Not a restaurant wish I could give 0 stars. There's about 5 tables and a small bar. Is in a rundown motel.

We were seated where we wanted and the wait staff was fast and very attentive. Our smoked pimento dip was excellent. My wife ordered a spinach an goat cheese flatbread and I ordered the Bone in Chop. The staff kept checking on us, filling water glasses, and letting us know about when to expect our meal. We were in no hurry and greatly appreciated the attention and concern that we were not waiting for a long time for the food to arrive. In short, my wife loved the flatbread, my chop was the the most tender and done to perfection I have ever had. The Brussels sprouts side and gouda grits were both awesome additions. I felt like everything was priced well and not overpriced. The Creme Brulet cheese cake for dessert topped the night! It is a small but well organized venue. I like the lighting with the ferns dampening the tone subtlety. The bar appeared lively and you could tell there was a mix of locals, tourists, and travelers. Because of the size the background noise level was up there a bit, however, we had a nice dinner conversation without shouting. My new favorite dining place when passing through Santee! We'll done, we'll dressed, and thank you!

The staff is fabulous, and I always love seeing Valerie when I go in -- she's the best. Cocktails are consistently amazing and always so yummy, and the food never disappoints. It's perfect for popping in if you're solo, date night, girls' night, and if you're lucky, y'all can snag the big green couches in the middle room. And of course, you always have to go say hi to the bobcat when you're there. One of my favorite spots around -- highly recommend.

The drinks are priced on the higher end, but the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere makes it feel approachable. We also love that they offer seasonal and holiday cocktails, which is right up our alley. We brought Luna along and sat on the patio, which was a nice option. I would love to see heaters added outside to make the patio more comfortable on cooler nights. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the Fireside Chat (served warm), made with Four Roses Bourbon, Croft Tawny Port, apple cider, orange juice, grenadine, turbinado sugar, allspice, and clove ($15). I really enjoyed the flavor profile--warm, well-balanced, and perfect for the season. That said, I was a little disappointed that my second drink wasn't garnished nearly as nicely as the first, especially given the price. Flavor-wise, though, both were very good. My husband started with the Gingersnap, which includes Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch whisky, Disaronno almond liqueur, butterscotch liqueur, spiced ginger syrup, heavy cream, Angostura bitters, cookie rim, and nutmeg ($16). He enjoyed it but felt it was definitely a one-drink cocktail due to how sweet, creamy, and heavy it was. He also ordered the Smoked Maple-Bacon Old Fashioned with bacon fat-washed bourbon, spiced maple syrup, tobacco bitters, and a salted brown sugar rim ($16). This one was a miss for him--too sweet, with the maple and smoke overpowering the drink, and not much bacon flavor coming through. That said, the presentation was excellent; watching the smoke being lit was a highlight, and I even grabbed a video of it. Our total came to about $71 before tip, and we didn't order any food, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Still, for the ambiance, creative cocktails, and overall experience, I think it's worth it--especially for a relaxed night out with a more elevated feel.

The Hoot has turned into one of my go-to Columbia spots!…read more I've been about four times now (last visit was takeout only) and the food was always good, but so is the vibe. As one of the only vegan dedicated places in Columbia, it's such a boon. My first visit I just needed some time to myself. It was about 4pm'ish, I barely ate all day, and I just wanted to absorb this book. I got a nice corner seat at the bar, ordered a delicious amber beer and the cheesy fries, and had a nice hour + just chilling. My barkeep could tell not to bother me, but didn't ignore me...it was perfect. My second visit was slightly later in the day and the place was busier, but you could still find a little spot to yourself if needed. Had the special for the day - the Chik'n Caesar Wrap and the tots - a great comfort meal, and a hard cider. I'm at or near Rosewood pretty often at different times of day, so I'm glad The Hoot is a viable option. My only gripe is that it's a bit difficult to find. I wish they had better signage on Rosewood, and below, that the entrance is in the parking lot below/behind the block. I parked down there and didn't even see it!
