Oxtails with rice, greens, sweet potatoes, corn bread
    Lonnie J.

My husband and I have driven by the location a few times, but were never sure if they were open. There's also a "masks required" sign on the front so we never went in. The sign is obviously from the beginning of COVID days and just never took it down . Don't let it stop you! Firstly, the portions are massive. Like 3 meals massive. The food is laid out typical cafeteria style where you tell them what you want and they plate it. I ordered the ox tails and my husband ordered the meatloaf. The ox tails were soooo tender and flavorful. I was in heaven on the first bite! The greens were cooked well and they had pepper vinegar sauce to put on it which added my typical preference of a more vinegary taste. The peach cobbler is outstanding and I'm not a peach cobbler fan. Very flavorful without being too sweet and the crust is yummm. 10/10 would recommend. You'll get a couple meals from the one plate! The service is great with the typical southern, small town kindness. We will for sure be repeat customers and I'm excited for the fried chicken!

We have lived down the road from this place for probably seven years now and somehow this is the first time we've been. Soul food served in a cafeteria style that made it hard to decide what I wanted when practically everything in front of me looked good. My wife got the fried chicken with Mac n cheese and green beans with potatoes. I got the Parmesan wings with creamed corn and green beans with potatoes. The weather hasn't been very nice lately and the A/C was not keeping up, so we got everything to go and headed home. There is plenty of seating if you want to stay and eat. My wife was blown away by the fried chicken and I'm happy to say my fried wings were the best I've had in a long time, maybe ever. This was my first time eating creamed/cream corn NOT out of a can and I loved it. Green beans and potatoes were perfect. Supporting local business is important, but this food experience has made it easy to come back and continue doing that.

The best biscuits and gravy around!

Yes still open. Great folks run this place. Small town charm food is good, cornbread is fantastic, highly recommended

But we did not let that deter us and we went in and used the electronic device to get us on a waiting list. We were told 15 minutes, but we waited no more than 10. I am going to take into consideration the massive crowd, and say that our food and drink came in very reasonable time considering. We were not in a hurry, and kind of enjoy the bustle and the people. Our waitress was exceedingly friendly, very helpful and very accommodating. My friend and I each got a fancy Sunday brunch cocktail. Mine was strawberry, and it was delicious. She loved hers as well, she got the grapefruit one. They were lovely to look at and delicious and refreshing. A very fun way to start our Sunday morning. We both ordered the California club sandwich and I asked for gluten-free bread. The sandwich was delicious and the gluten-free bread was good. If you know about gluten-free bread and the heartache of searching for a decent slice, then you'll appreciate this bread on your sandwich. I got french fries which seems I have to order every single time even as I contemplate the healthier side choices. They were great, hot, fresh, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My friend got a side salad which she was happy with, obviously far more willpower than I have. She was not happy with the dressing she had chosen and the waitress happily brought her a different one. While we were there, I noticed everybody was working so hard and the customers all around us seem to be very much enjoying themselves. I don't know if this should really be relevant in my review but there was a group of four people who were sat down in a table nearby who upon being seated asked the waitress immediately if they could get their food quickly and she told them that it probably would not be as fast as they would like it. At which point they got up and left. The waitress seemed to feel bad about that, but when the manager came over to investigate, he simply took it in stride and then started to clean the table off for the next group. My friend and I had to wonder who would come into such a bustling and packed restaurant and think that they were going to get served especially fast. Another thing about we noticed about the manager is that he seemed very much hands-on and all over the place in the restaurant. He was very friendly when we looked at the check-in device and wondered what we were doing ~ he made jokes that made us feel less Luddite like. He bussed tables and sat people, and checked on things, and generally looked like the kind of manager of that Gordon Ramsay would appreciate. The menu has something for everybody! And some very exciting options that we have to go back and experience. Lots of add-ons for everything, a huge variety of choices. My sister-in-law had recommended the avocado toast, and I was tempted. I was also tempted by the biscuit and gravy and the eggs Benedict, which are hard for me to resist at brunch. but I reasonably only ordered one meal for me. It's been a long review, but I have to say the meal really was that good and the whole experience was very enjoyable. Not only will I be going back but, I will be recommending it, wholeheartedly, to everybody. Thanks for a great meal!

Our food came out fast and my husband's breakfast was delicious and just what he ordered and expected. I ordered chicken salad on a croissant. However, they had no croissants available even though it's one of the $10 featured items. I settled for the summer salad with strawberries and candy walnuts. I was disappointed. It looked like a regular tossed salad with a couple of strawberries and candies nuts throwing on top with some sliced turkey or chicken.(I couldn't tell the difference.) just throwing on top. The restaurant was very clean and as I said the weight staff were very friendly and the service was fast. I would definitely go back and order the breakfast that my husband had, or try again for the Chicken salad on a croissant.

The staff are very nice and welcoming, and Antoinette herself was an absolute delight. We came for the buffet lunch which, honestly, was less of a buffet and more of a live menu where they pick the food out of a tray for you. I think the restaurant would benefit from switching to a paper menu because standing in line waiting for the staff to pick your food one by one person by person was a little bit of an awkward experience. I feel like only getting one piece of fried chicken for a 20$ plate (which, with the credit charge and a drink and tip was pushing into 30$) wasn't great, but the portions on everything else was great. I really liked the food, the greens were well seasoned and really delicious. My boyfriend who doesn't usually like mac n' cheese loved their mac, and we both loved the corn. The candied yam was my highlight, really well cooked and just delicious. The fried chicken wasn't anything crazy but it was good for the one piece that came with my meal. The ribs could be better, they're onto something with the seasonings but the meat was tough and chewy which I didn't really care for. The burner on the ribs also went out which I think is another flaw with their buffet method, which left it lukewarm which was... Fine, just could've been better. The buffet did come with corn bread which I loved, I mean really high quality corn bread it was delicious. Overall the food is pretty good but the rib quality definitely drags it down for me. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for anyone trying to get some good authentic southern cuisine; after a month in Vidalia this place was a breath of fresh air. I really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, it was clear the owner put a lot of time, care, and money into making it a high quality dining experience, and one that I think is well on par with a lot of the nice restaurants in Savannah. My only immediate recommendation is either let people pick their food themselves at the buffet (and clarify that it's not all you can eat, other people at my table were confused about not being able to get a second serving) or ditch the buffet entirely. It's a nice idea but it would've been nicer and less awkward to just sit down and order what specifically I wanted. Also maybe hide that massage table by the bathrooms I wasn't sure what was going on there, it's literally the only weird thing with the otherwise delightful atmosphere of the restaurant.

My husband had been wanting to try this place for a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and we felt comfortable from the moment we walked in. The menu is unique and thoughtfully curated, but they were kind enough to make an off-menu lemon butter penne for our daughter, which she happily devoured. My husband and I shared the whole fried branzino, and it was the star of the meal...perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside, and incredibly fresh. We paired it with a Caesar salad, which was simple and delicious. For drinks, I enjoyed a refreshing rosé while my husband ordered the Blood Orange Martini. Both were excellent and complemented the meal perfectly. The highlight of the evening, though, was our server, James. He brought such fun, positive energy to the table. We joked around with him throughout the night, and every time he stopped by to check on us, we found ourselves laughing. Service like that makes a great meal even more memorable.
