Fried Shrimp Platter with Mac and cheese and green beans were
Lindsay G.

Growing up on the Gulf in Florida and now living in Charleston, I like to think I'm an expert on shrimp. These ladies cooked the best fried shrimp I've had in my life. The Mac and cheese and green beans were delicious as well. I will be eating here every time I'm in the area. It's located inside Broughton Market. The market also sells Leopold's ice cream so it's nice you can pick some up without having to wait in line at the original store.

I have been wanting to try this business for quite some time and it didn't disappoint. There was a delay in the opening but the food was really good. I had the oxtails, with rice, mac and butter beans. I'd given 5 stars but the beans were really really salty. Everyone was really nice from the cashier to the person making plates. I will return to try the fried chicken.

This is first rate Jamaican food done really well. I had oxtails a couple of patties, jerk chicken, and carrot cake and everything was on point! I especially loved the oxtail gravy which they poured plenty over my rice and peas and I thought the jerk seasoning was authentic. This is a small spot in a strip mall with a couple of tables so this is mostly a takeout operation. But the young lady that waited on me was very helpful, explaining a lot of of the menu, what was fresh and what the days deals were. Definitely plan on making this one of my go to spots.

I am from Brooklyn NY but live in California where there are hardly any Jamaican spots in my area. So when I'm in town I make sure to support this place. There are always people there, all kinds and the service is great! It's a nice place to sit down and eat as there are plenty of tables, unlike most places. Now to the food. She took our order He ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries and a side of fried tail on white shrimp. I ordered the combo 3 with grilled tail on white shrimp, fried catfish and deviled crab with coleslaw and French fries. We got our food and checked it out. Looked good and fresh. His chicken sandwich you could tell was a fresh chicken breast not too thick or breading and decent seasoning. The fries are thicker crinkle cut and were good. My plate came and the shrimp were definitely seasoned I'm pretty sure blackened but that was great I love that flavor. I was disappointed thinking I was just gonna get boring grilled shrimp. My car fish was flaky and delicious. The Cole slaw was ok tasted homemade. The star for me on my plate was the deviled crab. I thought the crab taste was delicious and it actually tasted homemade and I hope it was! If I was passing by again and craving seafood I would make a purposeful trip to stop! They have that wonderful nugget ice, another reason to stop lol

It will take some time to get your food if you get the fried chicken but it is worth it! It's cooked fresh to order. Hubby ordered the ox tail special with mash potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese. Daughter ordered four piece fried chicken with sweet potatoes, and I ordered the three piece fried chicken with greens. Some of our sides were an upcharge but it was worth it. Everything was delicious, we shared our sides. Hubby ordered banana pudding and finished it before we got out of the bathroom! The bathrooms are unisex and so clean and cute! We ordered the fried chicken, potato wedges, red rice, New Orleans rice, and cabbage, jalapeno cornbread and pecan cornbread. Unfortunately, the only things we actually enjoyed were the fried chicken and the potato wedges. Once again, it was an epic fail. The cabbage tasted like it had been boiled in plain water with absolutely no seasoning. Both the red rice and the New Orleans rice reminded us of Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's microwavable rice--bland, lacking flavor, and nothing like the rich, seasoned rice dishes we were expecting. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, and the potato wedges were cooked perfectly, but those two items weren't enough to save the meal. We came hoping for authentic Southern comfort food, but left disappointed. Sadly, this is one restaurant we won't be adding to our list of places to revisit.

Everything was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. My wife ordered the pan seared salmon with a baked sweet potato and squash, and she loved every bite. We topped it all off with the bourbon pecan pie for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a great meal. Our waitress Pattie really made the night special. The staff are very nice and welcoming, and Antoinette herself was an absolute delight. We came for the buffet lunch which, honestly, was less of a buffet and more of a live menu where they pick the food out of a tray for you. I think the restaurant would benefit from switching to a paper menu because standing in line waiting for the staff to pick your food one by one person by person was a little bit of an awkward experience. I feel like only getting one piece of fried chicken for a 20$ plate (which, with the credit charge and a drink and tip was pushing into 30$) wasn't great, but the portions on everything else was great. I really liked the food, the greens were well seasoned and really delicious. My boyfriend who doesn't usually like mac n' cheese loved their mac, and we both loved the corn. The candied yam was my highlight, really well cooked and just delicious. The fried chicken wasn't anything crazy but it was good for the one piece that came with my meal. The ribs could be better, they're onto something with the seasonings but the meat was tough and chewy which I didn't really care for. The burner on the ribs also went out which I think is another flaw with their buffet method, which left it lukewarm which was... Fine, just could've been better. The buffet did come with corn bread which I loved, I mean really high quality corn bread it was delicious. Overall the food is pretty good but the rib quality definitely drags it down for me. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for anyone trying to get some good authentic southern cuisine; after a month in Vidalia this place was a breath of fresh air. I really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, it was clear the owner put a lot of time, care, and money into making it a high quality dining experience, and one that I think is well on par with a lot of the nice restaurants in Savannah. My only immediate recommendation is either let people pick their food themselves at the buffet (and clarify that it's not all you can eat, other people at my table were confused about not being able to get a second serving) or ditch the buffet entirely. It's a nice idea but it would've been nicer and less awkward to just sit down and order what specifically I wanted. Also maybe hide that massage table by the bathrooms I wasn't sure what was going on there, it's literally the only weird thing with the otherwise delightful atmosphere of the restaurant.
