Came into the place because of the ratings but was a tad disappointed. Upon arrival, everybody seemed very friendly and they were very friendly, but it wasn't that busy and it took them forever to come and just grab our drinks. The one server that was actually our server was talking to a person and went outside to finish her discussion with her and said that the lady inside would be with us. She never came to us as she continued sweeping, but in all honesty, I don't think it was her job to serve us as she didn't ask us to. Now I'm in the food service business so no matter what if I'm not busy or if I'm doing something that doesn't require me serving a guest I'm gonna take care of that guest, but it all depends on how they operate their business. Anyways, we probably waited for about 10 to 15 minutes for the waitress to come ask what we wanted to drink I was able to go to the bathroom and wash my hands. She did come to the table and ask for our drink order, we asked her for waters and she came back two minutes later and asked us what we wanted again and we had to remind her of waters. After ordering our meals, it came back looking great but the flavor was not so great. The fried chick was lightly battered which I absolutely loved and it was juicy and flavorful and not dried out at all. The collard greens were bitter and not cooked enough, I hardly tasted any vinegar that it should be cooked in. And don't get me started on the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes. Were definitely powdered mashed potatoes. I was disappointed because it doesn't cost that much to make mashed potatoes. I just had really high expectations for this place and it was just not good. Super cute place. Just not the best place to eat. read more

When in Santee for a golf trip and playing one of the Wyboo Golf courses, be sure to stop in for breakfast but I am sure lunch would be great too. The omelette that should say for two is highly recommended. You'll enjoy the extremely friendly service, hot coffee, and prompt food service. I know this diner is a favorite among locals. read more

We stopped by during a road trip , 15 minutes before they stopped serving lunch and they couldn't have been nicer- our waitress was like a Grandmother insisting we come in "from the heat to get something good for lunch.". The service was amazing with traditional southern country cooking. We each had the lunch special for $11 which was a dinner entree with 2 sides and fresh peach crisp and cornbread. Such a deal and the portions were huge, we could have split a plate. The food was good but the hospitality and service was top notch. Passing through on I95 and Yelped for lunch brought us to this little local dinner. Definitely a local hot spot as it was packed with locals residents and sheriff's officials. Seated right away with drinks. Waitress was a busy young lady, as they are short on staff. But that didn't stop our order being served in time record. This clearly is a local favorite, I've never seen so many hunters in one place in my life! I enjoyed my scrambled egg, corned beef hash and hash browns. The egg was fresh scrambled, the corned beef has nice and crispy, and the hash browns definitely shredded fresh. The biscuit was homemade. He had a ham and cheese omelet which he devoured. We are here recently while driving from Florida. I'd give it a pass in future. The people were very sweet but the service was bad and the food was worse. My husband ordered fried chicken very greasy and dry. I ordered pot roast and it was awful, even the greens were bad. After our first visit here, we told our daughter just how much we liked the food. She told us that she wanted to try it, too. So ahead of our road trip to FL, I told her to call the place and ask them what their hours are. When she told me, I added them to the Yelp listing. Interestingly enough, when we went this time, we noticed a new looking sign on the door with their hours...hmmm...coincidence? Once again, we were here on a Tuesday. The lunch special was the exact same one as the last visit. I'm guessing that every Tuesday it's the same. We also arrived smack dab in the middle of lunch hours so the parking lot was just about full. Fortunately, right after we parked, several people exited the restaurant, thus freeing up places to sit. Still, our party of 7 was placed in 2 separate booths that were back-to-back. All the adults in our party had the lunch special. The kids got burgers off the kids' menu despite one of the options being the lunch special in kid-sized portions. Our daughter and I had the chicken pot pie while my husband and our son-in-law had the meatloaf. We all thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful down home cooking. This time, when it came time to get the included dessert, the soft serve ice cream machine was broken so the choices were either chocolate or pineapple pudding. The chocolate pudding was run of the mill and tasted like it was made from a mix but we didn't care! Service, once again, was prompt and very friendly. Lunch for the 7 of us before the tip was just under $60. Here you pay your check at the register. This restaurant is a true hidden gem. When you approach the exit (exit 108 on I-95) you won't see any signs that mention this restaurant. Thus, it is very easy to drive on by and never know what you're missing. read more

