Ordered take out from here on a whim while traveling south on I-95 not really knowing what to expect. Ordered a plain cheeseburger and the fish tacos, blackened. HOLLY. MOTHER. First, I'm from Miami and have had a lot of blackened fish tacos from Miami down to Key West. These were hands down, without a doubt, THE BEST blackened fish tacos I've ever had. My wife's burger was also EXCELLENT. Perfectly seasoned. Fries were a 10 as well. If ever we're passing through, we'll go out of our way to come back. Also, the place inside is awesome. We stopped at Bistro 221 on our drive home from Florida to VA and it's now on our list of great places to stop when we travel! It was just 2 miles off the interstate and we're glad we drove the extra few minutes. Really surprised it isn't already a 5-star on Yelp! We started with Sweet Teas all around and probably drank a few pitchers by the time we left(it was the perfect amount of sweet). For an appetizer we ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes and they were great- very crispy outside, not mushy, with a nice silky remoulade. I got the Pesto Chicken Salad and added ranch dressing on the side in addition to the balsamic it came with(dressings are an additional 50 cents as they are homemade, but so good- definitely recommend mixing them). I didn't try anyone's burgers or grilled cheese, but everyone loved their meal and were very pleased with dinner(we only wish we had room for the tasty desserts we saw). read more

New ownership, new HIGHER PRICES and very LIMITED MENU! Brunch menu on Sunday with very few options. Went there for first time under new ownership. Ordered drinks. They said they were out of coffee! Someone forgot to order it! Then the server came back and said they found some. Really? To our surprise, no homefries with breakfast menu, no cobb salad (out of salad mixture), and high prices for a super limited menu. We decided to leave as we didn't see ordering from the limited menu. Bistro 221 is a hot new restaurant in historic downtown St. George. It's a beautifully renovated brick building with a modern rustic feel and very inviting. I ventured in with my family for the first time this past weekend and we had a fantastic experience! At first glance the restaurant looks super cool and unique with an old mural on the side of the building. It stands out on the main road on Parler Ave with handsome signage and great lighting. As you walk in you see a great original sign painted on the brick walls with more accent lighting above it. To the left is a modern stairwell going up to the second level bar and seating area. As you stare through the foyer area there is a great bar area with big TVs and again cool lighting fixtures above it. A warm and inviting feel and perfect for this area! Not only is the place a great hangout spot and right off of I-95, the food is fantastic! I highly recommend the Bistro 221 burger as well as the wings! Stellar! Also, the kids chicken tenders, French dip and chicken salad are all excellent! Great service and great experience. Will definitely be back! read more

Loved the industrial look and the history of this place! It's unique and eclectic all at once! We stopped in for a NYE dinner. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Alexa, our bartender was funny and sweet. Kira is a great server and everyone there was friendly. I had the salmon w/crab cakes and my husband had the prime rib, which were both specials for the night. They were both wonderful and cooked to perfection. The side of zucchini/squash was so tasty, we could have had more! This is a must stop place, which is conveniently located off of I-95, and located in the center of this quaint little town. read more

This place is beautiful and the food is delicious! The staff is friendly and the restaurant is a great place to come with friends and family. There is a new owner/chef this year and things are getting better and better with menu updates and specials. There is a special brunch menu on on Saturday and Sunday as well! Travelers from the highway are made to feel welcome, and are told about the rich history of this historic building. The bartenders make great cocktails as well, so it is a great place to unwind after work and have a drink. You can dine inside, or enjoy outside in the beautiful covered patio area or hang out under a large pergola. Outside there is corn hole and giant Jenga to keep you (or your kids) entertained while waiting for your food or hanging out. There is a grassy area with nice furniture and pets are welcome outside too. They even have 5 TVs, if you want to come and watch a game or special event on TV. Upstairs they have a spacious venue space to host a party, conference, meeting or special occasion. It is a great family-owned business in a small town, and is a treasure o the people whi live in St. George. You won't be disappointed! read more

Gorgeous building; there for work, but the table got a visit from the owner. I love old buildings, and they've done a really cool remodel and combination of the space next door, while exposing and preserving a previously hidden sign on the brick wall (just to your right as you enter the main dining room. The back patio is a beautiful place to be, this whole Property is delightfully styled. We started out on the patio, but with a storm rolling in & humidity out of control, the staff was utterly gracious about moving us inside after appetizers & drinks but before dinner. Our party ordered the appy sampler and some extra orders of fried green tomatoes and fried zucchini. Truly hand made, fresh, hot, and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, which ranged from beers to Old Fashioned, to Cosmopolitans & red wine (The Show). Dinner was delicious as well, and our local colleagues explained that the food here is *always* good, so no surprises. After some fried zucchini and two Cosmos, I chose a Caesar salad with steak. Very pleased, wonderful dining spot- most especially when you consider the size of the town!! They could hold their own in a larger city, for sure. Wish I'd had room for dessert! 8/13/23- NEW review! This restaurant is under new ownership. We loved the original owners... this year the ownership changed and we just didn't care for the food and quality for the price at all. In the last few months it has been again purchased by a new owner and chef. The service, and quality of food is consistently awesome. So thankful to see it make a comeback. read more

Let me start off by saying it's a beautiful building but the food leaves much to be desired. We just ate brunch, it was a limited menu consisting of breakfast items, salads and a chicken salad sandwich and there were two daily specials. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad, it was adequate but nothing special for the price. My spouse ordered the regular breakfast which consisted of scrambled egg white and if there was a yolk in there it was a minuscule amount, two slices of floppy bacon, watery grits and DRY toast. No butter, salt, pepper or jelly were brought nor were the offered, I understand cost increases but $35 plus tip for this and ice teas is embarrassing. We will not return- the only reason I gave it two stars was because it was clean and has a nice atmosphere. If you prefer this over good food in a not so sophisticated atmosphere then this is the place to eat. read more

We both ordered the special, which was grouper over grits with a beautifully seasoned sauce. I'd order it again! The price point was spot on for the area. We were traveling down the interstate and it was not far off our route, making it convenient. Surprisingly, our food came out quick. The dessert case looked wonderful, however, we are both chocolate lovers and there were no options for that. This is the only reason I would rated a 4.5. One of the owners, Crystal came by our table and was not only helpful to the server with our request but took a few minutes to answer our questions about this restaurant. What an amazing find. If your looking for real, high quality food that isn't fast food then this place is for you. I had the chicken and waffles (cinnamon pecan waffles), my wife had the breakfast bowl (with fresh avocado and chorizo). Both were full of a flavor and we would easily order these again. The service was super friendly. The inside of the restaurant was rustic and stylish. With a full bar including local brews on tap there are so many beverage options to choose from. I highly recommend ordering the chicken & waffles. The waffle is made with cinnamon and the syrup has a sweet maple flavor that is combined with just a hint of spicy. They also include pecans in the mix! For this to be my first time having chicken & waffles, they've set the bar pretty high! A side of potatoes to just add something extra. My boyfriend ordered the Bistro 221 burger with a side of fries. It comes with fries pickles (a favorite of mine). The burger was thick and juicy!
