Best BBQ on this section of I-95. I always make it point to stop here as I'm traveling. Now the outside may not look like much because it shares a building with a BP Gas station. But don't let that fool you. The BBQ is gold inside. I've had the Brisket and I think I'm back in Texas. The Pulled Pork is so good and Smokey with just the right amount of bark. And if you like smoked chicken, either get the 1/2 or quarter chicken plate or add on 5 smoked wings. They are some of the best I've had. Their sides are all made in house, and I prefer the Brunswick stew. If you get a plate you get two sides and I'll typically try to talk them into the homemade banana pudding as my second side. Their sauces are good but unique in that they have a mustard base or vinegar base. I like them but that may different for you.... But trust me their smoke is so good you really don't even need sauce. And to me that is a sign of FANTASTIC BBQ! The staff is friendly and willing to help you with the menu as well as it's a little confusing when you first stop in because it's all hand written on the wall. Worth the stop and you'll be happy you did!! read more

Still the best ribs and slaw I have ever eaten. If I lived near here, I would eat here a few times a month. I also really like the ice tea. I mix sweet and unsweetened until I get the perfect taste. There is no better BBQ anywhere else in the world. read more

This food is delicious. We had pulled pork, sliced chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. It was a catered event so I can't review the actual inside of the restaurant. The mild bbq sauce was delicious and I honestly don't know which meat was better. They were both fabulous! Cannot wait to make a trip to the actual restaurant and enjoy their food again. read more

Sometimes to find a place you had been to many years before. That is exactly what I did again when I stopped in Richmond Hill and needed some gas for the car. That I got. But the real surprise was not the price of gas, but the step I took back into the SMOKIN PIG. This is always the hidden treasure that seems to get better with time. Nothing changes except the food and the quantity. It is still more than what you expect. The meals are great. The food, excellent. We started with a Beef Brisket sandwich in a fresh roll. There was a huge portion of meet cooked just the right way. We also had a side of home-made coleslaw. The right touch of vinegar and sweetness you do not always expect. Along with this we had a platter of Pulled Pork that was over half-a-pound. It filled the plate. It came with a side of baked beans (with a touch of pork and onions), as well as a side of Brunswick Stew. And if you never had this you will see that it is a special home-made meal that a friends mother would make for you at lunch or for dinner one night. It is made with fresh vegetables that can change every day. One thing to note, that on every table is the array of different BBQ sauces from sweet to hot. You can pick one, or two, or mix-and-match. It is your choice to consider. Naturally there was a slice of toasted white bread that was big and fresh and covered with butter. This is not a light meal. It is truly made int he kitchen and brought out to you to enjoy. As always, the price is right when you come here. The team is ideal and friendly. And if you are not there early enough it is packed with everyone who must live int he area. We actually sat next to a couple from Toronto, Canada. They mentioned that when they drive down from Canada they always stop here one night to get a dinner they cannot get back home. This is on my list, and in my phone. I will be back. The gas belongs in the car. The food belongs in my stomach. It is that good to enjoy. read more

I loved the ribs, they really were fall off the bone and flavorful without the sauce (even though that sauce is delicious!). I was hankering for some ribs and this place had great reviews and it was only 5 mins from where I was pet sitting. I waited till 5p, bc I wanted to go at 3p but figured I might get leftovers from lunch. I got ribs w/2 sides which were baked beans and green beans& then an extra side of mac&cheese. Well just as I had feared, that mac had to have been made earlier in the day bc it was not fresh and cheesy. Most ppl can tell when mac&cheese has been sitting there for a long time. I thought since it was 5p they would have put a new pan out. The green beans were good (basically tasted like they came right from the can with a couple of spices). The baked beans were really good! I enjoyed them immensely! The ribs like I said were tender, juicy and a good portion. The banana pudding I got tasted fresh and DELICIOUS!! It taste's like how I make mine. Overall it was a really good experience. The lady that took my order & the one that brought it out to me were very friendly. I didn't catch their names. I just got a to go order. Definitely go for the ribs, the baked beans, the sauce & the banana pudding. The mac&cheese? You might need to ask them when it was made bc this was not made just a couple hrs ago. Look at this picture and tell me that was baked within the last 3 hrs. read more