We had their daily special of fried chicken and turkey and dressing with sides of stuffing n gravy, cranberry sauce, broccoli casserole, collard greens, rice and gravy, squash fritters and Mac n cheese. However, I tried another place in this small town called Reds Restaurant it's right across from Loves Truck stop in Summerton the food and service was excellent it's like being at home with grandma or your mother's homemade soul food absolutely delicious!! read more

Staying in Summerton for the week & wanted to eat local. The experience was very sweet! Even though they were understaffed they remained friendly & attentive! Being Yankees we'd never heard of Red Chicken Stew & they brought us a sample. 2 of our party ordered it & loved it! I ordered the broiled flounder & was brought way more than I could eat! It went very well with the slaw! My youngest got a hamburger with grilled onions & cleaned her plate!! Definitely must stop in if you're in the area. read more

We drove a little out of our way to try this highly rated diner and I'm glad we did! Such a charming little place with possibly the sweetest servers in South Carolina! Our food was good, I got the meat and 2 sides daily special opting for Meatloaf with Creole sauce served with cabbage and potatoes and gravy. My DD ordered shrimp from the menu and declared them delicious. Mom got a BLT and chose a side of potato salad (she declared it tasty if somewhat bland). I think my meatloaf was the winner as mom helped herself to several bites. The littles with us went with the standard chicken fingers and fries kids meal. If you should stop in here save room for their desserts, in fact their desserts alone are a reason to drop by! We spied a lovely, and almost gone, strawberry cake. When I overheard the server describing it as "as good as my granny's" I quickly called her over and ask her to bring us a couple pieces. A local woman makes all their desserts and if that delicious cake is any indication, Summerton is lucky to have a place to sample her baking skills. It was moist, not overly sweet with big strawberry pieces throughout. It was frosted with old fashioned boiled icing...perfection! The next sentence is kind of gross so quit reading now if you are the sensitive type. Toward the end of the meal,after I kept encouraging my grandson to eat more of his meal, he promptly stood up and vomited all over the floor. After apologizing to nearby tables, I whisked him into the restroom to clean him up. With reassurances that it was fine the sweet servers helped my mom clean up the mess. So very kind! We thanked them profusely and left them a hefty tip. We love supporting locally owned businesses and this one made it easy with great food, reasonably priced food, and the most endearing staff! There's a full menu and seems to be a hit for their lunch special served after 10:30am: an entree, three vegetables, dessert, and a drink. My boyfriend and I were disappointed that we missed breakfast, but their lunch options were affordable and delicious! It's a cash-only business but there is an ATM in the restaurant. I would HIGHLY recommend ordering the Chocolate Cream Pie if you are in the mood for some dessert. Side note: The service was outstanding and very friendly! We stopped off to eat here after reading the reviews while passing through on our vacation. I got the seafood platter with french fries and fried apples. My wife got the Monday special..BBQ chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh rutabagas, it also came with a biscuit and dessert of coconut or chocolate pudding or ice cream. I loved my platter, it was cooked perfectly. The apples we're pretty plain, nothing special. It was the 1st time my wife had rutabagas and she enjoyed them and the biscuit was like her Gran's homemade biscuits. Both her chicken and potatoes were overcooked. She got the chocolate pudding and she enjoyed that. I got chocolate pie. It was homemade and delicious. The servers were sweet and we enjoyed the company of other patrons who lived in the area. On our way back to Fayetteville we looked up a diner to eat at and came across summertime diner ... I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was pretty good ! With a side of some squared potatoes i don't know how else to describe them but they were also good. My boyfriend had the cheese burger and it was a pretty nice size burger.. with a side of onion rings. Delicious as well. The people were very nice. And we didn't have to wait long for our food in total we spent about 40 mins. read more
