Went to this restaurant for lunch with my mom knowing; however, this is not a favorite of mine. Thought I would give them another try. And, again I was disappointed. We ate from buffet. The fried chicken was dried out and hard. I had to ask for a fresh batch. There was hair in pasta salad, again, asked for fresh bowl. Stuffing was also dried out. This was our 2nd time placing a catering order from them for a repast. The process is quick and the service is great! The order was ready at the scheduled time and contained everything ordered. It's a quaint restaurant that has a buffet, which seemed to draw most of the traffic I saw while waiting. I also found it interesting that people ordered 1 piece of meat and a salad, or a side from the buffet. The prices are very reasonable. This time we ordered ham, fried chicken, baked chicken, green beans, sweet potato soufflé, and 2 gallons each of sweet tea and lemonade. Everyone raved about the food, but especially, the fried chicken, sweet potato soufflé, and the sweet tea. I'd order from them again. read more

Got the buffet right when they had changed to seafood. Amazing spot, so glad we went. Sat in a booth with the kids and they enjoyed the food, especially the macaroni and cheese. I loved the fish and the grits with gravy and the banana pudding. Chicken was good when hot. Really wanted to order a poboy and should have probably gotten on to go because the food was so good. Wouldn't hesitate to stop on our next road trip but one bathroom was out of order and I had to change baby on my lap (would do in the car next time). read more

We knew this was a great place to eat when the parking lot was almost full a half hour before they closed! We were offered a choice of the buffet or order off the menu. My husband and I cant eat a lot - we decided to order off the menu. I asked the server for a recommendation for the chicken salad croissant or burger - she likes the chicken so I ordered it. We got onion rings to share. Unfortunately we were informed they ran out of chicken salad and could they start a burger. Yes!!! Great choice! The bun was toasted perfectly, the burger made just the way I like it topped with cheese, lettuce and fresh tomatoes. Great meal! I am normally not a buffet person but had to get this one. Fried chicken, fish and shrimp were amazing! Lightly coated and perfectly seasoned. The sweet potatoes could have been a dessert (the touch of cinnamon was nice). Mac and cheese, green beans with ham, blacked eyed peas, banana pudding - perfect! The only thing I did not care for was the potato salad and the shredded lettuce at the salad bar. Two buffets, which included the salad and dessert bar, and two drinks were just over $35. Another visit to the OHC,however I'm doing breakfast, never done breakfast b4, I've done lunch and dinner. I was anticipating a breakfast buffet,however that's only done on Saturday and Sunday. The breakfast menu offers a lot of choices. I tried the hungry man breakfast,which consisted of 3eggs any way you like,3 sausage patties,3 slices of bacon, grits,toast or pancakes, I opted for the pancakes. I ate the eggs and 1 sausage patty and 1 slice of bacon and 2 cups of Coffee and I was ready for a nap. So I have enough for leftovers for another breakfast meal. Prices are very reasonable here in the Low country, and the servers and service was fantastic. So don't sleep on OHC. read more

Absolutely the best southern food I have ever had. Fried chicken, ham, shedded hot roast beef, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, southern greens. The list goes on and on. The salad was perfect with six different choices for dressing. The different array of desserts. They have different meals but just get the buffet to enjoy everything. Definitely a must stop for us when we were travel to Hilton Head. Convenient location. The service is excellent. read more

We stopped in Walterboro on our way to Florida to get gas. My wife looked up places to eat on Yelp and Olde House Cafe had good reviews, so we decided to go there for lunch on Wednesday. This is a friendly local Southern eatery. They have good Southern food. At lunch on Wednesday they had a hot food bar and a salad bar. The hot food bar featured southern favorites like fried chicken, mac and cheese, okra etc. The salad bar had a good selection of vegetables and toppings for your salad. They also had a delicious carrot salad and a bowtie pasta salad that was very good. My wife had the grilled chicken with sweet potato fries. I had the grilled pork chop with sweet potato fries. They came with one trip to the salad bar. It was very good. We loved our entees. Laura raved about the grilled chicken. My pork chop was excellent. Don't miss the sweet potato fries - They are outstanding!! Olde House Cafe is well known in the community. We sat across from two police officers who were visiting from somewhere (1.5 hours away?) and two others came in. It's known for good food. Most people had the buffet. If our are driving in South Carolina on I-95 and need gas, stop in Walterboro and eat at Olde House Cafe. read more

Stopped for bfast on our way home from vacation, this is a welcome alternative to fast food and Waffle House. Friendly staff, broad menu, reasonable prices...def worth a stop. I wish we had gone 30 min later as we would have tried the buffet, but we enjoyed what we got except the breakfast potatoes...these looked great, appeared to be slices of baked potato dropped in the fryer to make chips. Despite being golden brown, they were Undercooked and tasted greasy. Pancakes, on the other hand, we're awesome read more

How have we not found this great restaurant before now? Our loss! The food was fast, delicious and served hot. The prices were under $10 too! I ordered the hamburger steak with onions and gravy--at least a half pound of pure satisfaction. My husband had the lunch buffet and said their fried chicken was seasoned perfectly--no need to add salt. The sweet potato fries were great as was the salad bar. My only wish was to have an option for another lettuce other than iceberg. The place has plenty of room so don't let the full parking lot scare you away. They're ready for you. We got in and out in less than 45 minutes. And we weren't rushed. The lobby area has a nice selection of traveling toys for the kids. We added this one to our collection of favorite I-95 restaurants worth the stop. The prices on the menu are for cash customers. Credit and debit card users pay an additional 3%. read more

We just got to SC, our first time in South Carolina ever and first time at the Olde House Cafe ever. It had pretty good Yelp ratings so we decided to try it for ourselves. We ordered steak with white pepper sauce and mashed potatoes, it came with a salad that can be assembled at the salad bar. It's our first real southern food and we didn't expect a few things: 1) the portions are ginormous- I mean one portion can easily feed two people. 2) the steak was shnitzeled! And oh so tasty! Tender and flavorful. 3) the white pepper sauce was amazing, just the right amount of pepper for flavor. 4) mashed potatoes made with real potatoes were heavenly. My kids and I inhaled this meal and kept saying 'oh wow' - it was SO good. Definitely two thumbs up! read more

Locally owned diner. Fried chicken is great. Biscuits are great. Breakfast buffet is excellent. The smoked sausage and cheddar potatoes are both excellent. The lunch buffet is just ok. For southern food, the veggies could be so much more with just a little effort. The gravy and green vegetables taste canned. Collards have too much of the thick stem in them, and that's just lazy prep. Peas and beans don't have enough seasoning so they taste canned as well. I am a born and raised southerner and take offense when restaurants try to pass off food as "southern " when it's just mediocre. But the fried chicken is great! Service is fine. read more

Definitely the lunch buffet is what the locals come for. The fried chicken was delicious and they had nice Black Eyed Peas, and homemade stuffing. The Mac and cheese was nice and hot, just out the oven, but I think it would be better with sharp cheddar cheese rather than mild (American!) cheese IMHO. The green beans were nice but seemed to be made from canned rather than fresh string beans. Everything was well- seasoned and service was attentive and polite.