We had great food at the Smokin Pig. The service was really fast and friendly. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and some smoked wings. They were both so good not dry at all, very juicy. We ate there so we were able to choose the sauce at the table we tried them all and they were all very good. The inside isn't real big but plenty of space at tables for the whole family. We will definitely bring friends here when they come into town. read more

Comfortable rustic atmosphere, food in my opinion was mediocre. Coleslaw bland, green beans good. Small piece of dark meat, good smoke flavor but dry. Piece of Texas toast on the side. Sauces on table good were tasty. I've had similar meals elsewhere that were much better. Prices on parr. Maybe this was an off day. Girl behind the counter was friendly who took our order. read more

Stopped here on the way home from Florida when all the chain restaurants were either packed or just looked nasty. What a pleasant experience! Friendly ladies at the counter who offered good advice on which sides to get. The ribs were great! I don't use much sauce but I'd have liked the hot sauce at the table to be a bit hotter. The greens and potato salad were great! If you're looking for a good stop off I-95 be sure to try this place! I'll stop again for sure! read more

Great food and friendly staff convenient location and wide selection Eat here often and the owners contribute to the community

For my 100th Yelp review, it only feels right to feature one of our all-time favorite spots: The Smokin' Pig BBQ Joint in Richmond Hill, GA! Conveniently located right off I-95, this gem has been a tradition for over a decade. After a few years away, we finally made it back, arriving a bit early--but as always, it was so worth the wait. The Smokin' Pig delivers exactly what you want in a BBQ joint: simple, mouthwatering food and warm, friendly service. We shared the St. Louis rib platter, paired with creamy mac & cheese, perfectly seasoned green beans, and buttery Texas toast. Every bite of those ribs, with their deep, smoky flavor, took me back to cozy winter nights by the fire--pure comfort food bliss! We also added some sliced chicken for our picky dog (who had snubbed chicken earlier that day). But one taste of the smoky chicken, and even she was a fan! The Smokin' Pig is proof that BBQ doesn't need frills--just great flavors, great people, and a place that feels like home. If you're traveling I-95 and craving authentic, unforgettable BBQ, do yourself a favor and stop here. You'll be glad you did! read more

The long and short of it .. it just wasn't good. The pulled pork and brisket were dry and lacked flavor. The Mac and cheese was some of the worst I've ever eaten. The good - the potato salad was good, better than acceptable, with a good mustard flavor. The sauces are the best part of everything we tried. They could actually sell them ! The people are super friendly and service was quick. It's kind of what you expect from a gas station eatery.. kind of dingy and a little run down looking. At the end of the day, this is not anywhere near the best BBQ place and it's not one I would recommend. read more

Been coming here for years. The food is great, never had any issues or complaints about anything. Keep up the great job.

I exited Hwy 95 to go to Subway, and am I glad that I did! I switched gears and decided to give them a try and I wasn't disappointed. The ribs were absolutely amazing! The meat fell off the bone. I chose a mild sauce but it wasn't needed. The sides were good but you go to a barbecue restaurant for the meat and the meat is fine dining. The service was quick and I was back on the road in about 10 minutes. read more

Great option to grab a quick lunch right off the highway! I was hungry and didn't want to stray too far off the highway, so I saw Smokin Pig and thought some bbq would be good, it's attached to a gas station, so my expectations weren't too high, but it was tasty! Chopped chicken with Mac n cheese and green beans, I happily scarfed it down as driving. read more

I was driving south on I-95 from Savannah to Florida and saw the sign for Smoking Pig so I thought I would stop! Blown away at the flavor price and service. Stopped to get gas. Then it hit me. The smell of the wood fire and the making of goodness. So I parked and walked in. A very simple interior and menu. Had the brisket sandwich...got it to go...should have just eaten in. It was juicy and made a mess of my hands so ended up walking back in to wash my hands. I would stop if you get the chance. It was delicious. Check out the photo.... read more

Tasty bar b que and comfort food. Fair-sized portions. Walk up ordering, quick service.

