBQ chard, and was exceptional in every way. The restaurants environment was CLEAN, relaxing, and comfortable. And all of this for $17.95 on average. Now, you can't beat that with a stick. Or can you? I guess you can, if you don't mind being arrested. lol Or recommendation is for you to pack up your gang of two, four, six, eight, or ten (you over achiever, you), and slide on into your perfectly tuned glide ride, and fly into one of Georgia Comfort Kitchen's booths real soon. Rain has a way of making you hungrier for the right kind of food. We walked into Georgia Comfort Kitchen off I-95 on one of those gray, damp Georgia afternoons, and from the first bowl of gumbo, the weather outside stopped mattering entirely. We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half. read more

We stopped at Georgia Comfort Kitchen on a Saturday afternoon and loved everything about our experience. The buffet was $15 per adult (free for our toddlers, which was incredible!) - we enjoyed everything. The mashed potatoes and gravy were perfect, as was the fried fish and fried chicken, and we loved the gumbo over rice. They had an apple crisp on the buffet for a dessert option and it was delicious - though the dessert menu also had great options (banana pudding, peach cobbler, key lime). Our service could not have been better - we were greeted immediately and she was so kind and helpful. Great spot for a family too -- they had high chairs and a changing table in the restroom. Always see this place pop up when we are traveling and want to stop for lunch but our timing is never right...today it was!! So many good sounding things and they have a buffet. I decided to go for a smash burger. The GCK burger. Cooked perfectly! Loved the Vidalia onions and aioli. Solid burger. A fresh salad from the buffet and the meal was complete. Deb hat the hot food buffet. She liked everything. I tasted the Brunswick stew. Really good. Service awesome. So friendly. Atmosphere was relaxed and local. Definitely worth all the rave reviews. Jennifer, our server could not be nicer. So there is a full buffet, but we ordered a smash burger & fried chicken (w2sides) off the menu. Fast service, delicious & the brussel sprouts were worth the extra $1! The menu had plenty of things to choose from - we decided to go with the Buffet. $19.95 per person and certainly worth every penny. There was a salad bar with fresh greens and ample additional toppings. The hot buffet table was a terrific sampling of southern comfort food - perfect for a weary traveler who doesn't know they want for dinner. Absolutely lovely staff, very clean venue and amazing food options for the price. They have a daily lunch buffet and you can't beat the $15 price tag on that. Everything is kept tidy and organized. Salad bar is even a steal for $10 all you can enjoy. We really enjoyed the fried cheese bites (cheese curds) for $7 and they have an excellent beer selection. We ordered the BBQ totchos (which they no longer have), Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp and Grits. O... How could I forget the Peach Cobbler Cornbread? It could be considered a dessert but don't tell! The second time it was for my friends birthday and they were more than accommodating the management and staff were excellent throughout the experience! We had a mixed party some ordered off of the menu and others had the buffet. No complaints with either choice!
