Fried Shrimp Platter with Mac and cheese and green beans were

Growing up on the Gulf in Florida and now living in Charleston, I like to think I'm an expert on shrimp. These ladies cooked the best fried shrimp I've had in my life. The Mac and cheese and green beans were delicious as well. I will be eating here every time I'm in the area. It's located inside Broughton Market. The market also sells Leopold's ice cream so it's nice you can pick some up without having to wait in line at the original store.

I have been wanting to try this business for quite some time and it didn't disappoint. There was a delay in the opening but the food was really good. I had the oxtails, with rice, mac and butter beans. I'd given 5 stars but the beans were really really salty. Everyone was really nice from the cashier to the person making plates. I will return to try the fried chicken.

10/10 - A Must-Stop Every Time I've been coming here ever…read moresince I was little, and it's one of those places that never disappoints. Every time I'm anywhere close, I make it a point to stop, and this trip was no different. I was driving back home to North Carolina and had to make one last stop because it's just that good. The food is always fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The sandwich was perfectly toasted with fresh ingredients, plenty of parmesan, and an amazing sauce, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Everything tasted just as good as I remembered. Service was a 10/10 and wonderful seating options MUST GO!!!

Even after the 2021 rebrand, it still held on for a while, but something in the last 5 years at the main office has completely lost touch. They expanded to three locations: ; downtown, Tybee, and Hilton Head, and in the process the whole identity fell apart. The menu has been gutted of its originality. The "OG" items are now overpriced, portion sizes have been cut in half, and the original sides that made it special are gone. What used to be a simple, order-and-sit-down experience is now chaotic. You're herded in by an overstaffed but somehow still disorganized team of high-turnover employees with zero consistency and very little emotional intelligence. There are always way too many staff for the number of customers, yet service somehow keeps getting worse. Last night was the final straw. We tried the Tybee location first, waited 30 minutes just to be seated, only to be told they were basically out of everything and could only do drinks. So we drove to downtown. Same exact thing. Out of sausage. When we asked if we could just remove it or substitute it, we didn't get a simple no, we got an "absolutely not," because apparently everything is pre-mixed and nothing can be adjusted. Even worse once we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to be asked for drink orders. A different server came over, introduced himself like we were starting fresh, and then got visibly annoyed when we said we'd already ordered water and a soda. From there it just kept getting more awkward. At one point he bumped my cup while I was literally lifting it to my lips and told me to "watch out" while he was placing food down. He took forever to check us out and finally bring our soda to go, and ended the night by saying, "just so you know I'm faster than the other girl," like we were in the middle of some weird staff competition we didn't sign up for. On the outside it still looks like a fun Savannah staple. But once you sit down, you realize you're no longer a local guest, you're trapped in an overhyped tourist operation that's completely lost what made it good in the first place.

I pointed it out right away, and the employee responded, "I told them, but they didn't listen to me," and just walked off. No effort to fix it or take ownership. I ended up taking the potato back to the counter myself and asked for it to be remade. When it was brought back out, the gentleman who delivered it didn't say a word--no apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. What made it more frustrating is that the restaurant wasn't busy at all--we were one of only two tables there. Situations like this are easy opportunities to provide good service, and unfortunately, that didn't happen here

The baked potato was hot, fresh, and loaded well, and the sandwich was made perfectly with fresh ingredients and great flavor. It was simple food but done the right way, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable with a relaxed, easy going atmosphere. Even though it was a busy time, the service stayed friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall it was a solid experience with good food, good service, and a convenient spot to grab a satisfying meal. I would definitely come back again when I am in the area.

Like everybody I have gotten used to less than stellar, fast food service nowadays given the challenge with finding good labor. But this Jersey Mike's Location really needs to reevaluate It's current employee roster. And starting with the Young gentleman who was the primary person making sandwiches the day I visited, they need to give this kid the pink slip or find a new way to motivate him because he was clearly not happy about being at work and seemingly took it out on the customers via excruciating, slow and sloppy customer service. From the time we walked in the front door to the time I finally paid for my sandwiches and left, It took almost 25 minutes. And I know you're reading this and saying why would you stick around that long but this was one of those days when I just wasn't willing to go somewhere else Simply because Service wasn't up to standards. But I should have. One of the problems is, they seemingly didn't have a good system for handling large corporate orders, while simultaneously serving regular customers. This was punctuated by two employees, consistently, crossing back-and-forth between the primary employees preparing sandwiches, which further disrupted time and precision. Three or four customers bought their sandwiches back to the front counter while I was in line because they were either made incorrectly or missing ingredients. I would definitely avoid this location if you have somewhere important to be or just need to get things done during the day.

There was some good banter with customers which made the space feel really comfortable. For example, I mentioned they kept it cold, and customer behind agreed 1000%, and the staffer made light hearted comment "We sweatin back here in the kitchen". It started going downhill as the wait time was not fast. There were no customers when I entered and it took a long time to make the sandwich. I didn't time it, but estimating over 10 minutes. I did order a hot sub so they needed to cook it. I think cold subs are faster. Secondly, as noted on last visit, I was not a fan of the spongey bread. I ordered the basic white bread this time. I love me some good bread. The worst part was the taste of the sub. This has nothing to do with local store employees, as they are making sandwiches per restaurant chain recipe. The chipotle mayo in my CHIPOTLE BEEF CHEESESTEAK was gross. It didn't even look appetizing (see picture). It was so bad that I questioned if I would finish it, but had missed lunch and was eating a late dinner so I was super hungry and didn't want to find something else to eat. On the way out, the friendly staff asked how I liked the sandwich and I said I would not order again. One piped up and replied, "yeah, i don't like that chipotle mayo either" and recommended the cheeseteak without the mayo. Again, kudos for the staff for being friendly and honest, but I am not liking the chain.