I was looking forward to barbecue food, and I saw smoking pig off the highway. I had high hopes for smoking pig due to all the reviews, but not impressed whatsoever. I had the brisket plate, it was bland like it was boiled, overcooked & hard with no flavor so I piled up sauces for taste but I came here for the meat not the sauces. Mac & cheese is one of my favorites and I had to try theirs very unimpressive it was dry & lifeless mac & cheese out of a box would have tasted better than Smokin pig, I also had the Brunswick stew the only taste was the peas, & the toast was burnt. Would not recommend unless you like generic fast food tasting unappealing presentation food with careless workers slopping food on a plate. read more

Excellent BBQ stop off of 95. Counter service and Home style dinning area inside with paper towels and some seating at benches and couple tables. It's next to a gas station but don't let looks fool you. The brisket was perfect as well as the pulled pork sandwich. ribs were juicy and not dry. Their variety of sauces was perfect. Only wish they had fries because would go well with other sides but the potato salad and beans were both excellent. read more

Absolutely not. My family and I were passing through on our way back home and decided to give this "highly rated" bbq place a try. We stopped in at noon on a Friday and were served *reheated* bbq plates. The bread on the sandwich was cold-straight from the fridge- brisket was dry, Mac & cheese was curdled from being reheated, and potato salad was bland. Save your money and keep on truckin'. read more

We had a fun meal last night. We had rolled into the area very late due to a flight delay and by the time we got out we were starving. This place was near our hotel and we saw the reviews, so we decided to stop in. Even though it was a Friday night, it wasn't very crowded although they were doing a huge takeout business. One table was filled with police officers. I ordered the pulled pork platter & my friend ordered the brisket so we could share. Everything was great. My friend was surprised by the lack of beer but made do with a coke. Everything was delicious and they have a nice selection of sauces on the table. I love barbecue & was glad we found this place. read more

I've had food from here with a friend at least 20 times. We love the food here, with my personal favorites being the dark meat chicken, mac and cheese, potato salad, the sweet bbq sauce and the mild bbq sauce. The service is speedy and the people are nice, I'm not very sure on ambience since we always do mobile pick-up, but it seems like a nice place to sit down and have a nice meal! read more

This place totally fit the bill for our lunch stop during a road trip, when we were tired of fast food, but didn't want to take a long time for a sit-down restaurant. Got there right when they opened and had our food within 10-15 minutes. The barbecue was flavorful and not greasy, which I appreciated. It was fun trying the different sauces available at the table - and the spicy vinegar was my fave. The sides were tasty - I recommend the greens over the green beans, but the banana pudding was definitely the perfect ending. Make a stop here and you won't be sorry! read more

We'd been traveling all day, the guys were starving. I'd been snacking all the way down 95, so I wasn't super hungry. I mention this because my full stomach may have been the reason I wasn't overly impressed. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I found it to be quite dry so I went back and ordered coleslaw to plop on top then I drowned it with a combination of hot and sweet BBQ sauces. Unfortunately, it still seemed kind of dry. I took 3 bites and passed it on to 2 traveling companions. They cut it in half and devoured it after cleaning their own plates. The 3 guys with me didn't seem to object to anything on the table. The delivery was lightning fast and the lovely lady taking orders was delightful. The restaurant shares a parking lot with a Subway and a gas station, making it a convenient stop, right off 95. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Nicest people and great pulled pork----we will stop there again going to and returning from Florida!

Nothing fancy, but Really good food. I gave four stars because the bathroom could be cleaner.

Excellent food & service. A great find!! Definitely will return!. Loved the brisket (not fatty) coleslaw & Mac & cheese!!

Absolutely delicious and as someone said, great customer service . We recommend, A must to try!

Our first time here while on our way to Savannah. The place had amazing Yelp reviews so we wanted to check it out for ourselves. We ordered two brisket plates, each comes with a choice of two sides. Here is the rundown: Brisket - was so so. Not the best one I've ever had. Way too fatty, my kids didn't want to eat it. I mean, I love the outside fat, don't take me wrong, but one portion seemed to have a lot of fat within the meat and was rather chewy and all I tasted was fat and not meat. Toast - was amazing. Perfect. Potato salad - super yummy. Tasty, fresh. Mac'n'cheese - disappointment. Greasy and not too much flavor to it. Corn - my kids favorite, they smothered it in butter and sweet bbq sauce and had to have seconds :-) Sweet BBQ sauce was da bomb!!! read more
