We had to visit a government building in St George and were told to have lunch or dinner at Bistro 221. We were greeted at the door by a wait person cleaning the glass. She showed us a table and told us the specials. We ordered the special appetizer, fried green tomatoes, and asked for dinner recommendations. She told us her favorites and answered all our questions. I had the chicken quesadilla with grilled onions and peppers. Delicious! I took half home. My spouse ordered the smash burger with onion rings and honey mustard for dipping. Amazing! Both were recommended by our server. All dressings are homemade. The best honey mustard I've had in a very long time. The inside the building is exposed brick. There's an event space upstairs and yoga was scheduled for the evening. Definitely worth the drive. We'll be back.

We were driving from Florida to NY and needed something non fast food. The wife found this place and we decided to give it a try. What a great find! Service was impeccable, even had some fun ribbing from the waitress at my request to feel at home. Ambiance was amazing even with an event happening on the top floor. Food came out delicious and quickly for how busy they were. Would recommend to anyone looking for a bite to eat and you're sick of the drive thru monotony.

Chicken Wings - highlight of the meal

Was in town for work. Options for food were limited. This place was recommended to us. So, we gave it a shot. Street parking right out front. We were welcomed immediately upon entering and told we could sit anywhere we wanted. Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant is clean as is the men's bathroom. Food... Ordered the wings app. We wanted 12 but they actually only had 6 left. Strange. The Wings were the hit of the meal. Very big and flavorful. Not very spicy. Philly Cheesesteak - average. The veggies overwhelmed the sandwich as the meat to veggie ratio was way off. (See pic). Also, I don't even remember the cheese so that should tell you something. Bread was good. Fries - awful. They serve those frozen, breaded type of fry - not fresh cut. Probably would not go back.

Husband and I went for date night - recommended by our daughter in law. Really nice atmosphere. We went early so it was not busy. I had blackened shrimp tacos which came with salsa and chips. Husband had shrimp Alfredo and a salad. We shared a peach cheesecake for dessert. Husband thought his Alfredo needed salt (easily remedied). I thought it was excellent- Alfredo sauce can be too thick or too watery and this was really good. Tacos were nice. Katie was our server and she was great. Overall good food and great service in a nice atmosphere.

Bistro 221 is a true hidden gem. Housed in a gorgeous restored brick building, the space strikes the perfect balance between cozy chic and versatile charm. The upgrades are clearly well thought out--this is a spot that could easily transform into a formal venue, yet it's just as comfortable for a dressed-down, small-town family dinner. The food did not disappoint. We started with the deep-fried catfish pieces, which were light, crispy, and full of flavor. My husband ordered the salmon with vegetables--cooked beautifully--and I enjoyed the Bistro Burger with fries, extra crispy just as I requested. Every dish arrived hot and fresh. To wash it all down, the beer was perfectly cold, and my husband gave two thumbs up to the sweet tea. Service was another highlight. Our server, Ms. Courtney, was spot-on: warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling rushed. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and experience offered. Frankly, I'm amazed this place isn't packed more often. Bistro 221 deserves to be buzzing every night. In fact, Hollywood should take note--this place could easily be a filming location with its character and charm. Highly recommended! Oh and mentions must be made about the gorgeous outdoor seating areas, patios, for all seasons!

A discovery for us in quaint St George, SC off 95 in the cutest setting. This is not your ordinary place and quite the find. The food was excellent, fresh and cooked to order. The service was friendly and very efficient, special thanks to Katie for the warmest welcome. The owner took it over a few years ago and it's clearly a big favorite with the locals. We will back each time we travel through. I try to find and support local businesses wherever we go and this one is worth the five minute detour.

Cute spot with bricked interior and outdoor patio seating. Stopped in for lunch and ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries and triple decker club sweet potato fries. The Chicken Sandwich was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The club was not my favorite. I think it might have been the pesto that was throwing it off for me. Service was great.

Roadtripping & stopped here! Sooo cute! Everything was a 10/10 - food, service, and atmosphere. Brady was an excellent server - warm, attentive, and made us feel like regulars. The catfish bites were on 10. My husband isn't usually a fan, but Brady recommended it, describing it as "melt-in-your-mouth." He was absolutely right - good af, but seriously so yummy! This place is a gem.

This was our first trip here while we were traveling up I-95. Usually we stop at a different place, as we are limited with restaurants because of our dogs. It was a pleasant surprise. It's a really nice place with a great outdoor area. The food was good and the place has a good menu. My only problem was the EXTRA SLOW service. I think they need to hire a few more people. We were practically ignored outside. Other than it being a 2 hour stop instead of a 1 hour stop, it was good.

Enjoyed my visit to the Bistro. I met a dear friend for lunch. We were seated right away and offered menus. We hadn't seen each other in months so we ended up speaking for over 45 minutes. Wife we ordered anything! Our appetizers were served quickly (once we ordered). They were delicious, we got fried zucchini and pot stirrers. We dove right in and forgot to take a picture. We sat there and spoke for almost two more hours before we finally ordered a main meal. The entire time our server made sure our drinks were filled and never seemed to be trying to rush us. Our food arrived and it was on point. My club sandwich was great tasting and served to perfection. The bistro is a great spot for a meal, the restaurant was clean and welcoming. The staff was great and food was delicious!

Although I have been to waffle House, which I'm sure I reviewed prior. I came in around supper time, 6:00 p.m. or so, and it was probably at 75% capacity. I sat at the bar, after being welcomed by a local fully equipped with his own Skynyrd beer koozie!! Hahaha! They have karaoke, and they karaoke DJ spinning all the good country hits, literally emulating exactly what I play at home. Anyhow, the local that pulled my chair out essentially, told me that the "bartender sucked" But in good ole down home local fashion, she clapped right back, and obviously he was joking cuz she is phenomenal. Despite having a completely full bar, and waiting tables, she acknowledged me almost immediately. Even sat down in the bar stool next to me to take my order and chit chat and go over the menu with me. I think her name was Alicia, but regardless she was outstanding! I ordered hot wings and lemon pepper wings. They came out really fast, really hot, and really good. I kind of wish I had room to order another entree, but it filled me up. As I waited for my food, I was suddenly engulfed by an entire group of locals. Now this place, is the mature crowd, and they were so nice they sort of took me under their wing! This is the epitome of down south hospitality. I've been holding out on coming to this place for a few years now, and looking back, I wish I would have came a lot sooner. I hate using the term "vibe", But this is totally my vibe. Great food, great service, great locals, laid back atmosphere with music playing and karaoke? You just can't beat it. I have responsibilities, so I had to leave really early, but rest assured, I will definitely be back. I mean who else is going to sing Jason Aldean on the karaoke machine? Thank you skynyrd's, thank you Alicia (I hope I remembered your name right), such a great experience and I'm sorry I had to cut it short! We felt that the food was overpriced for what we got. Each time, our dishes arrive luke warm and seeming to swim in cheese sauce. The portions are average. We've tried their soup, enchiladas, tacos and a couple of other entrees and... no thanks. Nothing we'd want to try again. Cleanliness is lax. A good overhaul of things like counter edges, the glass, floors under the tables and the bathrooms would make for a better experience, and a more positive review. The service? Meh... we did not feel that warm fuzzy feeling each time we have tried this place out (have been with a large group, another couple and just myself and a friend). We've felt like we were bothering the staff or that they had better things to do, or would rather attend another table than ours. It's a weird feeling when the staff ask how everything was without making eye contact, then not letting us answer because they're already handing us the receipt and wish us a good night and walking away. 2 stars for the chips and salsa, and free pop refills. So no, unless you LOVE this type of food and service, we do not recommend this place.
