Cozy room

Excellent food. Such a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The honey salmon is a standout as is the fettuccine Alfredo which is huge! My only suggestion for management is to have real whipped cream for your delicious desserts. That would be a wonderful improvement.

Very comfortable beds, right off the highway but quiet enough you'd never know it. The room price is a little higher than surrounding properties, but that is offset by the fact that breakfast is included with the room, and I am not talking about the typical highway hotel pre-made scrambled eggs, tasteless pastries, and unripe fruit -- Clark's is a full sit down table service meal. Everything is fresh and delicious. Great service, good coffee. It was clear that locals come in just to eat, so it wasn't just hotel guests trying to get back on the highway. This was a special home away from home for those few hours of comfort and dining. Thanks! By the way, they have a really cool gift shop just off the restaurant. We found a few things to take with us.

Quiet for lunch

Disappointing that only salad and 1 of the soups is gf for lunch. It is a great looking place. Salad was good, but small with barely and pecans. Panini was very good. Service was good and people are nice.

Turkey & swiss panini, fries.

Stopped in for lunch. Very classy lobby, gift shop and restaurant, very well maintained. Old style, out of place in this little town. Wife had shrimp chowder and half panini, said it was very good. I had turkey & swiss panini and fries, also good. Lots of turkey, fries were cooked well. The sandwich was missing something, just didn't have any pop. This is a restaurant that is worth stopping at.

Let me start with this is really a 3 1/2 star restaurant. The place is a beautiful historic building right off the highway. We were on a long road trip and wanted a place to eat real food and saw the sign on the highway. When we arrived Thursday evening there were only two other couples in the dining room. Our hostess was very welcoming. Our glasses were quickly filled with water and menus were dropped off and we were told (a woman's name) would be right with us. Well after about 15 minutes Edgar came to the table, he was great. We ordered our dinners. I am gluten free (celiac) and he was helpful in choosing a safe option. My friend and I shared a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were crisp and sweet and the cost was very reasonable at $13 for seven shrimp. For dinner, I ordered the garlic encrusted catfish. There was not a lot of flavor, but the fish was moist and flaky. The grits were disappointing. They were flavorless and cold. I added a bit of salt and pepper to help but chose not to finish them. They substituted fresh green beans in lieu of the vegetable casserole which was not gf. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and concurred the grits were disappointing. There were no gf options for dessert. It was a decent meal, and if we lived in the area we would consider giving it another try. The dining-room did get quite busy by the time we left.

The outside looks like a very large bed and breakfast that belongs on the coast. When you walk inside , it feels like your inside a mountain lodge. We stopped for lunch- a very sweet lady seated us. The options for lunch- mostly salads and sandwiches. They had a pick 2- several options to choose from. I had shrimp and corn chowder, and blue cheese cranberry salad. Both were equally delicious!! Perfect pitstop on the way to Savanna

This is a must-see place when you come to town. We did not stay here or even eat here but just popped in after dinner one night for a drink. The bartender was amazing! Not only did he make a fantastic drink, he was personable and interactive with everyone sitting at the bar, and it was busy. Since this is an old home, they do offer tours. We only saw a few areas, but everything we saw was what you would expect, antiques everywhere that seemingly transport you to another time and place. Clark's make you feel like slowing down, relaxing, and taking time to appreciate your surroundings.

Rotisserie chicken with collard greens and grits

Quaint, cute, and historical! I absolutely love Clark's Inn. I immediately felt welcomed by the hostess, staff, and manager. With it being a Wednesday evening, it wasn't super busy, so I sat quickly and checked out the menu. My eye immediately went to the rotisserie chicken. I asked the waitress about it, and she said it was juicy, tender, and cooked with a variety of vegetables. After her description, I went forward with my choice, and I am so glad that I did! The chicken was not only juicy and tender but so delicious! The grits were super creamy and popped with the greens! I am sad that I could not finish everything--however they give you enough for a few meals. And you will want to take not only your food, but this place home. I love that I was encouraged to sit and read as long as I wanted. And when I left, there were rocking chairs outside, so I sat and read some more. Overall, this is a great spot to visit for delicious food and to take in some history!

Captains Quarters is just across the street. Yelp showed great reviews and the menu was super appealing. Mix of seafood, steaks and just good home cooking. It opens at 5pm for dinner weekdays. We got there about 6 to a pretty large crowd already. Apparently the locals know . Gypsy was our amazing server. Sweet and super knowledgeable. She's this places best advertisement. She had great tips on the whole menu. She was spot on for the red sauce. Chicken parm was perfectly tender. Sauce was like Nonnas. Recommendation to do the shrimp blackened was perfect. Way too much food for sure but she did warn that we would not go home hungry!! Beer was cold. Wine recommended was perfect and did we mention Ms Ellie? Ms E is an amazing young lady who stood watch on the whole dining room. With a hawklike gaze she quickly recognized a table needing bussed or a chair needing straightened And didn't need a prompt. Her quick action ensured table turn times were super Low. Please recognize her hard work. She's making everyone money!!! We stopped by to show her our appreciation on our way out and she lit up . Two big meals. Beer and wine and I was embarrassed how small our bill was. What a great bargain and great find. We booked the same hotel for our April trip so we can come back here!! See ya soon Gypsy!!

We were just passing through Santee SC for an overnight and sought out the Prime Rib dinner at the Lake House. It definitely did not disappoint! All the wait staff were super friendly and helpful. They pride themselves on scratch cooking (as do I!). Be sure to save room for dessert and plan on not being able to finish it. I gotta say, the OMG Carrot Cake just might be the best carrot cake since I got married so many years ago. Each slice is 4 layers tall and so massive that it's served on a dinner plate.

RVers are a "captured audience" since onecan walk from his or her RV to the restaurant. This is quite convenient. As well, the restaurant is located in a scenic environment. These are the two big pluses. As stated earlier, offerings are not tasty. They are way overpriced for what is delivered. One in our party had Yaya's cut of steak for 35 bucks. Take a look at the picture below and ask yourself a question: would you pay 35 bucks for this? The taste was not there. The portion size was not commencement for the price. Salads are not delivered as salads, but rather a bed of greens slathered with so much dressing that one can barely taste the salad at all. This place is a huge disappointment and a waste of your dollars. Don't bother stopping by.

Justin was our server and he actually greeted us outside. We did not wait more than 2 minutes before someone greeted us at the host stand and actually apologized for making us wait! As we were walking to our table, we noticed the fireplace going and it had real wood! It was so cozy! Justin approached us not long after and offered us to order drinks. We ordered waters, wine, and beer. So the last time we dined at Cracker Barrel was almost 11 years ago because we became deathly ill. The last time, I do not believe they served alcohol so we were surprised seeing it on the menu. Our drinks were delivered quickly and Justin offered us to order dinner. Hubs ordered the Country Fried Turkey with mac and cheese and hashbrown casserole. I ordered the Country Vegetable Plate with green beans, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and hashbrown casserole. Justin came back later and informed us there was only enough hashbrown casserole for one of us so he said I could order a side salad for no extra charge-sweet! Our food arrived not too long after and the salad was massive! Very fresh too! The Hashbrown casserole was good, everything else was okay but not magnificent. When we went to checkout, there were people taking way too long while their f'in kids were causing havoc in the store so we paid by using the QR code on the receipt. Our check was $45, which was pretty decent for 2 meals, 2 beers, and 1 wine. Oh but there were charges for getting apple butter and having a mix of biscuits and cornbread- was not aware of that when ordering. The bathroom was as clean as it could be but definitely needs to be upgraded. Best part of all, we did not get sick! We will be back if we are in the area again.
