This is the real deal. Classic South Carolina Buffet. Hash, BBQ, mustard sauce. Fried chicken. Streak o Lean. Variety of vegetables. Desserts include "Sweet Potato Bread". Looks like a brownie but tastes like heaven. Other desserts are great including Banana Pudding. All you can eat! Family place out in the country. People Drive for miles around to eat here. Steak night must be incredible. I was only there for lunch. Steer your land yacht to Lester's if you are within 50 miles. Nice people! read more

Five stars simply bc it exceeded my expectations. First off, I'm from New Hampshire and was curious about the Savannah/Charleston area so I booked a quick getaway trip to check it all out. So needless to say I was going out on a limb by picking this spot for some southern home cooking. When I first pulled up to the building I could see that it was basically a house with an extension which was the restaurant. In fact, I didn't even think it was a restaurant! They opened at 11 and I got there for about 11:30 and there were only maybe 2 cars (huge F250s) in the lot and to be honest, I was wondering if I was going to get booted for looking like a tourist. BUT, I saw some reviews where people said it was good so I went in. And I am so happy that I did, it was everything that it could've been and more. You can probably get better southern cooking else where but if you're looking to have something different and want to have a feeling of community and you come from a world where TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays and Outback are your typical meals, go for this place. The food was good: fried chicken and collard greens, as much sweet tea as your teeth (and your heart) will allow and the deserts were home baked and the staff was awesome. Not to mention, about 5/10 mins after I got in, I looked up from my plate and the entire town was walking in. It reminded me of every movie or tv show where the characters all know each other and everyone was just happy to be alive. In all honesty I'm moved by the experience since I have become complacent with what life is now in a more populous area. This reminded me that life isn't all like I see it in my daily life. This was an experience bigger than food, it reminded me about what's important and what doesn't matter. Again, if your looking for something totally unexpected compared to your fine dining experiences in busy areas, seek this place out. It's truly an experience that you'll never forget! read more

Outstanding Lowcountry bbq! Came in on Saturday night and had: pulled pork, hash on rice, rutabagas, turnip greens, hush puppies, and fried chicken. Had banana pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious! Will definitely come back next time I'm down to visit my family. read more

Most friendliest place you'll ever visit with some down home good food!! My boyfriend took me here for lunch after we got done being in the woods deer hunting abs man oh man... If you leave this place still feeling hungry, that's on you!! I'm glad I got to have some good lunch after being in the woods most of the morning. Food was delicious and sweet tea was just right! Will have to come back next time we're up this way. Even with the social distancing guidelines, everyone was respectful of each other's space and remaining six feet apart. My friend and I drove all the way from Columbia to try Lester's. I'm getting married in Hampton and there aren't many restaurants to choose from in that area that caters. But omg Lester's! Though I drive down a skeptic...I drove home a believer! This place is SO DELICIOUS! True southern comfort food to its core. The staff is so friendly! Great surprise to find such a gem on my recent trip to Lake Warren State Park. Even late on a Sunday afternoon, not too long before closing time, everything was fresh and tasty. The inside was jjust what I expected with tables of different sizes, even big picnic tables with benches, country-life decor, and plenty of locals still dressed in their Sunday best, hats and all, straight from church. There were also plenty of folk just like me, dressed more casually. This place was filled with lots of wonderful local folks and since I was alone, it was nice to hear a few of theiir interesting conversations. But, back to the food! Loved the fried chicken and the chicken/rice. Pulled pork was good as was the sauce. Hash was good. Rice was too clumpy, but still supported the hash well. Good cornbread and pork chops. I did not have room to try the ham, gravy, stuffing, or a couple other things that escape my memory now. I was pleased with all the entrees. There was a salad bar, but I decided not to fill up on that stuff since I can have that any day, at home. The desserts were great: vanilla and chocolate pudding layered with whipped topping, pecan pie (I did not try it), and yellow layer cake with chocolate frosting. Yes, I tried three desserts! Oh, forgot about the succotash, which was very good. I hope my travells take me back to this area again so I can visit and have another great meal! read more

Found this gem taking the country route on the way home from our Hilton Head vacation. This was a nice change from your typical fast food restaurant. Hands down some of the best food I've ever had. Pulled pork, fried chicken, mac & cheese, greens, butter beans and more! You can tell it's all homemade with care. Be sure to save room for the amazing banana pudding.
